Create frameset based on an existing template

I'm using DW CS4. I'm using a template with header, sidebar and main content divs for most of my pages. But I want one page to be a frameset with the same header and sidebar but the main content is a frame that changes based on selections from the sidebar. I want it based on my existing template so when I update the header in the template, my frameset page gets updated. I can't just save the header in the library because it contains a spry menu. Any suggestions?

I suggest to create a css based layout on your existing template. Here is a tutorial on the pros and cons of using frames.
Make a common page with a header, sidebar and content and copy that to use in the rest. You can define background images for each so if you want to update your banner, you can do that in your css

Creating multi-page document with multiple templates

Hi,
I am new to Pages and am attempting to create a photo book that I can export as a PDF and have printed through an online service. I have successfully created multiple templates in Pages that I want to use in my book, but cannot figure out how to create a new page based on an existing template. If I select "New" or "New from Template Chooser" I end up with a brand new document, not a new page in my existing document. If I select Insert --> Pages, I am only given the choice to insert a Text or a Blank page. How do I insert a new page based on a template? Or, how do I apply a template to a blank page?

Okay, I have figured out a way to accomplish my goal. I have my master Pages document that I am adding pages to by:
1. File --> "New from Template Chooser"
2. Selecting my template
3. A new document is opened
4. I add my photo and custom text
5. Copy the new page from the Pages area in the left nav
6. Paste the new page back into my master document
This works, although is a bit cumbersome. Would much prefer to be able to simply add a page in my master based on an existing template, but I still don't see how to do that...

Unable to create a subsite based on the generic template - save site as a template

hi,
am using a save site as a template functionality to create a sub site. when i select the custom template, and click on ok button,am getting server error in appln.
in the site template i have
1) 2 document libraries with permissions broken[ stop inheritance]
2) 4 Groups created L1, L2,L3,L4
am stuck with , how to proceed/ create a subsite based on the template site
note i have uploaded the wsp file in the new site collection and activated it . ma getting the custom site template name in the tab.
would like to get clarification about the custom permissions:
if i break the permissions on the document libraries, will this sec.permissions be intact, [ not changed] as the orginal ? i mean if i broke the permissions, in the newly created subsite also, will the permissions be broken? i need this broken functionality
as per my requirement.

we cant perform stop inherit the permissions for the doc lib and create a sub site based on this site template.
also if i stop inheriting from site permissions also.

Also, I tried removing SP.SOD.executeFunc
from my code, but no success :(

Creating new template using existing template

Is anyone aware of a way to create a new project template using an existing template? I am testing a few scenarios and want to quickly be able to create a template without setting one up from scratch.
I tried a few ways but could not find a way to do this - you can only create a project using a template, not another template.

Invoice created via SUS having error -The template item 1 does not exists

Hi All,
We are in SRM6.0 and in our PRD system, we have few invoices created through SUS showing error "The template item 1 does not exist.
These invoices went into "To be corrected" status and when I hit check it gives me above error message. The message itself don't make much sense to me. Please note we can create new invoice in SRM manually and everything works fine.

We have analysed the issue and found we are getting this error because these invoices are missing with "BE_LOG_SYSTEM" field in table BBP_PDBEI and "BE_REFOBJ_TYPE" field is showing "BUS2201 instead of "BUS2012".
Any feedback why we have these difference as compare to good invoices (created directly in SRM).

Create form based on existing row : advice from specialists

hello,
i've coded a "create form" based on a row selected by the user.
this create form displays the same information as the selected row (except for the primary key which is a sequence trigger-calculated) the user can then modify any field and then commit the creation. It's quicker for tables with many columns since the user will override only several fields instead of setting every field one by one.
I've done it this way :
1) creation of a createCustomMethod() in my ViewObject implementation class and published it in the client interface.
2) drag and drop the method as a command button on the selection list page
3) set the action of the command button to the navigation case value to open the create form when the button is clicked.
the code of the createCustomMethod() is the following

i've tried implementing the method in the application module (i had to call the findViewObject() now) but the "Row currentRow = vo.getCurrentRow();" instruction throws a NPE.

Replacing existing template - need to add editable regions

I've created a new design for my website and created a new template that uses the same editable regions so it will correctly update all of the existing pages based on the old template. How can I add new editable regions to the template? I was told that the editable regions have to matach exactly. Is there a way around this where I can add new ones?

It all depends on how you set-up your original template. Can we see a link to your template or the code from it?

Error when creating pivot table in BI publisher template

When I try to create a chart or pivot in BI publisher it keeps throwing error
'Please load Datasource first'
It allows me to create table so I am not sure why is complaing when creating a pivot.

1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. From the Oracle BI Publisher menu, select Log On.
3. Enter your BI Publisher credentials and the URL for the BI Publisher server. (Contact your system administrator if you do not know the URL.)
4. The Open Template dialog presents the same folder structure as your BI Publisher Reports home page. Select the report for which you want to build a template.
5. Select Open Report to load the data to the Template Builder; or double-click <New> in the Layout Templates pane.
Note that any existing templates will be listed in the Layout Templates pane.
select <New> in Layout template section than select Open layout tempate to get automatically load your data into template..

A method to create completely customized photo book page templates from scratch in Lightroom 5

I was able to successfully create completely customized Lightroom 5 page templates (including altering the number of, positions, and sizes of pictures) by making edits to the templatePages.lua file(s) in the Lightroom directory tree. I have never heard of the LUA file format before, but it is ASCII and looks somewhat like XML, so it was fairly easy to decipher. Here is a high-level description of how I did it. This applies to Lightroom 5 on Windows 7. If this doesn't make any sense to you, then don't try it - you're likely in over your head. Although my description is brief and lacking in detail, it should enable someone who is capable of handling this to figure it out with a little of careful trial and error. Do this at your own risk - if you screw-up your installation, catalog, or computer, it's your own fault. It all worked great for me.
First, open the "<lightroom 5 install directory>\Templates\Layout Templates" folder. Then navigate to the template set that contains the template you would like to use as a starting point for the new template. For example, "12x12-blurb\clean12x12". Make a back-up copy of the templatePages.lua file in case you mess something up and want to revert.
There will be a bunch of .jpg files in this directory that each contain a preview image of the layout that carries the same name as the .jpg file. Find the one that you would like to use as a starting point. Take note of the name of the file, which is probably something similar to "page_26_preview.jpg". Duplicate the file and rename it to something unique, such as "dummy_preview.jpg". It's just temporary, so it doesn't matter what name you pick, provided it is a legal file name with no spaces.
Next, open the templatePages.lua file in a text editor. I suggest using one that can automatically recognize and format ULA (such as Notepad++, which is open source and free to use). Then search the file for the unique portion of the file name you took note of earlier, such as "page_26". It will point you to a section in the LUA file that describes that particular template. Carefully copy that entire section, including a balanced number of brackets (starting with the two brackets and commas before "children" and ending with the one bracket and comma after the "title" line. Paste the copied text into the end of the file on a new line immediately following the bracket and comma after the "title" field for the last page template section (right near the end of the file). Change the "previewName" field to the name of the preview file copy that you created ("dummy_preview.jpg" for me) and the "name" field to the name of the new template you're creating ("dummy" for me, since it is just temporary). Next change at least one of the hex characters in the "pageID" field such that the new template will have a unique page identifier.
Now you can make edits to the photo and text fields included in the new section, using other templates in the template file as examples. "x" and "y" fields are coordinates (in pixels) for the bottom-left corner of the picture or text field, "height" and "width" are the width of the field in pixels. The fields should be mostly self-explanatory, but make sure that the "photoindex" fields are filled-in starting from 1 to N, where N is the number of pictures in the template, with no duplicates or gaps. They do not need to be in order. Treat the "textIndex" fields similarly for text fields. If you want to add an additional picture or text field, simply copy the section describing a picture or text field from another template and paste it, carefully, into the new template that you are creating.
Once you are done, save the file (you may get interference from Windows UAC, in which case save the file elsewhere and the move it back to the correct directory). Then open Lightroom. Create a new photobook, and choose the new template for one of the pages, remembering that the preview image will look like the JPG that you copied. Voila! If you didn't screw anything up, you should see a page based on your new template. Then right-click the page and select "Save as custom page", which will cause a fresh preview file to be created for your new template and your template to be copied to the "custom pages" section of the template menu. The new section you added to the "templatePages.lua" and the "dummy" preview file can now be deleted, since they are no longer needed. I save them so that I may simply overwrite them the next time I need to create a customized template.

I haven't looked into the files, so this is just a guess based on how some graphic applications work. It's common to think of rotating a shape as pivoting around a center point, but It's possible that the file sets a value for the rotation point not at the center. In some graphics applications, you can set a shape's pivot at any corner or in the middle of any side, of the rectangle that contains the whole shape.
So, your value may be rotating the shape around a pivot that moves the shape into some area that upsets the behavior of other shapes. Just a thought.

Peter's point is a good one. I would also assume that the "angle" property allows you to rotate an image, but I haven't tried it myself. One thing to investigate - are there any page templates included in LR that have image placeholders that are at an angle (I don't recall any, off-hand)? If so, looking at the associated .lua file could provide insight into how an angled image placeholder should be described.

Creating a copy of an existing JTable that does not have source code.

I am working on a java swing based application. We used a third party API for JTable for showing some data in a table format and also for printing function. As of now print button is printing the whole table being shown in the application. Our new requirement of printing is �Users don�t want to print all the columns being shown in the application and they wanted to have print of columns whatever they would like to see�.
The above requirement can be fulfilled if I can have a copy of the existing table. Unfortunately we don�t have the source code of the table being shown in the application as we are using 3rd party libraries. Had the source code been there I could have implemented cloneable interface or proto type pattern.
Can some body help me how can I create a copy of the existing table? Basically the high level approach I thought of is create a new object of the table class and copy the properties/attributes of the existing table to the new table object. But I don�t know what attributes should be copied so that I can have the copy of the original table and how to construct (code) this new table.
I would be very grateful if some one could help me with this.

I understood your suggestion. But it would be very difficult to migrate as it requires lot of changes across different tabs of the existing application. This application was developed around 6 years ago. And this change would require lot of regression testing too.

Create Directories based on File Names

I have a Folder with all of my digital photos. All of the photos are named using a %Y%m%d_%H%M%S.jpg format. I am trying to write a script that would go through, and create folders based on the %Y%m%d portion of the name. Then move the photos into the appropriate folders. Then, create folders named according to %Y%m of the newly created folders, and move the %Y%m%d folders into the %Y%m folders. So that my folders would be organized as /%Y%m/%Y%m%d/%Y%m%d_%H%M%S.jpg or 200809/20080905/20080905_083026 - for a photo taken today.
Any tips for getting started on this? As always, thanks in advance.

Can we create external table from an existing database table ?

As i understand, its possible to create a new table based on an existing table without copying any values from it, using the following command;
CREATE TABLE newtable AS
(SELECT * FROM oldtable WHERE 1=2);
I would like to know whether we can do a similar thing with external tables. That is to create an external table with the same columns as of an existing table.

Creating new version by copying existing version without originals

Hi Folks ,
Is there any way we can control copying Original files & Classifications when we create a new version of document info record using existing template .
I have a situation that I need to copy all the information ( Like description , Object links etcc) of a existing document info record except the Classifications & Original files. This is required since the newer version of the document should have newer version of Original file attached on it.
Any input will be highly appreciable & rewarded.

you can control this in the document type customizing in transaction DC10.
1. Choose the relevant document type
2. Go to folder "Define object links"
    Here you can see all the maintained objects which you can link to this
    document type.
3. Select the relevant object
4. double click this object to display the details
5. By "When new version" you can choose between:
    - Selection by user
    - Ignore link or
    - Copy link automatically
This will control what happens with existing object links when you create a new version.
