Convert Stanford DG353 DS345 VI drivers V7.1

Hi!
I downloaded VI drivers for Stanford DG535 (delay generator) and DS345 (function generator) from NI driver network.
However, it is for LabView 8.0 and above. Please help me to convert them to LabView 7.1. Two .LLB are attached.
Thank you.

  • GPIB control....

As always I am not sure if I am asking this correctly, but let try.
I have a number of GPIB instruments to control.
We have the following to be controlled:
Stanford Research DS360 Ultra-low Distortion Function Generator Signal Generator
    TTi TSX3510P, power supply
    Keithley 2000 6½-Digit Multimeter
I have downloaded IVI drivers for the Keithley 2000 and I appear to have two .fp files
    C:\VXIpnp\WinNT\ke2000
    C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI\Drivers\ke2000
From CVI when loading an instrument which .fp file should I go for?
If, for example, I set the Keithley to DCV, 1V range, go do a test and come back and try to repeat the setting will it be done or will it know it is already set?
I ask as there would be a need to account for setup time, within the instrument, when the request is sent.
There are no drivers for the Stanford Research DS360, any suggestions the best course of action, let make it simple as I am a simple man with little time to implement it.
Thanks for you patience and time
    Simon

    Hello Simon!
For the Keithley 2000 IVI driver, you will want to use the *.fp file in the C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI\Drivers... folder.
In regards to the Stanford Research DS360 driver, unfortunately it's not supported.
However, it is possible to convert LabVIEW project-style instrument drivers into a C programming language driver with the LabVIEW Instrument Driver Export Wizard.  The problem is that the Standford Research srds360 driver is a LabVIEW plug and play driver, not a LabVIEW project style driver.  So, if you had a copy of an older version of LabVIEW (Version 8.0 or 8.2), you could manually transfer the files from the plug and play driver into a LabVIEW project and then export the project style driver into code that LabWindow/CVI would recognize.  We tried to do this on our end, but could not get this driver  to successfully export.  This is likely because the driver is not supported.
It would be easier to create a LabWindows/CVI driver and then submit it so that we may add it to our Instrument Driver Network.  You will want to use the LabWindows/CVI templates and the manual for the DS360 to build the driver.  To guide you, the rest of our tools are available here; you will want to find the LabWindows/CVI Plug and Play section, and I would not worry about certification since you are looking to get up and running quickly.

Got it.  I replaced the Video driver package which has an audio driver as well

    @shidevil,
This is currently a temporary workaround. The issue now is that the recommended Siig DP->HDMI converter works with the new drivers however this issue has been brought up to engineering as well and the team are working on this.
This is only a temporary workaround until engineering get this issue fixed. I will post back once a fix has been done for this.

  • Q150 DisplayPort to HDMI output FAIL

I upgraded my Q150 from Win7HP to Win7Ult and now do not get audio out through the HDMI port.  It was working with the 7HP but I've lost the capability.  I do get video out.   I have checked all the settings and downloaded and installed new realtek audio dirvers.  Still no joy.  I would guess it's a driver issue but don't know which one.  Any suggestions?

  • Network an old printer connecte dto PC on my Airport net?

I have a fantastic old HP that works like a champ and prints at great resolution. Problem is it has IEEE and not a USB connection, so I can't connet it to my AX. I tried a USB converter and several 3rd party drivers, as well as upgraded firmware, but it is still not recognized. My question is: the printer is connected currently to an XP PC that is wireless capable. Can I somehow get this printer to be networked throught he PC and, if so, HOW??? I think there is a way to do it, I just have no idea how to begin.
And I am only consideringthis because in the past two days I have bought and returned THREE different printers due to incompatibility with the AX or because they just plain didn't work--am quite frustrated with printers, esp. since I have a fabulous one right here! Any help appreciated!

I solved the problem myself! (well ... I followed instructions from ifelix: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3004.html). I set up a network on the PC--but had to change the setting from "my computer connets through a gateway" to "other" and then "my computer connects to the internet through a hub" which the XP network wizard advises against. But THAT made it visible to my G4 when I installed the printer following the ifelix instructions. Works flawlessly!
I cannot seem to access the printer with the WEP security enabled, though, so am a bit concerned about that. Any ideas?

Since you are using the termination character, you should not use the Bytes At Port property node.  Just set the number of bytes to read for the VISA Read to something really high (larger than what you expect in a single transmission).  The VISA Read will stop reading once the termination character is reached.
Now, what is the format of the data coming from the instrument?  I see you are converting an ASCII Hex string into a number while trying to also turn it into a double.  That is likely why you are getting your error.

  • "What you hear" recording volume is too

I have Soundblaster Audigy 2 on Vista 64-bit. I recently downloaded new drivers (6.0..242). This is after converting from XP and old drivers.
My "What you hear" settings work and will record using MediaSource Player, but the volume on the recorded file is about 25% the volume of the original file. This is verified upon replaying both the original and newly-recorded files side-by-side or right after one another.
When opening the Sound Panel>Recording Devices>"What You Hear">Levels, the levels are to the max and the balance is to the max for both right and left channels.
Although probably irrelevent, under Sound Panel>Playback Devices>Speakers>Levels, play control levels are max, and all other sublevels are?maxed, balanced maxed, and unmuted. (Sorry for my lack of technical description.)
I play the file on Windows Media Player and volume is maxed on the player as well. The interesting thing is when you look in the Sound Panel, the speakers show maxed volume and the "What you hear" only shows, again 25% of the volume.
Previously, I had no problems with XP and old drivers. I also was once able to revert to old drivers (which I can no longer do) and the problem went away. The difference was that the old drivers had a "Wav" level setting (under Sound Panel>Playback Devices>Speakers>Levels) where you could increase the level. These drivers don't appear to provide this setting.
Is there some setting I'm missing? Any help would be great. Thanks!

  • FM 9 hard crash saving as or printing to PDF

    Hi,
FrameMaker 9 crashes hard when printing to or saving as PDF. This is a 10-day-old installation on a new hard drive. FrameMaker 9 and Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended are all patched up. I even tried reinstalling Acrobat 9 Pro Ext using the Adobe setup installer, but that did not work.
I've tried save as PDF. I've tried printing to PDF. I've tried printing to PS. All fail using the PDF driver.
I've sent all the Framelogs to [email protected]
Sometimes I get an error log from Distiller. Here's what that looks like:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: du ]%%
    Stack:
    [/.notdef /C /h /a /f /i /k /space /R /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef
    /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef]
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Now, my PC is networked to a Xerox Phaser PostScript printer. I can use that printer driver to print a PS file that distills without any problems. This is seriously messing with my workload.
Any advice is appreciated. Off to find out how to manually uninstall Acrobat so I can reinstall everything.

    Oh
    My
    God
I have wasted two weeks of my life on this problem, and didn't believe the mythical Microsoft hotfix existed, because for some reason I couldn't download it. So, I tried every trick under the sun, emailed and called everyone I knew who had any inkling of PostScript/PDF/Framemaker, spent fruitless hours on the phone to Adobe tech support, rebuilt my whole working environment more times than I care to think about, filled innumerable hard drives with rolled-back versions of my ill-gotten source files (just in case), created n+1 virtual machines with different configurations (where 'n' is a number just less than the one that makes the LHC look back at itself from some superior point in the future and go "Ooh, you don't want to be doing that, did you, though but, isn't it, indeed to goodness?".
Finally, at 8.30 this evening, after managing to download and install the "hotfix" (mere double-quotes don't seem to do it justice, somehow), I went to the pub. and left my virtual machine rebooting for the dum-de-dumpth time, thinking whitsfully "Hmmm, I wonder what untold delights will await me upon my return?". I eventually poured myself back in front of the computer and, in rather cavalier fashion, selected File > Print from my Framemaker book file (as has been my wont for the past two weeks), using the Adobe PDF driver (not some half-baked PostScript printer driver - I don't even know where it came from), fully expecting to hear the "pumph" of doom (that ever-so-slightly-pleased-with-itself sound that accompanies the phrase "Framemaker has encountered an unrecoverable error and must quit immediately. Please abandon all hope and prepare to spend another four hours of fruitless labour trying vainly to come up with another of your brilliant-yet-ultimately-worthless workarounds)... You get the picture...
Imagine my surprise when that didn't happen. There is something magical and mystical about English beer that sets the universe to rights, apparently. Please don't let me wake up and find it's all been a dream...
I built a PDF  from a book file. I did. No, really. No crashes. No font problems. No mutterings behind the scenes. No drama. No Frame Logs. No Postscript probs. No soul-destroying, triumphal, self-satisfied, fatal-error-bearing "pumph" of doom (who the **** dreampt that one up? Remind me, when I've slept on this, to think up some extra-special, Volt-related reward). Nothing, save an exquisite, pristine PDF file. Hah!
I am a very happy, if slightly inebriated bunny. I am going to bed. To sleep, perchance not to dream about font folders, OpenType fonts converted from a Mac, PDF drivers, obscure Acrobat settings, Adobe first-line tech support, Parallels virtual machines (which drive holds the final solution?), Microsoft holographic hotfixes, Frame 7 on the Mac (oh, how I miss you, old friend - thanks Adobe for changing my life and bank balance forever), the possibility of gainful employment, the elusive nature of happiness, and the prospect of only having to worry about minor irritants like errant apostrophes.
    Joy!
I do have a hangover, but I don't care! Shall I build another PDF, just 'cause I can? Nah - that would be tempting fate. Well, maybe just a small one...
    F*** me, but it worked
    Two PDFs, 5 minutes
    Worth a haiku, no?

When you installed Palm Desktop and sync'ed for the first time, it should have asked you if you wanted to create a new username or use an existing name. You should have used the existing name that is on the Handheld.
When you create a new user in Palm Desktop and it is not the same name that is on the handheld, then Palm Desktop does not have a reference name to sync with.
Go into hotsync on the device and look in the upper right corner and it will show you the hotsync username of the device. Create a username in Palm desktop that is the same name and sync to that username in palm desktop.
Click on the link below for the support page for your device. On that page is a link for hotsync troubleshooting for the Mac. There is also a link for the Mac desktop handbook.

Well, I have used the free NTFS drivers for MacOS and they worked OK. They were a bit slow, but they got the job done. I have also used MedaFour's MacDrive8 on my Windows 7 (x86) systems with levels of success.
I have recently converted to using the Paragon drivers at the recommendation of a user here with much more experience than myself. The MacOS driver for NTFS has worked flawlessly for me, although I did notice one small incident when I re-partitioned and re-formatted a drive, where for some reason it would only allow me to enter a single character for the volume label. Once the format completed, I had no problems renaming the volume, so I'm not sure what's up there. I will have to try to reproduce this to see if it is a problem with the driver, or just a one-time weird error on my system. On the Windows side, I like how the Paragon driver integrates more seamlessly into Windows and just works. MacDrive8 was OK, but it had a few small issues for me, and the Paragon tool doesn't seem to have these same limitations. In any case, be warned that installing any HFS+ Driver on Windows will probably cause our optical disk drive letter to change. There are ways to deal with this, but it can catch you off guard if you aren't expecting it...

  • Problems with Stanford Research Sytems DS345

I'm writing a labview program that will allow operation of the Stanford Reseach Systems DS345 Function Generator. The problem that I'm having is in the amplitude calculation. The way the driver finds the amplitude is by recieving an array of what are essentially y-coordiantes (on a cartesian graph system), finding the max and min of the array, and subtracting them.
This is where the problem lies. I've designed my program so I can type in an equation, see the graph of this equation, and send the y values into a the subvi provided by the driver. This subvi is the one that finds the amplitude...etc and sends it to the oscilliscope. However, when I use a formula for something as simple as sin(x), it caclulates the amplitude as 2. This is because the max/min values of sin(x) are 1 and -1. So the function generator reads in an amplitude of 2. This amplitude of 2 results in a sine wave that oscillates between 2 and -2. Obviously, this is not what I'm looking for. I know by dividing the sine wave coordiantes by 2, or just using the max/min value to be sent to the function generator as the amplitude will work in this case, but not for all cases (ex: sin(x)*e^(-3x). I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this amplitude problem for all cases.
In addition to having this sine function, I wrote a subvi that essentially generates a series of pulses depending on the user preferences. It's relativly complicated to explain how it works, but it just sends an array of y-coordinates (similar to above, and they are sent to the same subvi to be sent to the function generator). This array is the one that truly puzzles me.
For example, I have a single pulse, with height 5. The y array is 10 places big. At index 0 to 3, the y value is 0. At 4 to 6, the value is 5. And from index 7 to 9, the index is zero again (Imagine a pulse "_|-|_" , it may help understand this).
I send this array of 10 places to the same subvi as the one described in the sine function earlier. I would expect the amplitude to go in as five (max - min), and it does. However, when determining the actual value from the oscilliscope, it turns out to be 10.8 peak to peak voltage. The values range from -.8 volts to 10 volts. I can't imagine why they do not range from 0 to five as specified in the array which is sent.
If anyone has any answers, suggestions or questions concering this description, I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to post answers or email me at: [email protected]
I'll be more than happy to post the files if someone wants to look at them.

    Hello Emilie,
Thank you for answering. I think the problem was that I had an older version of NI-VISA. I updated it and now an older version of the driver works on my computer. However, I tried to install labview 7.1 and now I get a similar problem. This is what I did:
-install labview 7.1 with driver update (NI-VISA, NI-DAQ...etc.)
-install srps3xx drivers from labview 7.1
-try out the "getting started" vi.
and then I get an error message again: which states that the program has trouble initializing the device due to "either a VISA code library could not be found or opened". I checked a bit inside the getting started vi and I noticed that the error occurs at the initialize command.
I'm not sure what to do, should I just reinstall the whole thing? (It might be possible that since I had a previous version of labview on the computer?
    Thank you.
