Create a Web Service to connect a third party tool using ABAP.

Hi Guru's,
I wanted to create a web service to access a third party tool for fetching data from it. Can anyone guide me on how to do that and what are the basic needs that we should have to use Web services? To execute a web service, do we need a J2EE engine?
Thanks & Regards,
Veerabhadra Rao A.

Hi Rich,
Thanks for your immediate response.
Can you please explain me the technical point of view for fetching the data from a third party application using web service? Which method would be correct for this (i.e., BAPI/FM/FG/Message Interface)? What is the step by step process to fetch data? If I use a function module, how do I pass the data to the web service? Can you give me some more inputs to it?
Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
Veera.

  • ABAP source code to connect to third party systems using web service calls?

    Hi all,
can any one provide an example ABAP source code to connect to third party systems using web service calls? The base system is CRM.

Do you want to call a web service in a remote system, or do you want to provide a web service?
If you want to call a web service you should create a proxy object via SE80. Open your development package, right click on the tree entry and choose: Create -> Enterprise Service / Web Service -> Proxy Object and provide the needed information (including the WSDL description file). You may then use the proxy object to call the web service (if the connection and everything else works right).

  • Web service for inbound to third party solution

    Hi ,
I am working with a scenario of posting idocs from ECC into a B2B third party system using SOAP. I have created the service interface for the inbound to the third party and supplied them the WSDL the old fashioned way from the service interface export as file . But I would like to use the new features for PI 7.1.
Should I publish this in the SR and then give the WS name to the third party vendor?
I have gone through the literature in the forums, how would I assign the endpoint? Does the endpoint URL need to be provided by the third party system and then added in the SR?
Also the option of creating WSDL/Web service from the sender agreement, is that primarily geared towards sending SOAP applications and not receivers?   I am a tad confused here.
    Please advise.
    Teresa

    Hi,
Since you are using Web Service at the receiver side , the WSDL will be provided by the third party which you will import in the ESR as External Definition and then use this WSDL to do the mapping.
    Thanks,
    Loveena

  • Suggestion for Iridium I/O third party tool use in production environment. Is Good or bad to use?

    Hello Everyone,
we are planing to use Iridium I/O third party tool in one of our critical production environment to improve the performance.
but i want to know is it recommended  for such type of critical servers?.
if i use this tool find any performance improvement.

    Hi Baraiya,
Iridium I/O is certified by Microsoft. It can help to fix SQL Server performance instead of just pointing out performance problems . Benefits of using Iridium include the following aspects. Refer to:
    Iridium I/O for SQL Server.
    •Faster transactions
    •Faster batch jobs
    •Reduced blocking and deadlocking
    •Faster sorting in tempdb
•Speeds up queries from 3rd Party apps that can't be tuned
•Speeds up queries that are already "fully tuned"
•Speeds up the 95% of queries that the DBA never has time to tune
In addition, there will be no impact on the SQL databases when Iridium is removed. Personally, I recommend you install the Iridium I/O in a test environment, and check if it meets your requirement, then use it in the production server.
For more details , you can also review this blog:

  • Third Party Tool using OLE DB for OLAP

We have built a query in BEx 7.0 Query Designer and released for access via OLE DB for OLAP to Cog nos 8 Repor Designr.
I am trying to see the SQL/MDX code Cog nos is sending to BW to retrieve data.  Is there a way to see what BW gets from Cog nos report on the BW side?  Just to clarify, getting this info for the BW query executing without the 3rd party tool is not useful, because we dont have any issues running the BEx query, however 3pty tool gets back bad data.  Specifically when using a query with a BEx reusable structure.
I have further details on the design of the query, however I am trying not to create a very long and messy thread with unnecessary info.  Please ask if those details are necessary to understand the issue.

Here is a little more info on how the query is setup and why I think it is having a problem.....
    Query has Two Structures....
    <u>Rows:</u>
Reusable Structure (Without Key Figures) with 20 Rows (selections and formulas) defining each line of a Financial Statement.  Structure Name is "XYZ Statement"
    <u>Colums:</u>
Reusable Structure (With Key Figures) with 3 Columns (05/2007 Actuals, 05/2007 Plan, Variance).  Structure Name is "Comparison"
    <u>Free Characteristics:</u>
    GL Account
    Cost Center
    Other Char...
    <u>What Cognos 8 sees in the package:</u>
In Cognos, Structure "XYZ Statement" appears as a regular dimension, the same way Free Characteristics do.  The Structure "Comparison" appears as a Key Figure, aka Measure.
<u>How the Cognos Report is built in Report Studio:</u>
If the report is built NOT using the dimension "XYZ Statement", regardless of whatever Free Characteristics you use from the query as a datasource, you will not get any data, however it works fine when the "XYZ Statement" dimension is used.
    <u>What I think the problem is:</u>
I am thinking all Cognos reports build off this package MUST use the dimension "XYZ Statement" (aka Reusable Characteristic Structure in BW), other wise the query does not return any data.
<u>How I am trying to validate this theory:</u>
Query is the datasource for Cognos.  Executing RSRT only allows me to get details on the query execution via BW, however since the Cognos report is not returning correct data, I am trying to see what the Cognos Report is passing back to BW, to understand/validate what I think is the issue.  If this is just the way it works, then I want to validate and move on.

  • Open hub Destinations - Third-Party Tools As Destinations

Dear all, below is the SAP Help process flow steps. I am quiet clear of all the steps except the APIs. Where do we define these APIs? When it says "You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction" where do I use it? Is it in the 3rd party tool? or is it in SAP BI.
If it is in 3rd party tool, where in 3rd party tool. Do I need to write as code ? or would I have an option in the 3rd party tool?
If someone can help me with Microsoft connector using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages to SAP BI that would be helpful.
Where in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages can I use/put this APIs? Any help Plzz
If it is in SAP BI where in SAP BI do I have to use these APIs? Any help is highly appreciated
    Regards,
    KK
    Process Flow:
Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
           1.      You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
           2.      You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
           3.      You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
           4.      You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
           5.      When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool using API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
           6.      The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
           7.      The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS.

It's been a along time since i worked with open hub, but here goes:
The Third Party tool needs parameters or switches to work correctly. Think of the old DOS commanda the  "/a" "/b" suffix.
The APIs are simply a way to pass these parameters from the BW source to the Third Party target.
If your tool does not need them, don't worry about them.

  • RFC destination for your third-party tool

    Hello SAP Guru's,
I have recently established external db connect for an iseries database. Now developers wants to use the open hub destination to extract data to non-SAP systems. They are using API: RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY to connect a third-party tool to the BI system and use this third-party tool to distribute data to other non-SAP systems. To do so they need RFC destination for the third party tool. Could you tell me which RFC connection i have to use in SM59 ? I mean is it ABAP connection or TCP/IP connection or HTTP connection to external server?
I would highly appreciate any help on this.
    FYI:
I have already gone through below help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/8de3f4743b22a8e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

This will be of type TCP/IP.
You will need to create an RFC server application on the thirdparty system, and implement this function there. You will need to define that server application in your RFC destination definitions (host/Program).
You may need to read up RFC server help documentation; you can also browse the SAPGUI subfolders for RFC server sample applications and C code (if you have installed GUI in full, there should be such subfolders on your PC). You can also ask for help on 'application server' or 'abap' forums for this.

  • BPMon: Send BPMon alerts to third party tool through SNMP traps

    Hi All,
In our environment the preferred ticketing tool for raising tickets is a CA tool. I have managed to integrate system monitoring on Solution Manager with this third party tool using SNMP traps. Essentially when a system monitoring alert is raised in the alert inbox of solution manager, ticket gets raised in the CA tool.
I want the same integration with BPMon alerts. Whenever a BPMon alert is raised, I want to send an SNMP trap to the CA ticketing tool.
Can someone please guide me to the correct configuration guide or how its done.

  • How to create a Web Service in ABAP 4.7E

    Dear Experts,
We are on SAP R/3 4.7E. Can anybody tell me what are the Pre-requisites or steps to exposed an existing BAPI / RFC's as Web Services. Kindly explain me in detailed. or if any link is available.
    Regards,
    Umesh

    Hi Umesh,,
Follow these Steps:---  They may help you...
+Configuring Web Service Security in AS-ABAP
    Use
To configure Web service security in SAP NetWeaver usage type AS-ABAP, you have to do the following:
    · Configure the RFC destination for the Web service security services
    · Configure the logical port for the Web service security services
    Configuring the RFC Destination
Perform the following steps to configure the RFC destination for the Web service security services:
    1. Use transaction SM59 to create a new RFC destination of type HTTP Connections to Ext. Server.
    2. Specify connection type G and enter an arbitrary description.
    3. Specify the following technical settings:
¡ Target Host: Host name of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
¡ Service No.: Port number of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
¡ Path Prefix: Path prefix of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
Depending on the logon procedure or security settings you are going to specify in Step 4, you must set the path prefix as follows:
§ If the logon procedure is Basic Authentication and the SSL option is inactive, enter the path prefix /wssproc/plain?style=document.
§ If the logon procedure is Basic Authentication or Send SAP logon ticket, and the SSL option is active, enter the path prefix /wssproc/ssl?style=document.
§ If the logon procedure is SSL Client Certificate or Send SAP logon ticket, and the SSL option is active, enter the path prefix /wssproc/cert?style=document.
    4. Select the logon/security settings that correspond to the path prefix specified in Step3..
    Configuring the Logical Port
Perform the following steps to configure the logical port for the Web service security services:
    1. Use transaction LPCONFIG to configure the logical port by specifying the following attributes.
    Settings for the Logical Port:
    Attribute
    Value
    Proxy class
    CO_WSSEWSSPROCESSOR_VI_DOCUMEN
    Logical port
    BASIC
    Description
    Any description
    Default port
    Select the check box
    Runtime
    Select Web Service Infrastructure
    Call parameter: HTTP Destination
Enter the RFC destination you configured above
    2. Save and activate the logical port.+
    +Wizard-Based Basic Configuration
After full installation and before manual configuration, you can run the wizard-based basic configuration for SAP NetWeaver usage type PI. The configuration wizard saves you time and manual steps.
Only carry out the wizard-based configuration if your system has never been configured before. If you have modified the system already or if you have upgraded from an older release, do not use the configuration wizard. Instead, use the manual steps as required.
To carry out the wizard-based configuration steps required for your PI system, perform the following steps:
    1. Call the wizard-based configuration tool as described in Configuration Wizard.
    2. Select the scenario PI and the task PIPostInstallProcess.
    3. Choose Execute.
A list of the steps to be executed by the wizard is displayed.
    4. Choose Install.
The steps are executed one after the other (some steps may take some time).
The wizard-based configuration for usage type PI performs the following post-installation steps:
    ● Checking sap.com services
    ● Performing automatic customizing
    ● Assigning application roles to user groups
    ● Maintaining a product for the technical system
    ● Maintaining a business system for the Integration Server
    ● Creating RFC destinations in the ABAP environment
    ● Creating RFC destinations in the ABAP and Java environments
    ● Creating the HTTP destination pmistore
    ● Configuring the role of the Integration Server
    ● Registering queues used by the Integration Server
    ● Triggering the Self-Registration of the Adapter Engine
If you do not want to use the configuration wizard to perform the basic configuration steps required for usage type PI, you have to carry out these steps manually as outlined in the step descriptions you access by following the hyperlinks above.
    Afterwards, perform the following checks:
    Ensure that
    See
You have installed the XI add-on in each involved business system that is based on SAP Web Application Server (AS) 6.20.
Use SAP Web AS 6.20 kernel patch level 1253 if you want to generate new ABAP proxies in your business systems based on SAP Web AS 6.20.

  • Error when trying to create a web service from a wsdl file using jdeveloper

    Hello,
I'm using the latest jdeveloper and jdk 6 update 20 on solaris sparc 10.
When I'm trying to create a web service from a wsdl on the java EE 1.5 platform i get the following error:
    Validation failed:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.sun.tools.xjc.generator.annotation.spec.XmlElementRefWriter.required(boolean)
I've tried the endorsed mechanism with the latest jaxws-api.jar and jaxb-api.jar packages with no help.
It works fine when i use the java EE 1.4 platform....

    Thanks,
    Roy.

    Guys,
You are asking about an issue that was a pain in the nick for me few months ago. The problem is that you won't find mych help here as I figured out that Apex geeks here either did not do much webservices or ended up hating it as i do :) . This is an error that can be due many different reason, let me ask you this:
1- Does your the other system you are trying to call through webservices using HTTPS ?
2- If yes, did you create a valid oracle wallet for that https connection ?
3- Make sure you are using the correct URL ( am sure you do, just double check )
4- If using a proxy, then you have to define that in the web service reference creation page
provide more info and I hope I can help you with this,
    Sam
Please reward good answers by marking them correct or helpful!

  • In order to create a web service on SAP R/3 what are the prerequisites.

    Hi All
I want to create a web service(for a bapi) on SAP R/3  which will be used by a third party application. I dont know anything about creating a web service. My question is <b>in order to create a web service do we need to run Sap R/3 on netweaver ?</b>. I cannot see create web service on my BAPI screen.
    Thanks

    Hi Dohr
We are running 4.7 on WAS 6.20 .I heard ,if we have to activate webservices on WAS 6.20  it will expose all the RFCs and BAPIs as web services. Could you explain me what is the main difference between WAS6.20 and WAS6.40 in terms of creating web services and how do i activate web services.
    Thank you very much
