  • Some in-place eDiscovery searches result in: The mailbox database is temporarily unavailable

    Hi,
we have a problem with the eDiscovery search. If I search for specific categories in eDiscovery (e.g. category:red ) the search is failing and I am getting:
The mailbox database is temporarily unavailable. Even in Powershell the search fails and I am getting mailboxdatabaseoffline Exception.
But if I search for from:[email protected] the search is working without any errors.
Does anyone has an idea how to solve that? Thanks.

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the following cmdlet to search and check the result.
    New-MailboxSearch -Name "xxx" -SearchQuery {category:"Red Category" -and from:contoso.com}

  • Exchange 365 and in-place eDiscovery

I created dozens of in-place eDiscovery search in powershell for the users who have left the company, but we need to retain their mailboxes for legal compliance reasons. The powershells looked like this:
    New-MailboxSearch -name "User1" -SourceMailboxes [email protected] -ExcludeDuplicateMessages $true -InPlaceHoldEnabled $true -ItemHoldPeriod 255
And when I go into the EAC> Compliance Mgmt> in-place eDiscovery, I can see all of them but their status says "Status: Search Not Started."  So I used the EAC to edit one, and check if I missed something, but everything from the PS script
is correct, and when I clicked Save, again without actually changing anything, the search did start at that point! I looked at a few other cmdlets, and I found the start-mailboxsearch. So I issued:
    start-MailboxSearch -Identity "User1"
But that comes back with "Unable to execute the task. Reason: TargetMailbox is required for copying messages returned by the search." So why am I able to use the EAC eDiscovery portion without having to specify TargetMailbox, but when I use Powershell
    I do have specify it?

Instead of an in-place hold, one workaround may be to use set-mailbox cmdlet with parameters LitigationHoldEnabled and LitigationHoldDuration .
This *may* have a  couple advantages:
    1. LitigationHold is the entire account and is binary (it's either on or off),
    2. A New-MailboxSearch on that mailbox can still be done if needed (and assuming the account is on hold, see above),
    3. A MailboxSearch for IPH/eDiscovery can be removed if no longer needed without affecting the account on hold.
Hope that helps and gives you a creative spark.

  • How to create a new place in iPhoto 11 without doing any harm?

Yes, I know how to create a new place for a photo -- theoretically:
    Select the photo.
Make sure the Info icon in the lower right portion of the iPhoto window is clicked and the too-tiny-for-any-but-the-youngest-eyes map is displaying.
Click in "Assign a Place..." and begin typing a place that iPhoto will search for.  It searches in both "your places" (i.e., those that you have already defined) as well as in Google Maps.
When you see a place in the search results list that you think might be close to the one you mean, select it.
A pin appears on the itsy-bitsy map.  Move it to the exact place you mean.  You can make controls appear on the map by moving the mouse over the bottom of the map.  The controls allow you to zoom in and out, and to change views (Terrain, Satellite, Hybrid).  When the pin is where you want it, click it. The current name of the location appears.  Modify it to the name you want, then click the check mark.
That's "all" there is to it ... except for a couple of "gotchas."
There's a difference between what happens when you select a place that you've defined and when you select a place that Google found in the search results.  If it's a place that you've defined, and you then move the pin to a new location and/or change its name, this will affect all photos assigned to the custom place.  In effect, you are modifying the place.
All places have a radius associated with them, thereby making them circles.  You can adjust the radius only in the Maintain My Places window.  In the itsy-bitsy map it doesn't even appear.  However, if the newly defined place overlaps existing ones, all the photos assigned to the overlapped places will be assigned to the new one.  Their pins will remain where they were.
Now, before anybody suggests sending feedback to Apple, let me emphasize that I have been sending Apple feedback on the wrong-headed implementation of Places since iPhoto 9.0.  New versions have come and gone (the current one is 9.1.2), but these "features" have remained.  So my purpose in opening this thread is to consolidate work arounds to these "features" in one place.  My work around:
Whenever I define a new place, I select only a single photo.  I try to name my places so that I can distinguish them from those that Google finds.  In order to avoid Gotcha 1 I select a place that Google finds and try to place the pin close enough to where I want it, but far enough from any other places that I've defined.  I give it a name that I can easily find it Manage My Place.
I immediately open Manage My Places and select the new place.  I first note the pins near it, then decrease its radius, move the pin to the desired location, note the nearby places, and give it its final name.
I then view Places and navigate to the new place to view the photos assigned to it.  If I'm lucky, there's only one.  Otherwise, I have to reassign the other photos to their correct places.
    Richard

So... in the hope it will not confuse folks more, let me be more specific of a procedure that works for me...
Procedure to create a new My Places location.
OK there is more you can do with a non-GPS Coord linked photo.
Click Info and then click Assign a Place in the lower right of screen. (if your photo has a location linked to it already the Assign a Place will NOT show up.)
Choose a location name near the actual location that Google Maps can find.
Click that location in the Google Maps list that appears and your photo will be temporarily assigned to that location.
Now  type over that  location name in order to make sure to give that location a unique name that will show up in your My Places list and click that name after you have typed it  to be sure it is accepted.
Now in iPhoto click Window/Manage My Places and go the that newly named location in the large My Places map. There's no easy search. You have to run down through the alphabetical list.
Drag the flag to the location you want this place to be and click Done.
The location name is now in your My Places list at the location you dragged the flag to!
It is important to note that only your unique named locations show up in your Places list, so if you want to modify the location coordinates you have to establish a unique name for it.
This is much more complicated that previous iPhoto versions!
    But Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
    It really works!!!!!!!

  • Creating a new view to search local database

    SA
i need to create a new view that searches my local db for certain clumns
and i need the filter to have drop down lists based on my instace variables objects
    any suggesstions please ?

You cannot implement that functionality using the Workspace views. I suggest having a screenflow that uses a JSP to display the information in the way you want. This screenflow can be exposed as a global activity.

  • Create PDF in Word, cannot search word document thereafter.

    Hi....
    v9.3.1 of Adobe Acrobat.
    System: Win2k8 SP2
    CPU: x86
When I convert a Word document to a .pdf file with the Adobe Acrobat Office add-in function "Create PDF" I can not search the Word document thereafter. In order to be able to search I will have to close and open the document again.
    - Updating is not an option.
    - This is verified to be an issue for several users
Does anyone have experience with this.
Looking forward to hear from you.

  • Creating items to place on a tray

I need to create items to place on a tray. So if I have a tea, coffee, glass of water, salt, sugar, etc.
What is the best way to program this?
I am thinking of having a tray class which has an array of TrayObject Types. This will set a limit to what can be placed on the tray.
Each item (tea, coffee, salt, water) will be encapsulated by the TrayObject interface. So it would be like the factory pattern I would use.
If I'm correct so far, what sort of methods could I put in the TrayObject interface. I thinking things like name(), isDrinkable(), isPourable(). Not sure about the methods though.
    Cheers for any help

This will set a limit to what can be placed on the tray.Like T.PD, I think there are other ways to do that better.
Each item (tea, coffee, salt, water) will be encapsulated by the TrayObject interface. So it would be like the factory pattern I would use.Doubt it. Don't overthink this. Just create a class, like TeaCup, that implements your TrayObject interface.
I'd also suggest that what you're putting on the Tray are objects, like a TeaCup, or a SaltCellar, not consumables like Tea or Salt.
If I'm correct so far, what sort of methods could I put in the TrayObject interface. I thinking things like name(), isDrinkable(), isPourable(). Not sure about the methods though.Following on from above, I'd go more for things like 'isHot()' or 'isBreakable()' (in addition to T.PD's suggestion about "footprint" info), rather than methods about what the objects contain.

  • In Place Discovery Search - "Search in Progress", not progressing?

    Hi,
When I click SAVE to run the In Place Discovery Search, it just seems to stay "in progress" and never complete.
I can run an estimate on the search and it seems to work fine.
    No errors to report?
    Suggestions?

    Hi,
From your description, if you select "Estimate the search result", it succeeds. But if you select "Copy the search results to the destination mailbox", it will be in progress. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
In your case, I recommend you click Refresh and check the result. In my environment, when I do the discovery search, it also displays "Search In progress" for a long time, but when I click Refresh, it displays the discovery result immediately.
    Hope it helps.

  • Manage My Places/Google Search in iPhoto has stopped working.  I have always had my Look Up Places Preference set to Never.  Any ideas?

I am running iPhoto 09 v8.1.2 and w/c 18th Nov Manage My Places/Google Search stopped working.  I have always Managed My Places with my Look Up Places Preference set to Never.  I have not updated any software in the past week.  Any ideas?

That's not my experience Larry, although I'm not an expert.  It was one of your earlier responses to someone else that made me check this preference out.  However, I've set it to automatically and google search in Manage My Places doesn't work and the "find on map" option on the photo information tab doesn't work.
What does works with it set to automatically is if I enter "Merida, Mexico" in the photo place it will list a number of towns called Merida and I can select the Mexican one.  If I enter "Calle 49, Merida, Mexico" it doesn't list anything but it does offer the "find on map" option.  If I select this it loops.
I've checked my software updates and nothing on my Mac has changed in the time between this working and ceasing to work.  I'm just trying to establish if anyone else has experienced difficulty with the google search under manage my places in iPhoto recently.

  • How to properly create and configure SharePoint 2013 Search service with PowerShell?

    Hello Forum,
I have installed SharePoint 2013 across three tier servers:
WFE Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here. Bsically this is just a Web server)
APP Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here + Central Admin + Service Apps).
    SQL Server
I now want to create and configure the Search service, obviously on the APP Server, But of course the search functionality should work correctly on the WFE server to.
I want to do this via a proper PowerShell script. I found Spence Harbar's script on: (http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2013mt.aspx), But it has three problems, and they are as follows:
    1) Spence Harbar himself literally stated on his article that this script is for: "deploying on a single server farm", But what if I have three tier servers? Could anyone please help me out in suggesting the required tweaks in the
    script?
    2) By default Search uses the SP_Farm account, So, How can I change the script to use other dedicated account for the search service e.g. SP_SearchAcc ?
    3) How can I modify the script to specify a default Search center?
    4) Apart from all the three aforementioned point - Is the script missing anything?
I would greatly appreciate your inputs - Thanks !

the only differences are where you place the components.  if you are doing a small server farm with a 1-1-1, most likely you just need to change the script so that you set the index and query processing component on the front end, but the others on
the app server.  just a 2 second update... just keep in mind this will work, but I am making several assumptions without any knowledge of your farm, users, capabilities.
generally, there would be more of a breakout on the topology than that, but im guessing for this farm that you wont have dedicated search servers.  also, a lot depends on # users (rps really), # items in index, size of VMs (RAM for query processing,
Disk for index, etc, etc), and making sure the topology works for your particular environment and needs.
if you want more detailed topology help, which aligns as closely as possible to "best practices" (not that those exist in SharePoint, go ahead and provide the total # users, average/peak RPS for search, current index size, content source types,
VM specs RAM, CPU, #/Size of drives, HA concerns/priority (obviously isn't, since only 1-1-1)
