Creating a dynamic flow chart

Hello,
I'm new to Flex (just downloaded the FB3).
I need to create a web interface which displays a flow chart.
New nodes (actions, decisions) may be added or deleted.
Any hints on how to do this?

The data that generates the chart is just a SQL statement and, like for reports, can be filtered based on the value of a field item.
I would suggest having a hidden field above the chart that will contain the value you want to filter by (eg, "1"), then update the branch to set this value, then update your chart's SQL statement to include a WHERE clause (eg, "WHERE Item = :FILTER").

Help with creating basic flow-charting app

Warning: I am a Total Flex Newbie, but experienced programmer (C#, Ruby/Rails, ...)
I am coming up to speed with Flex and want to dive in and improve my proficiency by creating a basic flow-charting app.
The app will consist of a canvas plus a limited set of resize-able objects that will reside in a "tools" container. These objects can be selected, dragged onto the canvas, connected to each other using a "connector" object -- either straight or right-angled lines, with the ability to be moved around the canvas while retaining their connections.
That's it.
I have been searching the forums and the web for pointers on how to start; but while I have found many related posts, I have not found enough to get me started.
I would appreciate any pointers to example code or tutorials on how to approach/get started on this app.

Created a flow chart and now cant' edit

I created this flow chart and now it just acts like a regular object and I cant edit it anymore.

Welcome to the forum!
Was the chart copied from some other application? Were all the elements grouped (under the Arrange menu, is Group greyed out)? Is it perhaps locked (are the control handles Xs instead of boxes)?

Hi, im wanting to create a flow chart of what im about to code in Labview. Is there good examples of flow charts or tutorials on how to do them?. As im a bit rusty.

Spending time on the design before coding is essential for complicated projects. I think it does not matter too much exactly what format or technique you use so long as you understand it and are consistent. I often start with a text document which lists the main requirements. If the user interface is significant, I create a list of user inputs to the program and outputs from the program which will be displayed to the user. Then I make a list of tasks which the program must perform.
Then I get another pencil and create a state chart or flow chart or some hybrid of the two.
Then I go back and refine each of these parts. For example beside each front panel control (on the user inputs list) I indicate whether a change in the control will generate an event, whether it needs to be disabled under certain conditions, whether there are other parameters associated with it, and so on. The task list will be expanded to list inputs, outputs, and the basic function of the task. A flow chart per state can be generated. Additional cycles of refinement can be added as needed.
Now, open LV and start coding.
Reviews at various stages should be included as appropriate.

How to create a dynamic SSIS package for multiple flat file destinations

Hi,
I have to create a ssis package which has single data flow task and inside that I have 23 source (sql- select * from - statements)- destination (flat files, 23 distinct) connection.
Now for each product I have to create separate SSIS package (i.e. if prod=abc then these read select * from abc_tables and 23 abc_ txt files)
I want to do it dynamically, means only single package and inside that variables will take select * values for each source-dest connection (so i believe 23 variables) and same for destination flat files.

What I feel is what you're looking for is to have a looping structure to loop through each of the 5
products.
In that case what you could do is this
1. Create a object variable in SSIS
2. Use a Execute SQL Task to populate the variable with all available products (I think you'll have a master table for that). Set ResultSet property to Full ResultSet and then in ResultSet tab map Object variable to 0 th index
3. use a ForEachLoop container with ADO .NET recordset enumerator and map to object variable. Create a variable of datatype same as that of Product identifier field to get individual values out
4. Inside loop create your data flow task with 23 source destination connection. In the query part use a parameter for product field and map it to the variable containing product value to get only data for the product.

How to create a Dynamic UI that can work as a Graphic builder

Hi Guys
I have a requirement here
There should be a Graphic Builder ...........like the way we see our Flex Builder
But this should be a web application with the following functionality
Lot of widgets on your left panel like say meter , cricle, chart, line graph etc. All this would be a different flex widgets(say compiled swf file loaded separately in the main application
On the right Panel there would be dash board where they can drag and drop this above widgets and create a separate page like dragging a chart. user would be given option to configure the points for chart ....................and the data for the live chart would be feed from the backend
Now I am little confused to how to go about ?
Creation of separate widgets is ok ?
Creation of applcation with this widgets is ok
Giving an option to drag and drop , configure is ok ?
But the main thing is that If we have to save the pages created by different user ? What is the best way to do that ? Do we use xml to save the customized widget pages including the UI layout information like widget Graph at coordinate x= 120 and y=56 etc etc then parse these xml to get the Layout back and putting the widget back to their location as the way the user created those pages

Creating a Dynamic Node for a Dynamic Graphic - Tutorial

Hi everyone,
I'm sharing my first tutorial, hope it'll be helpful for you.
In the Layout tab, it's possible to create an UI element "Business Graphic". It's a very simple tool that only requires a context node with a category attribute (that means, the values that will appear in the 'x' axis) and one or more series (each one with a color, generally a numerical value). It's possible to add a label for each series for better understanding of the Graphic.
Although it's a very powerful tool, there are some problems when we must create a graphic with N series and different labels. If the graphic use an ALV or internal table to fetch data, during runtime we can have more or less series. The definition of a static node and generic series is not enough in this case. That's why I'd like to present you this little tutorial to create a dynamic node that fetchs a dynamic graph:
In the WDDOINIT or Event Handler method that starts the application (once the data is available) we should create the dynamic node in the following way:
DATA: lr_node_info    TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node_info,
             lt_attributes      TYPE cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table,
             attribute           LIKE LINE OF lt_attributes,
             struct_type       TYPE REF TO cl_abap_structdescr,

* It's always good to check if the table was succesfully binded.
* I refresh the lt_alv table and get the values from the node for controlling

There are other ways of adding a node structure in the method add_new_child_node, but it works for me only with STATIC_ELEMENT_RTTI. The node is now created and has the data required for the graphic. Now, we should go to WDDOONMODIFYVIEW, or save the target view as a parameter, to create the graphic, bind the category and series and show it on the screen.

How to create a dynamic tree report

hi experts,
i have a requirement to create a dynamic tree report in OM module.
this report should show the number of people positions required in a org unit, and also the number of people available in a org unit.
There is something called as qualification catalog to which qualifications are attached, to these qualifications org units are attached, these org units will have some positions attached to it, and each of this position might have a person attached to it.
The user will enter the qualification catalog number in the selection screen for which he should be getting the result in a tree format which flows from qualification catalog to qualifications, from qualifications to org units, from orgunits to the total no of positions present in this orgunit and the no of positions occupied in the orgunit.
This is a challenging job as far as i am concerned.
Please suggest me a way to approach this,i promise to reward the answers.

How to create a dynamic parameter off a universe field

I am trying to create a dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports off my universe field. However the fields appear to all come in as STRING with length 65534 (memo field?). Therefore the fields are not available to choose in my parameter creation box. NOTE: In the universe designer, the field is set as CHARACTER type. I am just trying to make it work with the sample universes that are shipped with BobJ.
Is there a way in the Universe Designer to make the fields come into Crystal Reports as string fields so that I can choose them as the value for the dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports?

I'll try again,
My problem is that I want a dynamic paramater for my Master flow (on START1 activity, so it is something like that : start1.param = select seq.nextval form dual; or from a function GET_PROCESS_ID) but it seems that I must give a permanent parameter it can not be set dynamicaly. I want my flow to be independant of any human intervention. So if it is the first load it does one thing if not the first load it does something else. I can not understand the point of having a parameter (in) that can not be set dynamicaly (looks more like a constant to me, or I'm missing something here). Hope your getting my point.
