Converting Word Templates from 2003 to 2013 Version

Hello. I work at a school environment and most of our secretaries had been running Office 2003. They have a lot of Word templates. Recently, as we have decided to upgrade Office to 2013, we have the problem of hundreds of old templates
that need to be converted over to the 2013 version.
Is there a quick and efficient way to do this? Instead of manual converting each file, one by one.

I added the wdDoc.Convert because otherwise you are not explicitly converting documents but only renaming them to .docx
The additional functionality of Office 2013 comes available when the document is actually converted. You can test this by opening the document after het has been really converted, you should be able to see the SmartArt options. If you only rename them to
.docx you will see that the 'new' smart art functionality is not available.
Doesn't mean that the provided code block by Edward doesn't work, it does a great job. My advice would be to add the convert line if you really want 'converted' files.
Last thing you have to think about is these code snippets use SaveAs2, that means that you will get two instances of your document. If you choose convert you are actually converting the original document. In that case you do not choose SaveAs2
but you use Save.

Why can I not Convert a Microsoft Office Document to a PDF using the Context Menu?

Why can I not Convert a Microsoft Office 2013 Document to a PDF using the options found in the Context Menu? (Ex: Convert to PDF, Combine Supported Files into PDF?)
I updated to Acrobat XI PRO recently, but now i'm unable to combine or convert microsoft word docs to PDF.
In Adobe Acrobat X I had this feature below, and it would combine Microsoft Office Documents all into a single PDF. Now I no longer have this issue in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. It seems like it was program named Adobe Elements that was running the conversion.

Upgraded to claims mode authentication in 2010 but in 2013 it states it was not

I recently went through the process of converting my classic mode web application over to claims mode in my 2010 farm and was preparing it for migration to my 2013 farm.
I have been following the guide on tech net that outlines the process and each of the steps necessary.
I was able to convert the web application sucessfully and verified that in Central Admin that the web application now lists claims mode, also my users are now showing up with claims name types.
Today i attempted to start the process of attaching the converted database to my 2013 farm and ran the "Test-SPContentDatabase" cmdlet. Nothing really stood out as an issue, but i was baffled why at the bottom of the report i saw the following...

Error: False
UpgradeBlocking: False
Message: The [webapplicationname.mydomain.com] web application is
               configured with claims authentication mode however the
               content database you are trying to attach is intended to be
               used against a windows classic authentication mode.
Remedy: There is an inconsistency between the authentication mode of
              target web application and the source web application.
              Ensure that the authentication mode setting in upgraded web
              application is the same as what you had in previous
              SharePoint 2010 web application. Refer to the link

Are you sugessting that i create a classic mode web application in my 2013 farm with powershell, attach this already converted claims based content database from 2010 and then convert it to claims mode once it is attached in the 2013 farm?

SSRS find max of converted date field

Hi
My SSAS source has a date field in this for mat dd/MM/yyyy which is stored as a string.
In ym report when I find the MAx of this field it is doing it by the day rather than the date.
I have tried the following but it doesn't seem to work it just errors on the report, how can I get this to work.

Based on your description that you have problem by using the expression "=MIN(FORMAT(datevalue(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value),"dd/MM/yyyy"))" to convert the string date fields "dd/MM/yyyy" to date type "dd/MM/yyyy" and
get the minimum date ,right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by the CDate("dd/MM/yyyy") function is not invalid, the CDate() function not support the format "dd/MM/yyyy", but support this format "MM/dd/yyyy",
so you can add an calculated fields which have the changed format date of "MM/dd/yyyy" first.
Details information for your reference:
Right click the DataSet(DataSet1) and select the "Add Calculated fields" to create the New fields:
Name:NewDate
Value:using this expression to get the "MM/dd/yyyy" formatted date:

Thanks Vicky that worked a treat.
What I also did was to bring into the cube the date field as a date (yyyy-mm-dd) format and then used and then used Vikash16 suggestion that also works.

As I am a developer I do not have the access to Sql profiler or tuning agent to optimize my query, I have used some joins over the temp table #HIHO which indeed pulling the records from table EDW_Source which has 5 million records, I also added Non clustered
indexes on prov_ID, SMG_ID and Incurred month for this table, but still it is taking longer time. Need help

Visual Studio 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010

From a development perspective, if I have a Windows 2007 Operating System and download Sharepoint Foundation 2010, can I develop web parts using Visual Studio 2010? Are there other components I need?
When we convert to SharePoint Server 2013 in production, is there a version of VS that will allow me to remotely access that server?

If your server have already installed the SharePoint Foundation 2010, we can develop web parts using Visual Studio 2010/2012/2013.
If you want to convert to SharePoint Server 2013 in production, you need use Visual Studio 2012/2013 and install Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012 which can be found here:

Date format in Direct database request

I have a report with direct database request.
I have a date prompt..I am storing the date in a Presentation Variable named pv_date.
In the direct database request, I have a where clause:
WHERE business_date IN ( @{pv_date}{'1/1/2013'} )
when I run open dashboard for the first time, its throwing me an error near TIMESTAMP.
WHERE business_date IN( TIMESTAMP ''2013-01-01 00:00:00'')
AND ALSO When I run this report from dashboard after choosing a date say 2/20/2013, I see the query as:
WHERE business_date IN (2013-02-20 00:00:00)
and hence throwing error.
Its throwing error in both the cases. How do I change the format in WHERE clause..
Ideally, I want the query to be WHERE business_date IN ('2/20/2013') or Business_date IN ('2013-02-20')

I am using Sybase and hence used convert function.
But still I see the word TIMESTAMP in the query which is causing issue.
business_date IN(CONVERT(char(10), TIMESTAMP ''2013-03-27 00:00:00'',101))
and when I run the report by choosing any date, I see this: business_date IN(CONVERT(char(10),2013-03-27 00:00:00,101)) ; throwing error because No single quoted for the date.
How do I remove the word TIMESTAMP?? and how do I impose single quotes..

Can't get my account to work

I purchased a converter product in Sept 2013 and paid $89.99. I now can't work the converter as it says I need to sign up for the product. I signed up for 1 year originally so it should still be working. I tried calling but was on hold for over 20mins and I can't get hold of anyone to help. Remove Link from image

Hi,
I have just converted an MS Word 2013 doc into PDF via the MS Word Export utility. This worked great, however, when I hover over any of the images that are part of the document, a yellow box appears showing a path to the location from where the image originated on my hard drive. I went back to the Word doc and removed all Metadata, then exported it to PDF once again, but again, the path still shows when you hover over an image. This is not restricted to the PC I used to create the doc. When I transfer the PDF file to another PC, the path still shows.
Does anyone know how to prevent this? I'm using the free Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.07

Reader can't create PDF files. You're using an internal function of Word, so your question should be asked on a Word forum.
