    Hello Experts,
Can any one provide me with step by step procedures to create an infocube in BI 7 ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jessica.

    Hi,
    ) Create a data source
    RSA1->Source Systems->FILE(File)->PC_FILE(Filesourcesystem)->Create Application Component(optional)-Create Data source
    2) Create infoPackage
Right click on the data source and do
    3) Create the data provider
    4) Create Transformation
Right click on the data provider, choose 'create transformation' and choose your data source (give relevant data source and its type)
Just connect the relavant fields between your data source and data provider.
    4) Create DTP
Then Double click on the DTP node created under yous transformations. choose the extraction mode as delta.
    5) Load the data: there are 2 ways:
you can run the infopackage and DTP separately or create a process chain consisting of these infopackage and DTP and run.
    Hope this helps.

BW is mainly for Reporting purpose on Organizations Historical Data.
It is a Data Warehousing solution developed by SAP in 1997. Using this we can analyze .....Subject Specific.....Integrated....Non volatile....Time variant Data in support of DECISION MAKING.
BW is offering End-End solution...like From Modeling to Repoting.
We can Extract data from 8 different source systems.
Business content is a big advantage.
Web Application Designer and integration to Portals are some other features of BW.
In ABAP ( R/3) Tables contain current data.
In BW Cubes contain historical Data.
R/3 is designed for Transactional purpose ( OLTP ).
BW is designed for Analysis purpose ( OLAP ).

  • May i know how to create Transactional Infocube, Data from cube to cube

    Hi All,
I need to create a Transactional Infocube. Can anyone help me how to create that. and how it differs from Basic cube while creating Transactional Infocube.
My other question is how to load data from one cube to another.( is it possible from basic to transactional )
    It's urgent.
    regards,
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/7b/a90e78d10311d4b3490050dadfb23f/frameset.htm
Transactional InfoCubes differ from Basic InfoCubes in their ability to support parallel write accesses. Basic InfoCubes are technically optimized for read accesses .
    Use
Transactional InfoCubes are used in connection with the entry of planning data. See also Overview of Planning with BW-BPS. The data from this kind of InfoCube is accessed transactionally, meaning data is written to the InfoCube (possibly by several users at the same time). Basic InfoCubes are not suitable for this. You should use Basic InfoCubes for read-only access (for example, when reading reference data).
transactional infocubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction of BW-BPS to enter planning data and using BW staging, whereas planning data then cannot be loaded simultaneously.
Anyway, the data from this kind of infocube is accessed transactionally, meaning data is written to the infocube (possibly by several users at the same time); basic infocubes are not suitable for this. I think this is the only proper use of this type of cube...
We have an option to switch the Tranasaction cube such as "Loding allowed and Planning not allowed" and "Planning allowed and loading not allowed".

  • How to create more $INFOCUBE

    Hi,
I hava created some cubes, they are all in the $INFOCUBE.
    how to create another $INFOCUBE.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
we can create only one cube with same technical name in one BW system, may be you are talking about $INFOCUBE folder which contains infocubes, if my assumption is correct, if you want to create one more infocube under $INFOCUBE folder, you need to create infocube in BW system with RSA1 Transaction code, under infoarea (new or existing one) -> right click Create Infocube.

  • Maximum number of aggregates that are created on infocube

    Hi,
Can anyone tell how many Maximum number of aggregates that are created on infocube.
    Regards@thanks

    HI,
I don't think there is any limit to the no. of aggregates. But it basically depends upon the volume of data and the reporting needs.

    Hi,
Is it possible to create one infocube object via rfc call? If yes, could you pls give me an example how to do it? Many thanks.
    regards,
    Hai

    Hi Julian,
I couldn't work out how to do this either, so I did it using the oracle.express.spl.SPLExecutor class and sending Express commands to create a program.
Let me know if you want to see some sample code.

  • How to find information who created an InfoCube

    Hi folks,
    I hope I won't be ridiculed
I am a junior consultant and I'm looking for information which might help me with current problem.
I would like to know is there any chance to see who created an InfoCube? - I am looking for login and preferably date of creation, is it possible?

    Hi Lukasz,
Open the Bex Query Designer, Goto Query->open->Infoareas->select the Infocube, you can see the "Last Changed On" date and time of the Infocube as shown in below image.
When you click on the Infocube, bex queries will be opened for which you can even find the Owner Name and "Last Changed by" user details along with the "Last Changed On" date and time details as shown in below image.

  • When do we create a Infocube & DSO?

    Hi Experts,
I got some doubts about Infocube & DSO. I want to know on what kind of scenario, we create an infocube & DSO? I know this is a usual question, but I want a detailed level of explanation.
    Thanks in advance,
    With warm regards,
    Kannan

    Hi Kannan,
    InfoCubes
An InfoCube describes (from an analysis point of view) a self-contained dataset, for example, for a business-orientated area. You analyze this dataset in a BEx query. An InfoCube is a set of relational tables arranged according to the star schema: A large fact table in the middle surrounded by several dimension tables.
The data is stored physically in an InfoCube. It consists of a number of InfoObjects that are filled with data from staging. It has the structure of a star schema. The real-time characteristic can be assigned to an InfoCube. Real-time InfoCubes are used differently to standard InfoCubes.
InfoCubes are filled with data from one or more InfoSources or other InfoProviders. They are available as InfoProviders for analysis and reporting purposes.
    DSO
A DataStore object serves as a storage location for consolidated and cleansed transaction data or master data on a document (atomic) level. This data can be evaluated using a BEx query.A DataStore object contains key fields (such as document number, document item) and data fields that, in addition to key figures, can also contain character fields (such as order status, customer). DSO consists of three tables: activation queue, table of active data, change log
The data from a DataStore object can be updated with a delta update into InfoCubes (standard) and/or other DataStore objects or master data tables (attributes or texts) in the same system or across different systems.
Unlike multidimensional data storage using InfoCubes, the data in DataStore objects is stored in transparent, flat database tables. The system does not create fact tables or dimension tables.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Create new infocube on BW always that I modify the application in BPC 7.0!

    Hi all,

Anybody know if this is normal behavior in BPC?

  • How to create an infocube with a different time reference characteristics

I need to create a similiar cube with a different time characteristic.
When I copy from inventory cube, the time reference characteristic is 0CALDAY. I tried to change it but not possible,
How then can I create a similiar cube with 0CALMONTH as the reference time characteristics?
    Thanks
    bye

    Hi Colin,
If you want your time reference characteristic to be 0CALMONTH, then you must ensure that all other time characteristics in the cube can be derived from this characteristic. the infocube by default chooses the most refined time charactersistics as its time reference characteristic.
That is in the cube you could then have characteristics lik 0CALQUARTER, 0CALYEAR...You cannot have 0CALWEEK or 0CALDAY since these cannot be defined from a value in 0CALMONTH.

    Hello Gurus
Im having a weird situation over here with my queries created over BI content info cubes.Ive gone through all the threads related to my issue and ive tried more or less all the solutions specified. I hope i would get a different solution than what has been stated in other threads. Im able to see the cube under the $INFOCUBE but i'm unable to see my queries created under the OLAP folder which is usually above the $INFOCUBE. Can you please help me out as im struck since a while and havent been able to move further. and the funny thing is im able to see some BI content queries created over other infocubes...but why mine?????
    my system details:
    SAP BW 7.30 SP5
    SAP BI 4.0 SP2

    Hi,
Have the BEX Queries been saved with the property "Allow external access" ?
Which Client Tool is displaying this problem?  Universe Designer? Information Design Tool ? WebIntelligence? etc
also, where are you creating your OLAP connection? CMC  or IDT ?
Which authentication type are you using? i.e Prompt is OK for Analysis, but WebI/CR require 'named' or 'sso'

  • Create an infocube from an existing infocube

    Dear friends,
I have to add two additional fields(characters) to an existing Infocube and also i have to develop a query on the modified infocube.I came to know that first i should COPY the existing infocube  to a new one and then i should continue the procedure like transformations ,uploading data etc.
Could any one give me the steps for how to create a new infocube from an existing infocube?
    Thanks
    Mohan Chand Reddy A

    Ho Mohan,
In RSA1, goto Info provider tab in modelling.
select your info cube --> right click --> copy.
in the next screen give the new name and description for the new info cube.
    or
in RSA1 --> modelling --> Info Provider --> select your info area --> right click
    select create Info cube.
in the next screen --> give name and description for new info cube and in copy from field give the info cube name to which you want to create copy.
in the screen, you will get all the fields into your new info cube.
    just check and activate.

  • Multiprovider should be always created for Infocubes? Even for 1 Infocube?

I was told that even if there is 1 infocube, I should still create a MultiProvider for that 1 InfoCube, because it is in theory good practice.
Is this a business norm? Is it bad practice to goto Query Designer and just open Infocube?
If this is true, can someone explain the logic behind this?
    Thanks in advance.

It is a good idea to Create an MP (MultiProvider) on the top of several InfoCubes. This improves performance. However, building a MP on a single InfoCube does not do much on performance but it saves a lot of additional admin that may be required in future to get adapt with. See the web log below for more clarity...
https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/10148?page=last&x-order=date [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
In my view, no matter whatever the number of InfoProviders are, if there is a scope to build an MP, we should do so.
