Cpufreq drivers error on a pentium-m 1.73GHz (dothan)

Hi there.
Actually I am using the arch's default kernel (2.6.31) from the core repo and I am using a pentium-m processor.
I cannot load the speedstep-centrino module or even acpi-cpufreq module.
~ $ sudo modprobe speedstep-centrino

~ $ sudo modprobe acpi-cpufreq

So what I am using in the pentium-m is the driver (module) p4-clockmod, but I cannot get more processor speed than 600MHz (its a 1.73GHz) - I did the configs and even forced cpufreq to a given clock frequency but it does not work for more than 600MHz.

I'm trying to recompile the kernel with some options related to the cpu scaling capability.
also I have patched the file '/linux-2.6.31/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/speedstep-centrino.c' (from the kernel package)
with a more recent speedstep-centrino.c which can be found as an attachment in one of the latest replies in the bugtracker

No I have not hardcoded the patch.
The patch itself has been posted by an arch member.

When I was looking about the error (the speedstep-centrino module was not being loaded correctly) i found some topics about this issue in bugtrackers of gentoo and the ubuntu's launchpad.
I had access to various kernel archives about it and the user "toorlv" told about the patch.
You probably are confusing the model of the processor (the 715) with the number of frequencies.

for example, I am using a Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz
the "cpufreq-info" tells me that actually the supported frequencies are "798 MHz, 1.06 GHz, 1.33 GHz, 1.73 GHz" (notice the max is of 1.73GHz)
and
$ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies
798000 1064000 1330000 1729000
and I am not using the default arch kernel (in the repos)
as you can see my kernel is the one i built.
$ uname -a

notice that the kernel26-pentium-m "includes the module" into the kernel so its not loadable with modprobe. it just works without modprobe.

    Premiere elements 11 display drivers error:
    I cannot solve the problem with getting the drivers warning when trying to start Premiere E 11. Then the programme crashes, I have tried everything suggested in these forums. Remove baddrivers.txt (reappears each time I try to open PE 1). I have rolled back to old drivers, loaded the very latest drivers from the AMD website, Reinstalled PE 11, even tried a trial of PE13. Updated windows, turned ff everything else, virus checker etc
    I have a W7 64 bit PC with an AMD Radeon HD6670 graphics card, latest drivers - 15 sep 14.
    Despite all combinations of the above the programme throws up a incompatible drivers, update them' warning and then crashes.
    PE 11 worked fine up until a couple of months ago, so something has gone wrong. Can anyone suggest what else I might be able to try ? I am almost at the point where I shall have to look for an alternative editing software.
    Could it be some inner problem with my Windows ? But everything else works fine still, Chkdisc, SFC scannow, etc etc all turn up no errors.

    Did you receive any error messages during the installation process?  You can check your installation log files to look for errors.  Please see Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html for more information on how to locate and interpret the installation log files.

How can I get the OS to return a list of printers to Photoshop when Photoshop requests a list.

    Have you printed to this printer from 10.10 before?  If so, check your connections.

  • Drivers error recovering Windows Vista on Satellite A200

    I replaced the HD of my Toshiba Satellite A200. I replicate the original disk partitioning in the new disk and installed the original SO (Windows Vista) from the recovery disk.
    Everything went well. However, when I started Windows for first time, it was unable to end the autoconfiguration phase. An error message appeared on the screen: it had been unable to find all the drivers that it needs.
    After accepting the error message, windows rebooted the system without giving me any chance.
    Can anyone tell me what went wrong with the Windows recovery process?
    How can I add the drivers needed or skip the autoconfiguration process to do it later?

    That's completely right. However, after copying the image to the HDD, the system reboots and loads Vista for first time. Then, the system starts a non-interactive autoconfiguration process (it shows a label similar to "Please, wait...").
    Eventually, it shows an error message and shuts down.
    This leads me to think that the image copy process went well (the system loads without trouble) but then Windows loads a wrong driver to manage the HDD and crashes.
    I would like to know if I can change any option in a configuration file (after copying the image in the HDD and before loading the OS for first time) to make this process interactive or to load a different set of drivers to manage the HDD. Does anyone have a clue?

  • All network drivers error 31 Windows Vista 32 bit

    Dear,
    we have a desktop here with Vista 32 running on it.
    It's an Acer *sigh* Extensa E464, so yes it's old.
    The problem: all the network adapters in device manager are showing the yellow explenation mark with error code 31.
    The strange thing is, I do not know if it's related, that every network adapter (about 25-30, yes, I know, wtf) has an extra network adapter with Panda something... (can't add image before my account is verified :/ )
    So I google'd that and came on Panda security [profanity removed].. It might be related, I'm not sure.
    I can't uninstall the drivers, I can't disable the drivers, I have rebooted, I've done system restore, that did nothing to the problem, and Acer doesn't provide any driver information about this computer anymore (feel free to look) so I'm not sure what driver
    I could try to install..
    In my humble proffesional opinion, this is something software related, maybe something about the panda software thing that's getting in the way, perhaps malware.
    Any help/ideas are welcome!

    You need to update the network driver.
    Visit the website of the manufacturer to download and install the latest compatible driver.

    Running Win 8.1 updated from 7.. All in One 8500 910A Can do basic printing but no longer have twain support for scanning etc. When trying to update get failure notice error number 193. HP message says they have no further advice

    I see that you no longer can scan after updating to Windows 8.1. When you try to update, you are getting a failure notice error number 193. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
    Did you fully uninstall the old HP Software and try downloading the newest software?

  • Bootcamp drivers Error - Key Agent

    Hi All,
    I have recently reinstalled fresh Bootcamp (Windows 7 x64) on my iMac running Yosemite. However I'm having difficulty installing the drivers, I had to first bypass the issue with the x64bit drivers but running it through CMD but I get the Errors
    "Service 'Key Agent/Mac HAL' (Keyagent/MacHALDrivers) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
    I have tried following the instructions that seemed to be the answer for this:
    I had the exact same problem, only on a 17" MBP. In my case, Win7 event manager reported that BootCamp 3.2 Services failed to install, in particular the KeyAgent service (and without that you get no Apple keyboard and functions and apparently the BootCamp icon doesn't show up in the system tray).
    Event Manager said the BootCamp installer did not have sufficient permissions, so I went to dial down the User Account Control (UAC) settings (in fact, I turned it off). What I should have seen when BootCamp 3.2 update was running was a window to ask my permission to continue (allow the software to install). Instead, there was a silent failure.
    OK, so by turning off UAC that gives it permission in advance (you have to reboot after changing the UAC settings in order to ensure that it is truly OFF). After rebooting, I went to Programs and Features and found BootCamp Services as a software item. I selected "Repair" and after another reboot, I was back in business! Keyboard is now fine (including the disk eject button, which I wanted working). Then I went back to turn on UAC to its default level (one notch below highest setting). It is useful (normally) to have this on.
    Ask the Windows Help system if you don't know how to find the UAC settings to give this a try. Hope it helps you.
    I have followed these instructions, tried on all different UAC settings, (including resets) and by running repairs on the program in Programs and Features and but rerunning it in CMD but the same evil error keeps getting in my way.
    Anyone had and solved this issue recently? Can you install these drivers another way?

    I'm using adobe premier elements 10  [on windows vista 32bit if it's relevant] and i keep getting an error message declaring I have incompatible display drivers. [NVDIA] It's been working fine for quite a long time but has stopped working these last week or so. I've tried rolling back the drivers but that didn't work; I've tried updating the drivers but that didn't work either. Any help you could offer I'd really appreciate

    If you have Premiere Elements 10 on a computer that uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card, then do not bother with deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file.
    Your answer will reside in rolling back the driver version of the card to about May 2013 in order to get Premiere Elements 10 free of display issues.
    All the information that you need (description of issue and how to fix)  is in the Announcement at the top of this forum. For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of what appears there.

  • C260 driver error. intel(r)pentium(r)processor n- and j-series/intel ehci usb -0f34

    Hi, Ive just vbought my C260 all in one and soon after buying it shopw me a driver error. This shows when looking in devicers and when the lenovo solotion center runs. I have tried to rest and refresh windows but still get this error. I try to fix this issue but all it says is error not fixed. It also shows the driver as disabled on the solution centre. Can anyone help with this problem? Many thanks

    Hello  I have the same problem as described on here. I telephoned the UK support line who told me that he had never come across the problem before and e mailed me a list of drivers for the machine. I e mailed them including a series of screenshots to illustrate the problem and had this reply. Thank you for contacting us.
    In regards to your recent email this is an incorrect error message as it relate to the processor, your processor does not rely on drivers. Uninstall the driver from device manager and the error message should stop however it may reinstall itself when restarted. This error message will not make the computer defective in anyway.

    Sean I have e mailed a reply  Hello Sean I note your reply. This doesn't not however fill me with confidence. There is an error. If the computer is showing an error message which is not correct then this is in itself an error. If it cannot be corrected because uninstalling the driver will only mean it will re install itself on next start up (or presumably by means of windows update) then again that is in itself an error.  How will I be able to continue to use the computer with confidence knowing that any error message I receive may or may not be in fact an error . There needs to be a solution to this regards I am still waiting to hear back

    My HP Laptop hard drive crashed. I installed a new internal hard drive. I also installed windows operating system on  it.
    However I get error messages about driver recognition for wireless, ethernet controller, network controller, PCI device drivers.
    What do I need to do to get this resolved?

    By Windows 2007 I assume you mean Windows 7, not Vista.

  • "Searching for new drivers" error

    I have an imac G5. The printer HP PSC 1600 series is connected to Airport Extreme. The iMac reconizes the printer but keeps on searching for drivers and ultimately gives the error "server-error-service-unavailable." I downloaded and installed HP Print OS X driver, but it still doesnt work.

    I should have stated in my first post that I tried all the usb outlets on the computer and even tried a 4 slot usb expander to no avail.
    I don't have an extra usb a/b cable and both Staples and Radio Shack want $20 for that item. (Found it for <$3 on Amazon, go figure). So for a quick answer I took the cable to work and found a computer/printer with the same cable. I replaced that cable with mine and it worked fine. I suppose I will tear into it at least a little to "jiggle, tap and tighten" but it looks like a new printer is in my immediate future.

  • Nvidia Drivers Error with Windows 7

    Hello,
    I am having a huge problem with my MacBook Pro 5 1 and running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The Windows 7 setup is running fine with bootcamp, but all of a sudden when I start up into Windows, I get a split screen: top half black, bottom half is blue pixels.
    I have identified the Nvidia drivers as the problem, since if I start into Safe-Mode and remove them, Windows boots normally, but then attempts to reinstall the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT drivers AGAIN which causes he same issue.
    Until now Windows 7 has been running just fine, I need to know how to make this problem go away and get the right Nvidia drivers to install.
    My MacBook Pro Configuration:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro

    Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

    No, has nothing to do with Boot Camp support.
    Programs control panel.
    Device Manager.
    And you can tell Windows to not install basic driver support (though usually it is fine).
    And did you download Nvidia's? 32-bit.

    Apple's support for 9400/9600M though is different, 'unique' and doesn't work properly or the same as standard PC or as OS X handles it.
    Others have managed to get things working, so Google MacBook Pro 9600M Windows 7.

  • Drivers error (fastboot and flashmode) on Windows 8.1

    After update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, fastboot and flashmode (so Sony Mobile Update also) doesn't works.The phone (any Xperia. I tested Xperia J and Xperia LWW) is detecting as 'not recognized USB device'.
    I'm sure that this is not my computer/phone problem. Probably existing drivers is not compatible with newest Windows.
    I tried to reinstall the software / drivers - still not working.
    On Ubuntu fastboot and flashmode works well.

    At the moment, PC Companion and Update Service does not support software update/repair of Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia J or Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman in Windows 8.1.

  • 7.7.1 Registry Setting Used by iTune Drivers error message

    The auto update suggested updating my iTunes to 7.7.1.
    When I tried to download, the install failed.
    I downloaded 7.7.1 manually from the iTunes support website. On installation, I received the message 'Registry settings used by iTunes drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing' and then something along the lines that other CD/DVD burning software have caused this problem. It suggests re-installing iTunes, which I have tried to do but I receive the same message.
    I have not installed any other CD/DVD burning software since the PC was built about a year ago and have been running iTunes successfully since that time.
    Apart from standard Vista Home Premium related CD/DVD software, Nero 7 Essentials is installed (and I frequently use this to burn CD/DVDs - infact I used this yesterday before doing the 7.7.1 install today so I presume this could be the problem. I also have HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one printer/scanner has support software installed and Cyberlink DVD software installed but cannot recall the last time this was used.
    Any thoughts please?
