Contribute Toolbar in Word 2003

First off, I absolutely love the whole
Dreamweaver/Contribute/Microsoft Office integration! I am using
Contribute 4. In the Contribute config, I have it set to give new
pages the .html file extension. Yet, when I have a file opened in
Word 2003, and I click the Publish to Website, and select, under
Format, Web page, the file is saved as .htm.
Is there some way, somewhere that I can publish the file as
.html? Many of our websites contain .html files and I do want the
content to be named in a consistant manner.
Any suggestions? TYVM!

TY for the suggestion. The preferences were the first thing I
made sure were set as .html. In DW, New Document is set to have
default extension as .html. The same thing for New pages in
Contribute. I have a funny feeling that this is something I will
have to live with.
Thanks.

  • Help? Unwanted Contribute Toolbar Keeps Reappearing

I own Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) and I am having trouble with one of the toolbars that CS3 Contribute adds to MS Word 2003 and MS Excel 2003.  I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
I do not want the Contribute Toolbar to be visible in Word or Excel; However, I have been unable to permanently remove it from the displayed toolbars in Word and Excel.  It always reappears when I re-open the programs.
I have attempted to remove it by:
    1. right clicking on the displayed Contribute toolbar and left clicking on the Contribute name in the display list.
    2. Right clicking on the menu bar: View, Toolbars, and on the Contribute name in the display list.
Neither of these actions remove the toolbar for more than the current session of Word or Excel.
How do I PERMANENTLY (at least until I wish to have it visible) remove the Contribute Toolbar from MS Word or Excel?
    Thank you for your time.

Contribute is not listed in the tools/add-ins in Excel or Word 2003.
I'm still looking for a solution.

  • Adobe toolbar in Word

I use MS Word 2003 &, as of 2007, Acrobat 6.0.  When I installed Acrobat, it appeared to install an Acrobat toolbar into Word that would appear just above the ruler at the top of the document.  From time to time, this toolbar would disappear.  Someone told me that Word updates tended to disable this toolbar, making it disappear, but that I could go to Help/ About Word & click "Disabled Items ...", and the toolbar would be in the collection of disabled items and I could enable it.  This actually worked a few times.
Now that I've upgraded to Acrobat 9, the toolbar has disappeared & no longer appears in the disabled item list.  In its place, there are 2 buttons at the right end of the upper Word toolbar named Adobe PDF & Adobe comments.  They appear to do the same conversion operation as could be done from the Adobe toolbar that is now missing, but it takes a whole lot more time.
Have any of you encountered this problem and figured out a way to get the toolbar back?  I find it preferable.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi nicolas_78,
Acrobat 11 is compatible with Office 2013. Please let me know what version of Acrobat you are using.

  • PDFMaker for MS Word 2003 posts UnCheckout on UnSaved documents

    Hi
We are getting a very strange unexpected bahavior with the PDFMaker plug-in for MS Word.
    Use Case:
    1. A user opens a MS Word document hosted in SharePoint.
    2. Makes some changes to the document but does not hit the save button.
    3. User uses Toolbar Icon or uses Adobe PDF=>Convert to Adobe PDF menu option to convert the document to PDF
The plugin sucessfully converts the document to PDF with the latest changes in it. But, somehow fires an Undo Checkout onto the document and all the changes in the document are lost. (And as an observation, this behavior is not observed with PPT files)
If steps 1-3 are performed on a .doc file present in local system drive; the plug-in pops-up a message saying
"Acrobat PDFMaker needs to save the file before continuing.
Do you want PDFMaker to save the file and continue?"
    Now my question(s) is/are
    1. Why plug-in didn't display any message for the document when edited from SharePoint?
    2. Do we have any fix/updates to address the issue.
To help is diagnosis my environment details are
    1. Windows XP SP3
    2. MS Word 2003 SP3
    3. SharePoint 2007
    4. Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard
    5. Could not figure out the version of PDFMaker plug-in
    Ref: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/754639?tstart=0

    Hi Michael
    Thanks for your reply.
But, my question is why the PDFMaker plug-in does not display a "Save" message when the file is edited from SharePoint?

  • Converting Word (2003) to PDF?

I need to convert a Word file (2003) to PDF.  How do I do this?
I have both Reader and Acrobat on my computer.  I tried Acrobat but it downloaded the file as another Word file not the PDF I need.
    Thanks.
    Steven

A PDF printer is a virtual printer that is installed when you install Acrobat (not Reader). Instead of printing to a physical printer, it creates a PDF instead.
So you would do exactly the same thing that you would do to print the document but you would select the PDF printer instead.
Another thing to look for is in the toolbar of Word you "should" see a little PDF icon (maybe two). You could click on that to create a PDF as well.

  • Character Direction override in Word 2003 imports

I've searched for Character Direction and seen mainly mentions of ME and foreign language conversions right to left and left to right. We do not use ME or any foreign language features. The behavior I'm troubleshooting for InDesign CS5 7.0.3 importing Word 2003 docs on a Windows XP macine, is as follows:
I have hundreds of Word 2003 documents, used in a production environment where editors update text daily or weekly, the production dept. imports into newsletters in InDesign. We go from import to finished product at the printer sometimes as quickly as 15 minutes.
In CS4, all of these documents import into my publications without overrides, using Microsoft Word Import options set for Customize Style Import, and style mapping used to map Word paragraph styles to ID paragraph styles
After the CS5 conversion, every one of my Word 2003 documents for all of my publications come in with overrides showing hyphenation settings and character direction that did not appear with CS4. This is despite my mapping styles, and the fact that these options can't even be (as far as I can tell) a paragraph or character override inside Word.
I went back to CS4 to make sure there were no changes in the Word docs. They worked perfectly, no overrides.
Inside Word 2003, I had to go to Tools > Language > Hyphenation and make the hyphenation setting in the Word doc match exactly the hyphenation settings for the paragraph style it was being mapped to in InDesign to make it go away at import.
Now I am left only with the character direction Left To Right override, which I can't figure out how to fix.
I can't find a way to set this in Word, and I can't find a way (since I don't have ME) to change it in InDesign. It is not practical for me to run a script for every import or continue to reset the overrides manually, because we simply don't have to the time, our deadlines are too tight and frequent. Plus, if we miss one, there are definite consequences, because the data is exported in a variety of formats for reuse automatically via scripts, and the override is messing up my exports.
I was hoping I'd see a post that says, "Ah yes, the Word filters in CS5 were updated, and now we look for hyphenation and character direction, and here's what you can do as a workaround" but I'm not seeing anything. If I can't define left to right in the regular version of ID or in Word 2003, does anyone have an idea how I can get my import to ignore it again?

I hate it when I know too much about MS Word.
I don't have Word accessible right now, but you can set character direction in (the Windows version of) Word. I don't remember the exact details off-hand. Character direction is not the only overrides I've seen make its way in. I've seen some CJK features get imported as overrides as well (by users not using CJK languages).
It actually depends on your OS and your version of Word, I think. In Word 2007 on Windows 7, you need to have a RTL keyboard installed in order to expose the right-to-left-paragraph and left-to-right-paragraph buttons on the ribbon. I think that Asian scripts are on in all installs of Word 2007, but since our OS has some Asian keyobards turned on by default by Group Policy, I'm unsure of this. In Word 2003 on Windows XP, you need the, oh heck I can't visualise the menu, something like "Enable complex script support for right-to-left languages" in the Region and Language tab in Control Panel.
For all recent versions of Word, you can check the Fonts window (control-D) to see if you have one, two, or three scripts enabled.
    Font = Latin-script
    Asian text font = CJK
    Complex scripts = Thai/Lao/etc. and Arabic/Farsi/etc.
Finally: It's possible to have a RTL paragraph in a Word document on the machine of someone who does not have the Complex Scripts dropdown in the Font menu in Word. Likewise, it's possible to have paragraph styles in Word with CJK information on a machine that does not have CJK support turned on in Word (I have seen this numerous times in the Win XP/Office 2003 era).
So, in terms of the original post - I haven't yet figured out if this is a new feature of CS5, or something about one's install of Word or Windows, but there are so many variables that the only obvious solution to me is "a workflow in which overrides are always cleared." You don't like that solution, I understand, but any other solution would require some extended troubleshooting of the entire workflow, including all installs of Word that might contribute a Word doc to be placed in ID.

  • Acrobat standard 6 user defined bookmark from word 2003

    Hi..
I've been trying to convert word 2003 documents to pdf using acrobat standard 6. All seems fine except the user defined bookmarks in the word document.
The bookmarks work fine from the bookmark pane but when accessing them through the hyperlinks within the document the destinations are wrong. The pointer will jump to the page it is in or maybe 1-2 two pages adjusent to the page the bookmark actually is in.
Can someone help me with fixing this problem?
    Cheers!

    Steven,
If it happened after an uninstall as you indicated, you may have to go to the add/remove in the control panel and do a repair on Acrobat. If the printer works, then you need to check that PDF Maker also works (it uses the printer). Asking about the printer was the first check and it passed.
I am not good at the PDF Maker options, but looks like that is the problems.
For MrEclipseguy, you need to be looking at the same options. Check things out in WORD first and then play with the other part. In WORD, there are issues with enabling the toolbar that is highlighted in other topics. I do not remember the solution.

  • OnScreen Keyboard in Word 2003

    Hello All
I want to create an OnScreen Keyboard in word 2003. It's very easy in Word 2007 onwards because of Ribbons, but it's very difficult to achieve that in Word 2003.
Is there any alternative of RibbonGallery available in Word 2007 onwards in Word 2003?
How to create a control in Word 2003 as it is available for Outside Borders of table in formatting toolbar?
Is it possible to add combos inside combo control?
I want a Combo for OSKB with 40 combos inside it arranged as it is in Outside Borders control and then each inner combo with 10 controls each.
I have been able to create new toolbar with simple combos but I want to get above mentioned behavior.
    Somebody please help.
    Dharam Veer Sharma

    Hi DharamveerSharma,
Thanks for posting in MSDN forum.
    >>Is there any alternative of RibbonGallery available in Word 2007 onwards in Word 2003?<<
    As far as I know,
RibbonGallery class is provided by .NET Framework 4.5. I and the VSTO for Office 2003 supports .NET framework 2.0, so I am not able to find an alternative for RibbonGallery.
    >>How to create a control in Word 2003 as it is available for Outside Borders of table in formatting toolbar?<<
Can you achieve the goal manually? If not, I think this may be a restriction of control in Office. We also not able to do it programmatically.
    >>Is it possible to add combos inside combo control?

    <<
Did you want to insert controls in Combo box control? Did you mean the content control in Office? If I understood correctly, no, we can't insert control in Combo box content control.
    In addition, since
the support has ended for Office 2003, to help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software, which can steal your personal information, I suggest that you update the Office to the latest version.
    Hope it is helpful.

  • Trojan Horse - contribute toolbars in Office applications

re: CS3 Web Premium - full install
None of the conventional methods of managing toolbars in MS
Word (and other MS Products) seems to work in eradicating the
unwanted Contribute (and to some degree, Acrobat) toolbars:
    /view/toolbars/ - deselect contribute toolbar
    /tools/customise - deselect contribute toolbar
/tools/customise - drag contribute tools from contribute
    toolbar until empty
All the above appear to work, yet the original Contribute
toolbar is present again (taking up precious space and throwing
toolbars in disarray) the next time Word (Excel, Outlook, etc) is
    loaded.
When dragging contribute tools from contribute toolbar there
is a confirmation screen regarding changes to
    ContributeWordUITemplate.dot - yet i can't find this template to
    remove or edit it.
Furthermore, what options do i have to remove the Contribute
and Acrobat menus from the main menu bar in Word?
Any application that overrides standard procedures to prevent
itself from being removed is a Trojan Horse as far as I am
concerned. This practice is worse than arrogance, it is malicious.
Has anyone managed to eradicate these?

  • Page numbers display as 5 of 1 and 2 of 2121 in a PDF that was created from a Word 2003 document

We merge several Word 2003 documents into 1 larger document that we then convert to PDF.  The page numbers in the Word document display properly - 1 of 21, 2 of 21, 3 of 21, etc.  We then convert that merged document to PDF by right-clicking the filename and choosing "Convert to Adobe PDF".  For those of us with Adobe Acrobat Standard 8.1.3, the page numbers in the converted PDF file display as 1 of 1, 2 of 1, ... 21 of 1.  Those with Acrobat Professional 8.1.3, they display as 1 of 21, 2 of 2121, 3 of 212121, etc., each page adding another total number of pages to the total.  There is no change in the result if using v8.0.0 or 8.1.4  Does anyone have any ideas???

Unless you have a specific reason to upgrade to OFFICE 2007, I would not recommend it. I hate it -- have it on two computers. I have had problems creating PDFs reliably from WORD 2007 and PPT 2007, at least with graphics. The conversion seems to want to split graphics up into several parts rather than leave it as one. It does not happen with WORD 2003 and so assume this is some sort of issue with OFFICE 2007. You can get the graphics fine if you use the MS plugin for PDF creation, but then you have to deal with the MS version of a PDF. If you want to try it on one computer in your office, I would do that before you make the change. However, if what you have meets the need, then why change unless there are specific items that you are looking for and don't have.
OK, that is my opinion. I am sure there are counter arguments. If I had the preference on my newer machines, I would have OFFICE 2003. Bill

  • Why is my spell checker not working in a document using Word 2003

I have a word document in Word 2003  .   I was altering it and noticed that from page 3 to 6 the spell checker does not work.
I transferred the pages into another another file still didn't work .  Just copied a paragraph still didn't work.  So I then started typing the rest of the document into another file and straight away it underlined my spelling mistakes in red.
So why not in these few pages of my document.
This is a paragraph from the pages below.  I altered some words deliberately to see if my Word 2003 would pick them up.  It didn't.
The landlord shall be entitiled to pursue the tenant for any reasonable costs incurred as a result of the tenant’s faulure to pay rent including but not limited to any charges for returned cheques or any reasonable costs incurred
in pursuing the tenant for payment of unpaid rent.
But when I put it in here it does pick them up.  So it is something I have done .

    Hi,
According to your description, this issue is more related to Word. The Word IT Pro Discussions forum is a better place for word questions, we will move it there for you.
