Converting TableSpace : Normal  to Large

Hello,
I have a SAP R/3 470 - DB2 9.5. A few years ago was migrated from DB2 8.2 to 9.5, but Tablespace not been converted to LARGE.
Today I have one Tablespace (PRD#BTABD) that is near the limit of growth (64GB).
I have the following questions:
1 - What are the steps to convert only that Tablespace? Can I convert one tablespace only?
2 - I need to organize indexes and tables afterward? How to do this?
3 - I have three environments: DEV - QAS and PRD. Converting only Tablespace  PRD#BTABD in the environment PRD, could have problems with transport requests or client copy?
thanks

Hi Johannes ,
So to avoid the SQL1236N scenario, first I convert the Tablespaces PRD#BATABD and PRD#BTABI and then run reorg on all tables of these tablespaces.
Running reorg these tablespace is already rearranging the indices. OK?
I'm following the procedures of the link http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0702nesiem/
Q. Do I need to run the REORG INDEXES first and then REORG TABLE?
A. The table REORG performs the reorganization of the data and the indexes on the table. An index REORG is not required after this action. Bear in mind the table REORG That takes more time and must be Performed offline. An index REORG Might be sufficient depending on the expected growth of the table
doubt:
Since I convert the Tablespace PRD#BTABD and PRD#BTABI and run reorg on tables these tablespaces, I do not need to convert all the other SAP tablespaces. OK?

  • Problem converting XPS document with large images

    Hi,
When I try to convert XPS documents to PDF in Acrobat 9.0 Pro, I have problems with "large images". They are either truncated or scaled down. The only images that convert correctly are small images that are not stretched to fill a large area. Attached to this message is a simple example. Does anyone know a way to correct this problem? By the way, the page is slightly larger than the standard Letter size.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion! In fact, I am the programmer who creates the XPS files from a .NET document. Our company used the method "Postscript + PDF" during a few months and it worked quite well. Recently, we introduced semi-transparent objects and fonts in our documents and the resulting PS prints look really bad. Since I can create a perfect XPS document, and since Acrobat can convert it to PDF, I gave it a try. It solved all the problems that I had with PS printing but there is that thing with images... Anyway, since Acrobat converts XPS to PDF, I guess they should try to solve the bug with the images. As for me, I will see if I can get a component to create PDF documents directly from our application.

  • DNG-converted 10D files too large, not recognizable in Aperture

[I've posted this message in the Adobe DNG forums after doing some searing around for an answer. I thought some others here might be doing the same thing and could comment]
While importing some of my older Canon 10D-shot images into Aperture, I noticed something curious about the DNG-versions of the files. They're much larger than I would expect and Apple's Core Image processor doesn't appear to be able to read them. For example, on one file the original CRW file is 5.3MB. The DNG conversion without the embedded original is 17.4MB. This is consistent across all my 10D converted files.
Apple's Preview app, as well as anything else based on the Core Image processing code, can't read the DNG, but it can read the original CRW. I know that Apple has botched parts of the DNG specification, but since the converted DNG is twice the size I would expect it to be, this seems like it might be a problem with the DNG converter itself. Anyone else seeing this with rev 3.2 of the converter?
BTW, the files open up in ACR just fine.
    G5 1.8G SP, 1.5M RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sorry for the noise. It turns out that my prefs had gotten munged overnight when the DNG converter crashed and had returned to one of my test configurations where I was converting the RAW files to linear. Aperture, as is well understood, doesn't handle the de-mosaiced format well at all.
    This was user error.

  • Why my applsys tablespace is so large?

now my applsysd and applsysx tablespace are larger than 7G,who can tell me if there are some problem?thanks!

The "e.g." is aimed at the possibility that the object extents are oversized vis-a-vis number of rows, etc.
Do any of the objects (tables/indexes) standout in terms of being significantly larger than the others.
You may also want to take a look at dba_extents. The file_id column relates to dba_data_files. This should allow you to see what objects have extended into the newer files.
Also, there are some tables (with assoc. indexes) that reflect activity. Are you running the concurrent processes to purge concurrent requests and/or signon audit data ?

  • Convert MP3 to a larger file size?

    Hello,
I recently imported a CD into iTunes in MP3 format. I then changed my import settings to a higher quality. When I did "create MP3 version" of the song I just imported it created a LARGER file! How is this possible and what kind of "fluff" is iTunes putting into the MP3 when you try to convert a MP3 to a higher quality setting?

Actually "fluff" is a pretty good description! It takes the compressed file that you started with and re-encodes the same audio information into more bits. Needless to say, that does not improve the quality.
Once the MP3 (or AAC) compression has happened, padding it out to a higher bit rate does not add quality. The reference to "quality" in the bitrate means that if you rip from the source CD using a higher bitrate, less audio compression is needed and you get a higher quality result.
If you want better quality audio files, re-import from the source CD using the higher bitrate.

  • How do I convert a word file larger than 100 mb to pdf?

I use the adobe online pdf service to convert word files.  I have a file that is 101mb and the converter won't upload and convert the file. How do I convert this word file to pdf now?

    Hi adrentcdc,
There is a 100 MB file-size limit for uploading to the Adobe PDF Pack online service. Since no such limitation exists for Acrobat, you could use that to convert the file to PDF. You're welcome to download a free  30-day trial, and give it a spin. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Tablespace growing too large

    Good morning gurus,
Sorry if I sound novice at some point .

    Hi..
Please do mention the database version and the OS.
You need to know what are the objects, object_types on such a big tablespace.Which schemas use it waht do they do.Do they do any kind of DIRECT Loading in the database. Are all the tables and the indexes on the same tablespace. What i feel is, you are having all the tables and the indexes on the same tablespace.I would recommend 2 things:--
    1. Do the data purging.Talk to the considered applications team,or who so ever is the concerned person, and the decide data retention period in the database and move the rest of the data to some other database as history.
    2. Keep different tablespaces for the tables and indexes.

  • Tablespace Percent Used Displays Incorrectly for Large RIDs?

    Hello,
After converting the ODSD tablespace to accomadate Large RIDS, the percent used column displayed in ST04/db6perf is incorrect.
This tablespace can now grow to 16tb, yet displays 92% full at 276gb.
Also the Early Watch lists the growth as critcal.
I opened an OSS message(721687) concerning these issues and the response was
"There is nothing wrong in the calculation of 'Percent used' in db6perf
it works as expected" per Kieran Finn

The problem is that I am using that release already.
    This is on platform
    SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 (basis 14)
    Operating System AIX 5.3
    Database IBM 09.01.0002
Has anyone else encountered thses issues and have any suggestions?

    Hi Yvonne,
If you have the need to monitor the growth of your tablespaces in that way, that you want to know, whether the tablespace filling becomes critical, you should look at the alert monitor under 'Alert->Alert Monitor'  or the database monitor under RZ20. This will take into account the autoresize property of tablespaces. This feature has been recently added with SAP note 1149240.

  • Convert Normal Table to Partition Table

    Hi All,
I have a Normal Table with Millions of records and I want to convert that Normal table to Hash Partition Table.
Please let me know how to do that.
    Thanks in Advance
    Elan

Didn't see the exchange partition example, yes its the best practice I also agree.
If your table's data is huge better to do it with CTAS(create table as select) since this ddl can be parallel and nologging.
After creating the new partitioned table you may rename old one with its all dependencies; indexes, triggers, constraints, grants etc. So it would better to get the ddl of the heap table first with dbms_metadata.
    Best regards.

  • Check and identify cause of previous temp tablespace usage

    Hi
Our production ERP database is on solaris and on version 9.2.0.8.0. The application tier and database tier are on two separate nodes.
Recently we observed that the temporary tablespace is being consumed more on a particular day. While monitoring the database,we observed the free temp tablespace was less and hence added 10gb space to it. However within 5-6 hours this space was utilised and certain requests/jobs failed due to no space in temp. This happened on 04th December 2012. Though the situation returned to normal post that,we need to find the cause of consumption of temporary tablespace in such large volumes. We are on 9i database and hence tried identifying the queries through statspack report as no views in particular exist for 9i.
We came across many queries which would help us identfy the current temp usage, but in 9i,we didnot find anything which would guide us on the historic temp tablespace usage. Can it be found via statspack? If yes, what exactly to check for in it? Request you to all please advice. Thanks.

  • 5D MarkII RAW files balloon when converted to dng

I'm shooting with the 5D MarkII which offers three levels of RAW file capture. For me, the middle size (SRAW1) is a good choice producing a CR2 file of approximately 10-11MB. But when I convert these to dng, the file size explodes--doubling, in fact, to about 22MB! I thought conversion to dng typically results in a smaller file size and it does with every other camera I've used. But with the MarkII it's almost as if the dng conversion reverses the file size reduction I wanted by choosing the SRAW1 setting in the first place. I'm stumped. What am I missing here?

The sRAW1 file close to doubled as a result of the conversion while the RAW file became marginally smaller. Is the smaller cr2 file size of sRAW1 or sRAW2 dwelt with in a different way to the cr2 RAW file by the dng converter resulting in a larger file ?
The RAW image contains a single pixel value for each pixel; this is 21 Mpix x 14bits, losslessly compressed.
The SRAW image is in a hybrid format; it is not truly raw any more. It is raw only in the sense, that the colors are in the camera's color space and WB has not been applied yet, but otherwise it has nothing common with the original raw format. It is demosaiced, i.e. the pixels have three color components. However, not each pixel has three separate color component: adjacent pixel pairs are sharing two of the three color components.
This format is Canon specific, DNG does not know such format. The nearest format in DNG is the "linear" image, which is demosaiced and each pixel has its own three color components. Thus the amount of data is much more in the DNG linear format than in the sRaw format. Of course, this does not represent any enhancement of the image quality, the DNG converter can not really add to the image content.
Pls convert one normal raw image of your 5D2 in linear format (click on Change Preferences, then double-click on Custom and select Linear demosaiced). You will see, that the result will be much-much larger (in fact about three times larger) than the original raw file was.
The question is if it is really useful in your situation to convert the 5D2 raw files. Valid reasons are:
    1. you are working with PS CS3 (or even earlier version), thus your version of ACR does not support the 5D2 native raw files,
    2. you want to avoid the XMP files with the adjustment parameters, and this is so important for you that you are rather multiplying the file size. If you are performing sophisticated adjustments and you want to save them as well, then you have to backup a 20some MB file instead of 5-10 KB of the XMP file.

i am on windows 8 platform, i used adobe elements to work on my image - the output is in dng format, how do i convert this to jpg format?

When you make a DNG that's like making another raw file, so you will need to convert the DNG file just like your original raw. Don't use the Save button in the raw converter. That's just a link to the DNG converter. Normally you would click Open instead and then save in the editor as a jpg or other image format of your choice.
