Cost Splitting (KSS2)

I have a cost center that provides activities to WBS elements.
This CeCo have:
- Personal expenses $ 200
- Third Party Services Expenditures $ 100
- Depreciation Expense $ 50
Total: $ 350
I want activities are revalued only considering the Personal expenses costs and Third Party Services. The configuration I have defined a Splitting structure, which I indicated the group of cost element and group of activities, and assigned the cost center to that structure.
But when I run the transaction Splitting (KSS2) considers all CeCo expenses ($ 350) instead of $ 300 (Personnel Expenses + Expenses Serv. of Third Parties).
Could you tell if I need to configure anything.
Thanks in advance.
José Luis

Hi Jose
This is possible only when you transfer the expenses of 50$ to another Cost Center and then calculate the Splitting / Actual Act Price
W/o this, its not possible.. System would consider all the expenses posted in the Ce Co

  • Actual cost splitting error (Equivalence numbers)

    Hi
I am facing an error during actual cost splitting (KSS2) . The situation is working fine in the case of Plan cost splitting (KSS4)
I want to split costs in a cost centre based on equivalence numbers. But, i dont see any option of maintaining equivalence numbers for actual cost splititng. The option is available ONLY in KP26..
Hence, I have maintained equi no.s only in KP26. This gives me error in KSS2 Quoting some divergence error. The message reads that activity price calculation did not converge
It shows me a picture on screen which displays a loop between activity types. I am unable to understand it
Can any one guide me on this??
Any help wud be promptly rewarded

  • Difference between Actual Cost and Allocable costs in splitting KSS2

I have Cost splitting structure results with me(KSS2)
What is the difference between Actual Costs, Control Costs, Allocable Actual, Actual cost balance and which amount will system consider for calculating the rate with dividing the activity rates.

    Hi,
In Splitting Structure KSS2 There are two Costs One is Target Cost (Planned) and Control Cost (Actual Cost)
In Variance Calculation U will See Target Cost (Planned), Actual Cost, Allocated Actual Costs.
    Target Cost = Planned Cost
    Control Cost = Actual Cost
    Actual Cost = Actual Cost
Allocated Actual Cost = Actual Cost of the Output Qty. This is Actual Credits from Activity allocation. This is Actual Credits from delivery of Stock.
    Hope you are Clear.

  • KSII, Can FI postings flow into Controlling actual cost splitting.

Can FI postings flow into Controlling actual cost splitting and actual price calculation. I am trying post FI documents(FB50,FB60,FB01) with cost elements, activity type, quantity and cost center combination. I am able to post a document and then I do all the KSS2, in KSII is not able to show me that posting. I need to know, is it possible to move from FI to CO in tcode KSII , if yes let me know i am missing something. and i am getting an error message
    Message no. KP250
    Diagnosis
The plan or actual activity for cost center , activity type  is 0. However, costs were planned or posted in period(s) 2.

    Hi,
As you know, the system splits all activity-independent costs to the activities according to the following three step logic:
    -split based on target costs
-if not possible split by splitting structure
-in the last step if the above two were not possible split by equivalence numbers set in transaction KP26
In your case, if there is no actual quantity for the cost center, then the system will split by equivalence number. Therefore please make sure, that the cost center has actual quantity.
Further information is also provided in note 772794.

  • Cost splitting and Actual price calculation

    Dear all,
What is the difference between cost splitting and actual price calculation?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ar

    Hi,
KSS2 (splitting) is fixed cost splitting based on defined splitting rules. Fix cost splitting means, although the cost are activity unindependent (=FIX) they are splitted to each actual activity unit,... (based on the splitting rule you use)
This is/can be a prerequisite for calculating actual activity rates, which is done by KSII (actual price calculation).

  • Actual Cost splitting

    Hi,
Before I do the actual price calculation, I need to do actual cost splitting via KSS2.
Suppose that I have 4 activity types for one prod cost center and the operating rates are as follows:
    Direct Labor - 2.64%
    Indirect Labor - 6.92%
    Factory Overhead - 2.43%
    Depreciation - 2.75%
Below are the plan fixed and variable costs for cost element Wages which I was able to follow based on manual calculations:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 22,000; Variable - 113,000
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 50,000; Variable - 0
CE Wages is not part of Factory Overhead and Depreciation activities
I did not use the plan cost splitting because when I uploaded the expenses, the fixed and variable portions have already been separated in the upload file.
Suppose that I made an FI posting for the cost element Wages for the same production cost center amounting to 120,000
The target costs as computed by the system and which I was able to follow also based on manual calcuations are:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 22,000; Variable - 2,985.24
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 50,000; Variable - 0
My problem is in the splitting portion.   Assuming there is no splitting structure, system is computing the ff: control costs for cost element Wages:
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 35,206.79; Variable - 4,777.78
    Indirect Labor: Fixed - 80,015.43; Variable - 0
For these computations, I am not able to follow the logic.  First I tried to compute based on the planned costs but it results to a very high variable cost.  Then I tried to compute based on the target costs, the resulting amounts are (following 2 splitting steps in SAP help):
    Direct Labor: Fixed - 38,830.56; Variable - 378.84
    Indirect Labor: Fixed = 66,830.56; Variable - 0
Thanks in advance for your advise.

  • Activity Independent Costs -Splitting Equally

    Dear All,
When I try to split the Activity Independent Costs among various activity types ,Independent costs are being splitted equally among the activity types, even though I have selected splitting method as 12 (i.e. Activity Quantity) while configuring the splitting structure.
Actually the system should have splitted the independent costs based on Activity qty instead of splitting the costs equally.
Please help me out as how get the splitting of costs based activity qty.
    Regards
    Su

    Hi
Your splitting structure has 2 parts
    1. Where in you define rule.. here you defined rule based on 012 (Qct Qty)
    2. You create Assignments and assign your splitting rule here... I hope you have assigned the splitting rule here in the assignments
    3. I hope the fiscal year from which you assigned cost centers to splitting rule in OKEW is also in line
    4. Also check if you defined your target cost version in case you are doing splitting based on actual cost (KSS2)
    5. Also, in splitting rule, I hope you have assigned  a cost element group containing all your cost elements to this group and also your activity types between whom the costs are to be split up (In the tab "Selection for assignment)"
Once you do this, activity indep costs split based on act qty only... (KSS2/KSS4)...

  • Actual Overhead Cost Splitting

    Dear All,
We have 5 direct activity types and  3 overhead activity types in the system.
Plan Overhead  cost splitted perfectly  aginst the 5 direct activity types based on the activity quantity,
but when it comes to actual splitting:
1.the system splitting the cost eually in NEGATIVE  among the 5 direct activity types instaed of splitting to 3 overhead activity types
    2. system considering the all direct activity cost as part of one overhead activity types.
I am unable to understand how the system is behaving while splitting actual overhead costs to direct activity types
Can sombody throw any light on this issue.

  • Actual cost splitting - secondary cost element

    Hi All,
My knowledge on actual cost splitting for cost centers are limited.
Basically i am trying to use actual activity price calculation. In my splitting structure i have two different cost element group for two activities and i am using splitting rule 30 i.e., activity quantity. The system does the splitting perfectly based on the cost elements groups specified in splitting structure, but i am facing a strange problem. i have also allocated costs from different cost center to the prod cost center used for price calculation through assessment. But i havent used the secondary cost element in none of the cost element group for activities, but still the system is taking the cost of the allocated costs in secordary cost elements and allocates to both the activities in 50:50, which i am able to see in splitting showing as "division of activity-independed actual costs".
Can anybody please let me know, is this the way it works or something has gone wrong.
    Thanks
    With Best Regards,
    GJ

".....the actual costs are distributed on the activity types according to splitting rules. If you have not defined any splitting rules for a cost center, the R/3 System splits actual costs based on the <b>equivalence numbers</b> for the activity types. "
Your case could construed to be a missing splitting rule, because the cost element group is missing the secondary cost element within the splitting structure. As a result, the system may use the equivalence number of the activity types and distribute.
Check the <b>equivalence number</b> of your two activities, it  may be 1 and 1 for both activities; hence those costs getting divided equally.  I suspect nothing has gone wrong.

  • Use of activity types and cost splitting

    Hi All,
We would like to track activities for cost centers, but don't necessarily have the need for a sending cost center/object.  I understand in a traditional manufacturing set-up, you have sending and receiving cost objects that incorporate the use of activities.  Our business is a service that we provide, not a tangible product that we produce.
Here is the scenario.  We have activities that a cost center performs.  Cost center 1 will perform 2 types of "pick-up" activities, so this would require two activity types.  Throughout the course of the month, the activity quantities would get posted to the cost center.  So my first question is how can you post only quantities to a cost center--what is the t-code?  We're not concerned with incorporating an activity price, we just want quantities.
Second, as primary costs get posted to the cost center in FI, we want to split the costs onto the activities.  I have researched t-code KSS2 and can't seem to split the primary costs based on the activity quantities.  It keeps refering to target costs, which I don't really want to have to worry about.
What we're trying to do is a makeshift ABC scenario.  Since the use of true abc seems almost non-existent, there's not much info out there on it.  Does anybody have any good docs on abc in SAP?
    Thanks
    Kory Squire

    Hi,
    1. I understood your case in this way .
Cost Center A performs 2 activities . The cost center collects cost by Fi posting through out the month.
Now you want the activity type should nt have price , only it should have quantities.
And now you want to allocate the cost of the cost center to other object by activity types.
    If i am right..
then instead of activity types why not create SKF(statistical key figures) . At the month end by t.code Kb31n post the activity qts. for combination of cost center and SKFs.
Then as per your requirement run allocation cycle.
The kind of you are planning , in that case activity types to be converted as cost object ( it can be done in control area setting) and then you want to allocate.. seems to be little complicated..
Hope i understood and in turn i conveyed the message properly..
    Assign points if found helpful

  • Cost splitting with not-relevant activity types

    Hi,
We have 10 activity types for splitting:
    ZP01 - ZP10.
Everymonth the confirmation from process orders should be done only for ZP01 to ZP06. So, when we run KSS2, the activity independant cost will be split with these activity types.
For March 2009, user have done confirmation wrongly with activity types ZP07-ZP10. Once realized, user have reversed it.
When user run KSS2, the cost is split between ZP01-ZP10. When we check cost center report, there is no confirmation for ZP07-ZP10 anymore?
So, instead of splitting results USD 100/6, it has become USD100/10.
Does anyone faced this issue before? Any resolution?

  • Plan cost splitting is as per average basis instead of capacity base

    Dear Experts:
I have planned the activity independent cost in cost center : CCTRA
I do have two activities named: ACT1 and ACT2
I have done the activity capacity planning in KP26
Created the splitting structure and assigned the cost center.
Splitting rule taken as 23- capacity based splitting
    When I perform KSS4,
System split the fixed cost equally instead of capacity planned in KP26.
    My Settings:  In KP26:
I have maintained the planned activity quantity in capacity tab
Distribution Key - 2 (Distribution as before)
Plan Price Indicator - 2 (Plan price, automatically based on capacity)
In KL01: Under Allocation default values tab:
    Activity type category - 1
    Price indicator - 2
Check box for plan quantity set
In KL01: Under variances for actual allocation:
Actl Acty Type Cat. - Blank (As in planning)
Act. price indicato - 6 (Actual price, automatically based on capacity)
    OKEQ Settings: Price calculation tab:
    Plan Method: Average price
    Tried Period price also.
I need to split the cost as per capacity planning.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks
    Surya

    Hi Makrand,
Point No.1: When you say that the system is not considering the values you planned in KP06 but considering the values which have come by Distribution, system is behaving correctly.
Because, when you do the planning in KP06 for certain cost elements, you are doing it against certain activity type. So, for the cost elements which you planned in KP06, splitting structure is not applicable.
Splitting structure will be applicable for the expenses which have come through distribution only.
Point No.2: When you say that for the cost elements which you have not mentioned in splitting structure are also being considered in the same way as those of mentioned in splitting structure, i would suggest you to check the cost element group.
If not, pls give the rule "equal distribution among the activity types" for those cost elements which dont need to be absorbed based on activity quantity.
I hope this will work out...

  • SAP Query - material costs split by labour/ingredients

    Hi,
    Is it possible to create a SAP query to show the following;
Material / Lab unit cost / Material lab cost
I'd also like to be able to select r show 1 or 2 cost variants.
I essentially need a list of materials and their costs broken down into their constituent parts.
How can I do this please?
    Thanks

    Hi Commandante
You can not have WIP split in the FI GL accounts.....
However, there is a work around possble which can give you the break up in report
You need to do small tweaking to get WIP by cost component
    1. Define as many LINE IDs as your cost components in OKTZ
    2. For eg: If you have cost components like raw material, packing material, labor, machine cost.... then define similar LINE IDs and do the relevant configuration for WIP as per these line IDs.... Assign the specific cost elements in WIP config instead of masking....
    3. Assign cost comp str in OKN0 and choose product group = Material Group.. Transport it to production
    4. Run KKRV to collect the data
    5. Now run the WIP reports in KKO0
When you execute your KKO0 reports, WIP would be with the same breakup as your cost components
This is a tried and tested approach!!

  • Transportation Cost Split

    Hello friends!
Please, I would like to ask for some expert advice on the following issue:
My scenario is: I'm implementing SAP ERP (ECC 6.00) at a LSP (Logistcs Service Provider). The customer owns trucks and each truck is divided in two separate parts. Each part is a different fixed asset. Each part is, also, represented by a different cost center, because the customer wants to analyse results for each fixed asset.
When the customer sells a freight service two fixed assets are used, so there is the need to assign two different cost center that will receive the splitted costs (and the rule for split must be different in each case, eg: some times it will be 30% for one asset and 70% for the other, in other freight it could be 20/80, etc).
Do you have any ideas on how to do it? I'm still considering if it will be easier to adress this point with or without the use of the Transportation functionality.
    Thanks very much!
    Best regards,
    Douglas Cezar

    Hi, Kenneth!
      Thanks for the advice.
In fact we don't need to depreciate the assets, so I think you are right in saying that it should not be a fixed asset.
The SAP customer owns almost all the trucks. In some cases, third-party trucks (or "half of the truck") are used. In such a scenario, the transportation service is carried by a truck formed partly by a customer-owned asset and partly by a third-party asset. Also In other scenario, the transportation is made by a entire third-party truck. Yet there is a scenario where the transportation is carried by a entire customer-owned truck.
The important thing is: each truck (or "part of the truck") that is owned by the SAP customer must be handled as a cost center AND as a profit center. So, when I sell one single transportation service I must settle costs for one cost center (or two, or three, dependind on how much customer-owned parts forms the truck). I also must assign profits for one (or two, or three, ...) profit centers. Finally, I thing I must assig one, two, or three, different and dynamically choosen profit and cost centers to each sales orders.
Do you thinkg I can address all this points with use of packaging types?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Douglas
