Converting Reports 9i from RDF to JSP

Hi,
I'm going to migrate an existing very complex report from 6i to 9i. (matrix report and using ref-cursors)
The customer wants to run a paper and a web-layout.
If I open the RDF-file from 6i everything is fine. Even if I reopen this file after saving and closing it in the 9i environment I have no problem. But just when I save the RDF as a JSP-file the Report builder is not able to re-open it anymore.
After a while the rwbuilder tells me:
REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
After this the Report Builder just disappears.
If I use the Converter via menu "Tools/File Conversion" the Report Builder can load the new JSP-File but the entire Paper Layout and the
Data sources are missing. The whole code is in the Web-Layout.
I need the paper layout to create PDF-files. The web-layout is needed to create Excel-Sheets.
Can anybody help me? - Is really urgent.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Detlef,
Some issues involving ref cursor reports stored in the XML/JSP/HTML report format have been addressed in the latest 9.0.2.3 Reports Patch (Patch number 3129219). You can download this patchset from http://metalink.oracle.com. Please verify whether it addresses your problem.

    Hi ,
      You can set a element variable . While using ' write ' , you can multiply it after 'at' . For Example :
    data : i type i ,
             page(2) .
    if page = 'A3'
      i = 10 .
    else .
      i = 15 .
    endif .
    perform mywrite using 10 'abc'  .
    form mywrite using i_pos s_value  .
      data j type i .
      j = i * i_pos .
      write : at j s_value .
    endform.

  • Calling report application from jsp

    Hi,
    I am designing a JSP that captures search parameters. The user will enter words contained in a company name and product codes. This triggers the jsp to display all matches on the same page. My question is how do I call a portal report application from within the jsp and pass the parameters? Also, I would like to change the column condition relational operator for the date parameters.
    Thanks for any help,

              /local/apps/boxir2/boinstall/bobje/data/<domainname>.pageserver
              However i still have the web page error when i try to load a crystal reports document that is:

  • Advantages of using RDF  over JSP

    Hi
    1. What are the advantages if i save the reports in .rdf or .rep or as .jsp for a paper layout reports.
    2. To run the batch is it necessary to save the report as .rdf or .rep.
    3. Can we schedule these reports in Job scheduler(OEM).
    Regards
    Ranganath

    Hello Ranganath,
    1. You can save your reports either as RDF or JSP to run them to paper. Both report formats store the paper layout information. REP files are run-only report definitions, in that they are pre-compiled and cannot be edited/opened in Reports Builder.
    2. Both RDF and JSP reports can be run in batch mode.
    3. Similarly, reports in both these formats can be scheduled.
    One difference between the two formats is that JSPs are pure text files and can be opened and edited in any text editor. On the other hand, RDFs and REPs are binary format files. Further, only JSPs can be deployed on the web using the JSP engine.

  • Error While Opening JSP in Report Builder converted from RDF

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle reports 9i to convert rdf into jsp and invoke this jsp using OC4J to get HTML report.
    The problem i am facing is that while converting RDF to JSP conversion went on successfull but when iam trying to open the JSP in Report builder it gives me error REP-2: Unable to retrieve string from message file.
    When i want to see the paper layout it is not present and datamodel is also corrupted. In the data model sources for some fileds become null and one addtional group is appearing with no column in it.
    Urgent help is needed.
    For any help Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sanjay Tripathi

    Hello Sanjay,
    There are some known issues in Reports 9i due to which XML/JSP reports do not open correctly in Builder, and throw the REP-0002 error. These bugs are currently being looked into, and will be addressed soon.
    1. If your report is using ref cursor queries, and you are hitting the above error, please ensure you connect to a database before you open the report.
    2. If your report has summary/formula columns, please try to create the JSP report without these columns and then try to open it in Builder.
    Thanks,

    I am using Reports 6i. I wanted to convert my reports from rdf to rex so that I can open the rex file in a notepad and change some bolierplates. I was suprised to see that there were no boilerplates in the rex file.

    If it doesn't have boilerplates in the rex file, when I convert back from rex to rdf how does it put back the boilerplates (Labels) in the rdf file.

  • Convert report from 4.6c to 4.0b

    I want to convert report from 4.6c to 4.0B ..can somebody tell me the steps or coding i shud do for that.The output shud b same of that report.
    How can I do that??

    hi hARISH,
    what I would do is to copy the report into 4.0B (one to one) and would do a syntax check. If there are errors, I would correct. Of course if such FMs are called which don't exist in 4.0B you could be in trouble and have to look for a workaround.
    hope this helps

  • Does anyone know how to convert the output from the standard report to xml?

    Does anyone know how to convert the output from the standard SAP report to xml?

    since it a standard report which you cannot modify you can only do the following.
    submit report exporting list to memory
    then
    list from memory and then
    use the returned itab along with CALL TRNSFORMATION key word to convert to xml.
    but this only going to place the whole list content (including data and formating lines,etc) into a xml element and not the actual data alone in the list .

  • Changing the seeded rdf report output from text to PDF

    Hi All,
    I am trying to change the seeded report "Print Requisition Report" output from text to PDF. I changed the output format in the concurrent program definition from text to pdf. The report is now getting displayed in pdf format, but the alignment of the fields are changed. The output is not printing as it was printing while in the text output format. The output looks very sloppy, with uneven fonts and too much of text wrapping.
    I tried some formatting and fields are somehow getting displayed but doesnt look in proper format. I am not able to change the font style in the report builder 6i, even if i change it is printing in the same font style with uneven font size. I think reducing the font size might help, but i am unable to change.We are on 11.5.10.2. Please provide your valuable suggestions on how to go about.
    Thanks
    Sarvesh

    Hi Hussein,
    Thanks for the information. After the adjustments in the layout and the font change the report is now getting displayed without any clipping when clicked on view output. But when the same report is printed some characters on the left and and right side is getting clipped. Please help on how to solve this issue.
    Thanks,

  • Conversion from RDF to XML Publisher

    Hai,
    This is my first posting. I am presently working on XML publisher.
    1) I need to convert reports from report builder 6 to XML publisher.
    I am using the following procedure.
    1. In the Define window change the output to XML.
    2. Run the report. Save the output as .XML file.
    3. Using the XML file generate the RTF file. Do necessary change.
    4. Register in the XML publisher administrator responsibility.
    Is this the correct process of converting the reports or is there any other method or tool that can be
    used?
    2)     Can you let me know the process of converting in BI publisher latest version also?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    It looks like you have got it pretty much spot on. There are a few things that you must ensure you have done correctly in the XMLP Admin responsibility for XMLP to pick up the templates when you run your concurrent program.
    1. Locate the required Concurrent Program definition and using the COPY button at the bottom left of the form copy the Concurrent Program and give it a new NAME and SHORT NAME. The main reason for doing this is that if Oracle releases a patch that updates the original Concurrent Program, it will not affect your new custom one. Make a note our you new Concurrent Program SHORT NAME as you will need this later.
    2. Change the output of your new Concurrent Program to XML and Save.
    3. Add your new Concurrent Program to the required Request Group so it can be seen by the responsibility you want to run it in.
    4. Run the report and save the XML Output to a location on your local machine.
    5. Using the MS Word Template Builder Plug in, load you XML Data and build your RTF template. Test this using the Preview functionality in the Template Builder plugin.
    6. Login to eBusiness Suite with the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility and go to Data Template.
    7. Create a new Data Definition. The Name and Description can be anything meaningful. HOWEVER the SHORT NAME must be exactly the same as the SHORT NAME of the new Concurrent Program you have created. If this is incorrect XMLP will not be able to pick up the Data Definition when the Concurrent Program is run!! Click Save/Apply and that is that step completed.
    8. Click the Template Manager tab at the top right of the page and create a new Template Definition. Here the Name and Short Name can be anything you like. Select the name of the Data Definition you have just created. The template type should be RTF for an RTF Word template. Click Save/Apply
    9. Now run your Concurrent Program and the XMLP should automatically pick up your template and output your XMLP Report.
    There are tools available that can convert an RDF Oracle Report, these are available in the latest version of the MS Word Template Builder Plugin. These will take an RDF file and create a DATA TEMPLATE (an XML version of the RDF query), and an RTF Template (a template version of the RDF Layout).
    These can then be uploaded into eBusiness Suite in much the same way as detail above. The difference is that you have to create a new Concurrent Program and instead of using an Oracle Reports Concurrent EXECUTABLE, you use an XMLP Concurrent EXECUTABLE. This is well documented in the XMLP User Guide under Data Templates.
    I hope this helps a little. Please let me know if you are still having issues running RDF reports with XMLP.

  • XML Publisher (now BI Publisher) reports without Using RDF

    Hi All,
    We am trying to generate XML Publisher (now BI Publisher) reports from Oracle EBS reports without Using RDF.
    We have generated the required report using RDF however as we are trying to move away from RDF, we are looking for this type of solution (i.e without RDF). We simply want to use SQL query for XML output.
    I tried to generate XML output from a concurrent program which is a SQL query however the output doesn't come out in proper XML format.
    I am sure this can be done through XML publisher using pl/sql procedure. By using a procedure and using the function DBMS_XMLGEN.getxml to generate the output in XML format & storing it in a variable declared as CLOB type. The reports are running fine smaller result set but its giving error "Value or Numeric Error' for larger resul set. Following is the way i am using the function:
    select DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXML('select * from dual') into result from dual;
    Where result is declared as CLOB Type.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks.

    I used a different approach.
    I registered a concurrent program with executable as XDODTEXE and output as XML.
    I added a XML data definition (which contains my SQL query) on XML Publsiher admin and Registerd a template against that XML data definition.
    This solved my problem.
    Thanks all.

  • Crystal report viewer from portlet

    Hi,
    I have a problem with opening Crystal report viewer from portlet. I am using Spring portletMVC but this doesnt matter in this case. After clicking some button a controller process form in method where is access to ActionRequest, ActionResponse. But how can I "redirect" with some parameters to plain JSP page where I can write something like this:
    CrystalReportViewer viewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
         viewer.setReportSource(rcd.getReportSource());
         viewer.processHttpRequest(request, response, getServletConfig().getServletContext(), out);
         viewer.dispose();
    Oh, perharps is understandable, sorry for my English and thanks for helping. Any code of link would be wonderful.

    I haven't worked with Crystal Reports in quite awhile, but in the past I've written code to launch Crystal Reports using OLE. If I recall correctly, there existed an ActiveX control that could be embedded into VB forms, and the like. I'm unsure, however, whether they continue to support this mechanism. Given that your requirements do not allow CLIENT_HOST or DDE, however, I am guessing that OLE automation would also be unacceptable.
    Have you looked at WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT?

  • Custom report instead of standard standard report "EAMWRREP" from OAF

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to fire a custom report instead of standard standard report "EAMWRREP" from OAF.
    Screen -> EAM Self Service Maintenance -> Work Orders -> Search Work Orders -> Print Work Order
    Standard page ->WorkOrderRepPG 120.2
    Standard Controller -> WorkOrderRepCO
    I have extended the standard controller to override the call
    as shown below :
    Standard WorkOrderRepCO :
    oapagecontext.putParameter("p_DataSourceCode", "EAMWRREP");
    oapagecontext.putParameter("p_DataSourceAppsShortName", "EAM");
    Extended :WorkOrderTestCO
    oapagecontext.putParameter("p_DataSourceCode", "USS_EAM_WO_OAF");
    oapagecontext.putParameter("p_DataSourceAppsShortName", "XP2P");
    The custom report gets fired with header and footer but with NO DATA.
    The custom report is a simple RDF+XML report (RDF data model + XML template)
    with just query SELECT wip_entity_name from wip_entities where wip_entity_id = : WipEntityId
    Can some one please let me know how to pass parameters to a report likne mine??
