Creating New Bookmark Programmatically in Acrobat v9

I want to programmatically create new bookmarks in Acrobat v9.
For v7 the code I'm using is app.MenuItemExecute({cName:"Split Bookmarks",cParent:"Edit",cExec:"brk(this.bookmarkRoot);",nPos:1}).
What has this been updated to in v9?
Thank you.

Sorry, I sent the wrong line of code.
Has this command been updated for v9:
app.execMenuItem("NewBookmark")
When I run the below code Acrobat says there is an internal error.
I'm assuming the issue is "app.execMenuItem("NewBookmark")".
function brk(splitbm)
// * is the authors choice for the split character, you may change it
if (splitbm.name.indexOf('*') != -1)
split(splitbm);
//split if the bookmark name has the ^ charater
if (splitbm.children != null)
for (var i=0;i< splitbm.children.length;i++)
newbrk(splitbm.children[i]);
// split all the children bookmarks of mybm
function split(bm)
var bmname=bm.name;
var splitat=bmname.indexOf('*');
// The user can change the * , remember to change the previous function as well
var topname=bmname.substring(0,splitat);
var botname=bmname.substring(splitat+1,bmname.length);
var thisdoc=bm.doc;
bm.execute();
app.execMenuItem("NewBookmark");
var thisdoc=bm.doc;
var rootlen=thisdoc.bookmarkRoot.children.length;
var newbm=thisdoc.bookmarkRoot.children[rootlen-1];
newbm.name=botname;
bm.name=topname;
// make all [childbookmarks of mybm] newbm's children
if (bm.children != null)
var endpos=bm.children.length;
for(a=0;a<endpos;a++)
newbm.insertChild(bm.children[0]);
//make newbm mybm's child
bm.insertChild(newbm);
app.addMenuItem({cName:"Split Bookmarks",cParent:"Edit",cExec:"brk(this.bookmarkRoot);",nPos:1});

  • After upgrade to 6.3.4 cannot create new bookmarks by dragging nor open existing bookmark properties

    Just upgraded to 3.64. Now I cannot create new bookmarks either by dragging a URL or trying to create a new one in organize bookmarks. For existing bookmarks when I hit properties on the pop up menu all I get is a title bar that says "bookmark properties for (name of bookmark)" but I can't resize it or otherwise manipulate the title bar to access information or change the properties

    Hello Victor.
    You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
    If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • Error message appear when creating new bookmarks

    When creating new bookmarks a pop-up window appear with the following info:
    unload: [Exception..."Component retyrned failure code:0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIObserverService.removeObserver]" nsresult:"0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame:: chrome://trustchecker/content/trustchecker.js:: anonymous:: line 955" data:no]
    The bookmark is saved at the bottom of the list but it is not possible to select folder to store bookmark. How do I fix this problem?

    I believe Trust Checker is part of Zone Alarm, to test this try disabling the Zone Alarm add-ons in Firefox to see if you can then create new bookmarks.
    To disable extensions:
    Click the Tools menu and then select Add-ons . The Add-ons window appears.
    # In the Add-ons window, click the Extensions panel. The list of installed extensions appears.
    # Click the name of an extension in the list to select it.
    # Click Disable to disable the selected extension.
    # Click Restart Firefox .
    If it does turn out to be the Zone Alarm extension causing the problem, check for any updates to Zone Alarm, if none you could report the issue to them.

  • Creating new bookmark category

    I have created several bookmark categories before but I have not been able to do this in Firefox 9. eg Internet, Personal, how do you change the New Folder to a specific new Heading like Business, Private?

  • Can't create new bookmarks in safari. Lost all my existing book marks

    Lost all bookmarks, cannot create new ones.

    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
    Quit Safari.
    Select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
    A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the folder open.
    Relaunch Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Delete them all. Select
              File ▹ Import from... (or Import Bookmarks...)
    from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Arrange the bookmarks as you wish.
    If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post your results.

  • Your instructions for creating new bookmark folders do not work on my computer.

    I have followed your instructions to the letter for Making new bookmark folders. But, when I hold down the "Ctrl" key on the Mac while clicking on the folder which will contain the new folder, I do not get a "New Folder" option to select. Instead, the window defaults into the regular Google window where I would type in a word or words to search for something on the web. Therefore, no new folder window appears for me to type in the name I want to create for the folder. What am I doing wrong?

    if your Air had died from lack of power, and since then ALL remaining power drained, then you may encounter a fault at charge.
    Sounds as if you have the correct charger, but no indication of charging or any powering on.
    Contact Apple for in shop diagnosis about your incapacity to charge your Air,...and I assume also inability to power on your unit.

  • I cannot create new bookmark folders

    When I try to create a new bookmark folder, the option appears gray in my toolbox and won't let me use it. I can't seem to create new folders though I can use old ones.

    This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Create new bookmark folder

    Is it me or is it not possible to create a new folder for bookmarks?
    I can add bookmark to current folders, but no feature to add a new folder?

    In Safari. Pull up your saved bookmarks (not create a new one). When up, click edit. New Folder button will be in bottom right after that. In Edit mode of saved bookmarks you can create new folders and reassign saved bookmarks to the new folders you make (and move up and down).

  • Creating New Bookmark Folder like "Popular"

    Is there an easy way to create additional folders with bookmarked websites and have them appear at the top of the screen when working in Safari? Currently, I have the following icons at the top of my Safari screen (reading left to right):
    1) Show all bookmarks (open book icon)
    2) Show top sites
    3) Apple
    4) Google Maps
    5) News
    6) Popular
    I would like to add additional folders to the right of Popular (e.g. Home Finance, etc.).
    Thanks for any help!

    HI Bill,
    How to Manage Safari Bookmarks
    If you haven't done so, try Tabs. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences and select the Tabs tab. You can right or control click to create a new tab.

  • 3.6.13 installed and bookmarks went away, won't open backup to restore, won't import and won't create new bookmarks Thanks.

    Don't know what else I can add, except that I opened it today and my last browser session with open tabs is lost, and FF didn't recognize that fact, as it usually does.

    I can add that I have multiple bookmark files saved to my Time Machine (Mac). The only corrupted file is the one from today when all the bookmarks disappeared. However, when I try to restore any of them, Firefox says the file cannot be restored. I saved an html copy and looked the files, and they are fine.

  • My bookmarks are gone, I can not create new bookmarks, I cannot navigate using the back button

    I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.13. Yesterday, after I had been on the internet multiple times, I opened Firefox and my Booksmarks toolbar and navigation toolbar were both empty. My booksmarks don't exist when I open the Organize Bookmarks window. My history is also gone. I cannot navigate using the backbutton. I restarted Firefox and there was no change; restarted my MacBook had no effect. I searched for similar problems and tried opening Tools > Add Ons> Extensions, but there is nothing on that screen, and the 'Find updates' button can not be clicked. It is not keeping me logged into pages that I have been previously logged into, but it does remember passwords. If there are other problems, I have not encountered them yet.

    This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Create a new bookmark under an existing bookmark in the tree

    I have a script to search through a time sheet report for the pages without the string "Employee Signature" and to then create new bookmarks under the existing bookmarks in the tree.
    So far the script will execute the book marks for the pages in the time sheet report without the string "Employee Signature".
    At the last bookmark executed it will insert a new child bookmark before the following console error appears.
    this.bookmarkRoot.children[(m + 1)] is undefined
    19:Console:Exec
    TypeError: this.bookmarkRoot.children[(m + 1)] is undefined
    19:Console:Exec
    of 128
    If someone can please advise where the script is going wrong it will be very much appreciated.  The script is as follows:
    var ckWords; // word pair to test
    var bFound = false; // logical status of found words
    // loop through pages
    for (var m = 0; m < this.numPages; m++ ) {
       bFound = false; // set found flag to false
       numWords = this.getPageNumWords(m); // number of words on page
       // loop through the words on page
       for (var j = 0; j < numWords-1; j++) {
          // get word pair to test
          ckWords = this.getPageNthWord(m, j) + ' ' + this.getPageNthWord(m, j + 1); // test words
          // check to see if word pair is 'Employee Signature' string is present
          if ( ckWords == "Employee Signature") {
             bFound = true; // indicate found logical value
             break; // no need to further test for this page
          } // end Employee Signature
       } // end word loop
       // test to see if words not found
       if(bFound == false) {
            var nLastSub = this.bookmarkRoot.children[(m+1)].children.length-1;
            this.bookmarkRoot.children[m+1].children[nLastSub].execute();
    this.bookmarkRoot.children[m+1].children[nLastSub].createChild("Employee Signature Reqd", "this.pageNum = " + (m+1));
        } // end not found on page
    } // end page loop
    Thank you

    I need to place a new bookmark underneath the existing bookmarks for the pages that do not contain the words "employee signature".
    I am not sure how to refer to the existing bookmark on those pages.
    Tried to revise the script, and now all of the new bookmarks are created underneath all of the existing bookmarks for every page in a continuous loop.
    I need a new single bookmark underneath the exisiting bookmarks on the pages that do not contain the words "employee signature".
    Can you please help?

  • Folders that I had previously created and put bookmarked sites in have disappeared and Im unable to create new folders for sites I want to bookmark. I've checked the support info and it doesn't say anything about creating new subject folders?
