Copying files by using SCP in a Script
HI ,
I want to copy files from one of my server to other by using scp.
I am using a script which will generate a tar file and I want it to paste it automatically to my other server using SCP.
But how can I can make this automation in a Script.
I dont want it to ask for the password while copying to the server.
Can anybody guide me...
Thanks & Regards
Suseendran. A
I did as you described -- actually I found another web site (http://www.linuxproblem.org/art_9.html), which tells exactly the same thing but has more details. What I did on our site is exactly as that page outlines, and the files were created and saved in the .ssh directory on both the local and remote machines.
But I am still prompted for password when I use ssh, sftp, or scp:
$ ssh [email protected]
[email protected]'s password:
What could be wrong or is anything overlooked or missing?
Thanks a lot for helping!

My problem is … When user copies the large request output file, the network is slow. So I want to manage bandwidth such as using Qos .
How are you planning to manage the bandwidth of specific port?
If I know which port is used, I can manage it (give it to low priority)

When I tried to deploy the wsp's using managment shell (power shell scripts) everything looks good.
When I go and take a look the "manage farm solutions" thru sharepoint central admin, I see the deployment failed in two servers.
Error is
Could not load file or assembly 'c:\windows\Temp\solution-cxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\xxx.xxx.dll" or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.
Can you please let me know what could be the reason.
Note : I have two app servers and two web servers setup. The deployment is sucessful in 2 apps servers . but 2 web servers are giving error.
Thanks
PichaimaniHi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to failed to deploy the wsp's using managment shell.
You need to make sure that the dll is registered in the GAC.
Go to %Windows%\assembly. If the dll isn't there , you need to install it to the GAC on the server. Simply drag it into that folder in Windows Explorer, and it should install itself.
Here is a similar thread for your reference:

Ls -l does not show files unless used in a shell script
Our backup script is generating files called BACKUP.01.04.05 (the 01.04.05 is a generated date). Well the files do not show up when using ls-l at the command line, except for the ones generated in 2000 (e.g. BACKUP.00.01.01). But if I put echo|ls -l in a script then the files do show up in the listing. We are running solaris 2.7. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi there,
The behavior you described sure does not seem to make much sense.
Is it possible if the 'ls' in your command line is aliased to
something which might explain the behavior?
Also, echo|ls -l should not make a difference, I don't think ls takes
any input from the pipe. I assume that the 'ls' you run from the
shell script is different than the one you run from your command
line. The 'which ls' command will show if your ls is aliased.
Hope this helps.

I am running Mac OS 10.10.1 on a Mac Mini with 16G.
I have a Buffalo NAS and wanted to copy files from one folder on the NAS to another on the NAS.
Under Yosemite I can only copy them one at a time. If I try to copy more than one I get an error message that the file is in use.
Under SNS 10.6.3 (running under Parallels) I can easily copy a large number of files.
Again under 10.10.1 I get the same problem when copying from my desktop to the NAS.
The files are definitely not in use elsewhere and in any case if they were I wouldn't be able to copy one at a time.
When I try to copy multiple files the OS creates greyed out icons of all the files to copy and then aborts when it actually tries to copy the first file.
Any clues please, my current work around is to compress all the files to move, move the archive, expand the archive. This is not going to work for very large numbers of files - l'll be at it all day.
TonyI have been unable to drag and drop large files, even onto the Desktop, let alone onto my NAS - I get the dragged files freezing in the middle of the screen or I get the 'unable to copy / file in use' error.
Talking to Apple Support, they had me set up a new User, and then within that new account, the trouble went away. This pointed to the StartUp items being run in the original troublesome account,
I have deleted all of my 3rd Party programs and then installed them one by one until the problem came back, and in my case (Macbook Air 5,2 running 10.10.3 Yosemite) I found it was DropBox causing the conflict. I have DropBox running in the Menu Bar (top of screen) and disabling sync (bottom left corner) stopped the file copy problem. Try disabling DropBox sync is file copying is failing? -

I have My External Hard Drive connected to my air port extreme base station. I have the latest firmware update. While copying files or using time machine to back up my computer, the speed is extremely slow max speed is 2.2 mpbs but bounces from 200kbps to 2.2 mbps constantly. I am with in 5 feet of the base station everything else works fine including internet speed.
i have the same problem over here. Been looking around the internet, tried different configurations, nothing helps. 3min for 15M.
just wondering: is it possible my file is transmited over the internet and back, instead of directly over the local network to my Airport disk or other computer?
Not sure if it has anything to do with it but when I look at my filesharing config, it says: Other users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes, at afp://xx-xx-xxx-xxx.access.telenet.be/ or "yyy". where x is my IP and yyy is my bonjour-name.
why is my provider in that afp-path?
anyone any idee?
Thx -
Any suggestions?
However, I can use scp to copy files out from my iMac (10.6.8) .
I can ssh into the iMac OK.
I created a .profile in my iMac home directory with the single line "export TERM=xterm-color".
This makes a difference to how scp behaves when attempting to copy into the iMac, but it still fails.
Thanks in advance for any help. Peter R

Problem using scp to copy files between Macs
I've been trying to copy a folder hierarchy containing a slew of icon files between two of my Macs. Using scp has proven to be futile.
The command line I'm using is
scp -r -p -C -E [email protected]:/Icons /Icons
After a number of files are copied I receive the following error message on a file and all thereafter:
./icons/Agrapha-Christmas/Boxes: Too many open files
More specifically the "too many open files" message.
I am using Tiger 10.4.7
What am I doing wrong here? One more piece of information. I ran scp with the verbose switch and have attached a portion of the feedback showing successfull copies followed by the error which occurs on all subsequent files:

Cannot copy file, file is in use
Macbook pro 13 mid 2009 with Yosemite fresh install. (i have the same problem with the old MacOSX).
When i try to copy a file, or a bunch of files, to the wdtvlivehub i have the message error "cannot copy file, the file is in use".
I try the following:
- in the wdtvlivehub activated the DNLA, WINDOWS and Itunes Server (and the linux).
- try both via wifi and ethernet
- repair permission on disk
- deactivate the show miniatures on the mac and on the wdtvlivehub
- drag & drop the file and cut e copy via keyboard or with the right click of the pad or mouse
- connect the wdtvlivehub via SMB, CIFS
- Try with AFP but i get a error message
- with an app i search for a program that block the file but it didn't find anything
-Basically i try everything suggest in this board and over the web but nothing resolve the problem.
The file sometimes been copied but i have to try a billion times....not so comfort in this.
What i have to do?
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.Hi,
We often see this file in use when the file has not been closed. Is it just a regular file that was opened and how did you open it? I use AppleScript to close it if it was opened with AppleScript.
Edited: try this: Run Script Editor. Enter:
set f to choose file -- select the file
close access f
run it in Script Editor.

Logon Scripts for copying files in Windows 7
Issues using Logon scripts to copy files in windows 7. Its default is to append the file rather than copy and replace, which is what XP did. How can I achieve the same results using
logon scripts in W7 to copy any files to specified folders and replacing old files. The reason for this is that we use a software that performs offsite/onsite updates and the only way all the users can have the correct version/tables is to either manually
update each user in a 90+ user environment or use a logon script to perform the coping of the updates. Unfortunately the software support won’t create a (while logging in to software) patch for this. So we have to force it during the user logon.Hi Novice,
It should depend on your script content. it's recommended you ask in the official scripting guys forum for professional help:

Following upgrade to Yosemite I now can't copy files from iMac to my network HDD in external media center. I have iMac connected by wi-fi to airport extreme and media center connected to airport extreme by cable. I can see the HDD as a network drive on my iMac and can initiate the copy but right when copy process is finished I see "The operation can’t be completed because the [Filename] is in use". I am trying to copy different media files downloaded from internet which are not used by any program and stored on my hard drive. I actually can copy small files of 1mb and it works but anything above 20mb is halted. I can also move/copy/delete the file on iMac. Cant understand the nature of the problem. I tried to format external HDD as EXT2/EXT3/NTFS but same outcome.
OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 | iMac late 2009 | Apple Airport Extreme | Dune HD Base 3D mediacenterHave you tried a restart or logging out/in?
Some more ideas.

File in use error - copying from a faulty external hard drive
Hi,
I have a 750GB Western Digital external hard drive, which contains two partitions - (1) HDBACKUP - a Time Machine backup of my laptop drive, and (2) MEDIA - pictures including an Aperture library, and videos.
When I plug the drive in, only the MEDIA partition mounts. And I get an error saying Disk Utility cannot repair the drive and to backup the files as soon as I can, and reformat the drive.
When I try to copy the files onto another drive using Finder, it copies part of the file and then gives me a "File in use" error and stops. I tried copying via Terminal and its the same - this time I get a "Resource busy" error.
There are no other apps accessing the files. And this happens for every file on the drive.
So how do I go about copying the files off the drive?
I tried using DiskWarrior but it was stuck on Step 1 - Searching for Volume Information, after 3 hours.
I really need to get the Aperture Library off the drive. Any ideas on how I can copy it across?
ThanksThis did not work. I still get an error trying to repair with Disk Utility.
It gets to
Starting repair tool:
Checking file system
Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
Checking extents overflow file.
Checking catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking catalog hierarchy.
Checking extended attributes file.
The volume MEDIA could not be verified completely.
Volume repair complete.
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
Error: Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.
So DiskUtility tells me to backup as many files as possible. However, when I try copying these files, I get a "File in use" error. -
Hi everyone,
I work remotely using Cisco AnyConnect (company provided) to access the company servers. Until "upgrading" to Mavericks I was able to copy files directly to my desktop – from either the servers themselves, from within Bridge, and/or by using the finder - you get the idea. Now I can only copy the files by opening them while still on the server using the native app (in my case mainly InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator files) and saving them to my desktop that way.
I'm a designer, I use a lot of files for my specific job every day and these files are often pretty large and doing it this way is time-consuming and really frustrating seeing as I had no such issues with the previous OS. It's not a total nightmare (yet) like some of things some of you are dealing with but I've spent more time restarting, freezing and trying to fix issues than I have actually using my darned machine. I have no choice but to access my work this way; I'm part of a much larger team and we all work on these files off and on during the day so I'm constantly needing to copy files and make sure I'm working on the most current version. Working off the server isn't an option as the speed decreases considerably... making the slightest task cringingly slow. As in 25 minutes for a PDF to be created slow.
I've been used to my system running smoothly, without issues and fast so this upgrade is turning into a bit of a nightmare. Before I throw in the towel and try and downgrade, does anyone have any ideas? My technical knowledge where these things are concerned isn't beginner but I'm no expert and I'm stumped. I just don't know where to start and I'm afraid of screwing something else up during the process of trying to fix this (so far) one issue and creating a snowball effect.
I'm using a 27" iMac (late model 2012 purchased in March 2013) with a second Viewsonic monitor attached. I have a Cintiq 22HD hooked up (but not on all the time) and a Wacom tablet in use. I currently use both CS5 (work hasn't upgraded to CC yet) and Adobe CC (for personal use) on my system.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
G.Hi,
By default, the Remote Desktop (RD) Gateway component that encapsulates RDP in HTTPS packets listens on port 443 (for TCP) and port 3391 (for UDP). After you changed the ports in Transport Settings tab, please make sure that you have opened the custom ports
you selected in Windows Firewall.
In addition, since you have mentioned the registry key, would you please share the entire path?
It seems that you need to manually update the gateway in the RDP file with the port. Have you created an .rdp file? You can also refer to the link below:
Create an .rdp file
Best regards,
Susie
