COPA in ECC

Hi All,
Can anyone please clarify me following:-
Is COPA a cube in "ECC"?
Our client needs data for consolidation purposes in Kahlix. Should we send it from ECC or BI. What should be the right strategy?
Thanks

Hi,
The prime objective of COPA- Profitability Analysis enables you to evaluate market segments, which can be classified according to products, customers, orders or any combination of these, or strategic business units, such as sales organizations or business areas, with respect to your company's profit or contribution margin.
The aim of COPA system is to provide your sales, marketing, product management and corporate planning departments with information to support internal accounting and decision-making.
CO-PA comes under APPLICATION SPECIFIC -> USER DEFINED DATA SOURCES.
There is no bussiness content data source for CO-PA because it is based on OPERATING CONCERN and it is different from one company to another.

In BW there are 3 Infocube's:
CO-PA: Published Key Figures
CO-PA: Quickstart (S_GO)
CO-PA: Route Profitability (S_AL)

  • BW COPA without ECC COPA module

    Hello,
What are the limitations if I implement a COPA modelisation in BW without COPA module in ECC. I have these modules implemented in ECC :
    - FI-GL
    - FI-AR
    - FI-AP
    - FI-AA
    - CO-PCA
    - CO-PC
Is it possible to make allocation cycles in BW in this case ?
    Thanks for your help.

  • COPA : Accounting Based and Costing Based

    Hello Guru's,
We are on ECC 6.0 and BI 7.3. Our customer is going to implement Accounting based COPA and Costing based COPA in ECC. We have a requirement to have both the Accounting based and Costing based COPA analysis  available in BI.
    My questions and concerns:
If we configure both type of COPA in ECC then Can we create both type of data sources also in ECC  ? one for Accounting based COPA and one for Costing based copa ?  If yes then do we need to have 2 infocubes in BI  or one infocube with mapping of both the data source will work ? ... do please correct me or suggest me.

    Hi Sridhar,
Thanks for your reply, can you explain if we want to stop one of the method, what is the steps that need to be done?

  • Replacing SAP ECC COPA Table

    Hi,
we have implemented the SAP Best Practices for BI V4.31 (note 1475029).
One of the dashboards is Profit and Loss. It uses a couple of CR reports for data extraction for the SAP ECC.
In the report is a connection to a COPA table CE11102. In our environment this table is CE11000.
In CR / Database export I can change the name of the COPA Table from CE11102 to CE11000 but CR doesn't recognize our COPA table.
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Wiebe

    Dear Ingo,
so you would like to replace one table of the delivered All in One report with a table from your system ?
Yes I have implemented almost all the CR reports and Xcelcius dashboards.
    But...
When I update the database connection for the CR reports with a CO-PA table and other tables (like MARA, T023T and TVKOT) all the tables will connect to our environment exept the CO-PA table.
    Please advice.
    kind regards,

    HI Experts,
We are using ECC 6.0 and our client wants to archive data from COPA table's CE1XXXX,CE3XXXX and CE4XXXX. We are not using COPA planning.
Need your suggestions and step by step process  to follow to archive the data from the above mentioned COPA tables. Also suggest is there any SAP note is required to apply for this activity.

  • Open Orders and COPA Cube

    Hi,
I have a specific requirement, where we want to add open orders from sales to the existing COPA cube and also we want Existing Open order/sales pipeline reports in SAP to be moved into BI.
Can any one help me on how to go about this and what should be the best apporoach to achieve this task.
Any help technically and functionally will be very helpful
    Regards
    Vishwanath

    Hi Viswanath,
You can evaluate Open orders using datasources 2LIS_11_V_ITM and 2LIS_11_V_SCL.
We extract COPA data by creating a datasource using trasaction KEB0. This datasource would be based on tables CE1**** to CE4****, where **** is the name of the operating concern. These tables get generated when the functional consultants create the operating concern in ECC. What data flows into these tables is controlled by the rules set by the functional folks. Unless the data that you need exists in these tables, you cannot get it otherwise using the datasource. You would need to check in the tables whether the data needed exists there.

  • COPA vs New GL

I am looking for feedback regarding reporting, as we are trying to finalize our reporting design.
I am working with a SAP shop that uses COPA and FICO in R/3 (4.6C release) and BW3.5 and are upgrading to ECC and BI 7. As part of their project we have a desire to gain the ability to do ad-hoc analysis on "business line".
    They have 3 business lines - A, B, and C.
Right now the project does not intend to have a "business line" field in the New GL and does not intend to use the New GL segment field.
As I am working with the reporting team, I have been involved with discussions about FI/CO reporting. In such discussions we address how we will be able to do this "business line" ad-hoc analysis.
As a result of these discussions, we have addressed two topics: (1) we will be able to do this analysis in COPA but for contribution margin only and (2) we will have different accounts in FI for this kind of analysis i.e. different revenue accounts for business lines A, B, and C different cost of goods sold accounts for business lines A, B, and C  etc.
I see limitations for ad-hoc analysis based on the current intention not to have a "business line" field in the New GL and not to use the "segment" field of the New GL.  As I see it, we can either do data transformation in BI (which I believe we should keep to a minimum), do jump queries from New GL queries to COPA queries, or filter New GL queries by groups of accounts.
For example, one view of the accounts is a hierarchy as follows
    Revenue
        Revenue Line A
        Revenue Line B
        Revenue Line C
    COGS
        COGS Line A
        COGS Line B
        COGS Line C
    etc.
    ...and another hierarchy
    Line A
         Revenue Line A
         COGS Line A
         etc
    Line B
         Revenue Line B
         COGS Line B
         etc
    Line C
         Revenue Line C
         COGS Line C
         etc
Thus we would be able to filter by business line without having a business line or segment field.
I have proposed using either a custom field for "business line" in the New GL or using the segment field in the New GL.
I have chosen to prototype with a custom field.  In the prototype, this custom field is populated via an FI substitution which reads the FI field for profitability segment, goes to the COPA table which stores the profitability segment definition, and reads the definition in order to do the FI substitution for the custom field.
I am now working on the FI substitution approach for the business line field when the posting happens for the delivery (posting COGS to FI).
Have any of you tried such an approach or similar approach?  Look forward to hearing any feedback anyone may have.

Comparing CO-PA and the New GL is like comparing apples and pears.
They perform different types of reporting.
If you are going to use BI7, I would recommend that the majority of reporting is performed there.
If you have CO-PA currently, I presume you have the correct level of characteristics to move forward.
The new GL, via document splitting will allow you to run balancing balance sheets, by profit centers. This could add value to your organisation.
It sounds to me that the answers will come out of workshops.
You need to starting a reporting business stream project, where all levels of users provide a wish list for the types of reports they require.
From there your team of Finance Consultants and BI Consultants should be able to advise where the reports should sit, CO-PA, New GL, or BI
It may be worth bringing in a Specialist Consultancy to help you with the design phase.

  • Running multiple copies of an App on one NetWeaver server

Hi there,    (V12 with ERP/ECC transactions)
We are setting up our landscapes/environments for development, beta testing, final QA and production.  I am wondering if we can combine development and beta testing on the same system.
The obvious concern is that they will have copies of the "same" transactions.  If we don't do anything special, the data source name is hard coded in the transaction and as we are on the same MII server, they can't point to different data sources unless we edit the transactions.  Is there a way to have a transaction use a configuration of some sort to dynamically specify the actual data source?
Are there any other issues attempting to do this?
    Thanks,
    --Amy Smith
    --Haworth

    Thanks Jeremy,
    Thanks for the suggestion Jeremy.
Our server is not capable of another instance.  It is not easy to get our SAP Basis people to install and configure a new system and we are not allowed to do it ourselves.  I was trying to find a way to use our existing instance of NetWeaver/MII to run multiple copies of the application.  In J2EE apps I have worked on, it is as simple as copying the software, changing the URL, changing the application config files for the data source and deploying the new duplicate app under a different name.
Seems that in MII the transaction "hard" links the data source name to the data source definition and that link is not dynamically configurable.  Would that be a fair statement?
    Thanks again,

  • IM (Inventory material) is failing in ECC 6.0 upgrade from SAP R/3 4.7

    Hello,
We are working on Technical upgrade project (SAP R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 EHP 6) for one of our Client.
when we are trying to create a purchase order (ME21N) in upgraded system (ECC 6.0), the field  IM Material is failing to accept the internal material values from MATNR field. After entering the IM material, the value immediately got disappeared and it needs some workaround to get the material back in to the IM field along with MPN material.
It was working fine (accepting Internal material) in R/3 4.7, if we give a valid internal material, it immediately get copies to the field IM Material.
In case of ECC 6.0, it is completely failing.
Please suggest if you have come across any solution?

  • Do not want to Post to COPA

Can someone please explain the value flow between FI/SD and COPA?
We want to stop certain type of Misc. Debit Memos  from posting to COPA. A manual pricing condition is mapped to a COPA value field. The GL account used for posting this kind of Debit memos (the GL account assigned to Account Key in VKOA) is already removed from the cost element group which  was assigned to PA transfer structure frm FI.
Does anyone have some idea what other settings we need to be change so the Debit Memo does not do a posting to COPA. Is the posting happening due to the mapping of  Manual Pricing condition to the COPA value field? Do we need to remove it to stop the posting to COPA?
We are on ECC 6.0. Does the posting go to COPA at the time of Sales Order creation or Billing document creation?

    Hi,
You need to delete mapping of Manual Pricing condition to the COPA value field as that is also one of the main component through which value flows from SD to COPA.
But I am agree that if you don't consider your some of the debit memos to flow to COPA, then you will not be in a position to get clear picture in COPA as per your FI P&L. Actually your FI and COPA P&L (Generally you develop in COPA as per your required structure of P&L) will not be tallied.
Pls consider the same before removing the same assignement from PA transfer structure and assignment from COPA value field to SD condition type.

  • Scenarion of Delta Load problem in COPA Extraction

Please get me the solution for this particular scenario.
Let us suppose that i created the datasource some 1 year back and running the deltas successfully since then.
Let us number the requests from 1,2,3... and so on since 1st jan 2009. And let us suppose each request loads
some 1000 records everyday from ECC to BI.
Now on 10th august some change was made to ECC( such as change in the User Exit ) that caused the mismatch in number of data records ( loading only 950 records ) since the change was made on 10th August. But I identified the problem on 17th august with request number 160. Let us say those request numbers are 153(10th),154(11th),155(12th),156(13th),157(14th),158(15th),159(16th),160(17th). I fixed the program in ECC on 17th and further the requests from request number 160(17th) are fetching the correct number of data records. Now I need to delete the data in BI for request numbers 153 till 159 since they are not reconciling the data of ECC with BI. Now  we reload the deltas for such requests from ECC to BI. So how do I reload the deltas now in this scenario since ECC system keeps track of the last delta ie.. on 17th august(Req no 160). But how do I Load the deltas from req number 153 to 159 from ECC to BI.
One proposed solution to this problem was setting the timestamp of COPA to 10th august. But it is not advised to set the timestamp for COPA datasources using the KEB5 transaction in a production system.
Now in this scenario how do I load the request numbers 153 to 159 from ECC to Bi to fetch the correct data records for that period. Please propose a solution for this problem ASAP. U can also call me back whenever u need.
    Thanks in advance

As stated in a previous post...
How you choose to do this can be summed up by the question: Does the target for this data have cumulative or non-cumulative Key Figures?
If you are doing an overwrite to the Key Figures, you could just execute a Full Repair InfoPackage that extracts the data for the days that you found inconsistencies instead of attempting to change the timestamp in KEB5 on the source ECC environment.
However, if you're target has cumulative Key Figures you're left with very few options (a couple of them are time-consuming):
    1) Changing the timestamp in KEB5, if your plug-in is PI 2003.1 or older. Newer versions of the plug-in do not allow the changing of the timestamp as was pointed out by Ferruccio earlier.
    2) Deleting the keys in the target InfoProvider for those records that you extract in a Full Repair extract.
    3) Delete all data in BW for COPA and start from the beginning. This may be your best bet for cleaning up the issues in this scenario.

  • Seeking Information on Company Code Currency in COPA

    Greetings all,
I am working on a project to activate the company code currency flag in COPA (attributes under KEA0). I have activated the flag in a test system and as expected I now get two PA docs, a 10 and a B0. The oddity begins when I compare PA docs created from SD and FI. In my example I am creating documents in three different currencies; 1) transaction curr = SEK, 2) company curr = EUR, and 3) operating concern curr = USD. I am on ECC 6.0 EP 4.
If I create a PA from a billing document (record type F) then the data looks exactly as I expect it. The foreign currency key (FRWAE) is SEK. I can see the transaction currency is SEK with value fields in SEK, I can see the company currency is EUR with an exchange rate of SEK <-> EUR along with value fields in EUR, and I can see the operating concern currency is USD with an exchange rate of SEK <-> USD along with value fields in USD.
However, if I create a similar document with FB50 (record type B) the foreign currency key (FRWAE) is EUR instead of SEK and the exchange rate to USD is 1 (KURSF) instead of the actual exchange rate. I only get company currency and operating concern currency values. The values in the value fields are correct per currencies eventhough the fx rate is whacked. In FI the transaction currency is SEK but you would never know it in PA. The really bizarre thing is when I go to display the PA doc (I am branching from the FI doc) it behaves very odd. The default view is Op conc which is in USD. If I click the foreign curr button it displays USD. If I click the company code curr button it displays EUR. If I then go back to the foreign curr view it is now in EUR???
I am hoping someone can explain the difference between the two, or at least point me to a good resource. If there is a rational reason for this system behavior then I am hoping someone can suggest some way to manipulate the data.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
CO-PA will only store values in either operating concern currency or company code currency(if active). For FI postings CO-PA fills the field foreign currency in the CO-PA line item with the currency with the currency of the company code. The reason for this is that the currency conversion for FI documents is that the currency conversion for FI documents is executed with the
company code currency and the field FRWAE is always filled with the currency that is used for conversion. This is designed in order to allow a reconciliation between FI and CO-PA. CO-PA uses company code currency as the base to convert to operating
concern currency for FI postings. The field FRWAE is not intended to reflect the transaction currency. It is just used to store the currency from which the conversion to the currency of the record is made.
In case of direct postings from FI/MM CO-PA takes over group currency directly if group and operating concern currency are identical. As group currency is translated in FI with exchange rate ( according the settings in transaction 'OB22' for company code) you'll find this exchange rate in CO-PA too. I have attached SAP Note 604936 to this ticket that describes the translation logic used in PA for postings from FI and MM.
The currency translation from SD however works differently as described in SAP Note 429517. In this case PA will not consider any values in group currency. Values in operating concern currency are either translated based on transaction or company code currency using exchange rate type 'M'.
    Hope this will help.

  • COPA Planning to Profit Center Accounting

    Hi,
    We are using ECC 6.0.
When we do COPA planning and transfer the values of COPA to Profit Center, no data has been transfered to profit center plan items.
We have not activated Planning version of Classic Profit Center Accounting. Is it required for ECC 6.0 also to activate Classic Profit Center Accoutning?
We have Mapped requisit Value fields of COPA to GL Accounts.
Can any one guide us in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance
    Sudhakar

    Hi,
In COPA the planning has been done to the value field of PRCTR which represents Profit center. Through report forms the actual and plan data for the value fields can be derived in COPA itself. I dont think that the planned values can be transferred to profit center accouting. On the other hand the actuals of profit center with the same value fields can be derived in COPA.
    Assign points if its useful

  • Sales Analysis in COPA

    Hi,
To my understanding data from fields Customer Groups 1-5 and Condition Group 1-5 get copied to sales orders and invoices for sales analysis.
My question is that does the data have to be copied into a sales order and invoice for SALES ANALYSIS or can it be done using different fields such as ATTRIBUTES 1-10 for SALES ANALYSIS in COPA.
    Thanks

What fields do you want to come up in the sales analysis report?
My question is that does the data have to be copied into a sales order and invoice for SALES ANALYSIS
Do you mean doing so in ECC..?
