CR VS2010 and Silverlight

Why does it seem like SAP is making it so difficult to create a report viewer for Silverlight? I am creating a Silverlight 4 Out of Browser app. Why can't I have the ability to place a viewer on a dialog box just like in WPF? I don't want to use the html way of doing it on a aspx page because I am doing OOB.

Hello Azadeh
Saw your comment in the blog also.
Unfortunately, as per the blog, the solution is really a hack that I can not take the credit for, nor can I fanthom the slightest idea as to how to approach your requirement. See if the origianl author of the Blog content is still around and if he can help.
But I really have my doubts...

    There is a version of Firefox 4 available for PPC Macs:
    TenFourFox 4.0.1 Firefox 4 For PowerPC Browser Released
    Version 4.0.1 of TenFour Fox, FloodGap's port of Firefox 4 for Power PC
    Macs that supports both Mac oS X 10.4 and 10.5. has been released.
    Mozilla.org dropped support for OS 10.5 after Firefox 3.6 and for Power
    PC with the fourth beta of Firefox 4.
    TenFourFox uses almost all the same code as Firefox 4 and has nearly all
    the same features, including faster JavaScript, WebM video, and HTML 5
    and CSS 3 support, as well as new and emerging Web features, but with
    the code needed to keep your Power Mac functional and fast. Out of beta
    and it's ready for action, versiob 4.0.1 is a performance, security and
    stability update incorporating Mozilla's Firefox 4.0.1 plus AltiVec acceler
    -ation for WebM and browser graphics, and G5 JavaScript acceleration.
    For more information, visit:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
    Source: from http://www.applelinks.com - posted April 25, 2011)
    Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
    Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
    Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
    Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
    With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
    So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:
    http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm
    But the latest news is that Microsoft will probably abandon Silverlight in favour of HTML5:

  • Conflict between refeneces in Lightswitch\ and Silverlight\ after update to Visual Studio 2013 12.0.40302.00 and SQL Server Data Tools 12.0.50226.0

    After updating VS and SSDT there began a conflict with references in two directories under the SDKs folder (Lightswitch and Silverlight):
    Error 91
    The type 'System.Data.Services.Client.DataServiceCollection<T>' exists in both '
    ...\Microsoft SDKs\LightSwitch\v4.5\Client\Microsoft.Data.Services.Client.SL.dll' and 'both '
    ...\Microsoft SDKs\Silverlight\v5.0\Libraries\Client\System.Data.Services.Client.dll'
    ...\SPDCDataObjectContext.cs 1478
    52 Spac.DesktopClient
    I thought since the Lightswitch directory was newer that I would comment out the Silverlight directory and see how far that would get me. Now I get:
    Error 16
    The type or namespace name 'Composition' does not exist in the namespace 'System.ComponentModel' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
    ...\Spac.DesktopClient\GeneratedArtifacts\ApplicationGenerated.cs
    13 36
    Spac.DesktopClient
    How do I handle the original conflict between refeneces in Lightswitch\ and Silverlight\ ?
    Scott Mitchell

    Thank you. Yes that resolves the conflict but leaves some missing references like the "Composition"
    reference above. I was able to get past that by adding System.ComponentModel.Composition. This is after installing the VS 2013 update 4 build.
    Now I get the following. I'm concerned that I'm taking references from both Lightswitch and Silverlight
    sdk's just to get it to build. These references are required because of the auto generated code. I must have something quirked. Anyway what about System.Data.Common.DbConnection? How can I get it without
    referencing System.Data?
    Error 2
    The type 'System.Data.Common.DbConnection' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Help Wanted for VS2010 and CR!

    I have been having a hard time getting CR to appear in the VS2010 Ultimate toolbox. I have set the target to Framework 4.0 and installed the CR4VS2010 program but the CR viewer is not showing.
    The problem is worsened by the fact that I am new to CR anyway.
    I really have been banging my head against a brick wall.
    Is there anyway to check the actual installation of CR? The Control Panel says 2008 was installed. Are there any tips about VS2010 and CR working?
    Also are there any books about VS2010 and CR? I saw a lot of CR books but there were not about VS2010.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: Ludek Uher on Jun 17, 2010 8:34 AM

    Solution: re-installed cr4VS2010 and then checked Control Panel to ensure Crystal Reports 2010 was installed. The installation is very long and I think before it had not fully installed as especially the progress bar shows 100% but the installing continues.

  • Same Workspace for VS2010 and VS2013?

    Howdy,
    I'm setting up TFS on a system and it appears that you can't have two version of Visual Studio map to the same directory on your local system.  I already have VS 2013 mapped to a local path.  When I go into Visual Studio 2010, connect to the TFS
    server and then try to map the path I get the message:
    The working folder "C:\..." is already in use by the workspace ComputerName;UserName on computer ComputerName.
    This doesn't make sense to me.  I can't have all my source in one local folder?  Won't this end up with duplicate copies of everything that is in the repository on my local hard drive?  Am I missing something here?
    Thanks
    dbl

    Hi,
    VS 2010 can't use "local" workspaces. That was a new feature in VS 2012. You can create a workspace in VS 2013 and set the location property to "server". Then this workspace can be used in VS2010 and VS2013.
    Follow the steps in this screenshot:

  • Flash and silverlight causing high temps on macbook air

    Hello all,
    I've had my macbook air for just over 2 weeks and I've noticed that when I play flash videos on youtube and silverlight videos via netflix my fan starts going crazy after a while. I can do other intensive tasks without the fan having to spin up.
    Any suggestions?

    Your computer is doing what it is supposed to do. There are few applications that are as CPU intensive as Flash - this is why Jobs didn't want it on the iPad or iPhone. Flash makes the computer work hard, the computer gets hot, and the fans start up.

  • ADOBE FLASH and Silverlight

    accidentally deleted adobe flash player and silverlight plug in. Netflix and videos on Facebook will no longer load. I reinstalled both but it's like nothing happened neither one work. what's the issue?

    If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
    You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
    and confirm. Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
    If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
    Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
    Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
    You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
    Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
    If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
    if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Safari Flash and Silverlight problem.

    I have two large problems on safari.
    1. Flash: Whenever I play flash, the CPU jumps up to 100+, and then it doesn't come down until I close down the video.
    I have everything updated, and this didn't occur when I first got my macbook. Does anyone have a fix for this?
    2. Silverlight: I installed silverlight, but silverlight videos don't recognize them on any of my browsers. However, on "Help ----> Installed Plugins", it does show the silverlight plugin installed, but the videos just don't load. I've already uninstalled and then reinstalled, and tried Silverlight 2 Beta 2, and Silverlight 1, but neither of them work. Please help!

    These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
    It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, 3.1, 3.1.2, QT 7.3, 7.4.x and 7.5 and OS 10.4.11, and should also work with 10.5.4.
    Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11 (which is no longer in beta) for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
    Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
    The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
    (You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
    Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
    and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first.
    Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player versions (v.9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0) in some cases conflict with Leopard 10.5.4, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1
    You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed all the correct versions for your Mac of Security Updates up to and including 2008-005. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
    In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
    Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
    Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
    Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
    You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
    There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
    On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
    On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
    And now there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash should be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
    So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards):
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
    Recommendation: Close all applications before installing any of the above, repair permissions, reboot, and repair permissions again.

  • Safari - Flash and Silverlight Plug-ins NOT working

    Safari does not seem to recognize my Flash and Silverlight Plug-ins so that I can watch and stream videos. I might have messed it up, but I can not fix it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    There's no Auval or RA or Garritan Personal Orchestra in the Audio Units Manager in Logic Pro. Though Stylus RMX that I also use and Kontakt Player 2 are there and successfully validated. The RA and Kontakt Player component are exactly in the place you said they would be.
    I've since discovered that RA does not in fact work in Logic Express. As for whether it's loading up in Rosetta or PPC version - how do I tell that?
    I really appreciate your help but I'm still stuck at square 1. Any more suggestions?!!

  • Float calculation in VS2010 and VS2012/VS2013 C++

    Hi,
    There are some difference in float calculation in VS2010 and VS2013/VS2012.   (vc++)
    VS2010 by default uses FPU instruction for float calculation. while VS2013 by default , uses SSE2 instruction for the same.
    Can you suggest which is the most accurate result. FPU or SSE2
    Regards,
    Alphonse

    That tends to depend on the code you write. Without being a floating point expert I'll say that I find SSE2 preferable because it provides consistent results. Consistency isn't the same thing as accuracy but it's usually more valuable.
    Consider the following example adapted from "What Every Computer Scientist Should Know About Floating-Point Arithmetic" (required reading if you really care about
    floating point accuracy):
    void test(float a, float b) {
    float q = a / b;
    if (q == a / b)
    printf("Equal\n");
    else
    printf("Not Equal\n");
    int main() {
    test(3, 7);
    This code prints "Not Equal" when FPU is used and "Equal" when SSE2 is used. Needless to say, the SSE2 result is much more desirable.
    The reason for this is that FPU tends to perform calculations at a higher precision than requested. The VC++ runtime configures the FPU to use double precision and as a result all float calculations are actually done at double precision and the result
    is converted to float when required by the code (like when storing into a float variable). In the above example the right side of == will be a double precision value while the left side is a double precision value that was previously rounded to single precision.
    If you use only doubles it's less likely to run into such issues but as far as I can tell it's not completely impossible. The FPU rounds only the mantissa part to double precision but leaves the exponent alone. Presumable this can cause issues if very
    large values are involved.
    SSE2 doesn't suffer from this problem, it has distinct instructions for single and double precision and VS2013 makes use of them. If you use floats the calculation is done using single precision, if you use doubles the calculation is done using double precision; nothing
    less, nothing more.

  • Adobe flash Player 12 and Silverlight update

    Hi:
    I recently updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (12) and Silverlight. Adobe is still saying it needs to be updated and won't let me run anything that needs it. My school e-mail uses the silverlight portion of this and crashes Safari.
    How do I fix this?

    If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Flash and Silverlight don't work at all in Beta 34.0, when Internet Explorer properly works with these; happened immediately with update to Beta 34.0.

    Hello!
    Immediately upon updating to Beta 34.0, Silverlight and Flash, completely stopped working in Firefox. I am running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2.
    They work fine in Internet Explorer.
    This happens in any website I go to.
    For example, I can go to Youtube, and the page will show a black box where the video should be, but there are no play controls, or any way to enable the video. Clicking within the black box does nothing.
    On the music play site, Grooveshark, the site does not recognize Flash as being installed at all. (If you don't have Flash installed, this site pops up a message every time. Grooveshark correctly recognizes that Internet Explorer has Flash installed.)
    I updated the Flash plugin to the current version, which also did nothing.
    I have not reinstalled Firefox, or done a System Restore, yet.
    I just bought a new computer that I was going to migrate to, and retire this computer, so I was not going to do heroic efforts to fix this. I was reporting this more on the order of a bug report.
    Thanks.
    Karl

    This happened to me as well with Windows 7 32 bit (which I did as as upgrade from Vista Home Premium - if that might foul things up a bit) and affects Firefox 34.1 and IE. I did a system restore which took me back to Firefox 33 and Flash was fine. Later in the day Firefox updated back to 34.1 and I lost Flash again.

  • Netflix, Safari, Lion, and Silverlight

    I recently installed OSX Lion on my 2009 MacBook Pro. Today I tried streaming on Netflix and it worked properly for a few minutes until it froze and I received a kernel panic. I restarted my computer and was promted by Netflix to delete Silverlight and reinstall. I've done this about 4 times now and I still get the same error, either a kernel panic or a freeze and my MBP restarts itself.
    Anyone have a solution for this error?
    Thanks in advance,
    Linda

  • Crystal Reports and Silverlight

    After a bit of googling I see that Silverlight and Crystal aren't 100% as of yet.
    From my own playing around, they work 100% on a development machine but as soon as you publish your app then it starts moaning. I GUESS this is because you have to specify x86 or x64 to get Crystal to work properly, but setting a "Hello World" Silverlight app to x86 or x64 causes it to no longer work.
    I have however managed to build up a WCF Service for Crystal and then show a report from a Silverlight app by opening up a new browser window and using the URL to specify which report and its parameters. This approach is acceptable to us except for one missing "feature". When all I need is to generate a PDF file of a Crystal Report then I do not want show it in a new browser. This is where I run out of ideas to get this to work.
    Any help or comments on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

    I may be missing something here, but when you want PDF (you do not mention if you want to view it in Adobe viewer or just an export) ;
    1) Do not open up a new browser window and using the URL to specify which report
    2) Use this code to export to HD:
    ''The path/location where the exported file will be saved
            Dim exportFilePath As String = Application.StartupPath + "exported.pdf"
            ''Set the options for saving the exported file to disk
            crDiskFileDestinationOptions = New DiskFileDestinationOptions()
            crDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = exportFilePath
            ''Set the exporting information
            crExportOptions = crReportDocument.ExportOptions
            With crExportOptions
                .DestinationOptions = crDiskFileDestinationOptions
                .ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile
                .ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat
            End With
