Crazy bug - Flash is deleting random string characters

Hello! I'm working through Adobe's "Actionscript 3.0 for Adobe Flash CS4 Professional" book (though I'm using a trial version of CS5). I've run into a crazy error on the 2nd lessons that I believe is out of my control, and wanted to see if the more advanced users had seen it or had any advice.
Everything was going well, when suddenly this bug appeared out of nowhere. It appears that some random characters are getting removed from my strings. For example, when I write the code:
info_txt.text = "Welcome to the home page";
And then run the program, then info_txt just shows: "elmehehmepage", which is the same string minus a bunch of characters. When I try to write the code:
info_txt.text = "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789";
Then it comes out as "aeghilmnprs". This character removal happens for all strings. And it seems that it isn't random, it's just removing a bunch of letters and all numbers, the same ones every time.
Troubleshooting that didn't work:
I thought it might have been something that I did, so I removed ALL actionscript from the project except for the above lines, and got the same result
I tried opening the end-of-the-lesson completed example file that came with the book, and that had the same problem (now I KNOW it wasn't a problem with the actionscript)
Tried restarting Flash CS5, no luck
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? I can't figure out what made this occur suddenly, and I can't figure out how to undo it.

I find the solution for this Text Problem....
The Problem is Anti-alias property of the TextField.
by default it will be in "Anti-alies animation".
but for Display the text properly we need to chang it...
In Flash CS5 do the following chantge........
Select Text Field ----> Properties Pallete ----> Anti-alias ---> Use Device Fonts
or
Select Text Field ----> Properties Pallete ----> Anti-alias ---> Bitmap Text[no Anti-alias]
now it will work properly.....

The characters change depending on the website. I've tried disabling all extensions and plugins, reinstalling firefox and reinstalling java to no avail. The issue seems to be isolated to firefox, chrome is able to display the webpages without a problem. The problem occures following a malware in infection which would redirect goolgle searches in firefox. It was dealt with using Malwarebytes Anti-malware and by removing some entries from C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

I tried everything above but to no avail. Windows firewall seemed to be allowing Firefox through without it actually being in the exception list. However, I did remove Firefox but this time removing all profile data too. Reinstalling Firefox seemed to make the websites work. However I then restored my bookmarks, and suddenly the websites stopped functioning again, displaying the random string of characters. Could this be an issue with my bookmarks?

Bug in Flash 8 when using Strings Panel?

A problem with the strings panel in Flash 8 I have found is
that, when working with 6 languages, if you save and close down
your Flash file with the Strings panel hidden, and re-open the FLA
and then view the strings panel/view your text on the stage (or
open the xml file) that, in my cae, some EN strings have been
corrupted/mutated to other languages.
This is obviously a bug in Flash which corrupts one of the
XML files if the strings panel is closed. Why does it do this? Its
very annoying having to remember to open the strings panel whenever
I load that specific project, even if I am not going to use it. And
the panel takes up a lot of space as it is so can't leave it open
all the time for other projects.
Any ideas?

Howdy. I'm having a very similar problem. I'm working with 21
languages (including EN) on the strings panel in Flash 8. I've
found that my languages get corrupted -- EN strings get substituted
in for some, not all localized strings in the panel -- when I
publish or test the movie. I was publishing for Flash 7. When I
changed my publishing settings to Flash 8, the problem went away.
Have you gotten any answers to your problem?

How to delete first few characters from all the elements of an array of strings

I have a 2-dimensional array of strings length 104. I have to delete first 6 characters from all the elements of array and then change the strings to int. how to do it?? plz help

Array Of Random Alphabetic Characters?

Hi,
How would I populate an array with random alphabetic characters? Is there a java defined method for achieving this?
The approach I was going to take was to use Math.random to create numbers between 1 - 26 and use a double scripted array to link the number to a letter.
This is part of a program to test sorting efficiency.
Any help would be appreciated

You could generate a random number between 1 and 999999999999 (see RUTRANDU program). Then you could convert each position in the number to a corresponding character. 0 = A, 1 = B, etc.

Flash CS4 - How to embed characters into font symbol ?

Does anybody know how to decide what characters will be

In the meantime I have found the source of the problem!
Responsibility for
all problems bears option "export for ActionScript" checked
on in font
symbol. When this option is activated another character set
is embedded into
SWF file than in case when option says inactive.
I have created FLA file with one dynamic field and embedded
font symbol with
default name Font 1. Dynamic field has 6 characters added to
"Character
Embedding". "Font 1" family is assigned to this text field.
When SWF is
exported then those 6 characters are present in size report.
Only those
characters can be used in text field content obviously. Other
will be not
displayed, which is ok.
Now I turn on option "export for ActionScript" in font
symbol. The size
report shows that much more characters is exported but
WITHOUT any Polish
characters even if they were included into mentoned above 6
characters.
Since then it stopped to be possible using CE characters.
If you want I can create 2 FLA files differ from each other
state of that
option.

So I have to create a simple guessing game where the user guesses a 3 letter string that is randomly generated:

Deleting random songs

I know this has been a problem before, but I have been doing some searching and haven't been able to find a solution/reason.
I have a 160gb iPod that has been fine for about 2 years now, and now all of a sudden it is deleting random songs.
I have got some songs off of CDs and put them on (I manually manage) and they will transfer fine and will play on iTunes. Then certain songs off of certain albums will just mysteriously delete, sometimes after playing fine on the iPod. In one situation it would cut out half way through, and then when I tried to play it again it had altogether disappeared.
I have deleted the music and put it back on again, but the same thing happens.
Any help would be appreciated! Unsure why this is happening, it is not all of my music, just random songs.

Is your music just gone from the iTunes program library, or are the actual msuci files gone from your hard drive?
I suspect it is just gone from your library - that is the most common thing.

Nobody knows why the library file gets corrupted - it could be any number of things.
What I do is make regular backups of that ITL file. I put it a copy on a USB drive.
Just a question, do you have iTunes organize your music, in other words is the checkbox in iTunes > Preferences > General tab checked? ANd did you ever change the music location while it was checked? I am not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I've noticed that files on an old location of mine go missing more often, esp if they have odd characters in them, such as àáèéôú.

Well, first of all this is PHP code and not Java. And I am not sure but I don't think it's possible to call PHP functions in Java Code (the otehr way around it should be working though, at least with the Java Extension for PHP). So, if you are writing a Java programm, you will probably have to translate this code piece to Java.
Second. It will do what you want it to do - given you make a few modifications. You will have to change the line
$chars = array ( 'a','b','c','d','e','f');
to
$chars = array ( 'b','w');
as these are the characters you want. And you will have to call the function like this
echo RandomString(5);
if you want a string with five letters.
I don't know how much this will help you, since this code is PHP and written procedural and not object-orientented as you have to write Java in, and the translation to Java might not be that easy if you don't know much about Java.

Stupid Mac OS bug - Won't delete open folders in list view

This took some time to figure out and might help someone else... If you want to delete a folder while in list view, you must first close it before it will be deleted. In the example below, you can select folder "Test 1", Move to Trash and it will be deleted. Try the same thing with "Test 2" and nothing happens. No error messages but it won't be deleted. You must first close the folder (by clicking on the triangle), select the folder, Move to Trash, then it will be deleted. If you select a group of folders, all of the selected folders must be closed or none of them will be deleted. This bug only affects deleting folders while using list view (that I'm aware of). You can rename the folder, you can move the folder. You just can't delete the folder. Occurs with the Public share as well as any other shares you created. There is no problem deleting folders while in icon view or column view. 2TB My Cloud with firmware v04.01.04-422Mac OS 10.9.5WD disc mounted on desktop with smb://< IP Address >Logged on to WD disc with username & password. Account has full access.

Just tried it (rename, move and deletion on open folders) on my mac mini running Yosemite 10.10.4 and no problems here. Tried on both local drive and on the Cloud mapped by AFP and SMB. It could be an open file or something that is preventing the folder from being deleted, or if you are trying this on the cloud, it could be a different samba version since I'm still on firmware 3.04 here on my cloud. Try it locally as well as trying other protocols like connect to server AFP://WMyCloud/<yourcloudname> or smb://WDMyCloud/<yourcloudname>

2.02 Bug ?? Deleted vlans showing up on vNICs

Since 2.0.2 has come out I have experianced an issue at each install in which deleted vlans (from global database) are still showing up in the vNIC templates and therefore the vNICs of all hosts. When vlan is deleted, it is removed from vnic template as active however it still remains live until under the template, vnic interfaces tab, I manually delete the old non existing vlans. Anyone seen this ??

depending on which chars you want to use for the String, sometimes it is more handy to use a char[], something like

A pop up box flashes up at random points. Do not know what the box displays as it is too fast.
