Convert pdf by javascript

Is it possible to use Acrobat to convert a web page (this web page with js http://funpage.it ) into a PDF and  retain some of the basic javascript functionality that previously  existed on the webpage?  Ie. Hide/Show of fields when a link is  clicked.  I'd like to be able to do this without taking any special  steps toward making the script compatible with acrobat if at all  possible.

No. Converting a web-page to a PDF is basically printing it to a PDF
printer. All interactive components will be lost.

  • How do I convert a Word hyperlink path to point to a converted PDF document?

I have a folder with Word documents that I want to convert to PDF. Many of the Word documents have hyperlinks to bookmarks in other Word documents in the same folder. (I'm trying to convert all the Word documents in the folder to PDF.) After I convert all the folder documents to PDF and click on the hyperlinks, they take me to the old Word documents. Is there a way to convert the hyperlink paths to instead take me to the converted PDF document?

The original Hyperlink path, established in the MS Word files has as the target file some *.doc file.
Edit Hyperlinks, in MS Word, to change the target file(s) to the appropriate *.pdf file.
As a guess, I'd say someone familiar with MS VB might be able to come of with something to do the change programmatically.
An alternative could be a web search for a possible Acrobat JavaScript that might do the job to the PDF files.
Failing that the job would be done manually to each Hyperlink in each MS Word file.
As to MS Hyperlinks to MS "Bookmarks" in other files.
The [ # ] character used as a parameter is not interpreted by Adobe Reader / Acrobat in the same manner as MS Office products.
Consequently, in an output PDF, the link will only open the target file. Note that MS Bookmarks within a DOC file will function in the output PDF.
    For PDF Open Parameters see:

  • How to avoid converting pdf documents to searchable text repeatedly

Can someone help me to resolve this Acrobat 8 or 9 problem.
I select a folder and initiate the conversion of all pdf documents to searchabel text (or OCR).
It works great. Next time, if I re-do the  process, some documents re-convert again. Is there a way to tell Acrobat to stop converting pdf documents that already been OCR or converted to searchabel text ??

    Hi,
Simplest -> OCR the PDF(s) prior to deployment to the production zone.
"Good" OCR can come from Acrobat or other applications (done ok with AdLib Server & Adobe's Capture Cluster - I'm sure there are others).
Typically, an OCR engine only knows how to do one thing - OCR what it is pointed to.
Perhaps a dedicated server application would provide more refined control - but that's not Acrobat's OCR engine.
    Maybe possible -
Acrobat 8 & 9 Pro each has a Preflight Custom check that can identify if text rendering mode 3 (invisible text) - Acrobat's OCR output- is present.
    Create an appropriate Preflight Profile.
Create a Batch Sequence to run the Preflight Profile.
Configure the Preflight: Batch Sequence Setup to create a report (for "On success" or "On error" or both).
Designate where the report PDF is to go.
Extract/filter the report's content to obtain a data set of what files have no text rendering mode 3 present.
Feed this data to a routine that directs/controls OCR.
"Routine" maybe possible via something with Acrobat JavaScript. Don't know.
    Maybe via an Acrobat plug-in.
Maybe to control some other OCR application(?).
(Something for a real 'gritty' codehead <g>).
Myself, I try assiduously to avoid post processing my "deployed" PDFs; particular when OCR is involved.
At the work place, for on-going, PDF "streams" to be OCRd  I and co-workers use AdLib Server.
So, the PDFs are OCRd prior to deployment.

  • Converting PDF to CCITT Tiff files

    Hello,
I have been given a programming task to convert PDFs into CCITT format Tiff files.
I an new to using Acrobat and have looked at the example code and see the following code.
    JSObj.SaveAs(fullPathTIF, "com.adobe.acrobat.tiff")
This does the conversion fine, but if greyscale or colour PDFs are converted they use a different compression type.
Is there a way to convert the PDFs to black and white before the conversion, or forcing the conversion to the desired compression type?
    thanks
    John

That is correct, because CCITT is only for black & white/monochrome images.
If you wish to convert the PDF to B&W, you can do that as well via other JavaScript APIs (as documented in the SDK).

  • Adobe acrobat java sdk is available? if yes then its  possible to convert pdf to word

adobe acrobat java sdk is available ?  if yes then its  possible to convert pdf to word(doc)

There is little interest in automating Acrobat with Java, since it cannot be run on a server. On a client workstation, OLE is available, and perhaps Java can use that.
(JavaScript is of course another story).

How to you batch convert pdfs to single page tiffs?

If you mean that you want a separate TIFF file for each page in the PDF, try using the saveAs JavaScript method in a batch process (Action): http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html

I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.

  • Need to convert pdf to word

need to convert pdf to word

    Hi gurpreetkhalsa,
To convert a PDF file to Word format, you need ExportPDF, Adobe PDF Pack, or Acrobat. Which option you choose depends on whether you need additional features--ExportPDF is the most basic option, and offers the ability to convert to Word, Excel, or RTF.

  • Need to Convert PDF to doc in Russian, why programm do not recognice it?

Need to Convert PDF to doc in Russian, why programm do not recognice it?

    Hi alsu22,
The OCR system that converts documents does not recognize any cyrillic languages, such as Russian.  If the text is already renderable (selectable), you may want to try converting your document without the OCR function enabled. You can find steps here: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3062

  • How to get page number from the PDF using Javascript

    Hi,
We are having list of Single page PDF. The pdf are named in the order,
ISBN_Author_01.PDF  (with real page number as i)
ISBN_Author_02.PDF  (with real page number as ii)
ISBN_Author_03.PDF  (with real page number as iii)
ISBN_Author_04.PDF  (with real page number as 1)
ISBN_Author_05.PDF  (with real page number as 2)
ISBN_Author_06.PDF  (with real page number as 3)
ISBN_Author_nn.PDF  (with real page number as 500)
Here each pdf has a page number and in sequential order.
The task is to check whether all the pdfs are in sequential order (i.e i, ii, iii, 1, 2, 3). If any page is missing, the script should throw an error report.
To do this task, I am writing a Javascript to get the real page number from the PDF.
Can anybody help me how to get the page number from the PDF using Javascript.
    Thanks,
    Gopal

The "real" page number within a PDF is the count of the physical page starting at 0, zero.
    pageNum numPages
The number printed on each page is the page label.
    setPageLabels  getPageLabel
You will have to open each PDF and your script would need to know the page label for that file. I would expect you would need to build a 2 dimensional  array of the file names and the page label for the page within that array.

  • I have subscribed to convert PDF to Excel and Word, I have followed your instructions and I get an error message all the time.

I have subscribed to convert PDF file to an Excel or Word . I have followed your instructions to do so but I always get an error message. I have chated with one representative who suggested that I wait 24h before I try it again implying that my subscription is in process. the time span has elapsed and when i try it, I still get the error message. HELP ME or REFUND me the money

"an error message" really doesn't tell us much.

  • Any way to help me convert PDF format to word(.doc) on Mac

Hi,guys. Is there any one tell me how to convert PDF to word on Mac?
I am a middle school teacher.Recently I have a download some PDF file need to transfer to word as material for my working. As I use Mac OS has been doubly difficult for me,beacuse I am not familiar with mac system.
So any idea helpfully would be appreciated.

There is a very simple method and doesn't require new software.
    Open a new Word document
Open the PDF in Preview (i.e., double click or right click and open with ... Preview)
Using the TEXT tool (button labeled "A') highlight the text you want to copy, then copy (i.e. Edit ... Copy, or right click .... Copy, or Command+C)
Paste the text into a Word document, and it will be editable.
If you want to copy the entire contents, you can use Command+A to select all contents, then copy and paste to Word document.
Preview actually works much better than Acrobat Professional in this respect because you don't carry over junk code from PDF.

  • PDF Watermark - logo image is not displayed in ibr converted pdf

    Hi
I have enabled pdf watermark administration and configured image watermark with rule, if the content type is document then the image watermark is to be applied but it is not displayed to the converted word document to pdf by IBR.
If i change image watermark layer to "over", then image watermark is displayed, but word are displayed under the logo image watermark, so it is difficult to study the document.
If the native file is pdf, then its image watermark is working fine.
    Thanks
    Deepak

    Hi ,
I think this could be caused by the following :
Check the factor set for Transparency and if it is completely opaque (Transparency =0%) then the converted PDF's will not show watermarks which has Layer set to UNDER.
To get the watermarks displayed PPT's will need to be set to Transparency = 100% .
The intention of the UNDER watermarking layer is that it should appear"behind" whatever is in the content layer. If the content layer completely covers the page and is opaque, then nothing behind it will be visible, including watermarks. The only reasonable solution is to check the above mentioned value before submitting the PPT's for conversion so that users are aware of this behavior for PPT's
The above description if for PPT's where in this was found to be caused by the transparency factor of native PPT . If it is a word document then check for the same setting and set to 100% , then test .
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks,
    Srinath

  • How can I convert pdf to excel in bulk?

I can only find a way to do this one file at a time, but I have dozens of pdf files that need to be converted, is there an easier way to do this??
    Thanks

    Hi alc136,
It's not possible to batch convert pdf files to excel. You need to do it individually.
It is though possible to batch create pdf from multiple files.
