Copying from one arrangement and pasting into another arrangement

Hi, I'm using Logic Express 8.
I'm wondering if there is a way to copy several tracks from one arrangement window into another. I've tried to do this simply by copying and pasting, but when I paste into the new arrangement window I get error messages and the tracks pasted into the new window have a speaker icon with an "X" through it - and obviously no sound.
Am I missing something, or perhaps this is simply a limitation that exists with using express instead of pro?
Thanks a lot.

You can do this by simply importing the data from one project to your new one. Check it out here.

  • Copying from one photo to paste into another

    I need to copy two people from one photo and paste them into a group picture in another photo. I understand this is not something Aperture can do. I need something like Photoshop. However, since I seldom do this type of copying and pasting, is there a less expensive photo editor that will let me do this? Will Photoshop Elements suffice? Or is there a free application like Picasa that will do the job?
    TIA!!

    In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    _[The Gimp|http://www.gimp.org/macintosh>_ also free
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    [Pixelmator|http://www.pixelmator.com> ($60 approx.)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
    There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.

  • Copy all subform data and paste into another subform

    Need: I would like to have a button within a subform that allows you to copy all the data (many fields) and then paste it into an empty copy of the subform. Of course the info pasted would fill in all the fields etc.
    Reason: We routinely need to move subform data from page 3 in the document to page 11 (example). Currently we insert a new subform and copy/paste each field from 3 to 11 and then delete 3. It would be great to press a copy button in 3 and insert a new subform and paste.into 11.
    Is this possible?

    Steve's advice is good if this is a runtime question - how a user, filling out a form, can copy data from one section of the form to another.
    If this is a buildtime question - how a developer can duplicate a subform to be used elsewhere in the same form or in a different form, you have the following options:
    Duplicate and move. For one off tasks, select the subform in the Hierarchy pallet, and click Ctrl-D. This creates a copy of the subform, with all its contents, which can then be dragged in the hierarchy to its new position.
    Cut and paste. For one off tasks, select the subform in the Hierarchy pallet, and click Ctrl-C. Select the new position in the Hierarchy and then in the Design View (it seems odd to select the same object twice in different pallets, but this is required for the copied subform to be pasted into the right place). Click Ctrl-V
    Fragment. When the exact same subform is going to be used several times in the same and different forms, create a fragment by selecting the subform in the Deisgn View and drag to the Fragment Library pallet. This creates a fragment XDP file. By dragging the fragment onto forms, you are creating links back to the fragment XDP file. Change the fragment and next time you open a form in Designer it will inherit the changes. Fragments cannot be customised for a specific form.
    Common Object. Similar to fragments, you create a common object by selecting the subform in the Deisgn View and drag to the Object Library pallet. The difference is that when you drag a common object onto a form, it is inserting a copy of the subform. The inserted subform is not linked to the common object and so it can be customised for that form and will not inherit changes to the common object.

  • How to get the data from one table and insert into another table

    Hi,
    We have requirement to build OA page with the data needs to be populated from one table and on save data into another table.
    For the above requirement what the best way to implement in OAF.
    I understand that if we attach VO object instance to region/page, we only can pull and put data in to only one table.
    Thanks

    You can achieve this in many different ways, one is
    1. Create another VO based on the EO which is based on the dest table.
    2. At save, copy the contents of the source VO into the dest VO (see copy routine in dev guide).
    3. commiting the transaction will push the data into the dest table on which the dest VO is based.
    I understand that if we attach VO object instance to region/page, we only can pull and put data in to only one table.
    if by table you mean a DB table, then no, you can have a VO based on multiple EOs which will do DMLs accordingly.Thanks

    public String get() {

    where generate is a string declared globally.
    how to go about it?
    Thanks for your reply in advance

    If you want to copy files as fast as possible, without processing them (as the DOS "copy" or the Unix "cp" command), you can try the java.nio.channels package.
    import java.nio.*;
    import java.nio.channels.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    class Kopy {
         * @param args [0] = source filename
         *        args [1] = destination filename
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
            if (args.length != 2) {
                System.err.println ("Syntax: java -cp . Kopy source destination");
                System.exit(1);
            File in = new File(args[0]);
            long fileLength = in.length();
            long t = System.currentTimeMillis();
            FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream (in);
            FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream (args[1]);
            FileChannel fci = fis.getChannel();
            FileChannel fco = fos.getChannel();
            fco.transferFrom(fci, 0, fileLength);
            fis.close();
            fos.close();
            t = System.currentTimeMillis() - t;
            NumberFormat nf = new DecimalFormat("#,##0.00");
            System.out.print (nf.format(fileLength/1024.0) + "kB copied");
            if (t > 0) {
                System.out.println (" in " + t + "ms: " + nf.format(fileLength / 1.024 / t) + " kB/s");
    }

  • Is it possible to copy all comments from one pdf and paste to another?

    Hi Adobe Community
    I have a pdf file that has 100+ pages with square markups and arrows. The pdf that was marked up is from last year, but this year the format is the same, but the numbers have changed. Rather than going through every single page and commented as I did last year, is it possible to copy all comments from last years pdf and paste them into this years pdf, in the same place?
    Thanks

    You can export comments to an FDF file and import the FDF into another PDF. In Acrobat 11, you'd select: Comment > Comment List > [click the little icon in right of panel toolbar] > Export All to Data File

    i have written the following when button pressed trigger which will concatinate all the messages of any selected language from the sound table, and store in another table called temp.

  • Export from one version and import into another version

    We have a customer database that accidently got updated to 10.2.x but our application only supports 10.1.5 What we are wondering can we export the 10.2 database and import it into a new system that is at our supported version of 10.1.0.5?
    Will the import even work or will it fail with unsupported version? Any other things we should be aware of?

  • How can I copy a row from one sheet and paste it in a column in another sheet?

    I would like to copy a row of numbers from one sheet and paste it into a column in another sheet.  Is it possible to do this with numbers?

    Hi Dennis,
    Numbers doesn't have a built-in Paste Special > Transpose the way you have in Excel.  However, there are ways to do this in Numbers that are not difficult.
    Here are two ways:
    Approach 1:
    Select the row of numbers, and command-c to copy to the system clipboard.
    Click on the canvas and command-v to paste, automatically creating a new table.
    With that new table still selected, in your menu choose Table > Transpose Rows and Columns.
    Select the cells in the transposed table, command-c to copy, click once in a cell of the destination column of your target table, and command-v to paste.
    Approach 2: (after a quick installation, very similar to Excel's built-in Paste Special > Transpose)
    Download this Copy Transpose Automator Service, and double-click to install (if necessary choosing Open Anyway in System Preferences > Security and Privacy).
    Thereafter to use just:
    select the row of numbers you want to copy
    with the cells still selected, choose Copy Transpose from the Numbers > Services menu
    click once in the destination column and command-v to paste the transposed values.
    Note that the second approach does not handle cells with formulas, whereas the first approach will.

    How do I move all my files from one User Profile (account) into another?
    I needed to create a new account and want all of my files accessible in the new one.

    ok, what you're learning right now is 101 unix, which is good. Unix is a good thing
    now: the way unix works, and macos (which uses unix underneath) the files and folders work like a hierarchy.
    the start of that tree is /
    so, if you were to do:
    cd /
    (cd means change directory)
    it will bring you at the highest branch of the file system.
    cd /Users
    will bring you to where all the users are.
    to see whats in /Users you can use your friend ls command
    ls means list files/directories
    so:
    cd /Users
    ls -la
    (the -la here means show all (even hidden) and long format (very verbose))  this flag is very optional.
    you will see
    fred
    user2
    for example.
    if you want to see the desktop of user2 you would change directory to it then list the files.
    for example:
    cd /Users/user2/Desktop
    Note that the files and directory are case sensitive, so, desktop is NOT the same as Desktop, or DESKTOP
    ls -la
    you should then be able to see everything in users2 desktop
    you could have done as well the same thing in smaller steps, for example:
    cd /
    cd Users
    cd user2
    cd Desktop
    this is the equivalent of cd /Users/user2/Desktop
    So, for your file, i don't know where it was, but know that if you log in as user2, it will directly put you in
    /Users/user2
    which most likely the file you had created from the other user was in /Users/user1
    if you copied all the files from /Users/original_user to /Users/secondUser
    most likely yes, all your mail, bookmarks etc would be copied over.
    so in your case.
    sudo chown -R seconduser:staff /Users/secondUser
    should work
    Remember that if you start a path with the character /  it means start from the root of the file system, at the highest top you can ever get.
    so
    cd /Users/fred
    is not the same as
    cd Users/fred
    unless you were in / already
    i know it may be confusing at first but it's actually very logical if you play with it.
    to simplify, think of it that / means C:\  on windows
    you can't go any higher than C:\  (in a way)
    if you're unsure which directory you're currently in, you can always type:
    pwd
    it will tell you where you are.
    for example:
    cd /
    pwd
    this shows  /
    cd Users
    pwd
    this now shows /Users
    cd /System/Library
    pwd will show /System/Library
    cd /
    cd /Users
    cd fred
    cd Library
    pwd will show /Users/fred/Library
    unix can look very scary but it's actually vital and very necessary to do tasks sometimes that would take for ever to do via the windows. This is good learning.
    so for the myfile you had created, i can't tell you where it is, at the time you created, if you can do a pwd command you'll know the path,
    ls -la  (this shows all the files where you are)
    if you see myfile in the list
    do a pwd
    whatever is return, the real location of the file would be:
    whatever pwd returned / myfile
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Is it possible to clone an object from one image and paste it on another image?

    Is it possible to clone an object from one image and paste it on another image in Aperture?

    As Frank said,
    but Aperture has a nice clone tool - the drawback is, that it only works within one image.
    What I sometimes do - as a workaroud, when I want to use the clone brush, is to combine the image I want to clone from and the image I want to clone into, into one single image by printing them together to pdf as jpeg. Then I can clone from the second to the first, for example, to be able to add an fairy to a flower: Picking up the head of the fairy in the right image and brushing it into the left one. Occasionally I prefer the Aperture brush to the Photoshop lasso.

  • Why when I copy a cell and paste into another it pastes into the middle of three cells?

    Why when I copy a cell and paste into another it pastes into the middle of three cells? I was very fond of using numbers as it was straightforward and much better than Excel. But I made the mistake of installing Mavericks and Numbers 3.0. Now it is worse than Word at doing what it thinks it wants to do rather than what you want to do. I can no longer copy a cell and paste it into another. For some reason on pasting, instead of pasting into just one other cell it pastes into the middle of three cells - what the ****?

    Thanks Badunit for your quick response
    I have found the answer - it is a incompatabilty between CopyPaste Pro and Numbers: -
    Thanks dbg1596 - solved my problem with which I wasted a good couple of hours getting more and more frustrated with numbers 3.0
    I had the same problem - copy a cell - paste into another cell and it created three vertical cells with the pasted data in the middle
    Definitely a problem between CopyPaste Pro - one of the most useful aps on my Mac for the last many years
    Once I quit CopyPaste Pro - no problem with pasting in Numbers 3.0
    But I use CopyPaste Pro all the time
    Have the folks responded to your query?
    But I use CopyPaste Pro all the time - hope that it can be sorted sooner rather than later

    I have recently purchased a new iPhone that uses the iOS7.  Previously, I was able to copy images from the web and paste into iMessages.  When I try this now, all that is pasted is the link.  Is there a way around this?

    When I tap and hold the image, I don't see an option to "Save" it.  I get the following options:
    Open, Open in New Page, Add to Reading Lisa, and Copy.  When I choose "copy and then go to paste it, it just pastes the web link as you mentioned.  Am I missing something?
    (Thanks for your response, by the way)!

If using this, the receiving file would have to have bytes inserted that exactly match the number of bytes replaced. I'm thinking that you'll likely have to stream through the second XML with a SAX parser and copy information (or insert new information) as you stream with an XML writer of some sort.
