Creating custom dimensions/frame rate?

Hi,
I have a podcast intro that I'm trying to create. This is 640x360 and 30fps.
first, I can't even seem to set my project to my folder on my drive... this is very frustrating
second, and the killer is that I can't even seem to find a way to customize my settings! I'm almost certain I could do this in FCP HD, but now I can't even open that application any more... FCP X has taken that away from me.
Is there a way to do this, or a way to use the original FCP?
thanks,
Dave

Dave,
If you have a clip that is the size you're looking for, lay that down on the timeline first. The timeline (project) will conform to that clip.
Unfortunately, the frame rate is also dictated by that first clip and it cannot be changed. But there aren't many situations where you will want to change that.
As long as you have the aspect ratio correct for your project, you can always export to the right frame size for delivery. And yes, FCX only supports standard frame sizes for video. I tried but was unable to make a 480x270 timeline. I had to settle for 960x540 and transcode after editing.

    I need help on below questions. i appreciate all your help in advance.
    Can we create Custom Dimension ontop of SAP BI Infocube ? Does it support all functions like SQL and ORACLE database supports ? Can any body have list what kind of function it supports ? Does it support If..else ..if condition ??
    Ex. If Account = 410000 and Profit center inlist 100,200,500,999 Then u201CSales Revenueu201D else ifu2026.etc., Can we write this kind of condition in Universe on top of SAP BI Infocube ?

  • Swf created at one frame rate, plays very slow in Captivate

    Mac Leopard, Flash CS5, Captivate CS5 Demo, all updates applied to the CSS5 Suite
    I created swf with one frame on the main timeline, all animation is done within a single movieclip on that frame. When published from flash it plays at my desired speed 30 FPS. When in Captivate it moves 1 fps.
    Is this a standard for Captivate in playing the swf?
    Additonally when I set to Durtation of animation its just fills the however long the time length is for the slide, even though the animation ends long before that.
    Searched help, searched the forums, any recommendations or alternative search terms i should be using to find the answer.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Glad it worked, and sorry, do see it was your first posting and forgot to say Welcome on the Captivate forum.
    Good question: I searched the Help and the only thing about synchronisation I found was what I paste at the bottom of this post. Perhaps you could add some comment in the Help about this subject? I did not check the videos and do not know about an existing manual?  Just know (how? out of experience) that it is best to synchronize, that is all.
    Have a nice day,
    Lilybiri
    Synchronize With Project
    Synchronizes the speed at which the animation file plays with the Timeline speed. If you find that the animation file is not playing smoothly, test with this option selected and cleared to see which setting gives you better results.

  • Create custom image frames in Master slides

    Hi folks-
    I see how to customize all the content for a custom theme, but I don't see where I can define new image frames in a custom Master theme. For example, say I have a dotted border I want to act as a new frame for a media placeholder. Where can I define this?
    Thanks.

    You can't add a custom frame because they aren't stored in the file when you give it to someone else. Let me rephrase that, you COULD make a custom frame, and I actually did for Keynote 08, but it will ONLY work if you manage to install it on every copy of Keynote you use. If you open your file on a copy of Keynote that uses that frame, it will come up without the frame.
    You could go old school and just make a frame in photoshop, then stick that on the master slide and stick your photos behind it (there's an option to allow layering with master slide items). That's how Keynote used to work.

  • Create custom folders with custom icons like created by Vibe

    I would like to create a custom folder and sub folder in the GW folder list to link to an outside feature. Ideally, it would display in a custom pane on the right like the email list, forum plugin or calendar view.

    You might want to have a look at Russ Ward's WS Utilities: http://weststreetconsulting.com/WSC_Utils.htm
    ImpGraph by the late Bruce Foster also did most of this, but is no longer available.
    Steve Kubis' AutoText may also provide part of the solution (custom sized Anchored Frames): see: http://www.siliconprairiesoftware.com/Products.html
    You can also create custom anchored frames on your Reference pages and then copy & paste from there. Automatically scaling an imported file to properly fit would require a custom FrameScript or plug-in - FM's auto-scaling on import may distort your graphic.

  • Coverting frame rates

    I have a piece of animation in my live-action short which was created at a frame rate of 15 fps (I also have an alternative version at 10 fps). Every time I drop it in the 29.97 timeline as is, it drops frames. Do I need to convert it to 30 fps before dropping it in the timeline and how do I do that? Thanks.

    Have you tried looking in the manuals? I simply opened the online help in fcp, typed in frame rates in the search box and up popped:
    Volume 4 - Media Management and output... Also contains detailed explanations of settings and preferences and information on video formats, frame rate and timecode.
    Might be the place to start.

  • Frame rate changes after psd imort

    I'm not so experienced in Motion. When i start i use a PAL preset to create a new project. After that i want to import a psd file as project, in order to animate all layers. After that the frame rate has changed in 30 fps! I can't find anything in de user manual about it.
    G4 pb 1,67   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1.5 gb ram

    You're creating 2 separate projects when you do this - one when you created a project using a PAL preset, then a second time when you imported a PSD file AS a project (this creates a brand-new project using the PSD file, it doesn't import it into the one you already created). The frame rate of a project can't be changed after it's been created.
    What you need to do is create a new PAL project, then drag & drop the PSD file from the File Browser into your PAL project, hold there a second and choose "import all layers" from the drop menu, or use the Import command (NOT "Import As Project") to bring your PSD into your project.

  • How to render a video from image sequence with custom frame rate?

    Dear all,
    For a project i would like to create a video from 47 images with a custom frame rate. To achieve this i take the following steps in Photoshop CS6 extended:
    1) File -> Open...
    2) Select the first image and select " image sequence ". All images have the same size (1280 x 1261 px) and are numbered correctly.
    3) Click open
    4) Frame Rate: Custom 3 fps
    5) File -> Export -> Render Video... -> Render
    6) Play the video with VLC. The video shows a still image of the first image.
    If i choose a frame rate of 10 fps, then there is no problem. VLC plays the video as expected.
    Is there a other way to create a video from 47 images and choose a custom frame rate? Or what am i doing wrong?

  • Creating a Gif is different frame rate

    If I have an uncompressed .AVI file that I created in After Effects CS5.5 which is 23.976 fps, and load it in Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5, and tell it to create a .GIF of it, at an output fps of 23.976, when I load the created .GIF into Adobe After Effects it tells me the frame rate is 25 fps and there is a black frame padded on the end.  I want the frame rate of the GIF to be what I ask it to be, ie. 23.976, with no additional black frames.
    Here's what happened with screenshots:
    1. I load the uncompressed AVI file that was created in Adobe After Effects CS5.5 into Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5.  Note below that Adobe Media Encoder is saying that the source clip is 23.976 fps, and that the export settings are to create an animated GIF at 23.976 fps.
    2. After Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 has said "done" (Encoding Completed Succesfully) for this export to a .GIF, if I take that .GIF file that Adobe Media Encoder has just created into Adobe After Effects CS5.5, this is what it says:
    As can be seen above, Adobe After Effects CS5.5 is saying the GIF file that Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 has just encoded is actually 25 fps, not 23.976 fps like I told it to be exported as.  Also, the GIF Adobe Media Encoder has created is 10 frames long, whereas my original uncompressed AVI is 9 frames long.
    Edit: I've just been reading up on the GIF format and it seems it doesn't store a frame rate but instead stores a frame delay, which is in hundredths of a second.  If this is just an integer, is this the reason for the displayed frame rate discrepancy, ie. 1 frame at 23.976 fps  would be 4.1708 hundredths of a second I think, and 1 frame at 25 fps would be 4 hundredths of a second I think - both rounded to the nearest integer would be 4 hundredths of a second so would the frame delay be set to "4" for both 23.976 fps and 25 fps? (there is also the fact that some short time will be taken for the drawing of the frame)
    Though even with the above, it shouldn't be increasing the amount of output frames.  It converts it correctly (no additional frames) if I use VirtualDub to convert the AVI to GIF instead of Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5.

    Thanks.  Could you get them to also check other parts of the code too.  eg. when I had a work area set in Adobe After Effects CS5.5 and then loaded that project into Adobe Media Encoder (dynamic link etc.) and rendered just the work area I think it was about a frame out then too - I don't think it was a GIF in that case but another type (maybe AVI/H264).

  • Cannot create slideshow with high frame rate

    I have just bought QuickTime Pro version 7. I am using Windnows XP SP2 on a Pentium D machine.
    I am trying to create a movie with still images I captured from my digital camera. I created a 10 seconds slideshow and set the frame rate to 30 frames per second. I then saved the file as a Quicktime movie. When I played the movie with my QuickTime Player, I could see actions for the first two seconds only. After that, the picture didn't change eventhough the progression bar was moving. Once the movie reached the end, the player then changed the frame to show the last picture of my slideshow.
    In short, only the first 60 images are shown in the first 2 seconds. Then the slideshow was stuck with the 60th image, until it changed to the 300th image at the very end.
    Does anybody has the same experience? Did I do anything wrong?

    One more thing. If I set the frame rate to be less than 10 frames per second, it works fine. It just won't work with high frame rate.

  • JMF Dimension and frame rate

    Why I'm not getting success when I try to determinate the Dimension and frame rate of the VideoFormat passing the parameters to the constructor ?
    processor.setContentDescriptor(new FileTypeDescriptor(FileTypeDescriptor.MSVIDEO));
    TrackControl tracks[] = processor.getTrackControls();
    float rate = Math.abs(Float.parseFloat(jcbQuadrosSegundo.getSelectedItem().toString()));
    VideoFormat vf = new VideoFormat(VideoFormat.H263, getTamanho(), Format.NOT_SPECIFIED, Format.byteArray, rate);
    FormatControl fc = (FormatControl) tracks[0];
    Format f = fc.setFormat(vf);
    tracks[0].setEnabled(false);
    processor.realize();
    ...getTamanho() return an Dimension that indicates de width and height.
    jcbQuadrosSegundo is an JComboBox.
    Thanks !!

    Skype is generally on autopilot.  I believe 1920x1080 (1080p) would be the max resolution as far as I can recall.  If the Internet connection isn't good enough at both ends, it will drop down to the resolution the call can handle.  The max resolution of the mobile device would be dependent on the hardware and the Skype client.  The webcam resolution compatibility is sometimes dependent on the version Skype.  Some people achieve better compatibility with the desktop version 6.1 vs the current 6.3.  If you want to monitor the resolution you can view the call technical info.  It will display the current resolution of both feeds and other call stats.
    This external site has some good info on it, though a bit dated, it should provide some insight.  I'm not sure if any of the mobile resolutions have been updated greater than 320x240.

  • Mixing Frame Rates and Creating Old Film Look?

    Hello, I'm working with AVCHD footage which is 59.94 fps and have made my sequence settings at this frame rate. I've dragged in a few clips 23.98fps, 24fps, 25fps and 29.97fps, I'm attempting to give it a old film look so was going to render out at 14 fps as this is what 8mm is filmed at, I've never worked with mixed rates so any advice as to whether this is going to work? Should I have my sequence setting at my highest frame rate and the majority of the video is 59.94fps? would it work exporting at 14 or 16 fps?

    I've never worked with mixed frame rates, but for the old film look, I like the Posterize Time effect set to 18 (one of the two standards for Super 8 that my camera had) and use Magic Bullet Misfire.

  • Custom frame rates? (40.00)

    Any way to hack files to be able to render out at 40.00fps? Purely to improve smoothness a bit (my source videos are 200+fps, the difference between 30 and 40 is instantly noticable with the final result). 59fps is a little too much.
    Things like this make me envy Sony users ;/
    Using PP 4.0 btw.

    Why would 4.2 add more frame rates, it doesn't.
    I tried editing a preset file from mdia encoder - frame rate line, but it still ends up at 30 (it displays "40." in the preview window and 1 in the drop-down) as suggested here > 40fps timebase in premier 7 pro ? - Video Editing Forums: Digital ...
    But that didn't work so I'm out of ideas.

  • JPEG viewing low frame rate.

    Hi, I am trying to play a list of jpeg files using player, as if it is a jpeg movie. But I am getting low frame rate, like 10 fps. However, by using the same jpeg files, and make it in a .mov file, the player could play it at 30 fps (the setting during making the stream). The .mov file is produced using the same setting as the program JpegImagesToMovie posted on the forum.
    The testing applet that run the movie in full rate is (simplified, without exception catching):
    url = new URL(getDocumentBase(), mediaFile);
    mediaFile = url.toExternalForm();
    MediaLocator mrl = new MediaLocator(mediaFile);
    Player player = Manager.createPlayer(mrl);
    player.start();
    For the JPEG file stream, the player is created as:
    Player player = Manager.craetePlayer(customdatasource); // refer to below for the custom data source class
    1. Is it I need to make the data source format to something else , so that the player will play it with 30 fps instead of the slow 10 fps rate?
    2. How would a player render a jpeg image faster? I checked the timing, the loading time for each jpeg file is less than 1 ms, but it took the player around 100 ms to render the loaded image.
    I created my own PullBufferDataSource and PullBufferStream. Below is the list of my program. I make the datasource and datastream to load a image file each time the:
    read( Buffer buf)
    method is called in the datastream class.
    public class MJPEGDataSource extends PullBufferDataSource {
    protected InputStream sourceStream = null;
    private MJPEGDataStream streams[];
    public MJPEGDataSource(int width, int height, int frameRate, String sourceFile) {
         streams = new MJPEGDataStream[1];
         streams[0] = new MJPEGDataStream(width, height, frameRate, sourceFile);
    public void setLocator(MediaLocator source) {
    public MediaLocator getLocator() {
    return null;
    public PullBufferStream[] getStreams() {
    return streams;
    public String getContentType() {
    return streams[0].getContentDescriptor().getContentType();
    public void connect() {
    public void disconnect() {
    // TODO: Add your code here
    public void start() throws IOException {
    public void stop() throws IOException {
    public Object getControl(String parm1) {
    return null;
    public Object[] getControls() {
    return new Object[0];
    public Time getDuration() {
    return Duration.DURATION_UNKNOWN;
    public class MJPEGDataStream implements PullBufferStream {
    protected boolean eofMarker;
    protected ContentDescriptor cd;
    String sourceName;
         int width, height;
    VideoFormat format;
    FileInputStream infile = null;
    public MJPEGDataStream(int width, int height, int frameRate, String sourceFile) {
    eofMarker = true;
    this.width = width;
    this.height = height;
    sourceName = sourceFile;
    format = new VideoFormat(VideoFormat.JPEG,
    new Dimension(width, height),
    Format.NOT_SPECIFIED,
    Format.byteArray,
    (float) frameRate);
    cd = new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW);
    try {
    infile = new FileInputStream(new File(sourceName));
    catch (IOException ex) { }
    public boolean willReadBlock() {
    if(eofMarker)
    return true;
    else
    try {
    return infile.available() == 0;
    } catch (IOException ex) {
    return false;
    public void read(Buffer buf) throws IOException {
    if (infile.available() <= 0) {
    System.err.println("Done reading all images.");
    buf.setEOM(true);
    buf.setOffset(0);
    buf.setLength(0);
    eofMarker = true;
    return;
    byte data[] = null;
    if (buf.getData() instanceof byte[])
    data = (byte[]) buf.getData();
    byte byteSize[] = new byte[4];
    infile.read(byteSize);
    int size = byteToInt(byteSize);
    if (data == null || data.length < size) {
    data = new byte[size];
    buf.setData(data);
    infile.read(data, 0, size);
    buf.setOffset(0);
    buf.setLength(size);
    buf.setFormat(format);
    buf.setFlags(buf.getFlags() | buf.FLAG_KEY_FRAME);
    public Format getFormat() {
    return format;
    public ContentDescriptor getContentDescriptor() {
    return cd;
    public long getContentLength() {
    return SourceStream.LENGTH_UNKNOWN;
    public boolean endOfStream() {
    return eofMarker;
    public Object[] getControls() {
    return new Object[0];
    public Object getControl(String controlType) {
    return null;
    public int byteToInt(byte in[]) {
    if(in.length > 4) return -1;
    int result = (in[3] << 24) + ((in[2] << 16) & 0x00FF0000) +
    ((in[1] << 8) & 0x0000FF00) + ((int)(in[0]) & 0x000000FF);
    return result;

    Hi again.
    I found the solution to my problem. In the read(Buffer buf) function, the buf timestamp and sequencenombur should be set in order to play at the expected frame rate (30 fps in my case):
    public void read(Buffer buf) throws IOException {
    if (infile.available() <= 0) {
    System.err.println("Done reading all images.");
    buf.setEOM(true);
    buf.setOffset(0);
    buf.setLength(0);
    eofMarker = true;
    return;
    byte data[] = null;
    if (buf.getData() instanceof byte[])
    data = (byte[]) buf.getData();
    byte byteSize[] = new byte[4];
    infile.read(byteSize);
    int size = byteToInt(byteSize);
    if (data == null || data.length < size) {
    data = new byte[size];
    buf.setData(data);
    infile.read(data, 0, size);
    buf.setOffset(0);
    buf.setLength(size);
    buf.setFormat(format);
    buf.setFlags(buf.getFlags() | buf.FLAG_KEY_FRAME);
    // ====== added line ========
    long time = (long) (seqNo * (1000 / format.getFrameRate()) * 1000000);
    buf.setTimeStamp(time);
    buf.setSequenceNumber(seqNo++);
    Thanks for reading.

  • Where is the frame rate setting control when making a slide show?

    I am trying to make a slide show using QuickTime Pro and cannot find the frame rate control.I put all my consectively-numbered jpegs in one folder. I then clicked on "File," the "Open Image Sequence," then a window opened up and I click on the first jpeg in the series of photos I want in my slide show. Then the first image appears in the QT Window. The instructions next say that I should be able to change the rate at which each slide/jpeg appears, but it doesn't tell you where to find the "frame rate" so I can change it. It doesn't appear at all on its own, so where is it? Anything else I'm missing? Thank you.

    What version of Photoshop Elements and or Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system?
    In addition, could you please clarify?
    It sounds like you are creating your slideshow in the Elements Organizer. Where are you seeing these distortions and blurs, in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Filmstrip or in the Premiere Elements workspace after you have transferred the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 9 Slideshow Editor to Premiere Elements workspace?
    What are the pixel dimensions of the photos in this slideshow and how many of these photos are in the slideshow? What format are they in..jpg, psd, other?
    With regard to what you wrote:
    Also how do I transport them from Elements to Premier, it has a tab to do that but when I get to the elements file I don't know where to drag and drop into.
    If you are in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor and use the Output option Edit with Premiere Elements, then you would expect the automatic transfer of the slideshow to Premiere Elements, with a copy in video format (.psess) in the project media as well as on the Timeline. Nothing for you to drag and drop.
    For all those reasons, I am asking for clarification.
    Thanks.
