Creating Standby/Reporting instance

Currently we are in 11.5.8 and 8.1.7.4 database. We have two instances PROD & RPROD (the actual name is PROD but it is on different server, this instance is used for discoverer reporting purpose). RPROD is a clone of PROD with the same name but on different servers. Currently, we do cold backup of PROD and recreate RPROD from PROD nightly. Now we have a business to setup a 7*24 environment. That means we need to do a hot backup of PROD. How can I create RPROD from PROD? Should I setup RPROD as a standby database?
Then I manually restored RPROD from PROD hot backup. That means RPROD will be in READ-ONLY mode. Would it be a problem in running DISCOVERER reports on this
instance? Is there any better alternative solution than the one I am proposing above?

The replication is a method to replicate databases through specials triggers and across this method you can have both enviroments in equal condition at the same time.

Is there a way to save a previously refreshed report containing data as an instance of that report using the SDK? In other words, the report containing data would appear in the History list.
Or is scheduling the only way to create an instance?

History is only for scheduled instances, and there's no supported way of saving back an on-demand refreshed doc to a instance.

I'm looking for the way to not create a new instance of the report when we schedule a report? Is it any actions on the InfoObject object? Or is it just impossible to do?

Hi,
With regards to your query, whenever a report is scheduled an instance of it will be created.
Therefore, it is not possible to schedule a report without creating an instance.

The problem here is probably with your standby init.ora file.
When you create a standby database, the db_name parameter must NOT change. It has to match the primary database. So in your case, db_name ='PROD' and your db_unique_name='DPROD'...

Two report instances created by one recurring scheduled instance

I have one scheduled recurring report instance that looks to be creating two seperate successful completed instances when it runs daily. There is only one report file and one recurring instance but each completed instance has seperate titles. How can one be removed / deleted? Or, is there some way to id how / where the second instance is be created?

Does this error occur if you use any of the example programs that come shipped with LabVIEW? I would try opening one of the examples that write data to Word and see if those give you an error. Also, have you tried just putting down a New Report.VI and change the report type to Word? If this simple vi (that's all you need to open Word) breaks, I would check to see if there are any instances of Word still open. Check the task manager to see if any word processes are still open. There should not be a problem accessing Word 2003 from LabVIEW 7.0. If neither of these solutions work, please give some more detail about your application and we can research further. Thanks!

How to save Database Configuration setting to a Crystal Report Instance

Hello,
I'm using .net c# to create and run a schedule of a crystal report.
I'm able to connect to BOE and succesffuly create the schedule instance and pass the parameters. but it's failing to run because I'm not providing it with the Database Logon credentials.
I know there is a way to set the database confiuration on the report in CMC, but we don't want to do that so we can have a trail of who ran the report. We want to pass that through code when scheduling an instance. Can someone tell me how to do so.

How to create a report in EM from scratch level ?

The report I want to create in EM is about where the user selects a target from a drop down and it shows the CPU utilization or memory Utilization for that respective target. Is it possible to create such kind of ? If Yes, How to create the report ?

Are you sure you want to create a report for this info?
As CPU and MEM utilization changes every second, what would be the use of a report?
I assume you are aware of the fact that CPU and MEM utilization is included for instance in the Host Homepage and can also be included in Group Pages and Dashboards.

After creating many reports i found out that 90% of the coding in a report is copy paste i.e. only 10% of coding effort is required which includes

recreate the instance at standby database without password file
oradim -new -IDR standby -startmode manual recreate password file at primary database , copy the same password file from primary database to standby database,also make sure primary database started with REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=EXCLUSIVE parameter.
Check also the primary database is able to tnsping to standby database.

Generally for the connection to work you need to add something like this to the listener.ora file :

Is it possible to deploy 2 SCOM 2012 R2 reporting in a SQL server which already has SCOM reporting of a different management group but with 2 different reporting instance.

I have a typical situation in the LAB environment. Hope some one helps. I have Installed a SCOM 2012 R2 with SQL 2012 SP1 in a single server (Management group 1). I have installed another management group on another server using this SQL server for its database
so i have everything going fine.
The first management group has its reporting installed in the SQL server. For the second i created a new named instance for that. But i cannot run the SCOM setup in the SQL server (Also holding the Management group 1 MS) as 1 st reporting is already there.
When i run the setup it is asking me to repair it. I don't get the install option so i can install the reporting for management group 2 in the named instance.
Default instance is being used by the 1st management group.
Can any one figure a possibility for installing 2 SCOM reporting services for different management groups in a same SQL 2012 server please.

Thank you for the reply. So as you are aware If i need to instal reporting, i need to run the SCOM 2012 R2 setup in the SQL server and select reporting and select the
instance and then mention the management server there right. I am not getting that option there it is asking me to remove or repair the existing installation as there is already a SCOM entire setup including reporting there. As it is a lab there is no problem
in testing. I have 2 reporting instances. Any suggestions for me on how to overcome this issue and deploy the second reporting in the new named instance ?

Creating standby database from ASM production database in standard edition

Hi,
I am using oracle 10g release 2 standard edition. I recently created a database instance and wanted to create a standby database instance. After sorting out how to achieve this without managed standby and data guard I finally got it working and the shipped archive logs are applied and working well on the standby database.
Now I am thinking of re-creating my production database and using ASM for storage managment. By doing this can a standby database still be created from a primary database using ASM? I want to be sure I can before I commit to using ASM for the production instance and manually creating a standby database from that instance.
Note: I am using standard edition not enterprise edition.

Need help in creating custom reports

hello,
I am using EM 10.2.0.2 on windows 32-bit.
All EM components are installed on a single machine.
Have installed AGENT 10.1.0.5 for managing targets which are on LINUX 2.1
Please help me in getting the solution for the following queries:
(a)I need to create a custom report regarding the CAPACITY MANAGEMENT .
(b)I have some UDM defined but I am not able to use these UDM while creating custom report.
(c)Also is there any possibility that we can use views other than REPOSITORY VIEWS. What I meant was : instead of using REPOSITORY VIEWS can we use the tables of the target instances.
