i have a database link created from my local database to remote database, but looks like i cannot select a clob locator or clob data residing on a remote database through this link ?
is there any way to do this ? anyone has a readily available code for doing this ? i need this very urgently, your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Copy all tables and data from remote schema to local schema

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 10g Enterprise edition as a database and Windows 7 as the operating system.
My Requirement is to copy all the tables and data from remote machine database to my local machine.
I created a DB link between my location schema and remote machine schema. Database link created successful. Error what i am getting when i am trying to import all the tables from the remote data is as mentioned below
I created a directory gave all the privilege to do read and write on the directory.
    Directory name : DUMP
Local Schema name / PASSWORD : PRODUCTION / PRODUCTION
    Remote Schema name / Password : portal / m3892!2
When i run this scrip from command prompt
    impdp PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION DIRECTORY=DUMP LOGFILE=LOCALPROD_MERUPROD.log network_link=MERU_DEV_LOCAL_PROD schemas=portal remap_schema=portal:PRODUCTION TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
It is giving me following error please suggest me what is the mistake i couldn't trace
    ORA-31631: privileges are required
ORA-39149: cannot link privileged user to non-privileged user
    Thanks
    Sudhir

Thanks I gave the grant permission for the "portal" remote user. I didn't not get the error. Issue am facing now is I need to copy the entire schema of production to my local system production.
I am currently using the below script to copy. it not working. what might be the reason there is no error message coming but still i don't see any tables in my local system after executing this script
    impdp PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION DIRECTORY=DUMP LOGFILE=LOCALPROD_MERUPROD.log network_link=MERU_DEV_LOCAL_PROD schemas=portal remap_schema=portal:PRODUCTION TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
Or suggest me some other script to copy all the tables and procedure function from remote database to my local database using impdp script
    Thanks

    Hi,
Use Proxies For Your Sender SAP System side and Use the Appropriate Adapter at Receuver side according to the Requirement
    Now scenario willl be Proxy-Xi---
    Logic:
    1) Write the Logic inside the Proxy report to pick the records from the tables
    2) And send it to Xi, Xi will routew the data to the third party System based on the adapter you selected

  • Extract CLOB data from my database.

Hello, I am in the process of moving our production database to a new Unix Sun Solaris server. I am trying to use exp/imp but one of the tables has a CLOB data field in it and it is taking a very long time to load the data. Can anyone suggest a fast way to import the CLOB data into the new database? I don't think that we will be able to use transportable tablespaces to to os version differences. Thank you.
    David

By cloning, do you mean at the OS level? Is there any way to extract the data into a flat file? Should transportable tablespaces work?

  • How to copy the Data From Oracle Table To SAP Table

    Hi Friends,
We need to copy the data from Oracle Database Table to SAP Table. The data should be updated simultaneously in both tables . Should I write a program that contains the native sql statement like EXEC SQL PERFORMING WRITE,....
I appreciate any suggestions regarding this.
    Regards
    CSM Reddy

    Hi,
since you posted this question in the DB2 forum I assume that you are using a DB2 database for your SAP system.
To access a table from a legacy ORACLE database you may use the DBSL multiconnect feature. I.e. you open a secondary connecction in the SAP system to your ORALE database. You can then ready the data from the ORACLE database into an ABAP internal table and insert it afterwards into the DB2 table on the main connection.
Another way to access an ORACLE table from a DB2 database is to use the DB2 federated database feature. This requires a little bit more DB2 skill. With this feature you can make the ORACLE table visible within the DB2 database. To copy data you can then simply use a "INSERT ... SELECT" statement.

  • How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • Getting LONG RAW from remote database

    Hi,
I have a table in my local database that has a LONG RAW column . I have another table of similar structure in a remote database (so it has LONG RAW as well). I would like to transfer data including LONG RAW data from the remote database into the local database table using PL/SQL. I know it is not possible to copy LONG RAW over dblink directly. Can anyone suggest an approach to accomplish this?
The local table cannot be changed to BLOB, but I have the flexibility to change the remote table to use BLOB. So, can anyone tell me if the following solution would work. If so, can you shed some light on what PL/SQL libraries to use or can you provide me with some sample code to implement steps 3 and 4 below?:
    1. Change the remote table to use BLOB
    2. Create a new temporary table with BLOB in the local database.
    3. Copy data using PL/SQL from remote BLOB to local temporary table BLOB.
    4. Copy data using PL/SQL from BLOB to LONG RAW within the local database from temporary table (w/ BLOB) to the actual target table (w/ LONG RAW).
I think step 3 can be a direct Insert-Select from remote table (I'll try this myself), but not sure how to go about step 4.
    Thanks for your help.

There is a chapter in the Oracle Application Developer's Guide on calling external procedures
I don't know enough about VB and the available VB APIs to know for sure. I would assume that VB could be configured to generate a DLL with a C call specification. I would also assume that there was a VB API that would allow you to manipulate LONG RAW and BLOB data. Unfortunately, though, I don't know which VB API's have that functionality.

  • JDBC Thin driver doesn't support writing data into remote database via database link

    Dear Oracle Guru:
Please confirm: Oracle JDBC thin driver does not support writing data to remote database via database link.
The following errors occur when trying to write data into a remote database via database link through jdbc thin driver:
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
    ORA-02063: preceding line from FDBE.PAPDSRAS1
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from PA
SQL statement is a prepared statement using a SQL like: insert into mytable@pa (col1,col2) values (?,?).
    Thanks.
    null

    Thanks, Dan.
I still think it is a driver problem, because I can do similar things in a stored procedure or in PL/SQL Developer to copy records from a local database table to a remote database table via database link (insert into mytable@pa select * from mytable). The value for distributed_transactions of our database is 10.

  • What is te best way to copy a table from a database to another?

    Hello friends:
I have two databases: an Access database and an Oracle database. I must copy the data from al tables from the Access database to the oracle database. The tables in the both databases are equal (number of columns, type, etc).
I read an resultset from acces (select * from table1) and I insert every row in the Oracle database with an while loop (while (r.next)...). It works fine when there are a few rows, but I have a table with over 200000 rows, and when I'm copying the row number 30.000, the system goes very slow...
How can I copy tables from a database to another more quickly?
    Thanks!

    CASE #1
The most efficient method would be to copy all the rows from Microsoft Access and write them to a text file using Access's native interface (not JDBC), then use Oracle's SQL Loader utility (not JDBC) to insert the data.
You can insert 200,000 rows of 80 bytes each in 30 seconds or less even on a modest Oracle system using SQL Loader. The extract from Access is very dependent on the size of the CPU and the available memory.
Hint 1: Avoid explicit or implict network traffic.
Hint 2: Extract and load from local drives rather than networked or shared drives on other services
Please note that this is done for efficiency of load, but has issues related to error checking, and operational scripting.
Anything else you do or use will be slower than the method (above).
    CASE #2
If you want to integrate this into a single JDBC program which will provide better operational management of the process, then you can simply connect to both databases in your Java program, then read the rows one at a time from Access, insert them using the Batch mechanism of JDBC to Oracle. You will also want to set the FetchSize in Oracle to a larger value then the default (i.e set it to 100 vs 10).
Hint #3 You may want to look into alternative JDBC drivers for accessing MS Access, rather than the JDBC-ODBC bridge which is not optimized for MS Access. You may also want to consider using the OCI8 driver from Oracle rather than the thin driver. Both provide Type 4 functionality but I have heard (not experienced) that the OCI8 driver is better for managing batch style of processing like yours
    Good luck!

  • Help needed to insert data from different database

    Hi ,
I have a requirement where i need to fetch data from different database through database link .Depending on user request , the dblink needs to change and data from respective table from mentioned datbase has to be fetched and populated .Could i use execute immediate for this, would dblink work within execute immediate .If not , could pls let me know any other approach .

What does "the dblink needs to change" mean?
Are you trying to dynamically create database links at run-time? Or to point a query at one of a set of pre-established database links at run-time?
Are you sure that you really need to get the data from the remote database in real time? Could you use materialized views/ Streams/ etc to move the data from the remote databases to the local database? That tends to be far more robust.

    hi,
You can use the transactions CG3Y or through program u can do like this..
DATA: BEGIN OF IT_FILE OCCURS 0,
                    LINE TYPE STRING,
               END OF IT_FILE.
OPEN DATASET <file_name>  FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
            IF SY-SUBRC IS INITIAL.
              DO.
                READ DATASET<file_name> INTO IT_FILE-LINE.
                IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
                  APPEND IT_FILE.
                  CLEAR IT_FILE.
                ELSE.
                  EXIT.
                ENDIF.
              ENDDO.
            ENDIF.
    CLOSE DATASET <file_name>.
Download it to local system using  FM - GUI_DOWNLOAD
