Create Document Sets from template

Our current functionality: a document library is saved as a template. When a user creates a new document library they created it from that template. This ensures that all new document libraries consist of a pre-defined set of documents
as a starting point.
I'm looking into a Document Set solution. My question is: Is it possible to create a Document Set based on either an existing document set or an existing document library? Basically, we have an initial set of documents that we would like
to be included in all the new Document Sets created. If they cannot be added at the time of creation, what would a power user need to do so that after an empty document set is created they would add a pre-defined set of documents from some other location
in Sharepoint. Basically, what I'm asking, is there something for Document Sets that is equivalent to:
- exporting a document library as a template (with content)
- creating a new document library based on that template
except that I want to find out if something like this is possible for Document Sets

What's a data set?
For document sets you can create a custom content type and specify the default documents, metadata and so on. You can then use the Content Hub tooling to push that down to various subscriber site collections.

Create Document Set with custom Create Only permission set

Here is the situation. We have a requirement where my customer wants to create document sets, however, document set/document level permissions are required.
Setup: We created a new permission level called "Create Only". We then give the user Read and Create only permissions. This allows the user to theoretically create the item. We then run a Workflow on create that Replaces the permissions so that
you are only allowed to view the ones you created along with other security groups based on their choices in the metadata fields.
This setup works PERFECTLY when using a List or Form Library.
However, for the life of me I cannot get it to work for Document Sets. If I have the same setup, I get an Access Denied message. However, it still creates the document set.
What is weird, I've been playing around with custom permission levels and it seems as though the user has to have EDIT permissions at a minimum in order to create the document set. This will not work for me since I dynamically assign permissions to each
document set based on what they select.
As a side note, the only tool I have at my disposal is SharePoint Designer 2010.
Does anyone know if there is an actual requirement to have EDIT permissions when creating a Document Set? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Alternatively, is there a way to setup permissions on a library for all NT Authenticated users so that we can give them the necessary permissions to create the Document Set, but still prevent them from see the other items and then the Workflow would set
the permissions accordingly?
I believe the more granular the permissions it uses those permissions instead so would this work? I have not tested this theory yet.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know if there is an actual requirement to have EDIT permissions when creating a Document Set and is there a way to setup permissions on a library for all NT Authenticated users and prevent
them from seeing items created by others.
For the first question, per my knowledge, if a user is given the Add Items permission, he/she can create a document set in SharePoint.
However, there is an error “access denied” after the document set is created. It is due to the user has no permission to access the page which SharePoint will redirect the user to after finishing creating the document set.
If the user is also given Edit Items permission, there will be no error when he/she create a document set.
For the second question, I recommend to follow the link below to
customize item permissions for each document submitted to a document library and remember to give the
NT Authenticated users contribute permission.

Error in creating the Domain from template in WLS 10.3.2

Hi All,
I am using WLS 10.3.2 and I need to create a domain from the template of my existing domain.
I followed these steps while creating my existing domain:
I chose these 2 while creating my existing domain
** WebLogic Portal - 10.3.2.0*
** Weblogic Portal Collaboration Repository - 10.3.2.0 [wlportal_10.3]*
after Test JDBC Data Sources step where all my tests fail and in the next step
Run Database Scripts: here I am running the Scripts by clicking on Run Scripts button and I get the message Database Load Successful!
everything goes fine and my domain works fine.
Now I am trying to create the domain template based on this domain which I created.
After this step I am trying to create a new domain from the newly created template. I follow the steps given and at the end
Creating Domain: Here it shows the progress and once it reaches 100% it displays the info in a popup window saying CFGFWK-60600: Before booting this domain, it is necessary to run the SQL file located at C:\bea\user_projects\domains\base_domain\security\SQLAuthenticator.sql in order to initialize a domain security admin user in the database.
I assume this message is because while creating the domain from template I did not get the step Run Database Scripts and that is why I get that msg at the end.
So I executed the create_db.cmd file wich is in domain home now I get the msg

Create document set by workflow based on external list

Hello,
I'm wondering if the following is possible:
I have a external list with all my projects.
Next to that i have an document library where i place all the documents about the projects in document sets. Is it possible to automatically create the document sets based on the external list?
So when a new record is created in the database (External list) it automatically creates a document set. (The document sets have an external data column which refers to the projects external data)
I was thinking of an workflow, but i don't know how to accomplish this. I'm just a beginner with SharePoint.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create a document set for an external list in SharePoint 2013.

Create bid invit. from template in two different ways has different consequ

Hi everybody
"Create bid invit. from template in two different ways has different consequuences"
When I create a bid invitation from a previous template, from the template search results (Icon_create SAPLBBP_BID_INV 1010) my bid is published but then stay in the model search and the status is wating for approval. But no workflow started in BBP_PD.
If I use the same template for creating a new bid from the detail using the create bid invitation button, the bid invitation is created correctly.
I have configured the two events for the BUS2200 object and both of them have an initial condition.
It seems that the two actions trigger different events or something like that
Does anybody why it is occurring this and how I could link the workflow without approval for this case.

I am trying to work out if it's possible to create Document Sets in a list using the Javascript COM.

BUG: Advanced Actions duplicated when creating NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.

Need: CREATE NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.
Problem: NEW PROJECT (.cptx) duplicates the Advanced Actions originally configured within TEMPLATE FILE (.cpt.).
For example: Template file (.cptl) advanced action "_initializeModule" gets duplicated as "_initializeModule1", "_initializeModule2", "_initializeModule3" within NEW PROJECT. FYI, the original "_initializeModule" advanced action still appears.
MAJOR BUG, what the heck is going on?!?!!! Planning to deploy this template file to use for multiple courses with multiple users, this WILL cause epic confusion across the board.

Similar problem, think they are working on it as well: when dragging a shared action from an external library to a slide or object event, and that action is using a parameter that was already created for another shared action, there will be a new parameter created which really screws up the shared action contrary to this problem. Can't create Data Set from BI analysis

Hi,
I use BIP 11g and I want to create new Data Set based on Oracle BI Analysis. But when I choose my analysis (query) in BI catalog and click Ok button it show me Processing.. and then... nothing happends (Browser still show me window Create data set - Oracle BI Analysis )
So I can't create Data Set from BI analysis.
Is there anybody who made this well?
Any one has idead on how to resolve this?

Create document item from list, then no lookups

SharePoint 2013: I have a content type set up in a document library with a default document template attached (in this case an excel workbook file).
In SPD 2013 (using a 2010 workflow), I can use the "Create Item in List" function in SPD from an adjacent list on the same site collection to create a record in the document library, and set the content type such that when the workflow is done there
is indeed a new document waiting for me in the doc library, utilizing the expected template file.
The issue:
The output of the "Create Item in List" function is the ID of the item created. Using the Create variable, I believe I should be able to immediately lookup attributes of the newly created Document item, such as the last modified date and URLs.
I'm doing the lookups within the output of a Log (to workflow history) function. However, certain fields always come back blank. Performing the same lookup, using a known Document item ID (created in another w/f session) is successful. It
would be nice to email out a URL of the file I just created from the same workflow.
I've tried having the W/F wait up to 5 minutes, but it appears that certain attributes cannot ever be retrieved in the same workflow, while others can indeed be retrieved (GUID of the new doc is successful, for instance).
I've read some online debate related to this, but I can't find anyone having the exact same issue as me, nor explain why it's happening. It seems like it should be so straightforward. Any ideas? Thanks!

According to your description, my understanding is that you create a document library item using “Create item in list ” action and when you log some certain attributes of the item to workflow history list, then
it has no value.
I try to reproduce this issue with your steps and it works as expected in my environment.
For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you do as the followings:
1. Check if the certain new created item field has value in the list which always return blank.
2. I suggest you can create a new simple workflow to log the field data for new created item to workflow history list to test if it works.
3. If the issue still exists, I suggest you can track the workflow using Fiddler. You can see detailed web request for the workflow, it will be easier to find the cause of this issue.

Create new page from template

I created a page, and saved it as a template. I want to
create a new page from the template (creating more pages for the
same website). When I select file > new > page from template,
the list contains <no sites>.
How do I get the page and / or template I already created to
be in a "site" so it shows up on the list. Couldn't find this in
the help file.

So where is the correct location?
I created the folder for this site when I first created the
html page. This is the folder I mentioned. This site folder was
created inside the Documents folder, I believe by default.
As I mentioned, on the first try, I just let it save the
template to this same site folder, which is what it suggested by
default, and it has been there ever since.
I only created my own "templates" folder as an experiment
after your first suggestion. I have now renamed it "Templates"
(upper case T) and the template is still not found with File >
New> Page from Template.
Sorry I am not sure if I understand exactly what you mean by
"A folder in the root of the "local site folder"". Is this the same
as or different from the site folder I created and saved the html,
css, and image files to? (which is in Documents) If different,
where can I find it?
I searched my system for ALL folders named Templates, and
found none that I believe could be associated with DW. Is this in
appdata or hidden location?

Error Creating Document Set in a Custom Sandboxed Action

I created a custom workflow sandboxed action, and one of the lines is required to create a new document set in a document library.
The code works when i run it in a console application. The document set is created successfully.
However, it doesn't in the workflow. Sadly since i am lost about how on earth it is to debug my custom action, all i get is error and nothing specifically.
i have been on this for over 10 hours now.

The DocumentSet class is not available in Sandbox.
You have to create a Farm solution.
If the class is available in sandbox class, you will find the description below in SDK.

Can not create new page from template

I have been working on a new site for the last couple of
weeks and have created several pages using a basic template.
All of the child pages of this template still update when
changes are made to it, however I can no long create new children
from this template.
Any ideas as to what the problem might be.

my guess is that you are opening the .dwt template file and
doing a "Save
As". That page is not a "child" page of the template.
