Converting video to Flash with controls

I want to take video from a DVD and turn it into a Flash
movie so I can use
it on a web page. I would like it to have the controls for
playing and
pausing. What would be the easiest way to do this? Is there
certain software
I should be looking for?
Thanks
Debbie

Certain software other than Flash? have you read the help
docs regarding the FLV (Flash Video)
format? There's an entire section of this site dedicated to
how to incorporate Flash video into your
website:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/video.html
Also, go here:
http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/
select Flash and then narrow it down to FLV - there are
several video tutorials from Richard Galvan
to watch.
hope this helps.

  • Batch process video to swf with controls??

    Hi,
I have hundreds of QT videos that I need converted to .swf
video WITH control bar and a watermark logo.
I can batch process them to .flv using the Media Encoder, but
I need them to be .swf in order to use them in Director 2004MX.
Plus, I don't see where I can add a watermark using Media Encoder.
    I have CS3 and CS4 Master Collections so I assume there's got
to be SOME way to do this batch processing.
I did a few sample tests in Flash, bringing in the .flv file,
attaching one of the prebuilt skins, adding a layer for the logo
watermark, then exporting to swf. It works beautifully in my
Director project. But to do this process 500 times would take
    forever.
Any advice on how to batch to .swf video with control bar and
    watermark would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    -Karen

Thank you Heathrowe I appreciate it.
I guess as far as using the hotspot slicer in Fireworks, if I
export to an SWF it doesnt make that a clickable section in the SWF
file. Oh well. Would be a nice feature in the next version of
    Fireworks.

    Hi,

  • How to export and/or converting video to flash

I'm having a problem finding a way to make a flash video file. I'm using FCE 3.5 and cannot seem to export my video to be a flash video file. Is there a way to export with FCE 3.5 to flash?
Also since I've been having this problem, I thought I could perhaps export my video as a mov file, and then convert it to a flash file, but I haven't had much luck finding a way. Quicktime pro doesn't seem to do it. Is there a way to convert mov files to be a flash video file?
I appreciate any help in letting me know what my options are and/or steps to achieving those. Thanks.

You need Flash itself or a .mov to .swf converter. You can google to find the converters. ffmpegx can do it.

  • Converting video to Flash

I need to get right up to speed on this issue. So, does anyone know a website that has what I need to know, and what is the simplest most efficient program for either exporting from FCP to flash, or a converter from QT to Flash.
Also, for those in the know - what is the average meg per minute of footage ratio I should be heading for?
I am looking to display video in the size of about 4inch by 3inch or there abouts.
I have considered using QT, RM or WMV files instead of Flash, but feel Flash has much greater acceptance rate among viewers.
    Thanks - (flash newby)

The latest version of Flash 8 Professional comes with an FLV encoding application. It works very well and allows you to choose between the older Spark CODEC or the new higher quality FLV CODEC.
Flash standard will not have this application. I use the Macromedia Studio which does have it and strongly recommend it for anyone doing such work. If you are not a Flash user, just provide the file in DV or DV50 and have the Flash developer run the encode. Most Flash developers prefer this since they can make several versions (for different connection speeds).
FLV is an extraordinary format that will eventually act as a direct competitor to QuickTime, Windows Media and Real. It is built in to the Flash 8 plugin and is completely cross platform. I would strongly recommend using it in sites where a 30+MB download for QuickTime Installer is asking too much. The quality of the FLV encoder is roughly equivalent to Apple's MP4 or Windows Media 9. 3ivx MP4 and H264 are much better, but only work through QuickTime. The SPARK CODEC is older and much lower quality but more people have the older Flash plugin, so it's a tradeoff.

  • Embedding youtube video in flash with as2 - problem with black bars

I have successfully embedded the youtube video in my flash code with:
//create area to put youtube video on screen
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("reason1_video", 10000);
    reason1_video._xscale = 60;
    reason1_video._yscale = 60;
    this.reason1_video.loadMovie("http://www.youtube.com/v/PUt7Kw9Q_Qc?hd=1");
However, the video plays with black bars on top and bottom even though it plays without those directly from youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/parallelic#p/c/258EA3637F3467BD/7/PUt7Kw9Q_Qc
Even if I take off the scaling, it still has the black bars. How do I get rid of them?

So basicly your putting a video in to your flash project

  • Converting video to flash file (newbie ?)

Hi I was trying to convert an 14 mb mpeg 4 video file to an FLV file using the flash encoder.  The resulting flash file to my surprise was 18 MB
I was expecting a very small file that I could post on the web.  Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong.  Im using the CS3 version.
I also need to convert .MOV files.  Do I need a separate conversion software tool?

Sorenson Squeeze has a "watch folder" option, so they
probably have it set up to automatically convert from the upload
    folder into a destination folder.

  • Converting Video to FLash 8

I am trying to use Flash 8 video encoder to convert some mpg
and avi files to use in a web site. when i try to convert, and i
click to look at the advanced options, i see that the software
cannot encode the video. this doesn't happen when i am using a
quicktime file. is there something i need to do different

Maybe your codecs are messed up, and the AVI & MPEG
containers are using a different codec not supported by the
    converter.

  • Convert video not compatible with QT7 to use in iMovieHD

Unfortunately sometimes I just have my photo camera and I need to record a video.
It records .mov files with m-jpeg codec 320*240 15fps at aprox. 2000 kbps.
These files are compatible only with QT 6 but not in QT7 or later. I have search about this and I find no solution (just more people with the same problem).
The only solution I found is to convert the files to another format.
The only applications I can use are ffmepx (with some settings) and movieconverter (it converts just to DV or DVD). mpegStreamclip does fail in every export setting.
What will be a good workflow with those files for importing in iMovieHD and then to iDVD?
1.- Convert to DV with movieconverter
2.- Convert to H264 with ffmpegx. In this case: keeping the original resolution of 320*240? and 15fps?
    3.- Any other suggestion?
As an added problem sometimes I have to turn the video 90º. So I need first convert and then open in mpegstreamclip and export again and turn. Can I achieve this without having to convert it two times.

I am trying to import some random videos and get a message "not compatible" - how do I convert these videos?? They are NOT from my video camera, but downloaded.
Unlike previous versions of iMovie, iMovie '08 does not convert "Finder" level files as part of the import process since it cannot tell in which compression format you may wish to edit. Thus, if a file is not "edit" compatible, then it will not be imported. The normal approach is to open your file in the QT Player and examine the file using the "Inspector" and/or "Properties" window to determine how the file must be changed to make it edit compatible. For instance, the audio and/or video track(s) may be incompatible or an extraneous track may be present which "confuses" iMovie '08. "Muxed" files, for instance, must be demuxed and then have audio and video content be converter to temporally synchronized compression formats which can be edited at the "frame" level. Sometimes only the audio content needs to be converted to make the clip compatible. In these cases, it may be possible to easily convert the audio without having to to re-compress the video which is more time consuming and/or may introduce additional artifacts. In still other cases, the file may contain an extraneous track (e.g., a "Tween") which and be deleted or stripped without having to perform any conversion. Therefore, how to "convert" a file for the "best" quality may depend on what needs to be done to make it compatible and/or which application is best suited for the job.
Having said all this, can you examine your downloaded files and break them down in specific problem types and give some idea as to your goals/needs -- i.e., are you most interested in conserving drive space, conversion efficiency, or quality?

  • Need video recording app with control over microphone sensitivity

Everybody is talking about sharing video's but it looks like nobody is making those video's while I hear nobody talking about Recording video's.
I record now and then at concerts. I have the problem that while I record an video the incomming sound is to loud. When you replay the recorded movie the sound is sounding like the distorition effects of an gitar, to loud.
Does anybody know an video recording app for the iPhone 3GS where I can adjust the strongness of the incomming sound?
    Regards,
    Ton van Leeuwen
    The Netherlands

The audio was likely distorted bacause the phone is designed for recording local voice sounds, not loud constant concert sounds, I'd guess that any audio compressor or automatic gain control present in the phone simply gets overwhelmed by the lack of normal speech patters present in a loud concert. I dont think a third party microphone would help.
The video orientationis set when you press record, so if you hold the phone in portrait when you start recording and then turn it to landscape and make the video, when you play this back on a computer, the video will be on it's side. The phone does not autoswitch while recording. The difference between the two modes is pretty obvious but if you are striggling to work it out, shoot a couple of brief tests in each mode and watch them on your computer, not on the iphone.

  • Converted video (with NVM) plays only 40 % in rpla...

After converting video (WMV -> mp4) with Nokia video manager, it plays only the first 40% of the video in reaplayer om my nokia E71. Audio continues , but video freezes . Have tried it with 2 videos with different length (1hr:08 and 38 minutes) both stopped at 40% of the video length. ffwd beyond 40% wont work and skips back to a couple of seconds before 40%. Both movies are > 90 Mb
Anyone else having this issue and know a solution ?
    Thanks

This happens a lot with PC Suite's video manager, the best choice is to convert them separately then transfer to the phone. I have been using WINAVI (http://www.winavi.com/) for a couple of years to convert various formats to 3GP and MP4 without any problems. It's not free, but my copy has more than paid for itself over the time I've had it...

  • Converting swf to flv with flash video encoder

    Hi...
I have a couple of questions please... I have managed to put some captions on a video file and would now need to get this video back into flv format to put it online;..I tried with the cs3 video encoder but it wouldn't let me.... So my questions are:
    1. Is it actually possible to convert my swf file into flv with cs3 video encoder ...which would be logical as it is a flash file...
    2. What is the best option I Have to convert my swf file with captions without losing the captions...
Many thans for any clear help as I am not a code guru....
    Regards
    Flav

    Hi Vlaf (Flav),
the main thing for converting a flash swf into a flv is to make sure that the timeline is not embeded inside a moveclip (meaning that the timeline of the movie is on the MAIN timeline....and not nested somewhere else.
if this is right, then it should export correctly. If it still fails with the Encoder....try an alterative encoder caller "Super"(its free)...and does a great job!
unless specified by your client or target advert host, always try to use a minimum of 30 frames per second and you should be good to go.

  • Problem with video blinking/flashing when Observing/Controling

I have noticed recently that whenever I Observe or Control an Aluminum iMac, the video blinks/flashes which obviously is very annoying. Any other Mac this does not occur. Any ideas what might be happening?

I just discovered turning off "Fit to Screen" gets rid of the flashing or blinking display issue when observing or controlling another Mac. Weird...
