Converting documents to CS3 [JS]

I need to ensure that all documents that my CS3 server sees, ends up as CS3 documents. Thus I've written a small prototype script which I expect should convert all documents to CS3 .indd files:
var dir = new Folder("/spool/");
var a = dir.getFiles("cs2*.indd");
for(i = app.documents.length-1; 0 <= i; i--)
app.documents[i-1].close();
for(i = 0; i < a.length; i++) {
var f = File(a[i]);
var doc = app.open(f);
doc = doc.save(new File("/spool/cs3_" +(i+1) + ".indd"), false, "", true);
if (doc)
doc.close();
However, after letting extendScript toolkit chew on this for a while, my InDesign CS3 still shows the document as a converted CS2 document when opening the newly saved version.
What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking for a method to convert a huge batch of CS2 files to 'real' CS3 files too.
Anyone an idea to get this script running like expected?

    You free your temporary lob, but never create it.

  • Image resolution for converted documents and images

    We are converting documents from several different formats to PDF.  We have a requirement that the images must be 300 dpi when converted.  I turned off the down sampling option in PDF settings.  However, the images are all coming out at 72 dpi. So I have some questions.
    Is there a way to control the dpi of a converted image?
    How about an image embedded in a document?
    Is there any easy way to check the dpi of an image in a PDF?  The only way I've found to check the image dpi is use preflight in Acrobat.

    No good.
    I've followed the instructions 3 times to the letter and it still opens without any mention of a password request. In fairness, its exactly the same process I followed with the Google instructions so I am at a complete loss with this one.
    Maybe my Macbook is configured wrong somewhere. I'll have to take it in to the Apple Store when I can get up there and see if they can work it out.
    Thanks for the assist anyway Allan, I'm sure I'll get it working one way or another

  • How does convert document to working cmyk after adjusting in profile mismatch dialog box?

    When there`s a profile or policy mismatch dialog box here,there`s an option about adjust the document to match current colour settings.But when the assign profile doesn`t match the working space,the check box of "convert document to working cmyk after adjusting"can choose.
    But question come out,when I check the box,I find the profile auto turn to working cmyk profile,there`s nothing to do with the assigned profile I chosen.
    So when to choose this option?why not directly choose the working cmyk profile?
    some more questions.about the "placed content"option,I`m not quite catch the meaning of the options.such as "keep existing assignments"."disable all profiles"."enable all profiles".Can anybody answer me?

    If I make a document with Color Settings' CMYK policy set to Off like this:
    Save and close the doc then change Color Settings to this:
    When I open the document the mismatch dialog tells me the document has no profile assigned while the current policy is set to preserve (the Off policy meant no profile got assigned).
    Clicking Adjust... lets me change the document's policy from Off to the current Preserve Embedded and choose the profile I want to assign which can be any available CMYK profile including the current working space.
    A document's profile assignments can also be changed via Edit>Assign Profiles..., but the document's policy can only be changed from the Mismatch dialog
    If I click Adust... the profile I choose from Assign Profile is now the document's profile:
    Which is confirmed when I open Edit>Assign Profiles...

  • Opening CS2 document in CS3 Server not working,

    Hi
    I'm trying to open an InDesign CS2 document in CS3 Server, but when I do that, the Application.open() doesn't return.
    InDesignServer.exe starts working for a while, creates a lock file, but then it starts to idle and the call won't return.
    After this, I cant do anything against the server anymore, until i restart it.
    Is this a known issue? is there a solution for this?
    I'm using the Java/CORBA interface.
    Thanks
    /Niklas

    I got it working after uninstalling and installing again, and updating, but now i have another problem.

  • Is there any solution for convert document spreadsheet presentation to images with Office Web Apps?

    Hi there!
    Is there any solutions for convert document spreadsheet presentation to images with Office Web Apps?

    Hi,
    As far as I know, there is no build-in feature that convert Office file to image format in Office web app yet.
    I'll collect the information, and submit it with internal ways. Then, we could also submit the feedback here:

    It's recommended to download and install

  • Save Converted Document from Previous Version without Confirmation in CC2014?

    Hi Everyone,
    Is there a way to save a converted document from a previous version of InDesign with the same name WITHOUT the save confirmation dialog box? By a converted document, I mean that when you open a version from CS6 for example the document tab shows [Converted], and will automatically prompt with a Save Dialog when saving. I've parsed over all Preferences but may have possibly overlooked something.
    Thank you for your help!
    -TT

    If you are using OSX try this AppleScript:
    http://www.zenodesign.com/forum/ConvertToCC2014.zip
    There's a droplet and script panel version in the zip archive. It copies the chosen folder's ID files older than version 10 into an Archive subfolder then updates the files. Depending on the file size it can take some time—there's a done dialog when it completes. I would test it a few times to make sure it does what you expect.

  • Converting document files of more than 100 Mb?

    Is it true that you cannot convert document files with more than 100 Mb to PDFs because of that limit on Adobe CreatePDF?
    Is there a way of solving this problem e.g. document files with 285 Mb?

    have you tried compressing the images in the original document?  You can probably compress to 200 dpi if they are only for printing.

  • Where does the converted document get saved to?

    After the PDF doc is converted to word and I hit save, where does the saved/converted document end up?

    Wherever your browser is configured to save files to by default or the location you select.
    I would suggest searching for the file name (without extension) through Windows Search or Spotlight.
    If you're having difficulty saving the files at all, I'd suggest trying the troubleshooting steps outlined here: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1831
    Let us know how it goes!

  • Is there any way I can convert my AI CS3 Workspace to CS4?

    Is there any way I can convert my AI CS3 Workspace settings files to CS4-compatible files?

    No insult intended, and I did not mean to say your question was invalid. I simply proposed an alternate (identical outcome) question with the hopes of increasing the odds of receiving an answer to either (and both) question(s).

  • Open CS5 Document in CS3

    Help. There appears, from my limited knowledge, that there is no way to get a CS5 document into CS3 (without CS4).
    This is very bad. I have CS5 documents from customers and I can no longer open the files. CS3 does not know about .idml files and CS5 doesn't know about .inx files.
    Please tell me Adobe is fixing this! This is a huge mistake on Adobe's part just assuming that everybody upgrades to every new version. We do not have CS4 and don't have access to it.
    Please tell me Adobe is going to allow CS5 to create .inx files that can be read by CS3.
    Does anyone know anything about making this happen?
    Or, another way to get a CS5 document into CS3?
    Thanks,
    David Whitmyre

    Thaks for the perspective, Bob.
    I don't think Adobe is evil, as some certainly do.
    I think their prices are high, but hey, they make great products (my opinion). Your point about the cost per day does put things in perspective when looked at that way, but I know many who have held off, being that business has not been so good. For myself, I have upgraded every product I have used at just about every version (skipped a few). I started this "back in the day" using Pagemaker 1 on Windows ver. 2 (yea, some people have no idea that even existed!), Corel Draw ver 1, Photoshop Ver 2, Illustrator, Ventura Publisher (Xerox) ver 1, FrameMaker (when it still belonged to Frame). Fractal Design Painter, Flash, Dreamweaver, blah, blah, blah. Pretty much, you name, I've used it and upgraded it until it died. I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on software. However, as you make your point, the payback, if your are in business to make money, is far greater. I have made 100-fold back from what I have put into the purchase and upgrade of the software I use.
    I also know it it is no easy task to fix or even add new things into software. I have worked for several software companies over the years. Believe me, I know. I do also know that just about every product I have used has had the ability to downgrade a file back several versions at least. Adobe has to know that there are lots of people out there using CS3 for real-world work. And, unless they live on an island, it is likely they will be working with people who have CS5. Just sayin', seems a little too close to cut it off, even if it is because of features. Make some sort of downgrade ability.
    Just my perspective.
    Thanks,
    David

    ...Is it possible that the server at work is somehow affecting these attachments?
    I can't say, but if that's the answer, trying to get it fixed might be impossible. Instead, I'd suggest compressing your attachments to create a .zip file. Decompression at the other end would take no time, and if the server changes the attachment's file type, just change it back to .zip.

  • Where is my converted document?

    I upload the pdf document, it grinds awhile.  Then is disappears.  Where is the converted document for download?

    Do you use Reader 11 or 10.x? Did you see Converting in the info panel, and then conversion completed?
    Could you try to exit Reader, restart your system, and log in to Reader and do the conversion again?
    To see if your file got converted successfully, log in to exportpdf.acrobat.com or createpdf.acrobat.com to see if your converted document is there.
