I have created a component in C++ using COM. I need to use this component in javascript. But I am getting an error message as shown below:

CFOBJECT creating a COM object

If anyone was wondering how to find the program Id of the DLL
for use as the class parameter in the cfobject tag they need to
search for the DLL in the registry using regedit. Hope this helps.
This might be obvious to some but could not find any mention of it
in the documentation.

I have enabled the Activex setting in IE . But my component is not an Activex Component .

How to create Illustrator COM application Object in Invisible manner?

Hi,
I added CS6 COM reference in my VB.NET application and after that I have the following basic object creation in order to convert a eps file to svg. But for some reason when I create this COM object it is launching the Adobe Illustrator application. Why it is doing like this? It’s a simple COM object why it is interacting with Illustrator Editor? Could you guide me how to take care this issue please?

To the best of my knowledge in order to access the Illustrator object model that the application must be running through JavaScript since scripts are run via the UI.
I did find this in the documentation in refference to VB.
CreateObject launches Illustrator as an invisible application if it is not already running. If Illustrator is
launched as an invisible application you must manually activate the application to make it visible:
Set appRef = CreateObject("Illustrator.Application")
So instead of "As New" try "CreateObject"...

Error when creating a ReportDocument object in ver 11.5.3300.0

When I try to create a new ReportDocument from .NET the application exists with no other information. There is an event log entry similar to this one:

I have all version of .NET installed but please note that .NET is not required to reproduce the problem. Please read again my initial post. The error can be reproduced with this single line of VB Script and there is no .NET involved:
Set o = CreateObject("CrystalClientDoc.ReportClientDocument")
The same can be reproduced by creating a new ReportDocument object from .NET in any type of .NET application.

I haven't installed any additional service packs. Please see the versions of the files I have on my system to figure out the service pack:

The other computers where all works good have the same versions installed.

The error happens in btoh web and windows forms applications as well as by simply trying to create the Crystal COM object directly from VB Script without involving any .NET. So the same error will occur if CR are used from VB6 for example.

I get a crash in unmanaged code in cachemanager.dll at 0x3f8691b7. All the details are in my original post (scroll up). When this happens in a .NET application, the process is terminated and Vista shows a message that the program has stoped working. There is an error in the event log (see my original post)

Sun JDK 1.3.1 calling a Microsoft COM object???

My question, which inevitably in my eyes has been deemed impossible to answer, is as follows: How can one incorporate MS VM to connect to an MS COM object using Sun�s JDK 1.3.1?
I�ve tried the following: I ran the simple example of a COM object with a client interfacing with that COM object that came with MS SDK for Java 4.0. I built the *java files using the given makefile (jvc). I registered the Hub with javareg and created a hub.tlb with jactivex.
Using JBuilder 4.0, I built a small non-swing object that created in instance of the Client class from above:

Therefore, has anyone had any luck creating/connecting/instantiating a MS COM object while trying to run it under Sun�s VM? Note: I have to do it this way since the application I�m trying to connect to is built as a COM server and I�m using Java as my application language.

gui != COM.
In other words COM objects are not limited to GUI objects. From your question it looks like you have a COM object which is a gui component. And you want to use it in swing. If it is just a fancy drop down box then I would say the complexity isn't worth it. If it does more, then I believe that people have put 'windows' into swing frames. You can search this forum or perhaps the "Advanced Programming" (or even all forums) for more discussion on that.

On cleanuing up COM object when using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel

When using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel the COM objects that are created by the code must be released using System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject().
Most of the time it's pretty clear when a new COM object is created such as:

How can I tell if getting a property creates a new COM object or not?

Marshal.ReleaseComObject on the font object after using it.
Most member object of an object are a single instance and each time you access the member you simply get the pointer to that instance. For example:

It looks like each time I access the font member I get a new object. I suspect that is not the case and what I am getting is two pointers to the same object and the reference counter is incremented by one.
So really the question is what happens to the font member object of the Range object when the range object is released. I assume the font member will be released along with the Range object ever if the font object has a reference count greater then
0.
If I am correct in my assumption then I can access the font member object as much as I need to without worrying about releasing it.
I have been reading a lot about working with COM and the need to use Marshal.ReleaseComObject and there does seem to be a lot of disagreement and even confusion on the
mater about when and if COM objects need to be explicitly released.

Need to create a COM dll Object in Java

Hello, I'm trying to find information on how I can write a simple COM object and save it as a dll file - using Java.
I've searched Google and it predominantly comes back with references to Visual J++, I don't have a copy of this and am unable to use the Microsoft SDK either...

Unix: Any support for creating com objects?

I'm looking into migrating a CF 8 server from Windows to
Unix. I see in the documentation for CreateObject that com objects
are not supported on Unix, "Note: On UNIX, this function does not
support COM objects."
Obviously, this won't work on Unix: Note:
<cfset image = CreateObject( 'com', 'ImageStoreCom.Image'
)>
But what about this, can I create a remote com object?:

Finally, if the example above is out of the question, are

How to creat COM object from dll file?

I tried to read about this topyc, but I didn't found eny example that creat
COM object. I downloaded jacob.jar
then I writed:

I get error (I put jacob.jar with all athers jars, I don't know way this erre)

In Eclipse:
1- To include jacob.jar for compile / run:
Choose the Java perspective, then in the Package Explorer right-click on the project and choose Properties.
Select Java Build Path from the left pane then the Librairies pane from the right.
Click on Add External Jars button and select the jacob.jar file then click Open then Ok.
2- To make jacob.dll and SMSCom.dll "visible" for run:
Open your Debug (or Run) Java application configuration (the one for your project's main class).
Select the Environment pane then click on Select button.
Select Path and click on Ok button.
Then re-select Path and click on Edit button.
Add the two appropriate folders for jacob.dll and SMSCom.dll in the Path and click on Ok then Apply.

Method not found error when creating COM object

i am trying to initiate a COM object with CF and Imagemagick
on windows 2003. when i initiate the object i get the error "The
selected method convert was not found." if i do a dump of the
method in the COM object but i cant call it. what am i missing?
the code i am using is attached.
the VBscipt sample that comes with imagemagick works fine,
its just that CF cant all it. any ideas?

How can I use a COM object that does not have a type library?

Hello,
I've created a com server in python for which I do not have a type library. I am able to call functions for this application in Python, TCL, I'm sure VB, etc. without the type library.
Must I have a type library registered to use this COM object with Labview? I was hoping I could simply supply the name to the refnum (or the GUID) then call functions by passings strings to the invoke node. This does not seem to be possible - am I missing something?
In the event that I cannot use a com server without a type library. Any recommendataions on how to create one? I'm wondering if I can use the same GUID and create a shell in LabWindows which generates the IDL/TBD file I need for Labview to see my
com server.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes that is true. LabVIEW needs that to configure the Property and
Methode Nodes correctly. Otherwise it would need to have a special
Property and Method Node with a configuration dialog similar to the Call
Library Node, but a LOT more complicated. Not sure many people could
make use of that, and it would be a very tiring experience trying to get
things setup in that way, by going through the edit, test, and crash
cycle over and over again.

I am not able to create a callable object of my web Dynpro application

Hi,
I have my Portal server installed with NW2004S and with other components as follows.
·WAS 7.0 SP9
·EP7.0 SP9
·CAF 7.0 SP9
·VC 7.0 SP9
But now my webdynpro application is not reflecting in web Dynpro Component(GP Interface) during the design time, when I am trying to create a callable object.
So please can you suggest what is the problem and how I will get it corrected.

I had created a complete CAF application which was working fine. Then the server got crashed and i lost everything.So then i again installed the server and upgraded it to SP7.But than i was not able to see my web dynpro application while creating callable object. So i created another instance in the server at the base level(SP4) and i was able to create callable object.
There is no problem in the webdynpro application.I have added runtime library referece to my project : sap.com/cafeugp~api and also implemented the Interface IGPWebDynproCO in my component.
So i dont know where i am going wrong while i am upgrading the server.
