Copying song between accts on one computer. Does this count as 2 computers?

My mini has 2 accounts, mine and my wife's. When I purchase songs from iTunes store, they go into my ITunes library. I want to put some of these songs on my wife's iPod, so I make a copy of the song in my library, move the copy to the shared file, log in as my wife and move the copied song to my wife's iTunes library. I understand that iTunes limits number of copies and number of computers.
Does this count as 2 copies and 2 computers? Thanks,
Owen

Two user accounts on one computer would use the same computer authorization. You don't have to authorize individual accounts, just each computer.

  • Can't copy songs between home shared libraries

I used to have home sharing set up to automatically copy songs between my wife's iMac and my Mac Pro. About a month ago, I changed the boot drive in my Mac Pro to an SSD. Sometime after, I also de-authorized all of my computers from iTunes (I had some dead computers that I wanted to clear out and re-authorized the two computers we are currently using). I just noticed today that songs we each buy are no longer synched between our computers, and I suspect either the iTunes deauthorization or the moving of files between computers must be the reason.
The shared libraries still work, and I can play songs from my wife's library and vice-versa, but we can't even manually copy songs. The "Settings" and "Import" options on the bottom are missing, the option to show songs missing from my library is also missing, and where I used to be able to drag songs from one library to another, this no longer works.
Both of our computers are on the same network and we are both logged into the same account. I read other posts that suggested turning off home sharing on both computers. I did this, rebooted both computers, and then turned sharing back on. Still no importing. I also tried logging out of iTunes and logging back in again, but still no dice.
Apple products are so nicely designed, but when they break, they often leave no clues as to what is going wrong, and it can be infuriating trying to figure out why!
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
    Help is much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ron

Okay ... I just solved my own problem. I read about turning on / off home sharing, but I didn't realize that there are two similar sounding options for doing this. I went to "Preferences --> Sharing" and chose to turn on / off sharing of my library. This did nothing.
However, I later noticed that in the Menu Bar under "Advanced", there is also a way to turn on / off home sharing. I turned this on / off, and my files are now sharing again. Yay!!!

  • TS4006 when using iCloud between mac and pad, what does this mean - "your iPad will  no longer back up to your computer automatically when you sync with iTunes"

when using iCloud between mac and pad, what does this mean - "your iPad will  no longer back up to your computer automatically when you sync with iTunes"
DONT WORRY EVERYONE, FOUND THE ANSWER I NEEDED FROM ANOTHER POSTING - THANK YOU

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need to do anything, you have chosen to back up to iCloud instead of iTunes.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • Getting songs off more than one computer

Why can't I put songs from more than one computer on my ipod?
      Windows ME
      Windows 2000
      Windows ME

If both computers are yours, and the music on both of them is licensed to you, then you can.
    Here's how:

  • I believe songs purchased in iTunes can be downloaded to a max of 5 devices. Does this count include the unregistered devices.

I believe songs purchased in iTunes can be downloaded to a max of 5 devices. Does this count include the unregistered devices. ie. If I have already registered and downloaded music on 5 devices and now If I unregister one of the older device, can I go ahead and download songs in a new device ?

You can have a maximum of 5 computers authorized to play DRM-restricted content purchased from the iTunes Store. You can have a maximum of 10 devices (computers and iOS) associated to your Apple ID.
However, since all music sold on the iTunes Store has been DRM-free since late 2009 there is no longer a number of devices restriction for music. It is possible to sync, via USB or Wi Fi, an unlimited number of iOS devices.

there are only 2 statistical probabilities of both charger blocks (NOT the cord as you report) going at the same time.
and what "goes" is one of the 2 capacitors inside them.
A: bad power on your outlet (more likely)
B; also likely is a defective IO board in your macbook causing the charger blocks to go kaput

  • I want to use asus air charger to charge my ipad 4 with my computer. does this software harm my ipad battery?

Hi , I want to use asus air charger to charge my ipad 4 with my computer. does this software harm my ipad battery? can I use it? thanks

Look at this description and review. http://asus-ai-charger.en.softonic.com/
The app is free, So it won't cost to try. The iPad 4 comes with a 12W wall charger. Most computer USB ports output only 2.5W, so even if you get a 50% increase, it will still take a long time to charge your iPad.
Bottom line - Use the wall charger.
    Here's some battery/charging info.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I am getting pop ups on safari and firefox lately and am worried I may have malware or something now on my computer doing this. What is the best way to check this out for sure and remove it?

Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.

  • Older generation ipod touch and want to move it's acct from one computer to new computer and can't figure out how?

We are transferring all our iTunes songs to a new computer do to space issues on old one.  My daughter's ipod touch is an older generation and she cannot connect to the new computer without wiping out her current itunes songs and rebuilding them on her ipod.  She doesn't want to do that do to time constraints.  Does anyone know how to get around this ?  Thank you.

This is true.  Ipod touch will sync with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

  • Can't copy songs from nano to my computer ???

Not very computer savvy...sorry. Got a new computer, and have i-tunes set up. I want to copy all of the tunes on my nano back over to my new computer... but can't figure out how. I am sure that it is easy !!?? Right now i must plug my nano in to my pc to listen to my tunes... but I want all of them back in i-tunes where they were before. PLEASE HELP

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Copying Songs from Ipod to new Computer

My previous notebook crashed and all the songs on my Itunes are all gone. I wish to sync songs from my Ipod to the new notebook. How do I go about doing that?
    Please help.

    Hello Mactan22,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • How do you copy songs between two shared libraries?

I have a mac book, hubby has a pc. We have set up home sharing and can see and listen to each others songs. However he has spent the time taking adding music from our CD's to his library. I would like to copy songs from his library and place them in mine but am having no luck. I have tried looking for answers on the forums but have not been successful finding any answers. I have tried copy paste and import. I am sure I am doing something wrong but have no idea what it is. Can someone out there please help?

iTunes has two kinds of sharing!
*Regular sharing* allows viewing and listening, but not copying.
*Home sharing* is the one you want; it allows copying as well. Here is the link to the support article for Home Sharing: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819

I have windows.  One computer but multi users.  Home sharing is on. 2 apple accounts-1 per user. 4 devices-2 iphones and 2 ipods per user.  How can we share music  on one computer between 2 users?

Hi Justinece, I've solved the problem in this way:
In my wife user profile I've set in itunes settings/advanced the path to my music library: /Users/"MY NAME"/Music/iTunes/Itunes media.
Than, from my wife profile using my administrator user and password I've set the "read/write" privileges on the above mentioned folder.
Finally I've added the folder in my wife's library taking care to not duplicate it ( leave blank the flag in itunes setting/advanced).
I really don't understand what's the use of home sharing...

  • Itunes duplication of songs when moved from one computer to another.

I moved all my music and itunes from one computer to another. I now have most of my artist that have duplicate songs and sometimes three copies of the same song for some reason. Some artist it didn't affect at all but that is a minority. How can I clean this up without going through every line in my folder and deleting the copies? I have like 25K songs. I hope someone can help.
    Thanks

Have a look at Teridon's iTunes Scripts. There's a script in there for dealing with duplicates that might be of some help to you: Teridon's iTunes for Windows Scripts
