Controlling one flash file from an embed one

I have built 2 flash files - one with all of the content, and
one with all of the menu buttons, (I did this so I can update the
"buttons.swf" file without having to edit the "content.swf" file).
I have no problem loading the "buttons.swf" file using the
loadMovie function, but I don't even know where to start when
trying to control the "content.swf" file.
The buttons should be able to control the gotoAndPlay
function of the "content.swf" file so they can control the pages
that appear in the "content.swf" file.
How would I go about doing this, and where would I need to
add the code? Into the "buttons.swf" file, the "content.swf" file,
both, or is it even possible?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Ned,
I'm using the attached code, where btnholder_mc is the
instance name of the box to hold "buttons.swf"
Using this code "buttons.swf" loads correctly, however, I
don't know how to make this movie control the gotoAndPlay function
of "content.swf".
I should mention that "buttons.swf" has 7 different buttons
within it, each of which I would like to load a different page
within "content.swf". I don't know if this is doable, but I'm
trying to do it as such so I only have to update 1 file full of 7
buttons, rather than 7 different files, each with their own button
(for the purposes of changing themes/design/etc.)
I know that if I loaded each individual button as a movie I
could place an onRelease listener to each to run the gotoAndPlay
function, but I want to avoid having 7 different button movies. Any
ideas?

  • Create two or more flash files from one (Excel) data source

    Hi experts,
I have the following requirement about Xcelsius.
Our data source is a relational database. Via the ODBC driver we manage to create several queries and execute them into Microsoft Excel. Those excel sheets are the basic for the Xcelsius reports.
Now we want to build some highly visualized reports on that, but the crucial fact is. We don't want to have all the reports in one FlashFile, but we need several flash file depending on the area of the queries.
Hence our requirement would be one of the following points:
    - create multiple flash files from one .xlf
    - create multiple .xlf from data source
Another requirement is the automatic execution of the process. We don't want to have a person in between, who has to call all the .xlf files to create the Flash reports step by step. What we need is an automatic process.
Can this requirement be fulfilled in a way?
Maybe by using the Xcelsius SDK?
Thanks for any helps and comments!
    Sebastian

    Sebastian,
Firstly talking about the important requirement i.e. automating the process:
In your case you can achieve this by using the XML maps. This will pick the data automatically when ever report is refreshed.
Secondly, both the approaches are correct, however i would go with the first one.
    1. Create multiple flash files from one .xlf
You just need to create one dashboard and have a filter on areas (Invisible) and then export to flash (for every area).
    2. Create multiple .xlf from data source
This approach is also fine, however you need to create multiple dashboards and do the same thing i.e filter data based on area.
P.S. Did you get a chance to explore options to integrate Xcelsius with your Relational Database, this will be much effective.

  • How to control adobe flash files with sliders and buttons

    Hi,
I am trying to make a front panel for a vehicle completely designed in flash, and control it through labview.  I can load a flash file into an activex container successfully.  I have followed this thread here http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=351719  and gotten everything working.
But my question is, how can I send data to the flash file from labview?  Some examples of things I need to do:  Interpret a CAN signal and have some text appear on the screen, Make buttons flash, etc.
I understand how to load the swf, Im just not sure how to communicate with it.  One thing to mention is that the front panel for the vehicle will be fully custom coded.  However in the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to control it from labview.  Like if there is a clock.swf out on the net, how can I change the time from labview?  Is there a way to see what parameters are available for changing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
What specific Active X framework are you using to embed the container? The thread you referenced mentions Shockwave's Active X API, does this set of Active X functions expose methods for object control?
Could you elaborate as to the driver behind a fully Flash based front panel embedded within LabVIEW? Is this application inevitably going to be deployed as thin client software?
For interaction with custom flash applications aside from Active X, LabVIEW has an integrated Web Services feature to allow data transfer from custom thin client applications to the LabVIEW environment for processing and instrument control. A detailed discussion of the Web Services feature may be found via the links below:

  • Unable to open Flash file from 2009. Can I backsave a Flash file?

I have Flash files from 2009 and unable to open them in the current programs. Is there a way to backsave it?

    Hello Rezun8 --
Here is a link to the Flash file: Dropbox - Flash_test_file_for_modules

  • Saving a flash file from cs3 to cs4 ruins the file!

Last time I used flash for an urgent commission I discovered a very heavy bug, which did cost me half a day of work and nearly the whole commission. What happened:
I saved a flash file originally created with Flash CS4 as CS3 because the Actionscript programmer did not have a newer version. When I reopened the changed file and typed CMD+S it saved the file without warning. This was momentous: when I re-opened the file, only the library contents did show up, the timeline and stage was empty. Trying to publish the movie again resulted in a program crash. Thus I had to rebuilt the whole flashfile from scratch the next day and calm down a very nervous (and important) customer. Since then I always chose "Save as" and change the format to "CS3", and – how about that! – the file stays intact.
So HOW can a software have a glitch like this be on the market? I would suggest to Adobe that the rework the whole code because flash seems to be very poorly coded. I experienced numerous minor bugs in the last years, but this one beats them all. You save a file and ruin it.
If anybody else has experienced this, I would like them to share their experiences. Not just with me – share them with the people responsible for this. Write to Adobe.
    kind regards,
    tomasio

Just save.  It'll open in previous versions.
BUT if you used features that are specific to CS6 (like vector strokes) those may not show up in previous versions.
If you want everything to show, flatten the image and save a copy.
If you want to show the structure of the file - avoid features that are new in CS6 and save as PSD..

  • Creation of flash file from Device Central failing

    Hi,
I'm currently trying to create a new flash document from Device Central and the application is throwing the following error:
Cannot create new document. The xfl template document is either missing or corrupted.
I am also unable to test my flash files in Device Central via Test Movie.
This function was working fine until a couple of days ago.
Has anyone had any similar issues? I am running Master Collection CS5.5 for Mac.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

For anyone who has this problem in the future, I have managed to get it working again by doing a complete reinstall of Master Collection.

  • How to retrive flash files from website

    Hi,
I had a developer who has been working on Daciro.com. He build it using all flash. I need to make changes on the website, but it seems like he is out of business. They don't answer their phones or emails.
The website is hosted on their server, and I don't have the FTP details. Can you guys recommend any tools that I can mirror  or copy my site onto my local computer, and re upload the site to a real company. I have access to my domain, so I can just point it to a new server after I have downloaded the website files to my computer.
    Thaks!

Follow the guidelines to get the temperary files stored in your computer while browsing:
    i) Open the IE and view the site you want
ii) Goto > Tools > Internet Options (refer screenshot)
iii) copy the files from there, you will get only  the swf and other files without any source fla.
iv) Use SWF Decompiler to extract the source from the swf but it will extract to the maximum possiblity.

  • Is there a way to download a Flash file from the web?

    Hello all.
I am just wondering if there is a way, similar to downloading QuickTime movies and trailers from the web (using the provided link or its URL) to download a flash file? i.e. a flash-made audio or video?
    Thanks and cheers

    OK!
I use RealPlayer 11.0 beta for this:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8428
It automatically tells you if the file is downloadable.
    Works like a charm.
    Even in the West Country....

  • Running flash file from non-english folder

I am trying to run a flash movie located in a folder with non
english characters (japanse, chinese). (Using latest flash 9
    player)
The movie does not play at all. Moving the movie to another

Previous version of flash 9 seems to work correctly.
    Any ideas?

  • Help needed to load a flash file from another flash file

This is a two part question - but I am sure that answering
    one will solve the other.
I have a menu.swf file, and if I click on the top button it
should load module1.swf. (Which it does) - however I can see the
menu.swf file underneath the module1.swf file.
The second part of the problem is that when I click on the
top button of menu.swf, I want it to goto a specific location
    within module1.swf ( say the 8th page )
If I use loadmovienum ("module1.swf",0) it opens a new window
    - instead of replacing menu.swf
    any ideas

Use loadMovie() or loadClip (with the MovieClipLoader class)
depending on how much you want to know about/control the load. With
these you can specify a target movieClip for the load.
Not sure what you mean by 'location'. If you're talking
frames, you can use the load's target movieclip as a reference to
the swf and use gotoAndPlay - but you have to make sure the swf is
    loaded first.

  • Help transporting a flash file from flash encoder into cs4 premiere.

    Hello -
If anyone could help - it would be greatly appreciated.
I've been using Flash Media Encoder 3.1 to create LIVE videos.
    Video Settings:
    Logitech Pro 9000
    Format VP6
    15 FPS
    800x450 input / output
    Bitrate 500 kbps
I wanted to edit some of these videos but am having trouble importing these .FLVs into  Premiere CS4
The file does import but problems occur -
    1. The video is turned vertically instead of horizontally
    2. No video actually plays and remains a black screen
I'm thinking it could possibly be the preset I'm bringing in with. Any help would be great!
    Thanks so much -
    Leo

Format is not supported by Adobe Premiere  Instead of trying to edit encoded file, edit avi file

  • Making flash Files from ppt

Hi, i was looking for a good ppt to flash converter. But i only manage to find this site http://ppt2swfsdk.com/ .This is some trial software can anyone suggest me a good freeware ppt to flash converter.

Have you installed the patches for LabVIEW 6.0? The latest patch is LabVIEW 6.0.2 and is available free for download from here. You should definitely have the latested patch installed.
Also, can you check your Application Builder settings to make sure that the front panels for your 2 subVIs that cause the crash aren't being removed? LabVIEW 6.0 would sometimes mistakenly remove the panel, which would of course cause the crash if you tried to call the subVI and view its front panel. Also, VIs that Property Nodes or Invoke Nodes shouldn't have their front panels removed, since these rely on front panel data.
You can check these settings from the VI Settings tab of the Application Builder as seen below:
To modify these settings, click the Edit Build Settings button to see the following dialog:

  • How to call a method written in user control (ascx file) from javascript

    Hi to All,
I have one scenario where I need to call a method written in user control (.ascx.cs file) from javascript (ascx file). I tried below code but it is not working,  I found later it works only for aspx or asmx file , is it true ??
    Code:
    $.ajax({
                type: "POST",
                url: "ViewSearch/SetServerSessionText",
                data: "{'name':'" + searchText + "'}",
                contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
                dataType: "json",
                error: function () {
                    alert("error");
Can anyone please tell me how to call ascx.cs  code from javascript ??
    Thanks in Advance !!!

yes that is true, ajax calls can only be made to an endpoint like aspx pages/web service, basically anything that can return a http response etc. User Control can be embedded inside of aspx pages.

  • WinCE Projector does not display flash file properly

    Hi,
I built a projector application for loading flash files on a
Windows CE 5.0 based embedded device. I am using Flash player 7 for
WinCE5.0. The projector was built using embedded VC++ for an ARM
    processor.
The basic idea of this flash application is content delivery.
So, this projector loads a container flash file stored locally on
the device. This container flash file communicates with a remote
server(webserver or FMS) to retrieve content (flash files, audio,
video, images, text etc.). Right now, I am trying to load a series
of flash files from the remote server - one by one - like a series
    of ads.
The problem is that, the series of flash files loaded does
not display properly inside the main container file. I am using a
loader component in the main container flash file. All the flash
files loaded must play full screen. But some files do not play
fullscreen. It automatically shrinks to a smaller random size. This
behaviour does not repeat. It occurs randomly for any of the series
of files I am trying to load in the container flash.
When i tested the application on the desktop, it works fine.
But on the device, the loaded flash files shrink automatically. Can
someone explain why this is happening? Is this problem usually
associated with flash player on embedded devices?
I am stuck with this problem for a long time. I tired
different methods to get around it, but could not succeed. So I
would really appreciate it, if anyone can throw some light on this
issue and preferably provide a solution?
    Thank you,
    Jothishankar

I am using Flash Professional CS6.
It lets me edit all the symbols and bitmaps, and key frames.
However, it just publishes as a SWF a bit incorrectly.
