Controlling the Filename on an Export

When I export multiple artboards, is there a way to control the filename at all? I don't want spaces in my filenames, I want underscores.

If you use export no you can't get rid of the spaces. Save for web, allows you to control your characters, but then you have to create slices.

    Hello,
If you've not already solved this, let me ask a couple q's:
What tool are you running this report through for the export (it sounds like you're wanting to automate the process)?
Is it Business Object XI or Crystal Enterprise or simply manually exporting it using the CR designer program or...?

  • Can I temporarily change the filename when using mailDoc?

Here is the situation: I am creating a form that multiple users will open, fill out, and then click a button to email the form using the mailDoc method.
The email goes to an automated document management system that will move the attachment to a folder. If the document management system receives attachments with the same file name it creates a new version of the existing file, rather than amending the file name.
This behavior is not ideal, so I want to change the script to manipulate the name of the attachment based on a field within the form. Is that possible?

The attachment will take the name of the PDF file name that is opened. If you want to chnageth ename of the attachment you will have to save the file as a different filename first. You cannot completely automate this operation without Certifying the file. You can automate the saving of the file and allow the user to choose the new filename....but I doubt that this is what you want.
Other people have solved this by submitting the file to a web server then having the web server post the email. In this way the web server can control the filename.
    Hope that helps

  • Zipfile download - how to control the save as filename?

We've sucessfully created a portlet which allows us to serve up a zipfile. However when we run it, the default filename is ...ZIP_DOWNLOAD_DYN_TEST.show - which is the name of the portlet. • Is there a way to control the quality of my pdf file when exporting from a .pse file?

Is there a way to control the quality of my pdf file when exporting from a .pse file?
    Hi,
I have 2 pages in all in a .PSE file.
When I try to export it as .PDF, the quality is very poor. I cannot change it to a better quality.
Please advise how I can export the file so that i can have better quality.

To expand a little on what Jongware said, normally choosing vector over bitmap will decrease the filesize. If the vector art is very complex though, this will not be true.
Yup, a logo as bitmap takes up more space than the same as a vector -- unless the vector image is bitmap heavy (think Drop Shadow, Outline Glow; these are actually bitmap effects).
Also, check your PDF version. "Older" versions do not support live transparency, the latest do. Then again, you cannot use live transparency if you suspect your viewers may be using Mac OS X, because Apple's own PDF viewer sucks big time.

  • Can the filename be printed on exported images?

I'm using LR 3.5, and am wondering if I can have the filenames show on the images when I export them.  If so, how do I make that happen?  I am already watermarking a copyright script, which I suppose I could change to include the image name, but that would be pretty tiresome to do.  I assume there is an easy way to do this that I just haven't found.  Thanks!

There is one native sort of alternative: You do not literally export the images, but print them to jpg in the Print module.
Select "Single image / Contact Sheet", set a watermark, maybe also an identity plate, plus tick the Photo Info and choose "Filename" (or "Caption" or "Title" instead for a slightly different use case).
Don't get confused: you need to choose a file name for the print-export, but the filename printed on each image will be the original one.

How can I control the image size when I export form iphoto, the choice is too limited, I need to send a photo under 3 MB but if I choose high quaulity it is only 1.1 and i need to keep the best quaulity I can. Thanks for help.

Any image can only be as large as the Original. With a program like Photoshop you can UpRes an image and get it to a bigger size, larger files size as well, but the actual quality of the image will be degraded, depending on the UpRes system and the original quality of the image.
iPhoto is not the program to be doing that in and I don't think it even has that option.
So I suspect the image you are trying to send isn't much bigger than what you are getting. You can also try Exporting it from iPhoto to yopur desktop and see what size you end up with. If it is still that 209KB +/- file size then that is the size of the original image.

  • Any way to control the order in which data is exported?

I found it surprisingly easy to set up a form to submit its contents via a formmail script -- perhaps too easy...
Using Acrobat 9 (and the demo version of Acrobat X), I've modified a form that students fill out so that when they hit the submit button it pushes the form contents to a script which relays it to an e-mail address specified on the form -- no problems there.
But the order in which those fields are listed in the e-mail bears no relation to the order the fields appear in the form -- or alphabetical order of the field names or data values or the tab order. It's the same order every time. And as far as I can tell the mailing script isn't doing anything to change the order of the data.
This is mostly an issue of making the e-mail friendly for the supervisor who has to look at the e-mails as they come in. (I've done a number of searches on Google and here in the forums before posting and haven't found any references to similar problems, so maybe I do have a funky script.)
I'm wondering if a) there's something native to the form that could change the order of the data and b) there's some straightforward way of controlling that. (I imagine I could write some JavaScript to control the output I had to, but it seems like a needless step.)
Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
A solution would be to modify the server script to output in the order you want, as opposed to just looping over the collection of fields present in the incoming data as formmail type scripts typically do.
That is what I wound up doing -- making a copy of the mailing script and reformatting the message body string to contain just the data responses my colleage wanted in the order he wanted. It beats the old method of requiring users to fill out the PDF, save the document and then e-mail in the PDF as an attachment.

  • [web] how can i set the name of an exported html file

Hi,  I'm writing a plugin to export galleries for my homepage (standard html stuff). My current solution works and it creates a file named "index.html" and some additional stuff. Now I want to change the name of the created html file in the plugin (for example create a file galleryX.html with X being a number that is entered by the user). Is there a way to do this?  Thank you in advance, Sebastian

I think the names of the files come from the plugin manifest. So you would create a file used as a template, and the name of that file would be the name of the resulting file.
AddPhotoPages and AddGridPages take options to control the target HTML filename that might give you what you want, as well.

  • Controlling the sequence of an iPod slideshow using Elements

I'm trying to control the order in which photos are shown in an iPod slideshow (that I'm displaying on a TV screen)
I've been asking how to do this in some iPod forums, and someone suggested (without many specifics) that I could somehow set it up in Elements and then export it to the iPod.
If you know how to do this or can point me to a post, article, etc that gives an explanation, I would really appreciate it! Otherwise, it's all trial and error.

Doesn't it just show files in filename order?

  • What is the best seeting to export as smaller file size AVI from FCP?

Hi, I know the topic sounds very similar to many of AVI post it had been up, however, somehow, I do not find the right answer that I'm looking for.
I have a couple animation created from QT as "image sequence".
I simply want to export as avi file.
Here is the question I have.
    1. If I choose DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, and choose scan mode as Progressive, I get interlacing looking quality video.
    2. If I choose compressor type as "NONE" then even I set as "least" quality, the file size will be over 1G..although, that's the quality I'm trying to archive.
Is there any other setting I can choose to get good quality with lower file size avi? I have seen or download avi file on the net with very good quality and still download-able file size...

What is the QT method? (Export from QT Player?)
Yes, 10 hour plus is ridiculous. I'm guessing that there was either something wrong with your Internet connection and/or at the You Tube end of the uploasd/compression process.
Innocentius and Hugh are right; using Compressor (or MPEG Streamclip) and using YT's  uploader is the most reliable workflow.(Since Google changed the account verification process, there have been reports of upload problems using Share>You Tube.)  In addition, you have more control over the quality of your movie. You can create multiple custom settings in Compressor and then Share > Compressor custom settings. It will go faster if you export out of FCP as a Pro Res 422 file; should take 3-4 minutes top. The Web encode for a 3 minute video in Compressor might take 15 minutes, depending on your system. MPEG Streamclip is probably a little faster.

    Hi,

Yes, I should use Report Options callbacak but i cannot understand how.
I have added ReportOptions callback into my sequences. First of all, why is (is it) the ReportOptions sequence empty when i select it in the "View"  menu. Just the parameters can be seen. Does it mean what was done normally when ReportOptions is not added will not be done anymore, since the sequence is empty? Or, are the operations normally done but hidden from the user?
Not all Callbacks actually do anything, and this is one of them. But you can see if it has any steps by looking at the original in the Process Model Sequence File - "SequentialModel.seq". On the other hand, if it did have some steps, such as the PostUUT, there is a setting, I think its in the Preferences, that will copy the exact Callback instead of creating an empty one.
    sansar wrote:
Secondly, i can guess that the parameter i should change is the "Parameters.ReportOptions.ReportFilePath" but it is only available in the ReportOptions sequence. I think that i should be able to have it in the MainSequence (or in any of my subsequences) because there is the place i want to modify the report file.
The thing with the ReportOptions, is it allows the user to setup the Report Options. Therefore, although there are properties such as ReportFilePath, they only become effective when other properties have been set with the correct value, usually a boolean. You can see this by setting the various controls in the Report Options Dialog and seeing what is enabled and disabled. There are other properties that allow you to setup the component parts of the filename, such as ReportBaseName.
The actual report pathname is not setup until a step in the process model entry sequence (Test UUTs or Single Pass) is performed. This sequence is called 'Determine Report Pathname' (this might not be the precise wording) and is then stored in a Local variable.
You could obtain this setting in your MainSequence by using the lookup string "RunState.Caller.Locals.ReportFilePath".
    Hope this helps

  • Pre-fill the filename in Fileupload UI

    Hi,
I am unable to pre-fill the filename in fileupoad UI.
When I launch the WD app, on the browser it get the following URL
    http://devai063.private.xxxx.com:8081/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zgi_file_upload?sap-language=EN
at the end I add &filename=c:benefit.txt and hit enter,
    http://devai063.private.xxxx.com:8081/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zgi_file_upload?sap-language=EN&filename=c:benefit.txt
In WD window HANDLEDEFAULT method I am checking for the filename parameter if not empty I am setting the 'filename'  to the context of filename of fileuploadUI, but the app does not show the file name C:

I debugged the HANDLEDEFAULT and I can see the filename but somehow it is not setting to the filname for uploadfile UI.
    any advice is highly appreciated.

    From the online help:
Technical Browser Details Beyond the Control of WDA
Due to browser restrictions that are unrelated to Web Dynpro ABAP, the previously entered data path might disappear when a FileUpload UI element is clicked. In newer versions of the browser, it is therefore impossible to enter the file name in the entry field. The field always remains empty. The selection of the file name is therefore only possible in new browser versions using the Browse... button. You cannot enter the file name manually (using the keyboard or the Copy and Paste functions) or by setting the file name from the back end (directly or using context binding). For more details, read the security-related information in Internet Explorer 6 about handling <input type=file>.
