It might be better to explain what exactly the script doew- sometimes it is easier to look at the end results than to try to copy the methods. I'm guessing that you are using serverside JScript and that you are using XML to describe a Database, but in spite of being an asp programmer half the time, I'm not sure entirely what you are doing with the rest of that.

Crystal report run from ASP code significantly slower than when run in CRS

We have CRS XI R2. I developed a report that contains several on-demand sub-reports. The report and sub-reports are very fast when run directly from CRS. However, when I run from ASP (users run a link from the intranet), it takes 4 times longer (1 second on CRS, vs. 5-10 seconds on intranet). The report takes longer, bringing up a sub-report takes longer and paging through sub-reports take longer. What can be done to improve the speed of the report that is using the ASP code? I used a sample program provided at this support site to develop the report and it is pretty basic code. The only time I have a problem is when I have many sub-reports. Since they are on-demand, I do not know why this would matter.

This has been created as an incident with SAP support. Things that you will want to check is making sure that you handle the postback to the code as you do not need to run your entire code on every postback. This will help performance after the original load.
One other thing is to compare performance with the viewer within Infoview that uses the same backend server as your application, ie PSReportFactory uses the page server, so you'll want to test with the DHTML viewer. RAS code (reportclientdocument) uses the Report Application Server so you will want to test with the Advanced DHTML viewer.

How to change Crystal Reports XI database name at run time from ASP code using ADO

I need advises regarding to my problem below
I have two database in same SQL 2005 SERVER for TEST01 and LIVE01 Environtment, and I've created more than 100 reports with Crystal Reports 11 and call it from ASP classic page.
The problem is how can I change a database from TEST01 to LIVE01 at the run time from ASP code as I already using TEST01 database on Crystal Reports and I do not want to set a new database location inside crystal for each reports

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the same problem when moving reports from development to Test to Production environments. If the DBName is not the same the report ignores the name provided at runtime.

Connecting to remote oracle server from asp

Hi All
How can I access remote oracle server from asp?. I'm using the following connection string.

Both the web server and DB server has oracle client. I can tnsping, connect using sql * plus from the webserver.
But when I try to do simple connection & query , I get the following error.

Internet Client Error: Cannot Connect to Server.
All the permission settings are given correctly (after referring Microsoft & Oracle websites)
Can someone throw some links or help.?

why do you have http://DBServersIP as the remote server?
Your connection string should look like:
"Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle};Server=MY_SID;Uid=my_user;Pwd=my_pwd;"
There are other variations, but none of them should include HTTP anywhere.

Calling LabView from ASP or PHP ?

I was wondering if someone could help me.
I need to control a spectrum analyzer remotely.. The VI's are ready, and I would Like to call/Run them from ASP/PHP in order to enable the remote client to interact with the VI's via a normal Web Browser.
Tips:
client should be able to send the VI's some data(variables).
Get the results back and display it on the web page.

In that case, you might want to check http://www.jeffreytravis.com/. He has a book called "Internet Applications in LabVIEW". The book was written before 6.0 introduced remote panels. There's also an application there available for download called LabVNC that might work for you. I haven't tried it but it sounds like it would do the trick.

ODBC fails but only from ASP page (12154)

I have a working Win2k/MDAC 2.6 box, that can connect perfectly to an Oracle 8.1.7 on another machine. I can TNS ping this host, I set up an ODBC DSN and I can connect from the Oracle ODBC Test program. I wrote a simple script (see below) to test the connection, and run it as a Windows script (i.e. double click on the file) and it runs perfectly. All is great.
BUT, when I copy the exact same script into an ASP file (surround the script the the "<%" and "%>" delimiters) and run it, I get this:
ORA-12154 TNS could not resolve service name.
Anyone have any ideas why this script fails but ONLY from ASP??

Connecting to Oracle database from ASP = please help!

i have tried every kind of combination of connection string to connect to a 9i database from ASP but it does not work!
I am using XP Professional and have 9i Developer and ODP.NET installed but I want to use OLE DB (Oracle or Microsoft) to access the database. I have a feeling the web page is not seeing the driver. here is my code:

substitute your username/password and Data Source here.

Accessing Crystal Reports XI from ASP

I need to access Crystal reports from ASP. The catch is Crstal Reports XI is not installed on the web server where the ASP application is hosted. However there is another machine where Crystal Reports XI is installed. Can you please let me know, in detail, how I could view crystal reports through the ASP application under this scenario. If this is possible please also detail the required run time files that needs to be deployed on the web server where the ASP application is hosted.
If this is not possible, please detail the other ways through which I can invoke the crystal report from my ASP application page.

The only code you will find on this web site is for VB 6. I have a few C++ apps. Not knowing a thing about flex, I am not sure if either of those will be of any use to you(?). Other than that, see if you can find some flex forum and ask there...

I have been with this company for the past 10 years and NOW
they are no longer going to support ASP and they are only going to
focus on PHP. Is there a program that will convert asp to php? Is
this even something I should attempt as I do not know any coding
except what I have learned along the way. Thank you in advance.

Send Variable From ASP to Flash to ASP

I'm really, really new to Flash and using Flash 8 Pro. This
is what I'm trying to do. I have a list of cars, when someone
clicks on a car, they are taken to a page with details about the
car and a flash gallery. The Flash Gallery is reads the image files
names from an xml file. I'm really using an asp file (photos.asp).
