Create Alert on custom Metric in Grid

I'm relatively inexperienced with Grid Control so please forgive me if this is a repeat question (since my keyword search didn't result in anything useful).
I would like to set up a custom alert in Grid Control that will alert me when a specific clustered database experiences application waits on either a specified amount of sessions or higher and/or for a certain amount of time or longer. I cannot find any standard metrics that would fit the bill and I am baffled on how to add my own metrics. It would seem that this is trivial as I can see a historical graph of the application waits the database is experiencing under the performance tab, but I would like to get an alert so I don't have to stare at the graph all the time.
Hopefully this is easy and I'm just horrible with picking the proper search phrase. Sending me to a correct article/thread/note or stepping me through this would be great.
Thanks,
John

You can create User defined metrics.
Follow these steps:
Click on the targets -> database --> click the database what you want --> all metrics --> User-Defined Metrics --> create.
You enter the SQL what you want to execute for notifications and set the frequency and other steps.
Then, you need to include this metric in your notification metrics list. preferences --> rule --> select name + edit --> metrics --> add the new notification which you have created by selecting User defined metric.

  • Setting up event Alert on custom table

    I appologize for placing my question in probably the wrong forum, but I know you guys are the sharpest and I'm spent on this problem.
    Overview: I have a form that runs a report to print out some of the form's data. If the user wants to email that same data, after the print job is completed, the form updates a table with the output file name created by running the report. Here's where my problem comes in... I'm trying to create an event driven alert, but I get the below error when I go to save:
    Event Table : REPORT_HDRS
    ORACLE ID : APPS
    The listed ORACLE ID is missing the event table or does not have the correct privileges to Application Object Library or Oracle Alert objects.
    Please verify that the event table exists, or re-register the ORACLE ID with Application Object Library as necessary. Then re-enable (or disable)
    the event alert as desired.
    If the ORACLE ID is for a shared installation of an application, it may be normal for the event table to not be present.
    Any ideas as to what I'm missing would be greatly appreciated.

  • Technical Monitoring - Customer Metric stays grey

    Hi experts,
    I did create a customer metric (RFC PULL) which reads data from an RFC-FM.
    I did create a rfc-pull template and did assign this to an customer metric and alert.
    However, the metric always stays grey.
    If I change the measurement to "Counter Threshold" it changes to red and displays value "0".
    When I open the detailed metric i can see the correct values.
    If I test the rfc pull metric with report AC_ALRT_ANALYSIS_TOOLS I get all values correct.
    So the FM seems to be fine.
    But I don't know how to go on, how to analyze further.
    Kind regards

  • Creating Alert Reports in BIP

    What is the best way to create alert (conditional) reports in BIP? I am relatively new to BIP. My apologies if this is a stupid question but I haven't found a solution that doesn't feel like a hack.
    We've used BIP bursting with a condition built into the bursting query to limit the recipients. But I believe it requires at least one recipient which makes me think it isn't supposed to work that way. I've searched for a better solution without result.
    OBIEE 'Delivers' supports conditional iBots. I wan't to do the same type of thing with BIP. Am I missing something?
    I've also considered using the Java API to kick off a report when the condition is met. But if it isn't needed I would rather skip that option.
    We are using BIP 10.1.3.4.0.
    Thanks!

    There is an interesting old post:
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/oracle-bi-ee-101332-calling-bi-publisher-java-apis-from-ibots-storing-reports-in-file-system-using-delivers-and-bi-publisher-scheduler/
    Where you can use iBots to trigger a BIP Report. As you can see this requires you develop a custom code and BIP APIs.
    Thanks

  • Define an event alert on Custom application

    Hi ,

  • Userdefined metrics in grid control with OEM

    Hi,
    i created a user defined metric to check the size of perticular tablespace, as for that
    i wrote a query like select bytes/1024/1024 from dba_data_files where tablespace_name like 'tablespacename'
    my query is giving output :100mb
    i gave the threshold values like operator= '=', warning = '100', critical = 110. to tset my alert will fire or not
    iam not specified any response action for this,
    when iam testing it willcollect the value is 100mb, successful.
    but my alert is not firing.
    can anybody help me out regarding this issue

    You should be aware of the following:
    When you have tested your UDM and the output is what you expect, you will press [OK] and then the UDM is saved and activated.
    The alert should then be shown as soon as your UDM thresholds values are reached.
    The same page that gives you an overview of available UDM's will also show you an overview of each evaluation that has been done.
    So, you should see for each run of the UDM, what thershold values were measured and if or not the treshold value was hit.
    If you don't see this, then there is something wrong with you UDM definition.
    If you make screenshots of the UDM defintoin and the output on the overview page and send them to me [email protected] then I might be able to indicate was is causing this problem.
    Not a 100% fit, but you might want to take a look at ad document I created for the creation of User Defined Metric and a Notifcation Rule to be used: http://oemgc.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/creating-user-defined-metrics.pdf

  • How to create a transparent custom shape on a patterned background?

    Hello,
    I've searched the forums and google and cannot seem to find a tutorial for what it is I want to do. I have a document with guides (card template) and I want to create the same design on each grid. I want the grids to have a patterened background and I want a custom shape within it. But, I want the custom shape to be transparent, not to the background, but going through the background. Like a cookie cutter. I want the custom shape to make a hole through the patterend background, leaving nothing in its place. I'm working with CS6 and can't seem to find a tutorial on how to do this. When I create the shape and make it transparent, I can see the background which isn't what I want. I want to go through the background layer and I'm being prompted to rasterize the layer when I've tried doing so. Help is much appreciated!!!

    You've gone two hours without a reply, and I suspect that is because you are not specific enough with your description of what you want to achieve.  I'll try but I will be guessing some of it...
    Make the shape you need to produce the pattern, with transparency for the area you need to 'punch through' as you put it, the background.
    Define that shape as a pattern, and fill a layer with it using the Piant buck set to pattern.
    Now control click the pattern layer to load it as a selection > Invert the selection, and add a layer mask to the underlying layer.  This should show throw to the lower layer(s)
    If I am not there, try uploading the Shape image you want to use as a pattern, and a screen grab of your image showing the layers panel.

  • VCenter 5 Alerts with custom Annotations

    Hello,
    I want to be able to create alerts with the use of SCOM and VCenter's PowerCLI. Has anyone been able to achieve this?
    Essentially I want to tie into VCenter's console, and grab the custom annotations define by the user, and feed the custom annotations back into the SCOM generated alert.
    Suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi,
    You can build a pack that leverages powercli for discovery and monitoring.At least you could use powercli to check for vcenter alerts and bring them to scom.

  • Technical Monitoring - Customer Metric

    Hi experts,
    I would like to create one customer metric, which checks the duration of jobs.
    The metric should be build up like the metric of filesytems.
    So there should be a kind of sub-metric in which I can see the jobnames.
    And I would like to limit the jobs with this sub-metrics.
    Does someone know a procedure, how to create this?
    Maybe some template function module which can be used for this?

  • Create alert for subscription remainder

    Hi all,
    could somebody share about how to create subscription alert from ECC 6.0 (i'm using IS-Media Sales and Distribution), and display alert in CRM 2007 dashboard. For example if subscription is for 1 year for w eekly magazine and remaining weeks are 4 weeks, then something in CRM or ECC triggered to create alert in CRM 2007 so sales admin will see that subscriber will remain 4 weeks (editions) in the next delivery...
    thank you if someone could discuss this...
    thanks...
    Benyamin M.

    Hi GSS1,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create an alert for a user at a list.
    You can use the following PowerShell command to achieve it:
    $SPsite = Get-SPSite "http://SharePointSite.com"
    $SPweb=$SPsite.Rootweb
    $SPlist=$SPweb.lists["Shared documents"]
    $SPuser = $SPweb.EnsureUser('Domain\Salaudeen')
    $SPnewAlert = $SPuser.Alerts.Add()
    $SPnewAlert.Title = "My Custom Alert"
    $SPnewAlert.AlertType=[Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertType]::List
    $SPnewAlert.List = $SPlist
    $SPnewAlert.DeliveryChannels = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertDeliveryChannels]::Email
    $SPnewAlert.EventType = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPEventType]::Add
    $SPnewAlert.AlertFrequency = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertFrequency]::Immediate
    $SPnewAlert.Update()
    $SPweb.Dispose()
    $SPSite.Dispose()
    Based on your health analyzer rule, you can change EventType. You can also change the DeliveryChannels option to SMS  and AlertFrequenct option to Daily.
    More information, please refer to the links:
