  • Memory upgrade on Satellite M60

    Hello there,
I have recently installed Vista Ultimate on my Satellite M60 Laptop, it is activated and updated but I think it is short on memory. I have two 512 banks of memory and have bought two 1gb memory chips from crucial to install instead of the 512 banks.
Question is, I can find one bank under a lid on the bottom of the laptop but no other, where abouts is it situated and how do I access it?
I have done a similar upgrade on an older model and have no problems with working on the machine but in that case they were both underneath and easily accessed.
    Hope you can help.
    Russell.

    Hi Silas,
My apologies for my stupidity for not checking my laptop for memory before I posted. Both the memory modules are accessed via lid on the back of the machine on the M60.
I was thinking about another Toshiba we have in my office which has only one module underneath.
The machine has the 2 gb of memory now installed and performance is slightly improved using Vista.

  • Re: Question about RAM expansion on Satellite M60

    *RAM extention*:
What kind of memory should I buy if I want to extend it from 512MB to *2GB* or more for
*Satellite M60*-182 under Windows XP Home Editon with Service Pack 2
I mean: frequency, symbol, producer etc. to work properly?
    oczkim

    Hi,
your machine can be upgraded to a maximum main memory capacity of 2GB, which means:
to expand the memory to the maximum limit what the machine is able to, you must put 2x 1GB DDR2 S0DIMM modules with a frequency of 533Mhz in both slots of your machine.
I would suggest you the following brands: Toshiba, Kingston, OCZ

  • Satellite M60-164 need AC Adapter

I have a Satellite M60-164. I tried to purchase a replacement AC Adapter. I sent the part number to my supplier and they tell me that it is discontinued. Anyone know an equivalent compatible adapter for Satellite M60-164.......thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Weezie,
I did know about the part no. I tried 3 suppliers on the internet 2 cannot supply and 1 said it is discontinued. Even Toshiba website stop listing it as an available option. I was wondering which of the AC adapter for the other model is compatible. One of them must be. Toshiba can't just stop supporting a product, especially the laptop isn't that old.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Searching for a monitor icc profile for a Satellite M60-139

    i'm a grafic-designer useing a Satellite M60-139 - and therefor i need a color-profile for my Satellite M60-139-display - has anybody an idea where from i can get one?

    Hi,
From what I understand, you do not need to download or install any color profiles. It is exactly what the name implies, a profile. One you create and save on your computer. It can also be used to set different color profiles for different monitors. If you right click desktop, and then select the tab on the far right, then click advanced. Under advanced go to color management, and then click add, at which point it will give you a list of predefined color profiles. You can select the one closest to what you need and modify it to your specifications, and then save it. I hope this helps, if not, I can google around and see if there are any predifined on the internet to download, but I found none so far. Let me know how it goes.
Googling around, I found this website with some ICC's you can download. I hope you find the one you need.

  • Sims2 does not start on my satellite m60-167

does anyone have an idea why sims2 does not run on my notebook? it just shows the logo and claims "sims2 has noticed a problem and has to be finished."
why? there is no clonecd etc. installed...
everything seems to be on the newest standard on my notebook. what happens?
    thank you for help.

    Hello Petra
It is very strange because the Satellite M60 has very powerful graphic card. Like you know on this way it is not easy to give you any precise answer. SIMS2 is known to me but I have never tried it.
Usually some games detect problem with graphic card performance but the error message that have mentioned is unfortunately not precise. Please try to visit SIMS2 support page. Toshiba doesnt support game problems and you have better chance to become some advice on SIMS2 support page.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite M60-BK3: Cannot get sound after Vista installation

    Hi,
I've installed Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (32bits) on my Toshiba Satellite M60-BK3, but I can't get any sound either the correct video settings. I've searched on the internet and it seems that this Satellite family is not supported to be upgraded to Windows Vista :S
Does anyone have any idea of how can I get these drivers in order to make my laptop work fine with Vista??
    Thank you.
    Rodrigo

    Hi
This Satellite M60-BK3 model is not known to me. Where did you purchase it???
Try to install a hardware diagnostic tool to find out what sound chip and graphic card this notebook supports.
Then you could download the drivers from part manufacturer site.

  • Satellite M60 issue - needs an reparation

    Hello every body.
    suit in May, 2006, I offered myself a Satellite M60, 17" (for 1500 euro).
3 months ago, lines(features) appeared on my TFT.
Toshiba made the reparation which has cost 865 euro. Today, my mobile (portable) does not ignite any more.
We announce me that the mere card has to change, rising of the estimate: 570 euro.
Estimate which I refuse, naturally. I am with one "magnificent" mobile(portable) which has only 2 years.
ASP refuse to repare it at his charge. What can I do please.
Thank you very much for your answer.
    Lydie (from Nantes in France)

    Hi Lydie
Its a sad story and a little bit difficult to understand However, it looks like a hardware part is defect and an replacement is needed.
If your warranty is valid then an reparation should be done for free
If you have registered your notebook on the Toshiba page then an warranty should be valid for 2 years. If you havent registered the notebook on the Toshiba page then your warranty is valid only for one year.
It looks like your warranty is expired and you have to pay for the reparation
Unfortunately, but I dont see any other solution
Best regards and greetings to France

  • Satellite M60: can not install the newest driver for my graphic card

Can not install newest driver for my graphic card
    Satellite M60
    ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700

    Hello
First of all I really dont understand why you start two topics with the same theme. It is much better to have one topic with good content and interesting comments. Am I right? ;)
Anyway, in your case it is interesting that Toshiba use adapted drivers because of hardware protection. That means that graphic card will not be forced to run at the maximum level. Hardware cooling in notebooks is very problematic and high temperature can result with overheating or hardware damage. All hardware components are placed on small place. Graphic card produce a lot of warmness and it is not so good for all other hardware.
When you use non-Toshiba driver graphic card will be forced to run faster. Because of that every notebook manufacturers dont support usage of third part drivers. The fact is that hardware protection is priority.
I didnt make any experiments but according to some reports on this forum there is way how to install non-Toshiba graphic card driver.
Please check this forum and you will find many comments about that. One interesting topic is http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=18063&messageID=66186

  • Satellite M60-171 sounds like echo-well

    Hello,
My satellite M60-171 sounds like an echo-well. Reinstalling the drivers does not seem to fix the problem (problem hasn't always been there and no I have no idea since when this problem occurs...)
The sound itself isn't bad at all; but the echo in every sound it makes is anoying....
    Suggestions ?

    Peter

    Hi
Did you try to make system restore to earlier time? Maybe it will solve this in short time and you must not waste your time searching around und check all available options.

  • Satellite M60: USB devices don't work

    Hi...
I have a Satellite M60 and all USB devices with microphone (webcam, VoIP telephone) not work.
If someone could assist with some suggestions I would be grateful.

    Hi Enrico
In my opinion this has nothing to do with the USB ports.
If the USB devices are recognized so the USB ports works.
I think the mic doesn't work because of the audio settings.
Go to the control panel and choose the sound & audio devices.
There go to advanced and check the volume controls
Try to play around with the mic settings.

  • Satellite M60-128: at boot: black screen/delay/lockup

    Hello Guys,
    I've got a strange problem with a Satellite M60-128.
When I start the notebook there are some problems:
    * sometimes the screen remains black (no Toshiba logo) and the notebook doens't start
    * sometimes the notebook starts normally (when it hanged before and I switched it off with the power button)
    * sometimes the Toshiba-logo is visible but stops there
I also have sometimes a problem that the USB-ports doesn't work. When I reboot, It works fine. When the USB-ports fail, there is a warning in computer devices.
    I've done a BIOS-update (v1.60) but the problem remains.
I noticed this: when the notebook doens't start and I "click" on the toutchpad's right button the Toshiba logo is visible and the notebook starts.
Anyone familiar with this problem or does some knows a solution? Thanks in advantage.
    Andy

    > I noticed this: when the notebook doesnt start and I "click" on the touchpads right button the Toshiba logo is visible and the notebook starts
Very strange issue usually the notebook should starts automatically without pressing the touchpad button. For me this makes no sense and it looks a little bit like a motherboard issue
What do you think about this?
Did you try to reinstall the OS with the delivered Toshiba recovery CD?
Maybe you should do it to ensure that this is not a software issue
    Best regards

  • Satellite M60-176: Cannot install the graphic driver

    Greetings,
i'm trying to reinstall the original Toshiba driver from the site
on a satellite M60-176 with mobility ATI X700 256 MB dedicated
    version is :
    <name>VGA Driver (ATI M24C/M26P)</name>
    <version>V8.121.050322a-021880C</version>
    <comment>VGA Driver (ATI M24C/M26P)</comment>
The error message occurs when i install the software package : Setup copy dll, install some component and stop at driver installation slide with message ( translation from french ) "setup was not able to finish installation, try to configure your display adapter with standard vga one before executing setup
When i try to detect the card with control pannel and chose the CX_21880.inf file in 2KXP_INF, the process copy the dll, but at end complains that "a problem occurs in installation of Radeon X700" and then error is "ACCES DENIED"
I've tried to follow sequence as :
uninstall all, go to safe mode, delete video card ( i can't set a proper VGA other card )
I'v tried a driver removal tool ( Driver Cleaner pro ) then restart XP then try to reinstall ATI original toshiba driver : same problem
TOSHIBA support told me to upgrade to bios 1.60 : same problem
I can't conclude that original toshiba video driver can't be installed on a toshiba....
Actually i'm running display with standard vga at 1152x864 32 bit color with slow rendering
I'm really asking for help, because i don't know how to do...
    Regards,
    Ludovic

    Hello Jaba,
of course the reinstallation should fix the problem, but the binary image will erase all my data or configuration "customized"
I think that there was a mismatch in installation procedure or transaction...
    Now i've finally fixed it.
    Here it is how :
I've turned off the windows logger as i've seen that registry keys were locked because wrong privileges
I've reassigned the privilieges to current user ( ludovic )
After , i've suppressed all driver with standard uninstall
    Then i've supressed all dll
Tnen i've searched for ATI key in Current control set * , services , HKEY local machine software
Then i've procedeed reinstallation => it works
So Now i've the driver installed
If you have the same problem, i suggest user to consult following articles :

  • Satellite M60 - screen does not come on when i reboot

I have a Toshiba Satellite M60 and the screen does not come when I power down or reboot. It takes about 12 tries before it comes on. When the screen does not come on the computer still boots up ok just no screen.
I have to put it in standby mode if I do not want the hassle of trying to get the screen to come on. Is this a screen or inverter problem?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Mark
You cannot expect that someone here offer exact diagnostic to your problem. For instance, I can say yes, you need new display. And what now? Do you want to follow my opinion and order new display?
What you really need is professional help. Technicians know how to handle with such cases. Maybe just some cable must be exchanged. I recommend you to contact nearest authorized service provider. Explain them the situation and let them check your notebook.

  • Satellite M60: Need parallel port to connect Iomega Zip drive

    Hi guys,
I have a Satellite M60 and I want to transfer some files from my Iomega Zip drive .
My notebook does not has a paraller port, so I bought a converter in order to make it work but there was no result.
Does anyone of you knows how to resolve the problem and finaly attach my ZIP driver to my Satellite in order to transfer the files?
    Do I need another converter?
If yes, then which one? Or, do I have to buy a PCI card with a paraller port?
    Any answer will be appraciated
    thanx

    Hi
I never used an USB-to-parallel converter but an USB-to-serial port converter and I made very bad experience witch such parts.
As far as I know such adapters dont work properly.
Therefore your suggestion is not bad to use the PCMCIA card with a parallel port.
Check firstly in your user manual which cards are compatible and then you could try to use such card.
I think this would be the best solution to connect your Iomega Zip drive to the M60 notebook.
