Creating CVS Branches in JDeveloper 10.1.3

Hi all:
How can I create a new CVS Branch using JDeveloper 10.1.3?
Thanks for any help.
Juan Fernando Higuita.

Right now there is no built in function for creating a branch - you'll need to do it from outside JDeveloper. (or add the command line as "external tool" to JDeveloper).

  • CVS branching  in JDeveloper Studio Edition Version?

    Hi there,
    how can i create a CVS-Branch for a project that is in CVS ? I use JDeveloper Release version(Studio Edition Version). There is a "tag" section which gives tag to the project, but i think this does not mean that we can branch. Is there another way to create branch?

    JDeveloper can do almost all the features of CVS with the embedded CVS Versioning plug-in except branching capability. You can see the activities for CVS with JDeveloper from the internal documentation of JDeveloper which is great to learn the details of CVS and JDeveloper. Just click the "Table Of Contents" from "Help" menu and search for "cvs' and read the tutorials.

  • CVS Branching in 10.1.3Studio

    I have been attempting to determine how to do branches in CVS using JDev10.1.3Studio but can find no references to this in the help, or anywhere else in JDev?
    The JDev CVS help references The CVS manual and suggests to read this manual which, in CH 6, discusses 'Branching and merging'.
    So my question is how do I do CVS branching in JDev10.1.3Studio.
    THANKS - Ken Cooper
    Please respond to [email protected]

    Ken,
    A couple of days ago there was a thread (CVS branching in JDeveloper Studio Edition Version?) that indicates JDev does not currently support branching, and that you must use an external client to create branches as of now.

  • Using CVS Branches in JDev

    I was wondering how many people have been using the cvs branch tags with JDev. We are using JDev 9.0.5.1 with CVSNT.
    I imagine that the life cycle of creating and managing a brach would be:
    -Create a branch by assigning a branch tag (Versioning->Sticky->Tag, Make Branch Tag Option)
    -Then as changes are made commit them, set the option on the common options tab of 'Use Revision Number or Tag' giving the tag name
    -Then when it is time to merge the branch, commit the files on the branch with out setting the 'Use Revision Number or Tag' option
    Then I would guess if you wanted to get the updates from a brach you would use join with Branch option to get the changes. Let me know if this is correct, I have been able to find bit's and pieces in the help, but not guidelines for how to do this.
    Also we have found 2 CVS related bugs.
    1 - if you open a CVS controlled file in the main editor window. Then right click in the editor window and select 'Compare With->Other Revision...'. A JDev error window comes up with just '0'. In the details is:
    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0
         at oracle.jdevimpl.vcs.cvs.op.CVSOperationDiffAgainst.showDialog(CVSOperationDiffAgainst.java:148)

    2 - I see that in 10G you have made it so that if you chose 'File->Rename' that CVS will also handle this change. We use the 'Tools->Refactor->Move Class' frequently which does not seem to take CVS in account at all.
    Thanks,
    -Andy

    Hi Andy,
    I'll go through the two problems you found first.
    1. Hands up, thats a bug logged as bug 3681203 which can be tracked via metalink
    2. This is not actually a bug, although it might seem like one, File -> Rename is a less complex action than Tools -> Refactor -> Move Class and applies to all types of file e.g. project files
    For the next release we are overhauling the refactoring support and this will be integrated with JDevs CVS support.
    As for working with branches, I've not used CVS in this way in a team environment but what you have looks pretty good. I'll investigate and post back here when I have something more conclusive.
    Thanks for the feedback,

  • I am not able to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g

    I tried to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g and not finding.
    3.3.1 How to Create an ESB Project
    After you have created an application, create the ESB project that will contain the ESB services using Oracle JDeveloper ESB Designer.
    To create an ESB project:
    In the Applications Navigator, right-click the application to which you want to add a project and then choose New Project.
    The New Gallery opens.
    Select ESB Project under General Projects, and then click OK.

    Here is what i see in Jdeveloper help.
    Comment: Questions on ESB configuration with demo, or specific steps to recreate ESB components of the demo, are described in the SOA Quick Start or Tutorial. ESB info in this guide is more of an overview of the process. Note that ESB is installed with SOA suite and that ESB does not need separate configurations and uses connections defined for the SOA demo

  • How to create Application Workspace with Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.2?

    Following the instructions in "Developing and Using ADF Faces Skins", I am trying to create an Application Workspace.
    The instruction says: "In JDeveloper, create a new Application workspace and name it - ADFFaces_skin_sample"
    I can not find the way to create Application workspace with Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.2.
    Because when I click FILE==>New I got "New Gallery--Application" in left, in right only got "Application, Empty project, File, Java Class, Java Interface". There is no "workspace" item.
    I try to use Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.1, got same result.
    I found other ADF Skin training samples. All of them asked to create Application Workspace. But the Jdeveloper version used by all those samples were earlier than 10g 10.1.3.2
    Please let know how to create "Application Workspace"?

    What used to be "Application Workspace" in 10.1.2 is "Application" in 10.1.3.2

  • Create a branching quiz

    How do you create a branching quiz using the quiz slides?
    I tried to use variables (e.g. userChoice, totalScore). I added action to assign userChoice to a number based on the choice. Then I executed adavanced actions in quiz propertiies with if the right answer is chosen, jump to a different slide + add 1 to the totalScore. else, it goes to a different quiz slide.
    It is stuck in the slide without advancing to the right slide.
    Any reason why it does not work?
    Thanks,

    Lilybiri, Thank you for the quick response. I put the screen capture while reading your blog now. This is the first time I'm trying to use quiz in Captivate so I'm not familiar with some of the terms.
    > But I'm wondering if you are using default Question slides or  custom question slides, because you talk about storing in user varaibles. Could you try to explain exactly what you are using and what you want to achieve, more specifically if you want to report the score to a LMS or not?
    I'm trying to create is a template for soft skill simulations. Maybe a video playback of a situation and ask the learn what to do next. The user clicks on a choice. It provides feedback (or not) and goes to a slide based on the user choice. I would evaluate using the variable totalScore and choice user made in each step. At the end, I would pass that data to Lectora.
    I inserted a question slide, edited, and duplicated for multiple questions as different steps for the simulation. The Quiz result page is at the end. Does that count as within quiz scope?
    > The screenshot of the action popped up while I was answering. What is the action Else:
    I have it jump to slide of a different slide for the less favorable choices.
    Thanks for the info on cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice. I just tried but this system variable is not on the list in the pull-down menu. It only has: cpComndShowPlaybar, cpCmndMute, cpLockTOC, and user variables.

  • No option to create new workspace in JDeveloper; turning BPEL Designer "on"

    I'm trying to do some BPEL work on Linux, using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.
    A couple of issues:
    1) although the BPEL Designer shows up as a component in the "About", and BPEL Process Modeler shows up as a loaded extension in the same place, BPEL Process Project is a grayed-out option in New Projects. This may simply be due to the fact that BPEL Designer apparently needs to be turned "on", and I've yet to figure out how to do that on Linux (since the documentation is mostly for Windows).
    So if this problem is solved by turning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer "on", I sure wouldn't mind knowing how to do it on Linux. It's easy enough to start the BPEL Process Manager - I have that running right now - but I see no shell script anywhere in the SOA Suite installation that remotely looks like it might start BPEL Designer.
    2) Many of the tutorials say that one should create a workspace in JDeveloper. According to them this is available as an option under File > New. Well, in Linux JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4 it's not available at all. It doesn't even exist as a disabled option. I find this curious, and somewhat disturbing.
    Any ideas as to why something so central doesn't show up?
    Regards,
    Arved

    OK, good to know, John. Eventually a person figures it out one way or the other. I realize all of this stuff exists in documentation someplace, but there's only so many hours in the day. And if you're using JDeveloper 10.1.3, with JDeveloper 11 already available, you don't necessarily expect a lot of the articles you run across to be so old that they still refer to workspaces. I'm not saying that these are necessarily Oracle articles.
    As an aside I've found Oracle documentation to be pretty good. I use Oracle software on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. For ESB and BPEL on Linux the main problem with the docs is that they are incomplete. It's disconcerting to see continual references to having to turn BPEL Designer on, in Windows, and have no instructions concerning that for Linux, as one example. As it happens, doing a "startall" for opmnctl does everything I need, so if there's a separate BPEL Designer started up by that (as opposed to the BPEL Process Manager) I guess that's where it gets fired up. That may also be covered in documentation someplace, for Linux, but I haven't found it.

  • How to Create multiple Branches

    Hi
    I want to create multiple Branches 5no's. How to do it.
    Then whether it is possible to create seperate bp's , employee's for Branches..in one Company Database Itself..
    Finally i want to track all my Profit/Loss and Balance Sheets by  branches levels.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    You can configure B1 with multiple branches.  Use ware house to each branch.
    Use segmentation account and define the COA as user COA instead standard COA template.
    You will able to see the P&L segmentation wise branchwise, and consolidated.
    Hope this will help you.
    Pl. revert back for further clarifications.

  • Creating a portlet with JDeveloper

    Does anyone know of any documentation to help me create a portlet in JDeveloper 9.0.2.7.97 for deployment in production Oracle Portal 9.0.2.0.1 (I am assuming a OC4J of 9.0.2). All of the documentation that I find is IDE independent, but I need to know the right directory structure for JDeveloper. Thanks, Scott

    Chapter 5 in the Oracle Application Server Portal Developer's Guide [PDF] covers portlet creation in JDeveloper:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/DOCTEAM/902DOC/904_DOC_BUILDING_PORTLETS/B13922_01.PDF
    You can download container and plugin from WSRP and JSR 168 Standards page on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/standards.html
    Note that the addin for jdev 9.0.5.x covers both JSR168 and JPDK portlets.
    You don't have to download the JSR168 container if you just want to build JPDK portlets.

  • CcBPM - When we need to create Deadline branch?

    Dear All.
           Reffering to ccBPM - When we need to create Deadline branch? Thank you in advance.
    Cheers
    Yinglak

    Hi,
    Deadlines are used to end the corresponding open steps and proceed with either triggering an alert, throwing an exception or just continuing to the next step, depending on your needs. You define the maximum time given to a specific step to be executed in your process by using deadlines.
    From SAP Help:
    A deadline specifies the last point in time that the block can be executed. You can define a deadline as follows:
    ●      The point in time when the step or process is generated
    ●      An arbitrary point in time that you specify as an expression
    You define how you want the process to react if the deadline is exceeded in a separate branch. In this branch you can trigger an alert for Alert Management by using a control step, for example. The branch has read and write-to access to all data within the block.
    To define a deadline, call the context menu for that particular block.
    The system checks the deadline at runtime. If the deadline has been exceeded, the processing branch is executed for the deadline. The steps in the remaining processing branches in the block are not affected by this. In particular, note that these steps within a block are not automatically completed.

  • Branches in Jdeveloper???

    hello! I'm using JDeveloper with subversion, I want to create branches of a project. I read about a branches dialog which I cant find. I know there's a command, but I would like to work just in JDeveloper.
    Do I need to update subversion or jdeveloper or collabnet to get it? I could use some help with tags too ;)
    I have jdeveloper 10.1.3, svn 1.5.6 collabnet 1.6.1.2
    Edited by: user1764541 on 28/05/2009 08:35 AM

    Thanks!
    I've tryed jdev 11g and it works fine, also its easier to integrate svn, but it needs 2gb and other requirements that doesnt meet the ones on our developer's computers.... I was wondering if there's svn support on JDev 9.0.5.16.27? (they've already tried cvs and didn't like it) I've been looking for some information about it, but I couldn't find anything. Could anyone help me with some urls?
    In case there's no support, I also need to know if there's a lot of difference between jdev 9.0.5 and 10g in case we decide to migrate to this version.
    Thanks in advance, have a nice day!

  • CVS Integration with JDeveloper 10.1.2

    I have upgraded to JDeveloper 10.1.2 from the previous version and CVS integration appears to be partially broken.
    All my source files are checked in and I can confirm this with WinCVS which allows me to 'cvs edit' my source for update. In JDeveloper however the 'Edit' option is grayed out and I cannot edit the file as it is read only. All the source icons have a * symbol against them.
    CVS integration worked OK in the previous version and the only environment change is the upgrade to JDeveloper 10.1.2
    I wondered if anyone else had experienced any similar problems.
    Thanks,
    Kim

    We have also experienced this problem. The pattern seems to stem from a Module Checkout (We use the connections tab to a remote pserver repository).
    Expanding a project will mark all files with the * (modified) symbol. Even though we only just checked out the module.
    If we try and Update (or Update with deletion) the item remains on the uncommitted files list, however the background cvs command worked without error (at this point there is no way of removing files from the uncommitted file list).
    Additionally if we use ANT and create a new task like follows;
    <target name="CVS fake update MyProject quiet">
    <cvs command="-n update -R"
    cvsRoot="${cvsroot}"
    package="MyProject"
    />
    </target>
    Then this reports all workfiles up to date with the repository (i.e. only a problem in what JDeveloper thinks is uncommited).
    What I have noticed....
    When the Module Checkout works I noticed the file named JDev under the CVS working folder looks as follows;
    #Fri Apr 01 06:33:52 GMT 2005
    universal_time_calibration=0
    When it fails the content looks like this;
    #Fri Apr 15 06:33:52 GMT 2005
    universal_time_calibration=-3600000
    (I suspect at some point it is getting this offset from my Windows settings - Australia GMT + 10hrs).
    By fail I mean
    Hope this information is of use to someone at Oracle.

    Hi,
    You cannot connect to an Oracle9iAS environment directly using the connections node. You can only connect to an individual OC4J instance using this technique.
    You need to use Oracle9iAS Distributed Management Configuration (DCM). See JDeveloper Help under Creating Application Server Connections
