Create database in sharedmod, but has to connect by special mod?

oracle817 for linux ;
create a instance with sharedmod, shared pool activated,
multiuse; when i built a net8 connection, i has to choose
specail mod rather than default or shared,
furthermore, normal java connection can not connect this
instance;
what is the reason, could some one tell me?
thanks in advance

The driver for what looks like you are using is Cloudscape 4 (btw, please move to Derby/Cloudscape 10) is COM.cloudscape.core.RmiJdbcDriver
You need to include cloudclient.jar in your CLASSPATH

  • Can't create database link when password has special character

    I'm trying to execute the following statement within sqlplus
    create database link alpha connect to scott identified by tiger! using 'db_alpha'
    note that the password for the account has an exclamation point in it. the command fails. I've tried placing the password in quotes (') and double-quotes ("). The double-quotes work, but then the link fails to function properly.
    We are required to have a special character in our passwords... so how do I get that special character into the password for the database link?
    Thanks in advance,
    Darren

    for some weird reason, I can't post the reply I want. every time I try, the forum hangs and doesn't save the message. give me a sec...
    I have put the password within double quotes... so I'm starting to think the problem is something else. I've been reading other posts regarding creating database links and I've obtained limited results. Here's what I've done, and the results I'm getting.
    (names changed to protect the innocent)
    My oracle database is on SYSA. I'm on SYSB. I set my TWO_TASK=SYSA and just use sqlplus to connect as user1.
    I want to run a command on user2's tables. Normally I would just grant read access to user1 on user2's tables and use a command like
    nert spaces to get this to save (weird forum bug here, I can't delete the text to the left)
    SQL> sel{color:black}{color}ect * fr{color:black}{color}om u{color:black}{color}s{color:black}{color}e{color:black}{color}r{color:black}{color}2{color:black}{color}.{color:black}{color}m{color:black}{color}y{color:black}{color}_{color:black}{color}t{color:black}{color}a{color:black}{color}b{color:black}{color}l{color:black}{color}e{color:black}{color};
    However, user2 is for test data and those tables get dropped and recreated often and it is cumbersome to try to remind everyone to recreate the grants. So I can't trust that user1 will have access to user2's tables. So my goal with the database link is to create a private (for user1 only) database link and access the tables that way, that way I bypass the grant issue. This works out better for me because we only change that password every 2 months. I just recreate the database link once every two months, rather than recreate grants multiple times every week. Well, that's the theory anyway.
    Back to creating the database link, I thought my issue was the special character in the password because if I remove the exclamation point everyting works (except that the password is invalid). Below is what it looks like when I do this...
    Attempt #1:
    SQL> create database link BLAH connect to user2 identified by "tiger" using 'BLAH';
    Database link created
    SQL> sel{color:black}{color}ect * fr{color:black}{color}om my{color:black}{color}_{color:black}{color}table{color:black}{color}@{color:black}{color}BLAH;
    sel{color:black}{color}ect * fr{color:black}{color}om my{color:black}{color}_{color:black}{color}ta{color:black}{color}ble{color:black}{color}@{color:black}{color}BLAH
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    ORA-02063: preceding line from BLAH
    So that looks like it's just a password issue. If I put in the correct password... the error changes to this...
    Attempt #2:
    SQL> create database link BLAH connect to user2 identified by "tiger!" using 'BLAH';
    Database link created
    SQL> sel{color:black}{color}ect {color:black}{color}* fr{color:black}{color}om my{color:black}{color}_{color:black}{color}table{color:black}{color}@BLAH;
    sel{color:black}{color}ect * fr{color:black}{color}om my{color:black}{color}_ta{color:black}{color}ble{color:black}{color}@BLAH
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-02085: database link BLAH.AAA.BB.CCC.DDD connects to
    DEVDB.AAA.BB.CCC.DDD
    To me, that doesn't make sense. If the link isn't working... how did it get the "invalid username/password" in Attempt #1?
    Anyway, in perusing other forum posts, one post said to put in the full text from the tnsnames.ora file instead of the alias. So I do a little cut/paste and try this...
    Attempt #3:
    SQL> create database link BLAH connect to user2 identified by "tiger!" using
    2 '(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server001.aaa.bb.ccc.ddd)(PORT = 9999)))
    3 (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = devdb)))';
    Database link created.
    SQL> sel{color:black}{color}ect {color:black}{color}* fro{color:black}{color}m my{color:black}{color}_{color:black}{color}tab{color:black}{color}le{color:black}{color}@BLAH;
    sel{color:black}{color}ect {color:black}{color}* fr{color:black}{color}om {color:black}{color}my_{color:black}{color}tab{color:black}{color}le@B{color:black}{color}LAH
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-02085: database link BLAH.AAA.BB.CCC.DDD connects to
    DEVDB.AAA.BB.CCC.DDD
    Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
    Darren

    You didn't ask a question in your post, but I assume you have one and it is "what do I do about this error?"
    Looks like you have a memory access problem in nuance-core.dll, specifically in
    nuance.core.util.NuanceConfig._jni_buildFromCommandLine(Native Method)
    You may need to examine thoroughly what this code does, specifically when it is running code within 'string-funcs.cpp'. Based on the filename the JVM associated with this error, I would guess it's something like a pointer or array index bug.

  • Production order created through procurement wizard but purchase order connected in SO

    SBO Localization: Korea
    SBO Version:SAP Business One 8.82 (8.82.073) PL: 10
    Production order created through procurement confirmation wizard on the base of sales order. In sales order "Procurement document" field production order number showing correct. But if click on document arrow then same number of purchase order opening where as we expect that production order should open. This is something like connection bug. This happens only if sales order approval workflow is active. In relationship map we can see production order is connected. See details in attached pic.
    I have also tested this case in Belgium localization the result is almost same. The difference is only if clicked on procurement document number arrow (from sales order document) then different number of purchase order opens.
    Is this known issue? Could someone please provide me the solution?

    Hi,
    It is application error. Please check SAP note:

  • Creating database (confused!)

    hi,
    it says that when you're creating a database, you have to log into the database as sysdba, and then do create database...but how can you log in to the database when it hasn't even yet been created? I mean, how can you connect as sysdba, because the database does not even yet exist and therefore neither should this privilege?
    thanks.

    Once you are in the nomount stage,you need to issue the command
    connect / as sysdba
    Here the "/" implicitly connects you as Sys schema..
    There's nothing implicit about this at all. The command 'connect / as sysdba' means "please connect me to an instance, authenticating me using OS authentication methods, and I want to claim the SYSDBA system privilege whilst doing so".
    Exactly the same effect can be achieved by issuing the command "connect sys/fred as sysdba". This simply means "connect me to an instance, authenticating me with an Oracle password file, and I want to claim the SYSDBA system privilege whilst doing so".
    In neither case is the connection to the SYS schema "implicit", since the request for SYSDBA privileges is explicit in both -and the only "schema" that can ever acquire SYSDBA privileges is SYS's.
    The only difference between the two forms of the connection command, in fact, is whether to use OS or password file authentication.
    This fact makes it all the more unfortunate that you would go on to write, "You will log in to your instance using this command and than will issue ,create database command.Oracle maintains the Sys user's password in a password file."
    If, as you say, Oracle is maintaining something in a password file, then the connection command you actually gave (which very deliberately didn't mention a password!) shouldn't be used (the idea of a password file is that you should supply the password when connecting!). If you're going to use the password-less form of the connection string, then the one thing you can say with some confidence is that there is NOT a password file (or, at least, that its existence is entirely optional).
    Your answer also completely misses the point that I might well connect as follows: connect hjr/dizwell as sysdba. That's password file authentication, requesting the SYSDBA system privilege. I will end up connected using hjr's credentials -but a 'show user' in SQL*Plus will STILL show me connected as SYS.
    A more meaningful answer to the original question (of "how can you log in to the database when it hasn't even yet been created") is very simple:
    1. No-one ever logs onto a database. Ever.
    2. People only ever connect to an instance.
    3. Usually, the database tables (USER$, for example) are used to check on user names and passwords and privileges to work out whether you are allowed to connect to an instance or not. That's called 'data dictionary authentication' -and obviously can only happen once the database exists, those tables exist and can be read and accessed properly ...post-database-creation, in other words, and post-database-opening.
    4. A 'privileged user' is one who is allowed to perform the five privileged actions (which are: startup, shutdown, backup, recover and create)
    5. Privileged users are never authenticated by the data dictionary, at least partly because of the Catch22 situation you describe: how can we use a data dictionary table to authenticate whether you are allowed to create (or startup!) the very thing needed to store that table in the first place
    6. Privileged users are therefore always only ever authenticated either by the OS (membership by an ordinary user of the OS of an appropriate OS group -such as dba on Unix or ORA_DBA on Windows); or by a password file
    7. OS group membership or password files are external to the database -that is, their existence has nothing to do with whether the database exists or has been opened for business.
    8. Therefore, privileged users can be authenticated whether a database exists or has been opened for business or not.
    9. There is actually only ever one privileged user: SYS. Therefore, you can connect as SYS regardless of whether a database exists or has been opened for business or not.
    And how you connect as SYS (which of the two authentication methods you want to use, in other words -and which is the only thing your answer concerned itself with) is completely and utterly irrelevant to all of that.

    You can try to dump out the creation scripts and run them manually see if you can get through.

  • Don't Laugh!  Has anyone connected a 7.3.4 client to a 9iR2 64 bit database

    I know everyone is probably scratching their heads, but has anyone every connected to a 9iR2 64 bit database using a V7 OCI drivers to connect to the database? The V7 OCI works fine with 8.1.7.4.

    Can you detail it a little bit more?
    You do have a 8174 installation and are you using
    just the listener? Is it that all?
    Have I missed something?
    Sort of. The 9207 database is running on a HP-UX cluster that is used to host many databases, some of which are 8174, some of which are 9207. So, luckily, 8174 is already installed so it was as simple as creating a new listener in this home for the 9207 database.
    Crude but effective.
