Correct Representation of CIs in SCSM via SCOM DA

As a test we built a simple DA for Exchange/Email in SCOM with one component each - our MP's are all good including the dependencies.  However, when bringing the data over from SCOM into SCSM, the components (serves) identified in the DA are listed
as business service in SCSM rather than a component underneath the Email service itself.  How do we get the CIs represented correctly?

Hi,
I found that others also have their Distributed Applications from SCOM listed under Business Service in SCSM. Here is a thread for your reference:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/12d67bc6-a8c1-45f3-94fb-e66d500d559a/importing-da-from-scom-to-scsm?forum=connectors
Please make sure you have imported all the MPs that the DA MP relies on except for the MP that houses your DA definition.
SCSM has an "allow list" that determines what is synchronized and in order to prevent overpopulating SCSM with information that isn't valuable that "allow list" will only allow those things that have been intentionally enabled.
Please go through the article below to check the allowed list for the connector:

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

  • SCSM to SCOM Alert Connector Error

    Hello,
Long story short, the SCSM admin created an Alert Connector between SCSM and SCOM, then uninstalled SCSM and started over.  That means I had an orphaned SCSM connector in SCOM.
In order to set up a new connection, I followed the instructions found in Kevin Holman's blog post:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2012/09/28/opsmgr-2012-how-to-delete-an-old-product-connector.aspx
Now, when I try to re-create a new Alert Connector, I get this error:
"Found at least one other alert connector in Operations Manager.  Alerts may not be routed as expected if multiple connectors subscribe to the same alert."
I checked the SCOM server to make sure there were no orphaned connectors by running this SQL code against the OperationsManager database:
Aside from the copious number of SCVMM connectors, there were six connectors.  Of those six, the previous SCSM connector is marked as "IsDeleted":
Next, I checked the "Microsoft.SystemCenter.Notifications.Internal" management pack to verify that there are no orphaned subscriptions.  The ONLY alert referenced is for the "Advisor Data Connector".
At this point, my questions are as follows:
    1) Will the System Center Advisor (now renamed Azure Operational Insights) connector cause the warning message I listed above when setting up an Alert Connector in SCSM?
    2) Is there another orphaned entry in SCOM that I need to check for and remove before setting up the SCSM alert connector?

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you remove the subscription that was orphaned. When remove a connector we should remove the subscriptions first.

  • Lync availibility via SCOM

    Hi,
We recently configured SCOM to monitor our Lync 2013 servers. (2 STD servers with pool pairing)
When we take a look at the uptime reports via SCOM, we notice that it's reported down from about 1h30 AM to 6h30 PM
I already checked the servers, but don't see any issues in the application / system log between those times on both servers.
When I take a look into the details it seems to be caused by :
    Monitor : Availability
Object  : LS Web Service [lyncserver.ourdomain.com]
Any idea what might be the reason, and why it's reported as not available, whilst no errors are shown on the server?

    Hello D_Goossens,
Try to install the latest cumulative update for your Lync server, it should resolve your issue.

  • Business Services Configuration in SCSM or SCOM?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for someone with both SCOM 2012 and SCSM 2012 experience who can advise the best and/or preferred method of creating/populating Business Services in Service Manager 2012...
The reason that I ask is that once we have a rock solid process for logging Incidents and Service Request, our next major priorities will be to get "basic" reporting & change management working.
Change Management will obviously use the Business Services in the usual way - to manage changes that will affect the business service, whereas the level of reporting we want to obtain from the "basic" reporting is what Incidents have been occurring
(possibly which categories they were logged under) and which Business service the Incidents Affected.
Now, this is where I'm in two minds:
On one hand a "non-technical" Microsoft field engineer suggested to create business service "place holders" and then configure SCSM to use these "dummy" (non-configured) business services for reporting purposes.
On the other hand we have SCOM 2012 and I believe the preferred method is to import SCOM distributed Apps as Business services which has many additional long term benefits like being able to manage the end-to-end "Availability" of a Business Service
    etc.
My biggest issue with creating "place holder" Business Services in SCSM is the amount of time it will take to configure all the templates with the "dummy" services only to have to reconfigure everything once we Import the "Real"
Business Services from distributed apps configured in SCOM. It seems like a LOT of double handling to me.
So, my question is basically (bare with me because I have VERY little SCOM knowledge) is there a way to create an MP in SCOM which would contain a "Distributed Application Template" (VERY basic Config) which can simply be duplicated MANY times
and change it's name to match each of our Business Services. Once done the MP containing the Distributed Apps can be imported to SCSM and then the Business Service would still be "Dummy" blank place holders but they've also be the legitimate/actual
Distributed apps that we will want to be using later down the track.
If we went down this path and we kept an unsealed copy of this management pack, would it also be possible to go back and make changes to the MANY distributed apps to update the CI relationship information in SCSM?
Hope this makes sense... basically I thought it would make more sense to create the "dummy" Business Services in SCOM and import them to SCSM for use now and in the future rather than create the "dummy" business services in SCSM now only
to replace them with new imported Business Services from SCOM.
Your thoughts, ideas and guidance will be GREATLY appreciated.

  • Issue with SCSM to SCOM Alert Connector when AOI is Connected?

    Hello Azure Operational Insights forum,
I'm trying to connect my Server Manager (SCSM) instance to my Operations Manager (SCOM) instance.  However, I get this warning message when I create the connection:
"Found at least one other alert connector in Operations Manager.  Alerts may not be routed as expected if multiple connectors subscribe to the same alert."
There "was" a connector previously, but I followed Kevin Holman's blog to remove it.  Now everything looks okay (at least as far as I can tell).
At this point, I wonder if the System Center Advisor (now renamed Azure Operational Insights) connector is cause the warning message I listed above when setting up an Alert Connector in SCSM?  It's the only "Alert Connector" in the list.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I have also found this warning message. In my case, this is a new connector to a new SCOM Mgt group. the management group in SCOM is connected to AOI.
    Repo:
    1. Install new OM
    2. Configure AOI connection
    3. Create SCSM OM Alert Connector
Warn appears after entering SCOM Server details and run as account and continues until Connector is created
The warning does not appear to affect the operation of the connector based on initial tests performed.

  • Wrong node name passing to HPM via SCOM to HPOM SCinterop connector

    Hello,
We are experience an intermittant issue with our SCOM to HPOM SCInterOP connector. We are having an issue where the SCOM RMS server  name  is being passed to HPOM as the node name for alerts when in SCOM the node name is a completely diferent
    server.
An example would be an IIS appplication pool error that is generated. The path for the alert will specificy a SCOM Agent node, such as "server1.acme.com", however when the event is generated in HPOM the node name will come up with our SCOM RMS server
    name eg: "scomsrv1.acme.com".
We have an automated ticketing system which then generates a ticket in our service desk application however when this situation occurs it is very difficult for a non SCOM people to acurately determine what server is actually generating the error.
We are are running SCOM 2007 R2 CU6 and our HP OM server is 8.10 with the latest patches applied.
Any asistance would be much appreciated.
    Regards
    Tony

    Tony,
There are 2 issues that can cause this.
1 - The node name of the IIS server 'server1.acme.com' fails DNS lookup and the connector reverts to the the RMS server name to guarantee the alert is delivered to HPOM.
2 - The connector uses the PrincipleName of the alert generated from SCOM. If the name does not resolve in DNS the connector will revert to the RMS server and use that to guarantee delivery to HPOM. There are a few MPs out there that do not set the PrincipleName
correctly in the alert which causes this issue and it is really an MP issues and not a connector issues.
There's an internal doc that addresses this and provides a workaround. If you'd like a copy you can send and email to [email protected] and replace the something with xplatext.

  • 32bpp application doesn`t display correctly or crashes when we remote via SCCM 2007 remotetool

Synapse application is a PACS viewer used by radiology department in our hospital.
Synapse is designed to run in 32 bpp, therefore when we remote to it, the picture is not dispayed.
Instead it displays an error Your display is configured for 65536 colors. This mode is unsupported. Use 24 or 32 colour mode.
As soon as we disconnect or end the remote session. The picture on users workstation
turns black. Synapse needs to be re-launched  in order to display properly again.
Is there a way to set the Color Depth default  on remotetool to 24bbp ?
When we close the remote session, Synapse crashes or doesn’t display any pictures, leaving them black.
Here’s how the user would see it
On the other hand if we pre-set the colour depth to 24bbp before opening Synapse. Everything is displayed correctly on both admin and the remote workstation, while in a remote session.

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
To my knowledge there is no way to do this, however I would suggest looking at remote desktop instead of CM0-7 Remote control.

  • Unable to monitor SLES 10 SP4,SLES 11 SP3 and SLES 11 SP2 via SCOM 2012 R2

    Hi ,
I am unable to get SLES 10 SP4, SLES 11 SP3 and  SLES 11 SP2 under SCOM 2012 R2 monitoring. The PAM ,glibc and openssl are at the right versions.
Per the documentation SCOM MP for unix/Linux provides monitoring of SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server 9, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 operating systems. Does this mean it cannot monitor SP2, SP3 and SP4 for the same Operating systems?
Plat form not supported is the error which I get.
    Thank you much,

There should not be any problems with monitoring SLES 10 SP4 or SLES 11 SP2/SP3. If you are getting a "platform not supported" error, it may be that the right management packs have not successfully imported. Can you give more details on when
you get the error, and the management pack versions that you have installed?  And what Update Rollup (UR) for OpsMgr do you have installed?  The latest is UR4, and the Linux/UNIX management packs for UR4 are here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=29696 .  Be sure to download the version for "R2".

For the other issue, you may need to contact a genius, but first, you can try:
    1) Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.

  • SCSM - SCOM Integration for Incident Management Automation(Auto-ticketing)

    Hi Team
I have been doing lot of research on integrating SCSM and SCOM for Incident Management Automation(Auto-ticketing). I did configurations in SCSM, SCOM and it worked pretty well! :) However, I need some clarifications on Incident Priority calculations.
    Environment - SCSM 2012 R2, SCOM 2012 R2
Objective - To automate Incident Management for Each Service, I have picked Lync 2013 for Pilot testing.
    - Created SCOM Alert Connector action account
    - Created 3 SCSM incident templates for Incident Priority calculations (P1, P2 and P3)
       - Lync P1 Incidents (Impact - High, Urgency - High)
       - Lync P2 Incidents (Impact - High, Urgency - Medium)
       - Lync P3 Incidents (Impact - Medium, Urgency - Medium)
    - Attached is our incident priority settings in SCSM.
    - Created SCOM Alert Connector. In Alert Routing rules, I have picked couple of Lync classes (LS Registrar, LS Response Group, LS Data Conferencing, LS Centralized Logging Agent etc). (I don't want to target whole Lync MP as of now. Once the priority classification
is successful, I can target alerts from whole Lync MP.) While adding routing rules, I have selected the specific template for a specific class. For ex- LS Registrars class, P2 Incident template. Alerts that do not fit the routing criteria would pick up P3
template as default. Both check boxes "Close alerts in Ops Mgr when Incidents are resolved or closed" and "Resolve Incidents automatically when the alerts in Ops Mgr are closed" are checked.
    - In SCOM internal connector subscription, I have targeted all Lync Servers group and selected ONLY specific Lync classes (In approve targets) that I used in routing rules. Enabled "Error, Warning" and "High, Medium" check boxes in alert
    criteria
Now, the incidents are getting generated, but with wrong priority calculations. I may be wrong in configuring routing rules. Is there any best way to configure routing rules for different priorities? If I remove all routing rules for specific classes and target
entire Lync MP, how to configure the Incident Templates which I created for different priorities?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    regards,
    Guru
    Gururaj Pai

In Screenshot, it was a typo error in Rule Name, should have been Lync P3(Stupid error from my side!) Is it a correct of targeting individual classes in routing rules? Because, Any class may contain lot of rules/monitors in it. And if we choose P2 incident
template for one class, all alerts triggered out of this class would create P2 incidents. Is my understanding correct? Moreover, this just pilot testing of Lync MP and we have identified only few classes which are responsible for generating TOP 10 alerts for
last month. Going forward, we would like to configure the whole MP in routing rule. Then, how should I configure routing rules for 3 different priorities? Can you also confirm Incident Priority calculation is done via SCSM templates or SCOM alert priority
or severity? Thanks for your time. Guru
