Could any one share some light for me?
thanks

Found the root cause. It was the heap corruption that lead to the coredump. watchmalloc is a good malloc debug library. It helped me to find the bug.
thanks for your help

  • Weblogic core dumps with "SIGBUS    10*  bus error"

    I am getting a core dump when starting up my WL server. It seems to be
    timing related. The WL startup class is causing the error.
    The error does not occur if I do not deploy any EJBs. If I deploy one EJB
    the error occurrs. If I deploy two or more EJBs the error does not occur.
    The startup class is accessing the database.
    Has anyone seen a similar error or know of a solution. Is this a supported
    platform?
    Environment info and the error dump follow. Thanks in advance.

    Abort (core dumped)

    Weblogic does not dump core. The Java virtual machine does.
    As for your problem, I would be willing to bet that this is a 122_05a
    JVM. I would recommend downgrading to the versions that we certify.
    The platform support page for WebLogic Server is located at:
    http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/platforms/index.html
    This page has the latest and greatest information on the platforms that
    WebLogic is certified and supported on.

  • Core dump in malloc

    I get a core dump while making a call to malloc.
    Owing to waht reasons can malloc give a coredump?

    Your application has corrupted the malloc heap data structures.
    Use dbx' access checking feature, or use watchmalloc(3MALLOC), or libumem, or "Electric Fence", or ... to
    find out where your application corrupts malloc's data structures.

  • Core dump during malloc

    Hi,
    In one of my C applications, malloc is dumping core even if the pointer was free'd earlier (this is the behavior for both 32-bit and 64-bit).
    So I re-built the application with -lmapmalloc, and it worked fine.
    Can any one suggest whether it is ok to link the application with libmapmalloc or not.
    Thanks.

    This is almost always cause by overwriting areas that you shouldn't be. Preload watchmalloc (man watchmalloc) and see where it blows up.

    If none of these help, please provide more information about your program and the compiler you are using.
    Is the program multi-threaded?
    Are you using the default libCstd, or the option STLport, or some other version of the C++ Standard LIbrary?
    Run the command "CC-V" to find out the compiler version and patch level.

  • New / malloc / threads core dump

    Hi,
    I'm trying to port a ftp client from Linux to Solaris. The client runs fine on both Linux and on *BSD.
    I'm using the Sun Studio 8 C++ compiler on Solaris 9 4/04 x86.
    The program crashes in the below class function:
    -- CUT --
    FILELIST CServer::ObtainFilelist(bool use_jump) {
    FILELIST fl_temp, fl_temp1 = NULL, fl_new, fl_start = NULL;
    pthread_mutex_lock(&(this->filelist_lock));
    fl_temp = this->actual_filelist;
    while (fl_temp) {
    fl_new = new(FILELIST);
    fl_new->next = NULL;
    fl_new->magic = fl_temp->magic;
    fl_new->is_marked = FALSE;
    fl_new->name = new(char[strlen(fl_temp->name) + 1]);
    if (!fl_temp1)
    fl_start = fl_new;
    else
    fl_temp1->next = fl_new;
    fl_temp1 = fl_new;
    fl_temp = fl_temp->next;
    pthread_mutex_unlock(&(this->filelist_lock));
    *use_jump = this->prefs.use_jump;
    return (fl_start);
    -- CUT --
    When running the program in dbx I get:

    Regards,

    The stack trace seems to show a core dump from malloc after being asked to allocate 5 bytes. (The operator new in the standard library calls malloc to allocate storage.)
    If your code was compiled optimized and without -g, the stack trace is not always reliable, however.
    But assuming the trace is accurate, the crash is probably due to a corrupted heap. An invalid free() or delete can corrupt the heap data structures, and the the crash occurs at at later time, often far removed from the offending location. "Invalid" means
    - using the wrong form of delete
    -deleting an address that was not provided by the matching new operator
    -freeing an address that was not provided by malloc/calloc/realloc
    -freeing or deletting the same block more than once
    The heap (and anything else in the program) can also become corrupted by storing through an invalid pointer or an uninitialized pointer. "Invalid" means the object pointed to no longer exists.
    The heap can also become corrupted if you store beyond the bounds of allocated storage.
    The classic error is this:
    char* p = new char[strlen(msg)]; // forgot about trailing null
    strcpy(p, msg); // write one byte too many
    If you can't see any of these errors in the souce code (and theyare hard to find), try running under dbx with RTC (run-time checking) enabled, or use some memory debugger.

  • Java Core Dump Debug

    Hi,
    One of my Java Processes on Solaris Core Dumped due to SIGNAL 11 (SIGENV) and SIGNAL 10 (SIGBUS). SIgnal 11 is caused due to a Segmentation fault and Signal 10 is caused due to a 'Bus error' (hardware error).
    I would like to know, which is the best debugger to debug this core dump (java) and know the root cause. I tried 'gdb' but I am not sure if 'gdb' works for java. I would like to get a neat stack trace of the error.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Core Dump on Solaris 10 (Signal 10 - Bus Error), but not on Solaris 8?

    Hi,
    We just moved our product from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10. It runs for months on Solaris 8 without any problems, while core dumped after running about 2 weeks on Solaris 10.
    Any clue on what could be wrong is apprecaited.

    Hi Andrew,
    Appreciate your answer very much. I am very new to Solaris and UNIX in general. Would you please let me know what kind of info would help diagnose the
    problem? I have stack pointer, output of "where" from gdb. frme pointer, etc.

  • CC: Fatal error in ccfe: Bus Error (core dumped)

    I'm trying to compile a file that's heavy on templates (both mine and boost's).
    After some time I get the following error:
    CC: Fatal error in ccfe: Bus Error (core dumped)ccfe consumes up to 390 mb aprox.
    What could be the cause of this?
    Could it be lack of memory?

    It is almost certainly not an out-of-memory problem. It is some sort of internal compiler error.
    To find and fix the problem, we would need a test case.

  • Tracing speciific transactions (bus code core dump)

    hi
    When i am running payroll(calculation) for specific records or some employee i am getting error buse code core dumped.I am using oracle 8.1.7 and forms 4.5.I am not getting any erorrs in logs or application related.The application exiting with these error.How can i track these event.How to enable session tracing or set events.How can i trace in database level not in application level becasue this core is generating specific employee not for all.
    with regards
    ramya

    I completed testing all the code.
    First I verified that my makefile and
    runtime environment were both 1.1.8.
    DOMSample - ok
    DOMNamespace - failed
    SAXSample - failed
    SAXNamespace - failed
    Tokenize - ok
    So - what where is it failing
    I found that the parse method was failing
    ==parser.parse(url);
    The URL was not the problem. The only
    other differences in the example code is
    that these flags are set -- When you add them
    to DOMNamespace - THE EXAMPLE WORKS!
    // Set various parser options: validation on,
    // warnings shown, error stream set to stderr.
    parser.setErrorStream(System.err);
    parser.setValidationMode(true);
    parser.showWarnings(true);

  • CC: Fatal error in iropt: Bus Error (core dumped)

    Hi,
    I am now using the following version of CC
    CC: Sun C++ 5.7 Patch 117830-07 2006/03/15
    however, sometimes(esp when I have another background process running), when I try to compile, I get the Error:
    CC: Fatal error in iropt: Bus Error (core dumped)
    Can anyone tell me the possible cause? Thank you very much.
    Current directory is /cchk026/home2/cefbuild/emds-ha-sol8-103/vap_pack/isvapconnect9
    The following is the cmd I use to compile:

    "iropt" is a component of the compiler that optimizes code. A compiler crash is always a compiler bug. You have the current C++ front-end patch, but you should verify that you have the current back-end (common compiler) patch as well.
    If getting the current patches doesn't solve the problem, we would need a compileable test case that demonstrates the problem. If you have a service contract with Sun, you should submit a bug report via that channel.
    A possible workaround is to compile this module without optimization (remove the -O option).
    Side note: I see you are setting private macros associated with libCstd. We do not support modifying any macros starting with _RW. Those macros affect how the runtime library was built, and if you modify the macro settings, your code will not match the library. Possible results include failure to compile, failure to link, or unpredictable program behavior if the program does link.

  • Ldd: Spin.so: execution failed due to signal 11 (core dumped)

    I try to run ldd command on my shared Library Spin.so and ldd gives core dump on this.
    i have built the library with -KPIC option, so there is no chance of problem from Position independent code.
    same shared Library works fine on all the sunos machines(5.7, 5.8,5.9,5.10) except the one we have problem on (SUN 5.8).
    Is this related to some library building problem or something related to patch of 5.8
    Here is the specification of the machine
