Crashing out with Custom L&F

Hi, I have a couple of problems when trying to use OHJ in a (I think) basic fashion.
I initialise the hlep with:
Help help = new Help(true, true, true);
helpManager = new CSHManager(help);
URL helpsetLoc = ClassLoader.getSystemResource("help.hs");
Book book = new HelpSet(helpsetLoc);
helpManager.addBook(book, true);
helpManager.setDefaultBook(book);
This seems to work fine. If I try to use F1 functionality via:
helpManager.addComponent(myPanel, "myTopic", true, false);
then nothing seems to happen at all. If I try to launch it on the press of a button, using:
helpManager.showTopic("myTopic");
then it crashes out in a big way with:
java.lang.NullPointerException

I have a slightly custom L&F in use. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ??
Thanks,
Michael.

Hi again.
I solved the crash part. It was mainly down to my Look & Feel not having set some property or other. I'm not entirely sure which, but as the Swing L&F is particularly fussy (and terribly implemented), it would seem it's more of a generic problem, than one with Oracle Help. Anyway, It's working now for whatever reason, so I'm not going to worry too much about that.
The F1 problem is related to the fact that I'm using JDK1.4. Sun, in their inimitable wisdom, changed the way KeyEvents work, with their new FocusManager, so that only the component that has focus, can receive events.
This is no good for generic F1 help over say, a Button or panel, which may not be the currently focused component (you have the focus in a textfield, but want contextual help on the component you're holding the mouse over when you press F1).
Again, I've solved it using a workaround. Basically, it involves making sure any components that need contextual cursor-hover help, implement KeyDispatcher, and the fire events to their KeyListeners whenever they receive a KeyDispatchEvent and the mouse is over them (so they implement MouseListener as well). It's a bit of a kludge, but it provides the user with the correct functionality.
Thanks for the help.
Michael.

    Hello,
    Based on the exception message, I found that your project is build with .NET 4.0, you could consider changing it to .NET 4.5.
    If you want to keep it built with .NET 4.0, then you could consider the following fix.
    FIX: "Faulting module name: clr.dll" error message when you run a Microsoft .NET Framework 4-based application

    I have a double pack - Elements 9 & Premiere 9.  Elements installed fine, Premiere crashed out of installation process very early with the following message.  Is this just a faulty DVD?
    "Either Adobe Premiere Elements 9 is not installed on the system or has corrupted.  So please install Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and then retry.
    Your system has not been modified.  To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again."
    This message flashes up within a few seconds of running.  No sign of any application on drive C or start menu.  PC has been rebooted several times (without startup programs).  PC is an Intel Core 2 Duo running Windows 7 with 4gb ram amd lots of free HD space.  I have repeatedly tried to reinstall and it crashes out with same message very quickly.
    Can anyone please tell me where to start from here?

    Hello Mandeep,
    OK, I tried this but my serial number was rejected.  Do I demand replacement from my Adobe Premiere supplier? (on ebay) As you are 'staff' could you check the serial number i was given?  My serial number is
    I would add that the download link you directed me to was for the Premiere 11 version download, whereas I only bought version 9. Just version 9 is fine for my needs.

  • I have had my apple tv 2 for about 3 months which work perfectly fine when I use it with my iPad 3 ー all of the sudden I get the HDCP Error!  I read the forms and done everything!  Apple I name a loyal customer, please come out with an update soon!

    I have had my apple tv 2 for about 3 months which work perfectly fine when I use it with my iPad 3 ー all of the sudden I get the HDCP Error!  I read the forms and done everything!  Apple I name a loyal customer, please come out with an update soon!

    That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
    So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
    But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • I am having problems with cover flow on my i phone when i change to landscape and flick through covers it is very unstabale and jerky and eventually crashes out.

    i am having problems with cover flow on my i phone 4s 32gb when i change to landscape and flick through the album covers it becomes very jerky and unstable and eventually crashes out.

    A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
    But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
    If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
    Important thing is to get access to the TC.
    The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • Keynote crashes with custom images bullets

    Anyone had problems with custom image bullets? I am using a custom image bullet – a simple bracket set that's not supported by Keynote because it's a glyph – so I saved the image file as a png file and placed it as a custom bulllet. Now if I add a new text box (sans bullet) it automatically adds the bullet and I can't remove it. Also, if I try to copy and paste a text box it force quits Keynote even though a bullet isn't used. It seems like obviously the problem is the bullet so I've tried deleting it from all master pages and existing pages and it hasn't helped.
    I'm still using the old version of Keynote but would this be resolved in the new Keynote? I haven't read much positive about the new Keynote so I'm apprehensive.

    Hello!
    Can somebody give a hint here? We are blocked by this problem.

  • Problems with custom ringtone syncing after iOS update

    I recently updated the iOS to the latest version and it wiped out my custom ringtones.
    I resynced them but it only loaded three onto my phone.
    I then tried to delete them but when I synced again they were still there.
    I manually deleted the ringtones folder on the phone using ifunbox and they finally were deleted.
    Then when I tried to syc my ringtones back it only synced three (different three).
    Dragging and dropping isn't doing anything.

    Hello is anyone from Adobe out there? Is anyone from Adobe monitoring the forum? The 1.6 update has stopped the app from crashing when you were trying the sync function to the creative cloud.
    However, the sync function is not working as it did in the past. If you make a change in an already existing file in the Photoshop touch app and save it, the sync to the creative cloud results in an explanation point instead of a check to the left of the filename. Toggling the sync button on and off doesn't change the exclamation point to a check. The blue line goes across the file as it normally would when syncing but the explanation point remains. As a result, the changed file is not being synced with the creative cloud.
    I am not sure of the exact amount of time it takes, I am guessing about 24 hours. After about 24 hours when you do a sync, the file that had the explanation point to the left of it does change to a checkmark. However, you now have two files. One that reflects the change and has the word conflicted now added to the file name. As well as a file with the same name that doesn't reflect the change and no conflicted added to its file name.
    For me at least the sync function no longer causes the Photoshop touch app to crash. However, the 1.6 update also doesn't sync properly to the creative cloud.
    Making a change to a file in the Photoshop touch app and trying to sync it shouldn't result in the file not being synced or in a conflicted file. Could someone please help me in regard to this issue.

  • Anyone know how to contact anyone in Verizon headquarters?  Since I'm not getting anywhere with Customer Service

    I'd like to express how unsatisfied we have been with Verizon on an issue that has been ongoing now since March 14, 2014.  It involves an upgrade on one of our lines.  After all these months, phone call with customer service, Tech support, and visits to a Verizon stores, I would hope that there are ample notation on our acct but since I've had to explain the situation on a bi-weekly time frame, I would assume that no one has documented any contacts.
    We've been with Verizon for few yrs now and I have always been very satisfied with Verizon who, up until now , always provided excellent customer service in their knowledge, concern, and customer satisfaction.  But I have to say, every positive outlook I've had with your company has been wiped clean with the worst service we have received in the last few months.
    We upgraded my daughter's phone on 03-14-14 with a Samsung Galaxy Mini from an Iphone 4s.  Within 24 hrs, the phone failed.  After 2 visits to a Verizon store the next day which took 6 hrs, we still had to return the next day to speak to a manager.  The 2 stores advised us to make a CLAIM on the defective phone thru our insurance plan with Verizon.  A CLAIM on a 24 hr old phone!!  A 3rd visit with a manager finally convinced him to replace the phone with another new phone at the store.  Within 2 weeks - issues began to occur with the replacement phone.  Several visits more, several calls more with Customer Service, several calls more with tech support which adds up to soooo many of our time taken up to simple have temporary "fixes" is outrageous.  If I billed Verizon for my time, perhaps the situation would have been resolved more quickly.  Each visit lasts approx 2 hrs, each phone call approx 1-1 1/2 hrs.  We are talking at least 2x a month for the course of 5 1/2 months.  Plus the time it takes to get the phone back to where she needs it - contacts, apps, internet.
    Not once were we offered a new phone or replace the phone.  Not until today.  Replace the phone with the same phone that my daughter has grown to hate.  So basically a 3rd phone - same phone.  She is not interested in this phone any longer.  She dealt with this phone model for far too long.
    Today we were offered to replace the phone with same phone, or pay for a refurbished Iphone 4.  So basically she would be going back to her original Iphone 4s before the upgraded WITH a cost.  So her upgrade was wasted, we'd paid over $200 for a defective phone, and would need to pay for an even older model Iphone 4 and have to pay for it.  Why wasn't she offered a different phone within those 30 days after the upgrade and 6 visits?
    Every rep at the stores, every rep in tech support would provide a different reason for the issue.  Finally, tech support advised not to download apps.  WHAT GOOD IS A SMARTPHONE IF YOU CAN'T HAVE APPS???  We are talking about a 20 yrs college student who attends school in another state.  Do you know the trouble she has to go thru to visit a store? To find 2 hrs between being a full time student with 2 jobs to sit on the phone with a tech support or go to a Verizon store?  Once-ok  Twice-maybe  BUT for 5 months?
    She's not eligible for an upgrade.  She will be stuck with a phone that she had grown to hate.  And I with customer service which I've grown to hate.
    Finally, The Edge.  Trying to find a way to make my daughter happy, I spoke with 4 representative today about the Edge.  Each rep gave me 4 different information.  1st rep advised Edge phone could not be used on another line so I could not use a line eligible for the Edge and give that phone to my daughter since she isn't eligible for the Edge.   2nd rep advised that although new phone thru edge must be used by same number that it was eligible for, we could use the current phone o that line for my daughter.  My son currently has an Iphone 5 and is eligible for the Edge early upgrade.  He would not have to return his Iphone 5 so my daughter could use it.  However, all the lines would have to go to the More Everything Plan and share the Data between all our phone lines.  3rd rep advised the cost would almost double from our current $358 to go to the More Everything Plan so suggested to have 2 accounts vs just 1.  4th rep advised not every line needs to go the More Everything Plan, we could not keep the current phone, and my daughter could get a replacement phone but same phone or made exception to offer the Edge early upgrade to my daughter but only after we go thru the replacement program because the phone we send to Verizon has to be in good working order/no defects.
    After 5 1/2 months, it is now Verizon that is indicating that we have a defective phone and can't accept it thru the Edge program or we would get billed approx $299 for a defective phone.  After 5 1/2 months of me calling in about a defective phone that not one rep replaced because they "fixed" the problem ( by the way, a temporary fix is not fixing, if it was fixed I would have made those calls today or writing this email), I am now being told her phone is defective.  She advised to get a replacement phone first, return the old phone, activate the new phone, then call in to get the Edge early upgrade.  So my daughter would have to do all this, plus add contacts back, apps and whatever else she needs to use her phone just to turn around a couple weeks later and do it all over again with the new phone thru the Edge program.  Once again, we are the ones having to be inconvenienced and go thru all these steps.  Did I mention she is going to be studying abroad in Italy beginning Nov?  So the idea of having to wait 2-3 weeks for a new phone and having only a week or 2 to test the phone to make sure it's working properly before she's out of the country doesn't sound appealing to me.  Verizon has made us have a defective phone for 5 months advising it's in good working order after each and every "fix" but Verizon will not accept that phone if returned in the same condition as a phone in good working condition.  Do you see the irony in that?
    I have reached my limit and after 5 yrs of my brother in law trying to convince us to switch to AT&T where he works in their Corporate Office, I can honestly say I will not be sad to leave Verizon.  Especially when one of your reps simply provided me with the contract end dates to provide to AT&T because they offered to buy out our contract.  No effort in customer retention what so ever.  That was a phone call on Thursday.
    And yes, one of your tech reps tried to convince me of all the hassle it would be to switch and time AT&T would take to buy out our contracts but honestly it was the pot calling the kettle.  I am not in the position to discuss hassle and time after 5 months of getting that with Verizon.  Did I mention it's my brother in law so we would be getting special treatment and no out of pocket expenses to switch.  It was my loyalty and satisfaction with Verizon that has kept me from switching all these years.  Something Verizon clearly does not appreciate.
    So can you guess where I am with confidence that your customer service department is knowledgable about the plans/offers?  Where I am that I can trust what I'm being told?
    I know this email is confusing and really hard to understand...perhaps now you will know how i've been feeling--lost and confused with all the mis-information, with a hit and miss phone, and out of time with all the 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs EACH wasted on this issue.
    On top of all this, I can't even find out how to file a complaint with anyone higher up than Customer Service.

    I hate to tell you this, but you didn't write an email. You wrote a discussion post on the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is a public peer to peer forum. Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, the VZW reps that roam this community won't ever see your post. Before you re-post it, don't. Duplicate posts get removed from the community.
    I see there were several missteps both by the reps and yourself in your post. First you should have insisted on returning the phone within the 14 day return policy period. Second which Samsung Galaxy mini model did you purchase? The S3 mini or the S4 mini? Did you do any research prior to deciding on this device. The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

    I'm pretty sure that asus_acpi is not need for the EEEPC. I have looked at various different configs, looked at what has been loaded on the stock kernel on 2.6.28, etc...
    I'm nearly positive this is a kernel bug and I have reported as such: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12831

  • Help....I'm tearing my hair out with BT's cutomer ...

    If you think you have heard everything on this forum…read this sorry tale of bad customer service! [Sorry for the length of the article, but I could not put the whole thing into less words!]
    We moved house about 8 months ago, and had our phone line/broadband and BT Vision service moved to our new address. Everything went like clockwork, and BT did exactly as promised.
    We moved again 2 weeks ago, and again everything went without a hitch, all our BT services were moved as promised on the right day, and I was telling everyone how great BT were …..but then it all went wrong!
    Two days after the move I received an e mail from BT saying they understood I had decided to go with another provider, and they were therefore cutting my services off that day. I immediately got on the phone to BT and explained that I had not spoken to any other provider, had been a BT customer for over 40 years, and was very happy with their service. After been passed around from pillar to post, from the UK to India, back to the UK, back to India and then back to the UK, [after 1 hour and 50 minutes on the phone!!] I eventually got through to someone at their Newcastle office, and when I explained everything to him, for the fifth time!, he said he did not know how this could have happened, and could not tell me who this other provider was, but would pass this case on to someone to investigate as it appeared that my address listed with them was the one I had before the previous move 8 months ago, and in the meantime he said he would cancel the order so as not to disconnect my services. It appeared to me as though someone at BT had never updated my details after my original house move, but as everything seemed to be working perfectly at our new address, I was not unduly concerned….after all BT had been sending me a paperless bill for the last 8 months, which I had been paying, and indeed on the day of my phone call I had just received the bill for the next month’s charges in advance. They had also sent letters through the post to me previously at the two previous addresses, and my new address, to confirm the house moves, so I could not understand why they would not have my new address, as they had just written to me there!
    I decided to send an e mail to BT Customer Services, just to confirm in writing everything that had gone on, and was promised a reply within 24 hours.
    Four days later, I got a phone call from BT staff in India, saying he was responding to my e mail. He  then tried to sell me a new BT phone/broadband and TV package as he again said I had gone with another provider, and quoted a much higher price than I am currently paying!!. I explained again what had happened, that my line rental was paid in advance for 12 months, and my broadband and TV account was paid up to date, everything on my account [phone line, broadband and BT Vision] was all working without a problem and that I had never spoken to any other provider because I was happy with the service from BT. After another 30 minute conversation, he obviously could not get his head around my situation, so suggested that I contact the other provider, and tell them that I wished to cancel the contract with them. I asked him who this other provider was, and he said he did not know. I then asked how he expected me to contact them if neither he nor I know who this was. This seemed to leave him speechless, as he had not come across a situation such as mine before and obviously had no script sheet to deal with this problem. He could not offer any further assistance
    As everything was continuing to work without problems, I did not pursue the matter further.
    Today, I decided to order a BT Sport Card for my Vision Box  and went on line to order it  because the phone number given to me, said they were so busy with new business that they could not take any calls, and it was therefore necessary to order it on line. When I tried to do this, guess what happened…..I was told I did not have a phone line with BT!!! ….even though I was using their broadband to contact them!!!
    After calming down for a couple of days, I decided to ring BT on their dedicated Sport phone line, and got hold of a very helpful girl in the UK, who tried to process my order, but came up with the same problem….they had no record of me having a BT phone line. When I explained to the girl that I was actually speaking to her on their BT line, she went away to talk to someone and after a few minutes came back and said she could not process my order for a card, and an investigation would have to be made to find out exactly why I was showing on their records as not a BT customer. She promised that the investigation would be dealt with within a week.
    A week later, [13/8 ] after hearing nothing further, I contact the BT Sport phone number again, and relayed everything that had gone on previously. After looking at my file again, they now decided I that my account slammed [this is the term apparently, when another provider takes over your phone account, without your permission] He said that my account could be reinstated with BT if I wished, but that it would take till 22/8 before this could be actioned for some reason. He also found that I now had 2 accounts with them….one in my name at my current address for BT Vision, and another account in someone else’s name at the address I lived at two houses ago in someone else’s name for the phone line and broadband. As everything was working at my end, I had to accept this. I did ask why, if another provider had taken over as he suggested, why had I no knowledge of this, having not spoken to anyone else or had correspondence from anyone else….and what therefore did another provider have to gain?.....he could not give an explanation . I asked for confirmation by e mail, that my account would be reinstated on 22/8 on the same terms as I had previously had, and he agreed to do this within 24 hours. [ of course no e mail has arrived!]
    Also I forgot to ask BT, if another provider had taken over my account, why were BT not asking me for compensation to cover the eight months of my 12 month contact with them which still had to run, which I understand would be about £225?...which leads me to think that this problem is nothing to do with another provider taking over my service, but much more likely a c!!k up within BT own set-up.
    As I said earlier in this piece, I have been a loyal BT customer for over 40 years. I have always stuck with BT, despite the fact that their price is one of the highest, and that more attractive offers keep coming through my letter box and through the media all this time. I am now wondering where I go from here. I do not want to spend more hours on the phone, being past from one department to another, without the matter being resolved. I cannot believe that a company such as BT which is all about communication can be so difficult to communicate with….and as for their customer services set up….who can afford to spend hours on the phone these days!.
    BT take notice, you need to have more staff, who are better trained in product knowledge on your customer service phones, so that customers are not just past from one department to another, spending hours on the phone getting nowhere!
    As a final insult….today, the 23rd August, I have just gone on line to see if my phone line is shown as active with BT for the purpose of obtaining a BT Sport Card, as promised…..you guessed it….still showing that I do not have a line with BT even though everything is working correctly at my end!
     I will certainly be looking around this time when my 12 month contact expires.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I just thought I should post this comment, to say my long running problem has finally....FINALLY been sorted out!
    It was actually really fixed at the end of September, but I have waited till now, until I received my first proper bill to feel confident enough to say it is finally sorted out.....but what a long winded process!...it took over a month to sort this out, with endless hours on the phone, and endless promises not kept.
    The problem with BT's customer service is the fact that going through normal channels, no one person can sort a problem out. You get passed from pillar to post, with every department saying that it is someone else's area of responsibility and then it takes hours on the phone with various deparments in different countries, to get a commitment to sort it out, and then nothing happens!
    It was only after posting my final desperate plea on this forum, for all the world to see, that I finally got one of the Moderators to take up my case, and sort the problem out, although it took him over a month to get through all the treacle of BT's admin before a solution was found.
    I am very greatful to the Mods for dealing with my problem, which was not of my making, but was due to something going wrong with BT's system.
    There is however something fundamentally wrong with BT's Customer Service set up, where no one person seems to take responsibilty for a CXXk-up on their part, and seems unable to have the authority to sort it out.
    Once again, Thank you Mods for your help.

  • I reached my 1000th hour logged on the phone with customer service

    I've been using Verizon jetpacks for 9 months now.  Seemed like a sweet deal. Prepaid. Convenient. Fast and reliable.  WRONG!  I logged my 1000th hour on the phone with customer service today after a 5 hour "troubleshooting" session, second one this week. I've been having to make this exact 5 hour phone call every week sometimes up to 4x per week.  I've never spent less than 3 hours on the phone or gone more than 4 days without having to contact customer "service."  Naturally, this is pretty ignorant sounding.  But, I paid $100 for a significantly small amount of data.  I prepaid to be exact. For a service to be rendered one must be able to receive the service paid for.  That's simply not the case.  I paid $100 for this data already and can't actually use it with any convenience. Unless of course, 5-20 per week on the phone with customer service is typical of any other company.  Other than Virgin Mobile, No.  It's in fact an extremely absurd amount time for ANY customer to spend on the phone with ANY customer service.  No exception.  I feel rather abused, used and ****** over by this so call "service".  I lost 6 clients. They all sued me in small claims for $3000 each for failing to maintain my end due to my weekly dose of hours on the phone with customer service and NOT doing the job I was employed to do. Nope. Instead, I spent my time with Verizon Customer Service and COURT! Yay!  So, I've lost my home, my car was repo'd, $18k loss, 6 customers... and not one time has Verizon spent one second and said to me "Verizon could be the problem"... NEVER has that been the case in all 1000 hours logged.  Interesting?  No.  Just abusive.  I resent having to call customer service at all any more. It's even causing my mental health to suffer after all this.  You know what is found every time?  I'm on a prepaid plan on a device customer service told me to purchase.  But wait... thats the second device.  Every week I'm told The OTHER device is the one that works with this plan... then a few days later, no that other device is the one that works with the plan, a few days later... The OTHER DEVICE IS THE ONE THAT WORKS.. FFS. See a pattern? I've been directed by Verizon to replace my device 3 times, at $100+ per device plus the $10 sim card, plus the 5 hours on the phone with them every few days.  I'd say there's an issue with customer service.  First, yes it IS possible there is an issue on YOUR end.  I'm pretty sure that having to buy a new device every time I call isn't really the best answer.  Second, for the extremely limited amount of data I can't afford to watch a video for fear of capping my data before the end of the 30 days because its 10gig of data.  Yeah, 2 whole movies worth!  Third, its possible to be wrong, yet Verizon has never, not one single time chose to check their end.  ALWAYS and ONLY my end. I don't find that surprising or ironic, I find it the most ignorant and worst customer service in existence only second to Virgin Mobile.  Virgin mobile did finally acknowledge the issue was in the broken tower nearby. It took them 6 months and yes... 100's of hours on the phone.  Verizon hasn't made any effort to accept responsibility for this issue.  I'm sure they are very sincere when they are consuming my 5 hours per phone call trouble shooting my device for the third time this week.  It's actually to the point where they have violated their terms of service and failed to look into an issue on their end.  The tower has been hit.  Hmmm... Ironic. Its quite a distance from here, but is a main tower that has caused an outage across my state. Verizon couldnt tell me that?  Is that admitting your wrong so hard to do that it's easier to spend 5 hours on the phone trouble shooting my device than 5 mins looking for outages?  Yeah, it could have saved my house and job, but I'm the customer... clueless idiot at the mercy of a company who is never wrong nor makes an effort to correct an issue on their end before stealing my hours from me.  At one point, I actually fell asleep in my 2nd hour on hold.  Customer service? Nope, a waste.  I could dig it if this issue was on my end, but I'm confident that spending up to 20 hours a week troubleshooting to no avail is a HUGE red flag that its not on my end after all.  Only cost me a house, a job, car and $18k plus court costs and fees.  Fair? Nope.  But it would be nice if just ONCE there was an initiative to provide actual support to a customer. I KNOW if this is my experience it is impossible to be an isolated incident with me alone.  If I'm tying up 5 hours on the phone, what is the next guy doing? waiting to trouble shoot his box for the next 5 hours over a downed tower. Pride is what that is. People too proud to be wrong at someone else's expense. Definitely an issue if I've paid $900 in 9 months and I spent more hours on the phone with customer service than I have online.  Pretty ******. Verizon, you ARE WRONG. Owning it would save the embarrassment of having to ***** about it on this site. I didnt' deserve my losses and it was at my expense and it is STILL at my expense that I'm having to contact that 888-294-6804 number. I've got it memorized like it was my best friends number - that's how often and how many times i've used it. Shame how simple it would be if Verizon wasn't so ******* proud and spent a few moments looking for issues on their end before stealing 5 hours from me doing the obvious over and over and over again... Small claims can be used to sue up to $3k. Looks like that's my only alternative, perhaps if I do that maybe checking for issues on their end will occur instead of pretending its impossible.  It feels like I went to mcd's and paid for a meal at the window that took 5 hours to get a bag of raw patties thrown at me from inside after sitting at the window for 5 hours and waiting. I'm wrong  of course. I'm am the customer.  How could I possibly be right? I've troubleshooted my device over 1000 times. Of course its on my end. Must be.... 1000 times isn't enough to find out there's a potential issue that isn't related to my specific device, no? Is it gonna take 1000 more hours on the phone before one of the representatives decide to look for an outage before the 5 hours of daily trouble shooting? Thats a huge red flag that just keeps getting ignored.  I can't think of any other companies besides these two internet providers that finds that acceptable.  Better Business Bureau didn't. I'll be filing that complaint with them next.  High time Verizon stepped off such a prideful pedestal and seek a remedy before a class action suit sinks them in the future from all other raging bitches not being provided with reasonable service.  It's not a rant, this has been a life shattering experience for me and a simple quick check for an issue on their end could have prevented it.  BAD BAD BAD Customer service policies to keep a customer on the phone for that length of time to repetitiously check the exact same thing repeatedly every few days.  Disgusted.  How dare that term "service" even be used if they can't provide "service" via support or otherwise.  I'm on the internet finally after 10 hours and the news reported the Verizon tower down. Not verizon... A police officer interviewed on a Detroit News station instead. God knows police have nothing better to do in Detroit than make news appearances for verizon.

    Simple solution. Get a real internet service and not a cell phone internet connection service it was never meant to be used as the primary internet service
    And how do you lose a home and job and be sued as you claim. What over 10 Gb of data? Give me a break
    In my city small claims is $5000.00
    And over that amount you can go to a superior court to have your issue settled.

    Good Luck, Elector

    5. Add the custom text strings to the appropriate  RequestCenter_<Number>.properties file in the following manner  (name-value pair) StringID=YourCustomTextString
    Example: The StringID for "Available Work" in ServiceManager is 699.
    If you wanted to change "Available Work" to "General Inbox", you  would add the following line to the RequestCenter_0.properties file
         699=General Inbox

    Your customized text should be displayed.

    I've recently come across this information and it was very helpful in changing some of the inline text.
    However, one place that seemed out of reach with this method was the three main buttons on an "Order" page.  Specifically the "Add & Review Order" button was confusing some of our users.
    Through the use of JavaScript we were able to modify the label of this button.  We placed JS in the footer.html file that changes the value of the butt
