Creating a "Print View" of a Table on Another Sheet

Hi-
I would like to create a "print view" of a table on another sheet that already has reorganization filters applied to it.  There is a template in Numbers called "Employee Schedule" that has exactly this, where the "printable" table's cells simply reference every cell in the source table on the other sheet.
I know there is a way to very quickly (i think with a dragging motion), create the references in each cell in one or two operations, as opposed to going to each individual cell and typing in the reference to the source table.  I saw a post about how to do this a while back but cannot seem to locate it again
How do I do this?  Thanks again for everyones help ;-)

Select the first cell by clicking once on it, such that the border is highlighted. Then grab the little circle in the lower right corner of the border and drag it to the end of your table, either right or down. You can use this method to fill down or to the right. Sometimes it can be fussy, and if it refuses to behave, then you can use the alternate method, Copy and Paste. Click once on the first cell and Command-C. Shift-click the last cell and Command-V.

  • Need to create a vertical view from horizontal table w/delimited column

    I would like to create a vertical view frm a table that has a colon delimited column.
    I can get a single row to work. I need the level to reset to 1 when the row changes.

  • Autocomplete from another table in another sheet in same file

    I found how to get a price to autofill using VLOOKUP. I like it.
    Now, I want to be lazier and not need to type in the full item name in the row heading completely & exactly every time. I also don't want to have a drop down menu in every item line in each table unless there is no better alternative. I would like Numbers to autofill from an inventory list (table with quantities, prices, etc.) in another sheet. It seems that I should have been able to find this function explained but my searches were inadequate.
    Then, I will want Numbers to automatically update another column in the inventory table with the quantity of that item sold & the amount remaining which will cause calculations for the value remaining & sold in other columns (without changing the original inventory column). It seems to me that the formula may require numbers to search each table in each sheet for the item name in that row and add all sale quantities together. This means that the formulas would be constantly searching which sounds like it could slow things down a bit. So, again, maybe there's a more efficient way of doing this.

    It requires the use of external references which are perfectly described in the User Guide (page 122 in the English version).
    (3) sure, a reference is a cell's attribute so you will have to enter it in every cell of the row.
    When it's done for one row you may use the Fill Down tool which is also described (with quite all you need to use Numbers) in the User Guide.

  • Bringing a list of values from a table in another sheet

    Hey everybody - Numbers / Spreasheet novice here working slowly through my project.
    So in the first image I've got 2 cells with drop-down menus for "Day of week" and "Hour of day"  - Using the both of them causes 1 of the cells in the table below it to print "True"
    My goal is to link the "True" statement with a whole bunch of different tables on other sheets.
    For example:  IF Monday / 8am is "True"  > Print the list from Sheet-2::8am
    If I want to use the same blank table for "Monday / 9am" and "Monday / 10am" am I going to have to nest 119 separate equations in the same cell?
    Is there an easier way to do this?

    From your most recent description, it appears that table shown, named 8am, is the only source for the data to fill the table Day/Hour List when the two pop-up menus in the small table are set to Mon and 8am respectively, and that all of the data on 8am is to br copied to Day/Hour List.
    Extending that, I would assume that there is a similar source table for each combination of DAY and HOUR, and that setting the two pop-up menu cells determines which of these 105 tables becomes the source table for Day/Hour List.
    Since the source table ("8am") does not contain an indication of which day it is for, I'd further assume that this information is included in the Sheet name of the Sheet on which 8am is placed, and that the Sheet names are identical except for the (short) day name.

    Why bother? You can see from the small table with the day and hour pop-ups wich day and hour are selected. and it's easier to write the formula retrieving the data using those two values than to use values determined by which cell contains TRUE on a 7x15 table.
    Regarding "Mon 8am" and "Tuesday 8am": You will need to decide whether you are using full day names or short day names, then be fully consistent in that use in all instances—Sheet names, pop-up cell menu items, column headers, or any where else they might be needed in formulas.
    Does 8am contain "blank" as indicated, or is this an added note to indicate that these are actually empty cells? Do you want Day/Time List to show the text "blank", or to appear 'empty'?
    Note that only cells where data is entered directly are likely to be truly 'blank'; there's no way directly available to the user to create a truly empty cell using a formula or a pop-up menu. The closest approximation is a null string, which appears 'empty', but actually contains a zero length string (and a formula).
    Here's a possible solution, based on the assumptions above. The first example shows the result with Mon  8am selected. To the right, past the image of part of the sidebar, are images of the tables 8am and 9am from the selected sheet, Mon.
    The second example shows the same two tables (on the left), with the settings changed to Tue  9am.
    An image of two of the source charts from the Tue sheet are shown to the right of the Sheets list. Note that the Header Row in these is empty. The Header row cell in Day/Time List is filled using the data in the two pop-up menu cells.
    Formulas:
    Small table (Day Time): none. Header cells are directly entered data. Row 1 cells are pop-up menus.
    Day/Time List:
    A1: =Day Time :: A2&"  "&Day Time :: B
    A2, and filled down:

    The core of this formula is this repeated part: OFFSET(INDIRECT(Day Time::$A$2&"::"&Day Time::$B$2&"::$A$1"),ROW()-1,0)
    INDIRECT is used to build an absolute reference to a cell (A1) on the table named in Day Time::B2 on a sheet named in Day Time ::A2.
    OFFSET uses the referenced cell as its base, and returns the value from the cell ROW()-1 rows below it and 0 columns to the right.
    OFFSET is enclosed in an IF statement: IF(LEN(result of formula)<1,"",result of formula)
    In the first instance of OFFSET, the result is passed to LEN(), which measures its length in characters. IF that LEN is less than 1, IF returns a null string to 'my cell'. Otherwise, IF calls OFFSET once again, and the result is returned to 'my cell.'
    Expanding the result to a 27 row table requires only adding rows to the Day/Time List table, and filling the formula into those rows.

  • Transfer from Subtotal in one table to another sheet.

    Hi, about a year ago i made a salary application for my production company. This works quite well, but when I supposed to report amounts for each employed to the swedish tax authorities I am still not automatic because I haven't solved how to transfer a subtotal sum to a specific cell in another sheet. I am sure that this has been discussed earlier, but in the searches I have done I can't find a similar question. So if someone has an idea where to look or knows if it is possible.
    What I would need is to have a formula like LOOKUP (I guess that is the english formula for looking up references) or similar so that I can identify a Subtotal for a specific class of rows (i.e. salaries for one person).

I am all the time using and thinking within the frame of the elegant sorting functions that you find in the tables. Very easy to use when you need a quick result, though as far as I can see impossible to bring with you. But of course just put the conditions i a Sum.if. Simple!

  • Can I use a cell value to reference a table on another sheet?

    I'm not sure if this is possible and I have had no luck with searches, here is what I am attempting to do...
    On my first sheet I have a number of tables, each holding information on a service. Each table is named to match the service name.
    On another sheet I have a list of clients that use these services, with the service name (to match the table name on the first sheet) in a cell in the client's row.
    I would like to pull data from one of the cells on the Service table to include it in a concatenate formula in the clients row.
    I was hoping to be able to use the value of the cell with the service name in it as part of the formula to reference the service sheet...
    For example:
    ="something"&Services::B2::C6&"something"
    Is this possible, or is there a way I can work around the auto corrections that numbers keeps applying?

    you can construct the text of a cell reference as a string by concatenating information then use the function indirect() to turn the string into a reference.
    so you would do something like:
    =indirect("something"&Services::B2::C6&"something")
    this is assuming that "something"&Services::B2::C6&"something"  results in a string that would be a valid reference.

  • How can I create an anchor link, from one table to another?

    I want to make an .html web page with two tables, side by side. In the left table I want to put a list of names. In the right table I want to have text anchored at the top of the right table (linked anchor to the names in the left table) so that when I click on a name from the list in the left table the text associated with that name will appear at the top of the table on the right? In the right table, I want to be able to scroll up and down to read the text in the right table. In the left table I want the list to remain near the top of the page while I'm scrolling up and down in the right table. I want the list on the left always in view and stationary while I'm scrolling through the text in the right column.
      I tried just anchoring text to the top of the right column (without linking the anchor to a different html file) but when I scrolled down in the right table, the whole page scrolled down so that I could no longer see the list of names in the left column.
      How can I achieve this effect? Do I need to anchor to another html file, or can I achieve the result without linking to a different html file?

    Iframes should be in there, but they only show up when you're in code view. But all it does anyways is place the frame tags where your cursor is. You'll also need to add some properties, such as width and what not. A quick google for iframe properties will provide plenty of examples. Like a regular frame, it displays a separate a html page which must be referenced in the properties. A named anchor as we know is part of the link which can be used onnthe same page, or open another page to a certain location. So it's just a matter of formatting the link  so it targets and includes the iframe as well as the other attributes. I'm pretty sure it's doable and not too difficult, but again, a quick google shold provide the answer.

  • Can't update master table when creating a materialized view log.

    Hi all,
    I am facing a very strange issue when trying to update a table on which I have created a materialized view log (to enable downstream fast refresh of MV's). The database I am working on is 10.2.0.4. Here is my issue:
    1. I can successfully update (via merge) a dimension table, call it TABLEA, with 100k updates. However when I create a materialized view log on TABLEA the merge statement hangs (I killed the query after leaving it to run for 8 hrs!). TABLEA has 11m records and has a number of indexes (bitmaps and btree) and constraints on it.
    2. I then create a copy of TABLEA, call it TABLEB and re-created all the indexes and constraints that exist on TABLEA. I created a materialzied view log on TABLEB and ran the same update....the merge completed in under 5min!
    The only difference between TABLEA and TABLEB is that the dimension TABLEA is referenced by a number of FACT tables (by FKs on the FACTS) however this surely should not cause a problem. I don't understand why the merge on TABLEA is not completing...even though it works fine on its copy TABLEB? I have tried rebuilding the indexes on TABLEA but this did not work.
    Any help or ideas on this would be most appreciated.

    Thats what I thought, the MVL will only read data that has changed since it was created and wont have the option to load in all the data as though it was made before the table was created.
    From what I have read, the MVL is quicker than a Trigger and I have some free code that prooved to work from a MVL using it as a reference to know what records to update. There is not that much to a MVL, a record ID and type of update, New, Update or Delete.
    I think what I will have to do is work on a the same principle for the MVL but use a Trigger as this way we can do a full reload if required at any point.

    I am attempting to create a materialized view to replicate tables with spatial columns to another server. I get to the following statement when I get the error:

    The following works. Note, I'm not sure it makes sense (or if you are allowed) to use materialized views as
    a replication mechanism with objects. For instance, I'm not sure it database links are supported with objects.
    Replication is supported with , and might be the better option. In any case, this is what I got to work:

  • Create a Maintenance view for table T500P

    Hi Experts,
    We have a requirement where customer want an additional field in table T500P and for the same a custom maintenanve view has to be created.Moreover, If there is any update insert or change in the ZView/Ztable the same should be reflected in standard table T500P.
    Steps already taken :-
    We have created a ztable (copy of T500P ) and add the required custom field to it.
    We have also copied the view i.e V_T500P to our custom view and also use base table as T500P .
    We also create a foreign key for PERSA in Ztable and use T500P as check table for that with cardinality 1:1.
    To update the MOLGA & BUKRS field data in ztable we have set both the field as a primary key & create a foreign key with check table T500L & T001 & cardianality as 1:CN for key fields.
    In custom maintenance view we have set the realtionship of ztable t500l & t001 with the base table T500P.
    Now, if we are trying to maintain the view only T500P table is getting updated and Ztable is updated with only PERSA value.
    Please provide some directions for the resolution of this issue.

    The view you selected by clicking File > Options > Project View is the default view for every new project you create from a blank project template.  This is a global option, so setting it from the checked out Enterprise Global file serves no purpose. 
    When you select a view as your default view, you will see that view applied to the blank project that is opened when you launch Microsoft Project 2010, and you will see it applied if you create new blank projects.  If you create enterprise templates for
    people to use in your organization, you should simply apply the view to the template that you want as the default so that users will see this view immediately when they create a new project from the template.  In addition, if you apply a view to an open
    project, close and check in the project, and then reopen the project, you will see the last view applied in that project (as Guillaume correctly points out).
    Beyond this, there is no method possible for the Project Server administrator to specify a default view for the Microsoft Project application used by the project managers in your organization.  This is an option each PM must set.  Hope this helps.
