Conversation view why is date always ascending

date is always ascending in conversation view - even if I set to descending

http://superuser.com/questions/13518/change-the-default-sorting-order-in-thunderbird
I have the default sort order as 2, and each folder showed as being descending except for one. Not sure what happened to that one.

Why does Bridge always sort images by rating instead of by date modified?
This drives me bonkers.  Everytime I look for an image I've been working on, I go to Bridge and I'm always presented with the images sorted by rating instead of by date.
Then I click on the microscopic sized, extremely tiny arrow that allows one to choose 'sort by date modified' and I resort them to find the file I need.  So that's always 3 extra clicks to find the image.
WHY can't Bridge sort images by date modified and STAY that way every time I come back?
    Thanks for any help.
I know I could just keep the recent files rated the highest, but still, I'm wondering if there's a way to make it work the way I'd like it to work?
    jn
p.s.  Note to Adobe: Please make the selection button for sorting images arrow larger than a fraction of the size of the period at the end of this sentence.  Thanks.

WHY can't Bridge sort images by date modified and STAY that way every time I come back?
By default it does stay at the latest selected sort order so this could mean it is due to your install.
First of all try to reset the preferences for Bridge, hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset preferences. This sets it all to default. First try if the problem is solved then set prefs again to your own custom wishes.
Also check and repair permissions for the OSX itself (Apple has disk utility in the utility folder for this job, and there are other 3th party applications)
And be sure to have the latest update for Bridge. (Bridge CS5 should be 4.0.5.11)
In addition to the method Tai Lao pointed you already to there is a third option, use right click mouse button in content window and the pop up menu has also the sort option at the bottom of the row

  • Why report is always select statement...

    hi guys,
when we are dragging the columns from Business Area or in any reporting tool, and when we see the SQL, why it gives always select query.
this question is raised by one of my manager having 15+ years of experience in Oracle Apps.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, if I understand it, he wants to know why any query tool uses SQL (ie: select) to display the data.
And the answer is actually really simple - it's the only way to get data from an Oracle database.
That's it ... there's absolutely, positively no other way of getting data back from an Oracle (ie: relational) database.
It doesn't matter if you use Discoverer, Cognos, Brio, Business Objects, Microsoft products via ODBC, etc., everything boils down to a SELECT statement eventually.
So in Discoverer, the workbook / worksheets that you create keep information about the 'presentation' of that data - ie: colors, fonts, titles, graphs, etc. but the retrieval of data will always be in SQL - and as it sounds like you noticed - you can view the SQL in Discoverer if you desire.
Look at it this way - in Discoverer you're saying "go get me AP_Invoice information, where I want the invoice number, the invoice date, the invoice amount, the vendor name, the vendor number, etc. ... and I want the total of the invoice amount when I enter a date range".
That's the coding in Discoverer. The minute you invoke that code - ie: run the worksheet - badda' bing ... badda' boom ... it initiates a SQL command to the Discoverer database tables (via a folder in the EUL) probably something like: select invoice_number, invoice_date, invoice_amount, vendor_name, vendor_number from ap_invoices where invoice_date between '01-JAN-2008' and '03-JAN-2008'.
The Oracle database comes back with the data, dumps it into Discoverer and Discoverer does all the fancy layouts, colors and totals ... and everyone's happy.
So again, the only way to communicate with an Oracle database using ANY TOOL is via SQL (and the SELECT statement is the fundamental way of retrieving data). And for the Oracle Apps guy you mentioned, that includes all the Oracle Apps Forms (screens), Oracle Apps reports, changing user passwords, the concurrent manager ... etc.
It's a SQL Select world when it comes to Oracle!

  • Feedback on Outlook 2010 Conversations View

Outlook 2010 Conversations view is a great idea, but the Beta implementation has a few usability problems which prevent the feature from being successful-- if I had to use the feature in RTM in its current Beta state, I'd probably turn it off. But fixing it seems not too difficult-- there are only a handful of very annoying usability issues I've found so far.  It'd be great to see the issues below addressed in RTM.
    1) Keyboard Navigation shouldn't cause auto-expansion. When using the keyboard arrow keys to scroll through my inbox, Outlook will auto-expand the selected conversation.  The result is that scrolling with the keyboard is like playing whack-a-mole, with conversations expanding and collapsing seemingly at random.  This prevents effective reading of message titles and auto-previews.  The same thing sometimes happens when I delete a conversation and the following conversation is selected. In either case, you should *never* auto-expand a conversation unless I press ENTER or right-arrow on a selected conversation.  For mouse selection, auto-expansion seems more reasonable since you're not doing mouseclick-mouseclick-mouseclick in sequence like you do from the keyboard when reading and deleting messages.
    2) Converation "From" is confusing. Your "From" field shows any unread senders only, and shows all senders if all messages are unread. I'd expect to see all senders in both cases. What's even worse is when you use auto-preview and the most recent message is already read. In that case, you'll see auto-preview text from the most recent (read) message but see a sender(s) of older messages. You'll see User-X's name as sender of User-Y's AutoPreview text.  Weird!
    3) minor thing: double-click of a collapsed conversation opens the newest message. Once it's expanded, double-click doesn't do anything. It should behave the same in both cases.
    4) If you hit up arrow or down arrow to select a conversation, then quickly hit ENTER to open the top message in the conversation, it doesn't do anything. If you do the same thing but wait one second, before pressing ENTER, it will open the newest message. Behavior should be the same in both cases.
    5) When I use up/down arrow to select a message with auto-preview showing, sometimes the auto-preview will vanish and sometimes it won't. This is really disconcerting since my eyes need to jump upwards several lines to see what just got expanded. If something is there when the thread is collapsed, it should stick around when it's expanded. Oddly, I don't see this behavior for all conversations-- some will stay showing auto-preview, some won't. Perhaps only one-line auto-previews stick around while 2-3 line autopreviews are hidden upon expansion?
    6) When I right-click on a collapsed conversation, I'd expect to see "reply" or "reply-all" options (meaning reply to the topmost message in that conversation) but instead I need to separately select the message to reply to.
Other than these gripes, I think conversations view is definitely headed in the right direction. Nice work!
BTW, I already posted this feedback to the Office 2010 blog, but I got no responses there so am posting here so my feedback won't get lost.
    Justin Grant

Thanks Diane for the quick reply!  Some follow-up notes:
    1. Cool!  This is exactly the behavior I was looking for. Once I clicked the checkbox in Options, the behavior is much more predictable when using the keyboard.  It's a bummer this setting is not easier to discover.  Seems like this should be the default setting.  Note that there's a display bug when this option is selected-- I sometimes see odd visual artifacts after I collapse a thread with the keyboard, e.g. rectangles which aren't painted correctly or show up as gray boxes.
    2. Nope, you didn't understand correctly. :-)  The problematic scenario is where there are some unread and some read messages in a conversation. In that case, the autopreview text shows for the most recent message in the thread (regardless of whether it's read or not) but the "From" field shows the senders of the unread branches only. The result is you can see a sender of one message showing up above the autopreview text for a totally different message. This is weird. And then once you read the last unread message, all the senders come back in the From field, so reading one message causes From to show 10 senders where before it showed only one.
After using it for a while, I like the auto-preview behavior of always showing the most recent message in auto-preview, even if that particular message is read. I also like the behavior of continuing to show auto-preview until all branches of the thread are read. What I don't like is the "From" behavior showing a varying number of senders depending on what's read vs. not. Instead, I'd like to see "From" show all the senders on the thread, in order of recency (most recent branches should show up at the front of From).  Extra credit if unread senders show up bold and read senders unbold, but I'd also be OK with all senders showing up bold if the mixed boldness is too hard.
    3. try double-clicking on the name (the top line) of an expanded conversation. the double-click doesn't do anything. it should collapse the conversation-- the reverse of what happens when you double-click on a collapsed conversation.
    4. doesn't matter now that I have a solution for #1! :-)
    5. not a big deal now that I have a solution for #1.
    6. This was a bad choice for cleanup: reply is the probably most common (after delete!) operation you want to do on a conversation!  Certainly more common than printing or quick steps or the other random things remaining in that context menu. Anyway, thanks for the tip-- I always use right-click for replies, didn't think to use keyboard.
    > FWIW, most people don't like the conversation view.
Hmmm. Now that I know about the keyboard no-expand setting, I like Conversations a lot more! If the Office folks can fix the From field issue (#2 above), then the feature will be, to me at least, good enough for RTM.
But assuming these usability quirks get fixed, I really do need this feature.  I get hundreds of messages per day and without Conversations I'd have a much harder time dealing with the incoming load-- this is a feature I've been needing for years. I also really like the ability to see my Sent items on the same Conversation without making a trip to Advanced Find.
FWIW, Conversations (assuming the usability issues get addressed) is literally the only feature of Office 2010 that would justify the upgrade price for me.  The other improvements in Outlook and the other Office apps are nice, but Conversations saves me several minutes every day... and that productivity adds up quickly!

The Best thing in Life is Life

    Since the Variable
BLDCHKDT and BLDCHTIME are of type date time why are you trying to assign it a value
    of type varchar
and the format 105 gives you dd-mm-yyyy but SQL server takes the default format as mm-dd-yyyy so the error occurs for all dates that
    are greater than 12
    try the below code
    Declare
    @hdrLOCAL char(255),
    @CR char(255),
    @BLDCHKDT Varchar(50),
    @BLDCHTIME Varchar(50),

  • Conversation view issue

I bought a new Asha 300. I recieved a message from a friend. I read his messages in the conversation view and replied. I recived and replied 27 times in this one conversation. I then left my inbox after the conversation and saw that I apparently had 27 unread messages. They were from the conversation, and they obviously weren't unread because the entire message was shown in the conversation view and I had replied.
Turns out that in order to get rid of the unread message notification, I had to go back into the conversation and actually open each individual message, all 27 of them.
Why would I need to open every message individually if I had already seen the whole message in the conversation view? Is there an issue with my software or is it just meant to be really annoying?

How do the phone know if you've read that? With non-much phones, it was possible as you could keep a message in highlight. For touch enabled phones, you need to open the message to mark it as read.

  • Is it possible to view the Rules data in Information Steward.

    Hi Experts,
I'm working on Information Steward.Could you please guide me how to work on it.If i'm asking anything wrong correct me.
In our project (Data Cleansing) source system is MS-SQL Server.
when i create rules by using parameter, function and value  in Data Insight .
1)In information steward we can view the table data.Coming part of the rules i'm not able to view the data.
2)when i click on score card setup icon here i can add Key Data Domains. It will display with yellow exclamantion mark.
    Regards,
    visu.

    Hi Visu,
you need to calculate the score for your rules by creating a Rule Task (Calculate Score). The scores for your Tables, Columns or Rules can then be viewd in the Workspace Tab under the Rule Result panel.
These Rule Results are organized for technical focus: I am responsible for a tabel in my databasea nd want to know how good the data within the table is, or within a column...
The DQ Scorecard is a different concept where you can create a nice drill down scorecard based on a Key Data Domain that you can define. This is for example if you are a Data Steward within your company responsible for the Product Data and you want to get a quick entry point / visualization how good the product data within your company is. (This person might not be aware in how many differnt tables of a database relevant product related data is stored and needs to be assessed, he just wnats to see results for his Key Data domian / Data Entity / Business Object PRODUCT). So the DQ Scorecard is a separate cetup, where you define which Key Data Domain, which Data Quality Dimensions (that you have already assigned to your rules), which Rules (that you already have bound to your tables) and which Rule Bindings you want to pick form your basic score calcualition to be conolidated and propagated to the higher level score of your Key Data Domain. That's what you do, when you go to Scorecard Setup. If there is a Exclamation Mark on any level of the Scorecard Setup, it means that you have not added next level of detial in that chain.
Easy explanaition for why havign separate setup: You might want to defien a central ruel in your company to define valid salutations for persons (Mr. , Ms., unknown), bind them to the physical tables EMPLOYEE, SUPPLIER_CONTACT, CUSTOMER_CONTACT for getting the DQ SCore when setting up the Rule Tasks on the EMPLOYEE, CUSOTMER and SUPPLIER table.
--> gives you three individual scores, based on one single rule definition.
But you also want to get a DQ Scorecard for drill down based on the different data objects. So your Scorecard setup has three Key Data Domains: Employee, Supplier, Customer. You add Data Quailty Dimenson to the scorecard set up for each Key Data Domain (chooes the ones you have attched to your single validation rule for the salutation check) then for every Key Data Domain and its Quality Dimension you add at least the Salution Rule (or I expect you have much more rules like validating other fields) and for each and every Key Data Domain / Data Quality Dimension / Rule defined you add the according Rule Binding: To the EMPLOYEE table for the Key Data Domain Employee, etc...
All concepts are described in the Product tutorials and in the documentation.

    Question
When I access the Application Data folder with administrative privilege on my computer, I get an error message "Access is denied".
    Answer
    Note:
This FAQ is based on discussions from a previous forum thread (
Accessing "Application Data" in Windows 7 ). Thanks to Ronnie Vernon and other participants' information sharing.
In Windows Vista or later Operating Systems, the default location of user data has changed. The
Application Data folder is not an actual folder. It is a
Junction Point for backward compatibility. A Junction Point is a physical location on a local hard disk that points to another location on that disk or another storage device. It is essentially a shortcut.
You might have noticed when clicking on a folder in
Windows Explorer with a shortcut icon shown on it (a Junction Point ), you get an
Access Denied error message. This is to be expected. By default, the Read permission for Junction Points is set to
Everyone – Deny . You are not supposed to access these folders, and there really is no reason to access these folders.
If you want to know where are those Junction Points pointing to. You can track down the real location of the files by running the command
dir /aL to display all the Junction Points and the locations that the
    Junction Points refers to.
    For example:
If you want to track down all Junction Points on C: drive, please locate C: drive and enter the following command:
    C:\>dir /aL /s

This article is nonsense. Applications store data in this folder that needs "backed up." As one example only, bookmarks for Google Chrome.

  • Requirement in conversion of material master data

i have a requirement in conversion of material master data, what do i need to do in this, do i need to use the LSMW or BDC for this scenario can any one help me in this issue.

    Hi Rocky,
You can go for either of these two methods.Conversion in the sense you are going to create one upload program for MM01 and will upload the data using the program
But I suggest go for BDC.Because in LSMW you can not capture all the views for material master.
I am writing steps(BDC recording) for this.Just follow if helpful:
    1.Go to SHDB t-code.
    2.Press NEW RECORDING
3.enter recording name,Transaction code(MM01) and then press Start recording.
This will take you to the transaction MM01,please enter the test data given by your functional consultant. Also select the views that required by client.
    4.After recording save it.
5.After saving press program button from the menu.
6.This will take you SE38 with the recording code.
7.Then you do as per normal BDC program, declare internal table and map with the uploaded fields.
    Shout me for further clarification.
    Reward if helpful.
    Thank you.

  • Why do I always have to argue with BT?

Since an engineer visited me on Monday, my noise ration has been gradually creeping up, and my sync speed gradually falling.
    Obviously they are both related.
So, I email the MODS and asked for them to lower my noise ratio to 3 up, 3 down, as it has been for years... infact it has been as low as 2, an I have had a perfectly stable connection.
    The MODS reply?
The optimum noise margin is 6 dB, typically anything lower than that can cause stability and anything higher than that indicates a noise or instability problem (though a noise margin of 9 dB is still acceptable).
Whilst the sync speed may be somewhat lower than what it was in the past, it is normal for speeds to fluctuate and there's nothing there indicating your speed has decreased due to a fault as your noise margin is good and you have a low number of error seconds and no drop-outs over the last three + days.
I would advise though to keep an eye out for any deterioration in service (i.e. stability/drop-outs) as if the problem returns we can see about getting that checke out further.
I know all of that, Im not stupid!
I also know that a sync speed dropping from 18meg to 14meg is not usual fluctuations in speed, because I know my service, I've had it for 10 years!!!!
Im going to post stats from my previous supplier, then from BT.
    Look at the difference.

Why do I always have to enter password-WI-FI?
It's possible the Wi-Fi is configured to work this way.  The Wi-Fi in my office requires users to log in every time they connect.
Do other devices on the Wi-Fi network have the same issue?  If so, it's a setting in the Wi-Fi router.

  • Conversation view

As seeked over the Internet, it turns out that me and so many others are facing the problem of not being able to turn on and off conversation view on android Gmail app. I wonder why Sony support still didnt care enough to fix it.

  • Conversation View for short messages?

I'm using Nokia features phones for a little time now, and something that I always felt like missing was a “conversation view” for short messages, instead (or aside) of the antique Received/Sent model.
Today, I watched the promotionnal video for the Nokia 301.
And it seems that there's finally a proper way to display discussions!
    That's really interesting!
    Now I'm wondering:
Is this really the new SMS interface from the S40/NokiaOS system, or a specific application for chatting or for Facebook or something else?
I'm currently using a Nokia 2700 “Classic”, using version 07.80 (18-08-09). Is there a way to update my system to the version with this new conversation view?
Starting which version of the OS is this view implemented?
If the 2700 is not compatible with this, is there any third-parties (.jar or something) applications for managing (safely) my SMS in a similar way?
I plan to update to the C2-01 or the 301 one day, but not right now. For the first one, is this interface also available?
    Thank you for your answers,
And I'm glad that's the only thing that was wrong with this OS seems to be fixed!
    Have a nice day,

Like on most other modern phones (including iPhones, Androids and Windows Phones) the conversation view is now the standard messaging view and cannot be changed. The old way of sorting messages in sent and received folders is pretty much a thing of the past.
All you can really do is get used to it or find a basic phone that still uses the old sorting method. If you are upset about this I suggest you blame Apple as it was them that pretty much forced it to become industry standard.

  • Conversation view like mail in lion

Hi! I am not able to see the mails in the usefull conversation view I have in Lion when the messages are orgnised in thread. It's seems that ios5 organized the similar messages in thread and when u click on it it shows the mails separated each other and not together like in the Conversation view  of Mail for Lion.
    Can u help me please?
I would be really gratefull if u can answer me. Thanks
    Cheers,
    Alberto

Well, I tried that and all connections were successful.
However, I just tried something else.  I had an online Exchange account that I have been using, but recently deactivated the account, and moved the mail servers to my own domain.  I had left the Exchange server account active to give the system and accounts time to migrate and sync, etc.  On a whim, after your above email, I deleted the inactive Exchange account and that seems to have fixed it.  I don't know why, though, because all email accounts were set to use mobile SMPT2GO for all outgoing mail, and that account was turned off on the server side.
For anyone else having this problem, I also tried the various fixes in the thread here.  There are some good ideas, though they didn't work for me.
