Creating Directory Shortcuts

I need to create directory shortcuts as part of as CFM
business management application that I am working on. Can this be
done with ColdFusion? It doesn't look like CFFILE has an option for
this.
Thanks.

A shortcut is just a file. So provided you can track down
what the file
format for it is, you can write one with <cffile>.
Although why do you want to create directory shortcuts on
your CF server,
though? Seems quite a strange thing to want to do.

  • Creating manual shortcuts

    We have the good fortune of working in a locked down desktop
    environment, so we will be distributing the shortcut and icon for
    our Web Start application to all user machines on a scheduled
    internal "Bus". My questions are, for those that have created or
    pre-distributed shortcuts to their Web Start apps before:
    1) Do you explicitly reference the javaws executable is in your
    shortcut properties, as in:
    %ProgramFiles%\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\javaws\javaws.exe URLor do you simply list the URL, and leave it up to your browser to
    figure out what application to launch it with?
    2) I was thinking of generating the contents of my JNLP file using a
    Servlet. If I were to do that, does the URL that I use in my
    shortcut have to end in .jnlp if I only reference a URL (and not the
    javaws executable) in the shortcut?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    The best way to use create the shortcut on windows is to point to the javaws.exe in the windows directory.
    (on my XP this is in "C:\Windows\system32\javaws.exe") , or beter yet just use "javaws.exe" and let system find it in the path.
    That way if the version of javaws is updated, it will still point to the newest one.
    Secondly, if you just point to a jnlp file, the default browser may be launched, so it's beter to point the shortcut to "javaws http://www.mycompany.com/myapp.jnlp"
    Third, using second form you could point to servlet or jsp with args:
    "javaws.exe http://www.mycompany.com/myapp.jsp?session=none user=none"

    Do you get this error when clicking on "Generate Preview" button when configuring source distribution properties?
    Under "Distribution Settings" category, could you try checking the

    Also I suggest Mass Compiling your VIs (Tools -> Advanced -> Mass Compile) before creating a source distribution.

  • Office 2013 - Creating desktop shortcuts using OCT

    I need to create desktop shortcuts using the Office Customization Tool. But how does one do this when they have both 32 and 64 bit machines in the environment? The "Start In" path below is obviously going to be different when dealing with
    32 and 64 bit OS machines (c:\program files vs c:\program files(x86))
    I'm following these directions but they look to be specific to a 64 bit machine: http://mystang69.blogspot.com/2013/08/office-customisation-tool-2013-adding.html

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179097.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396#Configure_shortcuts
    Start in
    Enter a path to specify the default starting folder for the application. If you leave this box blank, the default folder is set to the folder where the destination file resides. If the path is not valid on a user's
    computer, the user sees an error message when the user tries to use the shortcut.
    Do you need to set a start in location?

  • Creating a shortcut of an application on the desktop

    Hi,
    I've just purchased an ibook G4 running on Mac OS X (10.4.8) from apple and wanted to know how can I create application shortcuts on my desktop? Since I'm familar with Windows and Unix, I'm finding a mac a bit of a mission!
    Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to discussions apple freak,
    You can do what Gnarlodious suggested, and it will work perfectly fine, But you should try out the dock. At default it is located at bottom of the screen (though it can be moved to either side), you can put applications there, folders, and basically anything that it will let you drag onto it. You do not need to create a short cut, or alias (basically the same thing). To place something on your dock simply drag it's icon, and let it drop on the dock. You can also set the dock to hide when your mouse is not over it, and to magnify when you mouse is over it. This is also where documents that are minimized are stored until you open them again. You may already know all (or some) of this, but if you haven't yet tried working with the dock I suggest you try it.

  • Creating a Shortcut on a Mac Desktop

    Hi everyone. I'm sure this has a very simple answer, but me being a newbie to using a
    Mac computer, I need some help.  I've set up a server for my home network with a
    Static IP of 192.168.2.10 .
    It was simple to create shortcuts for my computer and my sister's, because I've used
    Microsoft since it was DOS, and my sister's is Windows XP.  I simply created a shortcut
    and then typed in the network address, it being "\\192.168.2.10\Music" in Windows.
    But my mom has a Mac, and I need to create an alias (I think it's called) that would lead
    to the server from it.  I've searched all through the internet, and all I can find is something
    to the effect of this:
    1. Launch your Finder and look for the program that you want to create the alias for.
    2. Highlight this file and select "Make Alias".
    3. Drag the Alias to the desktop.
    My problem is that there is not an icon displayed that links to the server.
    Is there some kind of Properties box where I can manually enter the network path?

    Hi,
    First off, putting stuff (links/aliases, files, folders) on a Mac Desktop is not good practice, because it leads to some extra work on the CPU, since the Desktop is a folder like others, OS X will index all its content every time your Mom starts her Mac.
    This said, the best way to make an alias easy to use is to place it in the Dock via drag-n-drop, not on the Desktop. If placed in the Dock, your alias will always be within reach. All you have to do is locate the server folder you want to share in the Finder, and drag it to rightmost part of the Dock, where there are already some folders such as Applications, Documents, Downloads, etc...
    Alternately, you can also create a new Shared item in the left pane of your main Finder window. In the Finder preferences, you can also choose to show all connected servers on the Desktop, which can come in handy too.
    You may have to restart the Finder (or reboot the Mac, or just log out and back in) for the latter to take effect.
    Oh, I almost forgot: you can also copy and paste the folder in question in the Desktop folder (left pane in the Finder main window), and it'll appear on the Desktop itself.

  • View for "create directory"

    Hi
    Is there a dictonary view where i can find all the "virtual directory" which are created with the "create directory" command ??
    Thanks.

    ah.. :)
    So I should add, that in general those view names are "plurals" (ending with an S), e.g. dba | all | user _ objects, tables, tab_columns, indexes, synonyms, triggers, sequences, users, and so on.
    (And the v$ dynamic/stats view names are often in singular, like v$metric, process, session, datafile, tablespace - but this "rule" seem to be deteriorating with new views added).

  • How can I create a shortcut to launch an external application?

    Hello, I'm developing app in Swing where I want to create a shortcut for any external application, I'm able to get the .exe path, and an icon path (in .png format), is there a way to create a "shortcut" or button and assign the icon and the .exe path to run it? This is what I have to get the .exe path:
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"" + jTextField2.getText() + "\"");
    Where jTextField takes the value from a JFileChooser value, doing the same for the icon, then I could do this for a button to assign the icon:
    ImageIcon img1 = new ImageIcon("C:\\image.png");
    jButton7.setSize(64, 64);
    jButton7.setIcon(img1);
    But I havent' found any way to make the button (or any kind of shortcut) to execute the program, I could go and create a method to do it on click or ActionPerformed, but the idea is to do all this when I finish the create the shortcut, I hope you can understand me, I'm kinda confused, so far, I can launch the app but I want to create a new button/shortcut everytime I need to add an external app, thanks in advanced!!!

  • How can I create a shortcut to a tools menu option?

    I use the clone stamp and the brush tool regularly. Each of these tools provides a Mode: dropdown list to select from in their menu bar.
    The drop down options I use most frequently are Lighten and Darken. I would like to create short cuts to Lighten and Darken, such as Ctrl+Shift+L (Lighten) and Ctrl+Shift+D (Darken).
    The tools panel menu bar does not appear to have a selection list in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box.
    How do I create these shortcuts.
    Thank you in advance,
    Jim

    They are already there.  The same shortcuts that affect layer blend modes when other tools are selected, do exactly the same thing when the Brush; Clone, Healing Brush, Blur, Sharpen and Smudge tools are selected.  (I forgot the gradient tool)
    So with the Move tool or a Marquee selected
    Shift Alt + scrolls down through the selected blend modes
    Shift Alt - scrolls up through the selected blend modes
    Your can go directly to specific Blend modes with first letters
    Shift Alt n = Normal
    Shift Alt m = Multiply
    Shift Alt s = Screen
    Now select the brush, or one of the tools that have blend modes, and the same keys will do the same job for that tool's blend mode.

  • How to create a shortcut for all users in Win 7 and Win 8?

    Hi,
    I'll trying to make a script that will create a shortcut in every user profile account in a computer. I stumble upon the script below from
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Create-shortcut-in-your-11cfd3de/view/Discussions#content.
    Option Explicit
    On Error Resume Next
    Dim objShell
    Dim objDesktop
    Dim  objLink
    Dim strAppPath
    Dim strWorkDir
    Dim strIconPath
    strWorkDir ="C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15"
    strAppPath = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\ORGCHART.EXE"  'you have to use your URL to Interanet site or path to specific program
    'strIconPath = "\\server\Xyz.ico"     'specify the path to the icon please change to your valid path
    Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    'objDesktop = objShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop")
    Set objLink = objShell.CreateShortcut("C:\Users\%userprofile%\Desktop\Org_chart_test.lnk") 'change here To your shortcut name
    objLink.Description = "this is a test" 'replaec with your description
    'objLink.IconLocation = strIconPath
    objLink.TargetPath = strAppPath
    objLink.WindowStyle = 3
    objLink.WorkingDirectory = strWorkDir
    objLink.Save
    I did some modifications to cater to my need. Now the question is, how can I make the script create a shortcut for every user profile from the script above?
    Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    You could create the shortcut at one machine, then copy it to the target as part of the logon script. Note also that this line contains an error:
    "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Desktop\Org_chart_test.lnk"
    It should read:
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\Org_chart_test.lnk"

If not, you can always use another distinct name for this directory object .
