Create page based on Seeded Table

I have got a question...Assume i have to create a custom page which inserts data into a seeded table
eg per_all_people_f.If i simply create a custom EO,VO,AM my question is oracle might have written all
row level validations in EO, some business validations in AM and all. My question is if i created custom
EO,AM then i will be bypassng all the standard validations by oracle.Then how should i proceed? Do i need
to extend the EO,AM while creating my custom page?? If that is the case then assume the AM is Root AM, then
i should not be extend it.So what should be the correct way of doing it.
Also if anyone has got any idea how date tracking is implemented in OAF for HRMS that would be really
great.

Hi Raj ,
If you are creating new BC4J components( EO , VO, AM) using standard table and deploy it independently
it will not have any impact to existing functionality .
If you want to enhance / change business logic then you can for an CO or VO extension .
Date tracking in HRMS is to retrieve the most recent record from database .

while creating fieldcat we usually many give the fields "fieldname" and "tabname".
is there a way to get the fieldname from the main table ?

I have i_tab as the output table. It has 3 fields "a", "b" and "c"
Now when i created fieldcat manually ( in case i cannot use fieldcat_merge FM) , i have to append 3 throws in fieldcat table.
These rows would have "a", "b" and "c".
Now i want to know if there is a way in which i can find "a" "b" and "c" fieldnames from the createdd internal tables.
i can then append the same to fieldcat.

I created a FORM routine for this 4 or 5 years ago and made a couple of refinements. Meanwhile it has prooved as very useful.
The disadvantag is that it creates the oldfashioned field catalog for the function calls. But I already used it for OO fieldcatalog of LVC type - there is a function module for this but I do not have the name here.
You need the two forms (second called in first) to build the field catalog from any internal table that can be used for ALV display.

Hi Mostafa,
You can retrieve the data from your sql query in a backing bean and pass it on to Graph using the setTabularData method.

Can't create MDFORM based on detail table with upload field

Has anyone suceeded in creating a Master Detail Form based on a detail form which has an upload field (blob column)?
I created a table (workingorders) and I want to attach documents to these orders so I created a table (attachments) which holds the attached documents and created a FK between workingorders and attachments. When I create a MD-form based on these tables I get the error:
Exception from wwv_generate_component.build_procedure (WWV-01821)
Error creating module: ORA-01403: no data found (WWV-16042)
When I use a detail table without the BLOB column I don't get this error and everything works just fine.
any ideas?

Yes, there was a problem when there was a blob field only in the detail table. This has been addressed in patch 3.0.9.8.4 (to be released shortly).
Till then you will have to put corresponding dummy blob columns in the master table to create the form.

Error creating form based on a table

This is wierd. I am running WebDB2.2
and up until now it has been no problem
creating forms from tables. But now in
this schema called SUMI I am unable to
create a form based on a table. I get
the error below. I have assigned SUMI
almost every possible permission
(DBA, WebDeveloper) so I
don't think it is a permissions issue.

Need help with create page based on template

I created a template on my class computer and i created few
pages based on it.
Today i moved all the file&folders to my private
computer, and when i tried to create a new page based on the
template I got a messege:
Error accessing file: "c:\sigal\....\template_site.dwt"
sharing violation (error code 32)
What is wrong? What do I have to do?
Can anybody help me please???

Creating Chart based on a Table in same Pages Document

1. how can create a chart in a pages document based on an existing table in same document without the need to create a chart then paste the data of table into it ?
2. if i have a column vales and i copied it how to paste it in the column headers of the editing data window of a chart, i tried and all copied values will be pasted in the cell of one header and i cant select all column headers to paste the values in them ?

You can't. Charts in Pages rely on their own data table, or can pick up data from a Numbers table.
You can include column headers and data cells in a single paste, as I did here:
Select all six cells of the table
Copy
insert the chart (or Select the existing chart and click Edit Data in the Chart inspector).
In the chart's data table (below), click on the first header cell ('B1')
(Both the header cell and the data cell(s) in that column will be highlighted.
Paste.
(Results should be as shown below.)
Labels (in the left column) can't be included in this paste as the top left cell ('A1') apparently can't be selected. Haven't checked this fully as yet, and no time to do so at the moment.

Try this method,
1. Creat a Master Detail Form (Custom Layout and not tabular)
and in the master block select one field.
2. In the HTML layout for master remove the reference for
that field(so that nothing will appear in the master block
of the form).
3. Before the update (in the Pl/SQL event handler select the 'Save' event and write the following code to avoid updating master block).
p_session.set_value(p_block_name => 'MASTER_BLOCK',
p_attribute_name => 'MASTER_ACTION',
p_value => 'None');

For eg, let's say
Master is from 'Dept' table and Detail is from 'Emp' table(with join condition Dept.dept_id = Emp.dept_id). In the master remove everything except dept_id field and in the HTML layout for master remove the reference of the dept_id field(you cannot remove this field physically from the master layout). Now the form will look like multirow form rather than master detail form but only problem with this workaround is 'Detail Action' will be present in the detail block.

why dont you go for generic extraction to extract the data from the table TCURR to ODS.
create the objects according to the fields in the table and design the ODS. map the fields with the objects and extract the data. The you can report on the ODS.

Good question. We're basically looking for a grid look-and-feel so that the user can use the four arrow keys to navigate around. Basic dynamic column filtering and sorting features would be nice, but not required. In essence, each row in the grid represents a row in a table. Each column in the grid represents a column in a table. Each cell of the grid represents a column value in a particular row. Certainly, however, I'm not looking for all of the numeric calculation/equation capabilities of a spreadsheet. Mainly looking for that grid look-and-feel of representing tabular data.

Creating a adf page based on webservice data control

hello
i am using latest version of jdev 11g from otn.
i created a VO based on EO and define a view criteria as well. i added that to a AM and exposed it as web service and deployed to a wls server.
now i wish to created a adf page based on it so i created a ws data control based on the wsdl.
in the data control section now i see service as findSearchOrder. When i try to drop it on the page it created a adf form with two input boxes findControl and findCriteria.
So, I am not able to understand how exactly these are going to map to the actual search parameters?
Please advise

If you want to retrieve all records, you can set them to null.
But of course, it depends on what you want to archive (I suppose you want a search form?).

Creating View based on Current and previous data from same table

I am trying to create a view based on a table called “my_companies”. The table has following columns: “company_id”, “start_date”, “product_type_code”, “partner_id”
The main purpose of this view is to obtain previous company_id’s associated with a particular “partner_id“and “product_type_code”. So basically, I’m looking to create an extra column, say “prev_company_id” in the view along with all the other columns. The “previous” data can be obtained depending on the “start_date”. I’m not able to write a query successfully to do this.

Whenver you have a question, it helps to post:
(1) The version of Oracle (and any other relevant software) you're using
(2) A little sample data (just enough to show what the problem is) from all the relevant tables
(3) The results you want from that data
(4) Your best attempt so far
Executable SQL statements (like "CREATE TABLE AS ..." or "INSERT ..." statements) are best for (2).
Formatted tabular output is okay for (3). Type before and after the tabular text, to preserve spacing. The sample results should include any special cases that you foresee, such as one company having many previous companies, or vice-versa.
It sounds like might need a +self-join+, where you have two copies of the same table, as if the current companies were in one table and the previous companies were in another, even though they are all actually in the same table.

Create new table based on old table

I have a JTable. The user can re-arrange columns in this table. Then the user can select a couple rows and create a new selection set table based on these rows. The problem is as follows: When the user re-arranges the columns, I cannot seem to retrieve the new order.
Ex)
A table is created with fields: A B C
User rearranges to: B A C
I call code and fields are returned as: A B C
