Creating anchors

I'm trying to create a "go back to top of page" kind of link, or maybe a way to hyperlink to text rather than just the top of the page. Im trying to make a FAQ site with lots of posts and want to be able to navigate from a list of questions down to that question, and then back to top. I know nothing about coding, or html. any help?

I suspect Apple deliberately omitted anchors from iWeb, and the reason is beginning to emerge.
After creating a site in iWeb, I decided to add the finishing touches to the content e.g. standardising the fonts, colours, navigation and that sort of thing. That’s when I discovered iWeb doesn’t do anchors at all. “An inconvenience but not a showstopper” I thought.
Well, it transpires that it is a bit of a showstopper if you have sub-menu links on the left to parts of the page. So, to get round the problem I thought I’d add anchors through another editor that does support anchors. But it’s only until after you add the anchors that you see the problem.
As you would expect, the first click on a link jumps to the right part of the page BUT when you do it, everything above the first link disappears from the page. If you have a navigation bar, a logo or any other elements above your 1st link to an anchor, it vanishes.
At first I thought this must be a bug with the non-iWeb editor, so I tried a few more. In fact, I tried them all. I tried creating anchors and links in my iWeb HTML pages using ALL of these tools:
Macromedia CS3 (Dreamweaver) [on Windows]
Homesite [on Windows]
Freeway
RapidWeaver
Kompozer
Komodo Edit
Taco Edit
TextWrangler
(the list is endless)...
So, it looks like I’ll have to redesign the site without anchors.
Anyone else experience anything similar?

Hel with modifying cs5/6 script...create anchored frames from text

I have one great time saver script for cs5 for create anchored frames from text tagged with/or charachter style/paragraph style. This work in cs6 but have some "bugs" for me. Script need to be compatible with InDesign CS6.
1. script in original (look bellow) create text frame which is fitted to lenght of the text. I make change and change 466 line:
AnchoredTextFrame.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT);
now frame is wide as I write in check box, good. But frame not resize to lenght of the text so I add after above lines 466-470:

2. One "bug". For some reason script alter paragraph style of other text which is not subject to be cutted in anchored frame.
How to resolve this?

стандартам разработчиков программы Adobe InDesign. Первоначально идея и скрипт по созданию
привязанных фреймов принадлежит Thomas Silkjær для версии ID CS4. C появлением версий CS5
и CS5.5 скрипт перестал в них выполняться, да и в версии CS4 не всегда корректно работал.
Анализируя недочеты скрипта в данной его версии были исправлены ошибки и внесены
функциональные дополнения исходя из понимания задачи автором модификации. Добавлена
возможность выбора стилей, если они они находятся в группах (папках), возможность выбора
единиц измерения из выпадающего списка, изменены GREP-выражения для поиска текста,
область действия скрипта ограничена материалом (Story), а не документом.

Hi Cari,
I did create a new user account (admin level) and InDesign works like a charm.
When I went back to the other account, plug-ins gone, I deleted the prefs and caches, restarted and still everything is crashing as before.
At least I am working on one account and I will contiue to troubleshoot on the other account. And at some point either the new account will crash or the old account will work and I will go from there.

Hi Hemi,
Sure--tell the insertion point to create the object. For example, to add a text frame:
//Given a reference to an insertion point "myInsertionPoint"...

Now you have a text frame anchored/inline in the story. Next, recompose the story containing the frame:
myInsertionPoint.parentStory.recompose();
...and resize the frame.

At this point, you can adjust the frame's anchored object settings (your settings will probably vary, but this should give you the idea).

Actually i have created anchor frame, but it is not allowing to place the xml element, it shows "inline frame xml elements not allowed" some thing like this.
I have handled anchor frame type is "custom" but it shows "inline frame".
Any of you got better idea about this.

I believe this has to do with you doing a placeXML, where the XML contents does not match the tagged frames in the document.
Again i'm not sure, but i dont think this has to do with what kind of frame you are placing into(inline or custom anchor) rather if your tagged frames and XML match up.

Creating anchor links over a PSD header

I have created my header in Photoshop and pasted it in to my one-page site as a graphic. In order to create anchors I've created text boxes over each word - no fill and no stroke - and lableled each one to the corresponding anchor. In Preview only the first link works? Is there a better way to do this?

Yes. You can either used Named Destinations, or page views.
Named Destinations need to be set up before the link is created, but can be
used by more than one link. Page views are created ad-hoc when you select

Is there any way to handle anchor speed. Beceause that way we can handle auto parallax scrolling part maybe. Default speed is way too fast for parallax scrolling.
And isn't there any rotate button for prallax scrolling. At least I think it must be included. Same like scrolling options such as, before position, after position, rotate left, rotate right(speed) So we can move and rotate at the same time while scrolling. And that would cause better animations.

Well first of all let me just say that I am a beginner on CF.
And I say this so that whom ever is so kind on answering would do
so in a way that it is easy for me to understand.
I have actually created a site that reads off a database and
selects categories.
the categories are all in one page so when I click on
Category C I need the link to take it to the middle of the page
where I have category B products.
I have never done this with CF and I read that this is
possible , but just dont see one answer that I would understand.

I am using the spry accordion from DW CS6. HAving 6 panels.
I want to do this but can't manage it the usual html way...and I am clueless about javascript:
I want to create a wordlink that forwards people to the content of a different panel within the same accordion.
I tried the usual naming of anchor and creating link to such but nothing happens. I googled a bit for answers but I come up with js and that is abracadabra to me. The names in the js are nothing likie html classes that I can target so I have no clue what to do.
Any help would be very appreciated on this matter.
One other problem I am having is this:
My accordion is broken in the Opera browser....anybody an idea what causes this? Do I miss some plug in my browser?

Create "anchor" to jump to animation frame?

I want to create an animation file, and have a Table of Contents in the beginning frame(s). Then, have the ability to click on text there and jump to a designated frame of the animation --- how do I do that? Do I create one file in Adobe Edge Animate, then import it into Dreamweaver to add "anchor" code?
The idea is to jump to a section of the animation file, rather then being forced to waste time viewing the entire animation. There was always the "fast forward" button, but I'm hoping for a Table of Contents and an "anchor" solution (HTML equivalent would the old anchor and linked text).
I don't want a Flash solution.
The other problem may be browser compatability.

Edge can do this for you at ease. You can create Labels that you can use to 'jump' to different parts of the animation itself.

Create anchor on "intersection" not working, is always off

When I use the new anchor tool to create a new point on an intersection, it is never EXACTLY on the intersecting section, but off by a little bit. Sure, I could manually edit the anchor, but the time spent doing this many times over adds up and a slight alteration to the geometry occurs as well.
Both anchors were created on the same so called "intersection". I would appreciate it if someone could direct me as to how to make anchors on the true intersections.

Let me get this straight.
When you hover the Add Anchor Point Tool over an intersection, "intersection" appears beside it, and then you click, but the new anchor is not at the intersection. Hmm. If your preferences are set as recommended above, you do have a problem.
Your screen shot is pretty soft, and I'm not sure what is going on in your first example, but looking closely at the right image, this is what I see:
The arc coming from the left is an open path. You can see its endpoint. It doesn't intersect the straight path at all. The strokes are aligned, not the paths. When you hover over what you think is the intersection (there isn't one), the tool picks up this endpoint and snaps to it, placing the new point there. The distance between the straight path and the endpoint of the arc could be less than the snapping tolerance set in your Smart Guides preferences, so even if you hover precisely over the straight path, the new point could snap to the endpoint of the arc. This will depend on which way you are moving the mouse. If you move the cursor over the arc endpoint first, it will pick it up and indicate "anchor". It will do this until the cursor excedes the snapping tolerance, then it looks for a new target. So you cursor could be over the straight path, but still locked to the arc endpoint. And will place the new point there. Coming from the right, if the cursor passes the straight path first, and reads "path", even if you move it over the anchor point. And will place the point on the path. With two targets within the snapping tolerance, the unexpected can happen. If this guess is right, when you hover over what you think is the intersection, the cursor will indicate "path" or "anchor", but never "intersection". There isn't one.
Short story, strokes could be leading you astray. I usually do this kind of operation in paths only mode (Crl+Y). This way strokes and fills don't confuse the issue. The above image would look something like this.
I could be barking up the wrong tree, but I hope not. Otherwise, you could have a software issue.

Creating anchored objects underneath a textframe?

Hi,
I'd like to make a box underneath a textframe and anchor it so that it will move along with a special section of the text. When I anchor the box it is automaticly placed on top of the text wich is not my intension. Also if I place the box in the back befor anchoring. Can you help me:)?

I have found the issue and it may help beginners so here is the answer:
Before you add a new anchor on a circle path make sure you have deselected
the "view->Snap to Grid". Otherwise you will have little chance to be over the path...!

Unable to open local file using af:goLink and anchor link in JSF page.

I want to open a file at a perticular location on client machine. I am using af:goLink to openg the file. But when i tried to click on the link it is not opening the file. If i give any other value like name of other site, it opens the link. It is not giving any exception also. I tried by puting notmal HTML anchor link. That is also not working. But if i put this anchor link in normal HTML page, it works.

What version of IE are you using? IIRC, IE 7 is supposed to prompt you. ("The web site is attempting to open a page in your Trusted Zone. This can let hax0rs pwnz0r you. Continue?" or something to that effect.)
If you use the verbatim tags, do you get an actual error message? That might help diagnose the problem.

View the anchor in the object navigator

Is it possible to list/see all the created anchor in the object navigator ?
