Costing of a Configurable within a Configurable

Good Day
I would like to ask any experts who have worked with the costing of variant configurables.
Is it possible to have a situation in which a manufactured config material
consumes another config material which is procured. Although the "procured"
material pulls down the config from the sales order into it's purchase
order configuration. The purchasing costs are not pulled back up to the sales order costing.
The following error message is displayed:
E  No price could be determined for material/batch 7567/ plant
E  Cost component split costed with value of zero
Is there an FI/CO setting in config which will allow us to pull up the purchase order costs.

Hi Alex,
Go into OKYO whwrein you assign the Purchasing condition tyes to the Valuation variant & Origin groups to pull the purchasing costs.By doing this, you ensure that the costs are assigned through the origin groups of specific cost components to the cost component split.
Award points if found useful....

  • Costing Run for Configurable Material

    Hi,
When I try to run costing run CK40N for KMAT material, I am geting information "No materials selected" for the 'selection' flow-step.
    Below is the Error description.
    No materials selected
    Message no. CK277
    Diagnosis
Due to the costing variant used, no materials could be selected for the cost estimate.
    System Response
    No materials were selected.
    Procedure
    1. First, check that the materials you want to cost exist.
    2. Then go into Customizing and check the costing variant, the reference variant, and the transfer control. If the plant changes, a suitable transfer strategy must be entered in the transfer control belonging to the reference variant.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shiva

    hi Shiva,
It is not possible to do the cost calculation for configurable materials in CK40N or CK11N.
To do the product costing it is mainly required the BOM and Routing, but in case of configurable materials the BOM and Routing are not fixed(here Super BOM/Super Routing are used with valid object dependencies which may result in "n" number of material variants)
To do the costing for configurable material you can use t code - CU50 (configuration simulation)
Here in CU50 you can select the characteristics values which ultimately selects the valid BOM and Routing required for variant production and do the costing and check.

    HI lakshimi,
if you implement separate plant  you need to do below steps
    1) create activity type
    2) create particular cost center
3)maintain activity type price planing in kp26
    below mentioned are plant wise
    4) create bom
    5) create work center
    6)create routing
    7) create  materiel

  • Sales order costing (MTO) Variant configuration.

    Hi,
Basically there 3 different types of finished castings :
    1.     Special finished Casting u2013 which is a configurable material . this casting is saleable as well as can be used for manufacturing machined castings. This casting is been manufactured at plant : 8110 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
    2.     Machined Casting u2013 this is also an configurable finished material which can be sold as well as can be used as an BOM for manufacturing Assembly castings. This casting gets manufactured at plant : 8130 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
    3.     Assembly casting : this is also an configurable finished material which is always saleable. This casting gets manufactured at  plant : 8130 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
Scenario which is as follows :
    1.     Customer gives the PO for assembly casting at 8110 plant code.
    2.     Therefore Plant : 8110 will generate the stock transfer order to 8130 for assembly castings
    3.     For manufacturing of assembly castings in 8130, the plant needs to manufacture Machined castings in 8130 plant and for manufacturing machined castings in plant 8130 , the plant requires special castings which is been manufactured at 8110 plant.
    4.     So, firstly Special castings will get manufactured at 8110 plant with the reference of assembly sales order .
    5.     After that stock transfer for special castings will be done from 8110 to 8130 plant .
    6.     Then customer would start manufacturing machined castings
    7.     And then finally manufacture assembly casting
    8.     Finally assembly castings will get transferred from 8130 to 8110 plant for sale
    9.     Sale of assembly castings from 8110 plant respectively.
    Touch points of the scenario:
    1.     Cost of special casting and machined castings should get rolled up to the assembly castings
    2.     These needs to be executed in MTO scenario only because of variant configuration
    3.     While doing the stock transfer, the cost should include transfer pricing as well
    Problem Statement :
    1.     We understand that for configurable material , you cannot run the standard cost estimate, therefore the material master price with price control u201CSu201D is always zero. So when do the  stock transfer from of assembly cast or special cast for one plant to another then cost update happening at both the plants is zero.
Please suggest some better solution for incorporating this scenario inclusive of the touch points.
    Thanks...

    Dear Srinivas,
You can post this query to SD forum also for better response.

  • Reg:Product Costing  by order Configuration

    HI all,
How to configure Product Costing by order.
plz send me the configuration steps.
    regards
    JK

We have  a make-to-order (sales orders) scenario where standard cost estimate is updated in material master as standard price for finished products. We use CK40N to update the price.
We also have a make-to-order ( projects) where we do run standard cost estimate in CO version 1 but do not update  standard price in material master.  The standard price is zero in material master , before GR from production.
In a make-to-order scenario , you can choose to implement  to update or not update standard price in material master.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Cancel costs which block settlement within SD-order

    Hello,
I have an issue which is derived from an interface error.
    Users cannot manually produce it.
    Example:
G/L account 4711  1.000 USD posted in June on cost centre.
G/L account 4711 -1.000 USD posted in July on cost centre.
Result: It is balanced out (zero).
When looking at the field status group of the account only the cost centre is open.
The SD-order is not open and not visible during manual posting.
The account is thus not assigned to any line-ID in CO-PA which is o.K.
However, the Interface made a mistake and posted also - in the Background - to an SD-order item.
This can be seen in table BSEG for the FI documents in question.
Effect: The account 4711 blocks KKA3 (the results Analysis) because it is not assigned to any line ID.
...and we do not want to assign it.
Does anyone know about a trick on how to do KKA3 (and the settlement thereafter) nevertheless?
Thanks a lot for any Input.
    Thomas

    Hi,
I doubt that your cost centre figures are correct, the value type is wrong. The posting to cost centre is statistical in case a sales order position is another CO account assignment (this is the real one). So any cost center report reporting "actual" figures either does not report the statistical posting in june/july or mixes different value types (real/statistical) => no comment.
The only "trick" that comes in my mind is a temporary line ID assigment in the debug mode but I definitely do not suggest to make it that way.
A temporary customizing change for this particular case is the more accurate way, not to forget the correction of the interface.

  • Routing data for configurable products (Sales order costing)

    Hi
I am runnign sales order cost estimate for configurable product. here I want to confirm the activity quantity with cost estimate.
Pls let me know where can I check the activity quantity information . Pls help
    Thanks
    Sneha

    Hi Sneha
I am bit confused with the terms you used..
you cannot confirm activity qty while doing cost estimate... Activity confirmation happens during Production Confirmation
Are you talking about missing activity qty/cost in sales order cost estimate?? Contact your PP consultant... You should have a routing attached while creating the sales order.. If that is there, then Activity cost would show up in the sales order cost estimate

  • Configurable BOM costing

    Hi,
I am trying to cost a Multilevel configurable BOM in CU50. The header material has 'quantity structure' checked in material master and it has some planned cost in material master.
When i am costing it, it is determining the costing variant as standard PPC4 and transfer control as PC03 but it is giving an error:
" No itemization exists for material XXX plant YYY"
    What could be the issue?

Resolved....wrong Quantity Structure option in costing Variant.

  • Costing Of Configurable Material

    We have a scenario here.
We create the sales order in the sales Plant
We do a STO  to Production Plant  where explode the  BOM  which has an configurable  sub-assembly
When we run an  MRP this creates a another  STO  for  the configurable material  to be produced in the supplying plant.
    Now, the questions are
    1) How do I create the cost estimate  for the configurable material
    2) How do I get it to reflect in my parent order.
    Thanks
    Siva

    Dear Siva,
In the case of configurable material, they will be having a super BOM and super Routing defined with object dependencies.
To do the costing for configurable material you can use T code - CU50 (configuration simulation)
Here in CU50 you can select the characteristics values which ultimately selects the valid BOM and Routing required for variant
production and do the costing and check.

Maintain the correct MRP parameter for the material, i.e., special procurement type for stock transfer in MRP2.
So, you have set this up and it generates the stock transfer requests.
Note that the STO will have the account assignment for sales order stock.
    Check following links for hints:

  • Logic for configuration of profit centers

    Hi,
I'm through with configuration of cost centers in our company, now I'm due to configure the profit centers. One point is, in our sister concern, they have copied all the cost centers and configured the profit centers on the same logic.
could anyone suggest me on how to do this, if there is any copy procedure and what would be the effects of copying the cost centers and configuring profit centers with the same number.
say if a cost center exists like: 402010 which is mumbai manufacturing, can I have the profit center with the same number 402010 for mumbai manufacturing, and what would be the effect of doing so.
And can I copy the variances cost centers as well to make variances profit centers
    Plz suggest
    Regards
    Soujanya.

    Hello
Please go through the IMG settings, after you get an idea from the below info
The master data includes the master records for the individual profit centers, as well as the corresponding standard hierarchy and alternative profit center groups.
Your company’s standard profit center hierarchy may somewhat resemble the cost center hierarchy. Consequently, Profit Center Accounting provides a function which lets you copy the entire cost center hierarchy to the profit center hierarchy (see Customizing). You can then change the profit center hierarchy with the normal maintenance transactions to meet your requirements in Profit Center Accounting.
It is also possible to create account groups that are valid only for Profit Center Accounting. These account groups help you structure your information system to better meet your requirements.
It is possible to copy the cost and revenue element groups used in Cost Center Accounting (CO‑CCA) or the balance sheet account groups used in Financial Accounting (FI) to Profit Center Accounting, and then change them in EC-PCA to meet your requirements.
You can also maintain FI accounts and CO cost/revenue elements from the Profit Center Accounting application menu. However, these are not originally master data for Profit Center Accounting. On the contrary, the integration of the SAP system makes it possible for you to access the FI and CO master data directly.
The assignments of all profit‑relevant objects to profit centers play an important role. These determine how your business is divided up into areas of responsibility. You make these assignments in the master data of the original objects (materials, cost centers, orders, projects, sales orders, assets, cost objects, profitability segments).

  • Use of configurator across organizations

    Hi,
I have developed configurator some time back and we had just 2 organizations then (Say V1 and M1, V1 being master org and M1 being manufacturing org). Recently a new sales office has come up in Europe (E4 - Netherlands), which only procures the configured items from M1 and sells. With this background, I know it is possible to use the existing configurator as is to configure the products from E4 org and create an IR/ISO process to procure the configured item from M1. But this calls for assigning all the items of M1 which participate in configuration to E4 also to configure the model from E4 (Warehouse on Order line being E4).
Can someone help me with any other setup that would avoid assigning all the items which participate in configuration to E4 as those items do not make any sense to E4 organization
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Unfortunately, I don't think you have any choice in the matter. Since your Shipping Organization is E1, all the lines that are returned from Configurator into your Sales Order will be against the E1 org as well (just like the model line). Therefore, you will need to assign all the items from the ATO model to the E1 org --- even though they really are never used there.
In addition, you might want to look at setting up sourcing rules as well. If you are using an ATO models, the AutoCreate Configuration Items program will use the sourcing rules to ensure that the Configured Item BOM is created only in the manufacturing organization M1. The configuration item will be assigned to E1, M1 and V1...but the BOM will only exist in M1. In addition, AutoCreate will utilize Supply Chain Cost Rollup to generate the cost of the configuration in the manufacturing org and "roll out" that cost to the E1 org.
If you are using R12, there is new functionality that will allow the ISO to be generated for the M1 organization immediately as part of the "Create Supply" workflow step. In the past, this was only possible for externally sourced configurations (e.g. purchase requisitions). With R12, it can now generate internal requisitions which will create an Internal Sales Order in the Manufacturing org.
    Thanks,
    Jason
