Creating jar of database connectivity application

Hi,
I have created a project in eclipse 3.3 using WindowBuilder - > SwingDesigner . i have to save data in Mysql server . It is wroking fine in eclipse , my problem is this i want to run this project in some other system where only jre is installed and database is installed , for that i have created a executable jar file ,this jar file is working and showing me swing view but when i fill all the fields and click on save button my data is not saved in mysql database.
i dnt no how to create a jar which can save my data to database, or please tell me if there is any other way to run this project in another system , can i create itz exe file.
Any help is appreciated

It is possible to package the jdbc driver in the jar itself. Google for that. It requires a manifest entry and a suitable build of the jar of course.

Create a new database connection

i have created a database (using access) and defined a system DSN through control panel.
I want to create a persistent unit but i can't defined the data source because when i'm trying to create a new database connection i'm getting the error-
"Unable to obtain schema There is insufficient information to establish a connection to obtain list of schemas. Check database URL, user and password. Driver message:[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Optional feature not implemented"

Error creating a secondary database connection

I just did a kernel upgrade of our ECC 6.0 EHP4 from 701_REL PL150 to 721_EXT PL201 and now when I try to access the content server database (MaxDB) from the transaction DB13 I have the following error:
"Set up of a secondary connection to the database system failed. It is possible that the data required for setting up the connection via EXEC SQL                (Native SQL) is faulty.
No shared library found for the database with ID SDB_SBX
Documentation for system log message BY G :
As well as the standard connection, an attempt was made to set up
another database connection, under the specified ID. The Shared Lib
for this second database could not be found.
The Shared Library is usually found in the the Executable
directory (profile parameter DIR_LIBRARY) under the name dbs
<dbs>slib<os_ext>. <dbs> stands for the database type and <os_ext>
stands for the operating system-specific extension of the Shared
Libraries.
The database type is determined from the entry that corresponds to
specified DB ID in the table DBDCON. Check whether the data in this
entry is correct."
The ECC 6.0 EHP4 is installed on MS-SQL database.
The content server:
- database MaxDB
- Version 7.8.02.23
- instance type : OLTP
- kernel 7.8.02 build 023-121-242-871
I have read the following notes: 1222907, 1610716, 1716826, 1553465, 1713986, 1028690, 1581595, 1025361, 1097997, 1517379.
Before the ECC kernel upgrade I had no problem to connect to the MaxDB database with the transaction DB13.
ECC instance is OK - I have no problem accessing the MS-SQL database.

Issue in creating Database Connection to HFM Application through workspace

Hi,
This is a fresh installation. We are trying to create a new database connection in workspace for HFM Application.
When i click on the Application selection icon, it gives me the below error message,
*"Error connecting to database connection nasbyphyp03: Error: Error getting CSS support information for driver* HsvAdmDriver*".*
I tried re-installing the HsvAdmDriver, but still the problem persists. (nasbyphyp03 is the server name)
But, i am able to access HFM Application from workspace and smartview.
Please advice.

I need to create a new database connection for coldfusion mx
7 on winblows 2003 but coldfusion administrator is broken. Is there
any way to create a new JDBC connection without it? Perhaps some
registry or ini file editing? How about for ODBC?

You can code a template to create a datasource using the
adminAPI. The examples do just that. View the MSSQL example on this

However, you might just want to fix you CFAdmin. Got to a
working CFMX7 server of the same version. Zip up all of CFIDE
(usually under wwwroot of cfusion or your docroot). Delete the

Not Possible Create Database Connection to Essbase From Web Analysis Studio

Hello
It is not possible to create a database connection to Essbase cluster from Web Analysis (WA) Studio. The following error message is displayed:
"Unable to retrieve the list of available databases"
And the detail:
[1033] Native: 1003 Error: Create connection failed [For input string:
[ApsServer=, OlapServer=[HOST];]]
Foundation Services, Agent, Financial Reporting and Web Analysis are enabled.
As additional information from EAS can seamlessly connect to Essbase server.
The EPM version is 11.1.2.2

Hi ,
For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .

JApplet + database connection

hey all...
i'm double posting here a little but i posted this in JApplet forum and i got no answer )):
hey all!!
i'm fairly new to java.... what i'm trying to do is a application build into a web page. java applet, i've been doing it for a while and everything is ok. have had some problems alogn the way but he java API is a great resource and i have worked out pretty much everything i needed so far. i have forms in the applet and different kinds of tables with updatable values. i source most of the values straight from mysql database and it is all good.... well not really... i've been running the applet on my desktop and it is all good but today i tried to run it from a different computer via apache server and then i find out that i can NOT connect to the database ))): then i realized that java applets run in the browser so i understand why not. simply because everything that the applet is supposed to find (different classes) are not there. actually it can see the objects since my gui is spead over a few custom build packages. since it brings the gui up then i has to access the objects ok but connection to database is not existent??? i have also read on the internet that applet should be able to connect to its source (my desktop in this case) but it didn't say how to do that.
could anybody point me to the right direction??? advice or a tutorial would be appreciated

thanks for your reply!!! well i have already solved it (i think at least).
actually i do connect to 'application server'... sort of. we have to implement 3-tier architecture. so one tier for database and its connection one for sql queries and one for front-end. since my resources are limited i have got all this running on a single computer like this
(object) gui -> connects to -> (object) sql queries -> conncets to -> singleton connection object. -> connect to mysql
what i needed to do to get it work is this
1. step one in data layer (1 st tier) in JavaDetails.java which gives me my login credentials
private String url = "jdbc:mysql://10.10.10.4:3306/sumtec"; //change 127.0.0.1 to an actual ip addr
2. step two
comment out bind-address in my.cnf
3. step three
add user, which credetials i connect with, to mysql.user table and give him password
i have used '%' for host so this user can connect from anywhere on my home network or anywhere in the world in fact
4. step four
restart mysql
and that's about it... i feel that this is not the best thing to do. creating applets with database connection is just no the right thing to do, but i didn't know at the time i have decided on this design and now i have quite a bit done so i have to finish it.
i use this project just to practice java anyway so i think it will be helpful... to me at least ((:

Manual database connection

Hello!
How can I manualy (not using wizard) create a database connection and than use Business components?
My application login is like that:
I send username and password to one database and it gives me back host name and SID for the second database where all the tables and views that I need are.
So, how can I create that second database connection in code (java) and generate business components not using BC4J wizard who needs database connection made with database connection wizard?

JDev TP4 - Test Database Connection without password

Hi,
I create a new database connection for an application,
if I specify that password is not saved and press Test Connection button with an empty password, the "connection information" dialog for username and password is displayed behind the "connecting" dialog. It is not possible to switch to "connection information" dialog.
Although there is a Cancel button on the "connecting" dialog, it is also not possible to press it. To close JDeveloper, it is killed from Task Manager.
If Save Password on the create database connection is checked and an empty password is given pressing Test Connection button, "Test failed: Password cannot be null or empty" error message is given.
Without testing the connection, I can save the connection in both situations.

New database connection failed with oepe

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse Installation Guide says:
"You can install OEPE using any of the following ways:

Did I miss something?

The documentation is out of date. The unzip to dropins method is no longer supported. The OEPE zip you downloaded is actually an archived repository. You can follow the instruction for installing using Eclipse Update Manager and point to the downloaded zip instead of the online repository.
I will follow up to get the docs updated.

Add a ZipEntry for each entry in the jar file.
To read jar files use the class JarInputStream and get all JarEntry.
It should be straight forward.

Problem in Setting up database connection

When i try to create a new database connection on jdeveloper 9.0.3 and click on test connections i get this error:ORA-28030: Server encountered problems accessing LDAP directory service. Can anyone help me out of this problem.
Infact i copied a dbc file from the server and pasted it in the local directory dbc_files/secure/.

seems that your database is configured to perform Enterprise User Security (EUS) for which it needs to access LDAP. Check with your DB administrator if this is the case

Dbxplorer dialog won't allow me to enter database connection name

I'm trying to create a new database connection with dbxplorer. It pops up a dialog asking for the database connection name, but it won't accept any text input. I can't get any further without the ability to enter a name in this dialog.
This is an existing project that was not created with any Workshop wizzards. I would still think that I could use dbxplorer on an existing project.
Is there a way to make this work or a patch for this?

We are actively working this issue and hope it will be resolved in our next release targeted for this summer.
We are evaluating some workarounds, but there were some changes in the JDK that prompted this, and we are still assessing to see if related to jvm regression, api change, or a bug.
Please use the older JDK as a workaround as an interim solution
