Hi,
BEx Templates
These steps provide a basic and easy solution to implementing a branded look and feel to queries and workbooks in Business Explorer (BEx)
The first step is to open BEx and run a query. I would expect that the query look and feel is that of the SAP standard "Tradeshow" style as set by default. The next step is to set your desired company colours in the Excel palate. To do this. go to Tools --> Options and select the Colour tab. Here you can modify existing excel colours and change using the RGB colour model.
You are now ready to brand your workbook. Access the SAP styles, this can be done via the excel toolbar, go to Format --> Styles.
Here you will see over 40 styles to change. Some are fairly obvious, for example; SAPBEXHLevel1. This style will change the look and feel of all hierarchies at level1. others are less obvious, for example SAPBEXaggItem is what I would call the results heading.
An easy and quick way to change the styles of the workbook and see the effects straight away is to click on any cell in the query, for example click on a characteristic heading and then go to Format -->Style. You will find that the style for characteristic headings appears by default (SAPBEXchaText). This is the same with any cell in the query, its style is pre-selected when you go to Format -->Style. It is for this reason a alone that I find it easier to brand the workbook with a query already open. This being said, it is limited to how complex the query is, as its fairly likely that your query will not have every possible style, it is at this point where a bit of trial and error may come into it.
Brand of all the features from the design toolbar is also possible, for example the navigation block, drop down box and text boxes. For this reason it is worth adding a few of these to your query and changing the styles in exactly the same way as specified above. As you go about changing various styles, you will find that quite a few actually share the same style, for example characteristic headings share the same style as the filter options in the navigational block (SAPBEXchaText).
These steps above should have you branding your workbooks in know time at all. Below is an example of a simple branded workbook. Don't forget to add logos, project identifiers and help line details as appropriate.
The next step is to set your newly created branded workbook as default, so whenever you open any query it opens up with these new branded styles. Again, this only takes a a few simple steps.
1. Remove the drill down of all the columns so you are left with a couple of cells.
2. Save the workbook into a role in BEx with a logical name like "Branded Workbook Template"
3. Log out of BEx and log back in. Open the workbook you have just saved
3. Go to the global settings icon on the BEx analyzer toolbar.
4. Here you can set which workbook is set as default. Click on the "Current workbook" selection and click set as default.
This workbook has now been set as default for your user and any query that you open will appear with your branded styles. Any new workbooks that you create and save will also now save in these styles. Any existing workbooks will continue to use the styles that were in place when that workbook was created.
End users will have to follow steps 3 and 4 in order to set the branded template as default. This is very simple and can be done as part of user training.
Thanks.

  • HOW TO CREATE WORKBOOK

    HOW TO CREATE WORKBOOK?

    Hi Viswnadha,
I am quite clear what kind of workbook you are trying to create.
In B1 system, we can create the workbook click File>Export to EXCEL.
If you are referring to XLR reporter, we can create the excel workbook in XLR using the following steps.
In the Report Composer, click Generate in the toolbar and then the workbook will be generated.

  • Creating workbook with Multiple queries

    Hi All,
I have developed close to 8 queries for a report. Now I have to put them on one page and for that I need to create Workbook and transfer them.
I believe, that will get it on one page.
I have never done this, does anyone have step by step procedure to do it.
    Please provide.
    Points will be rewarded generously.

    According to BI 7.0 Version
<b>Steps of creating workbook and  to insert more than one query in a workbook.</b>
•When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
•Once you save it as a workbook  Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
•Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
•Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
•Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
•Exit design mode and you should be all set.

  • Creating workbook with more than 1 worksheet

    Hi guys,
I need to create workbook with 4 different worksheets. When the query is run, all 4 worksheet shall be filled up by 4 different company codes.
    E.g. Worksheet 1 shall have report for Co_Code = 1
         Worksheet 2 shall have report for Co_Code = 2.
Is it possible? if yes , how to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Kirk

    Hi Kirk,
As Bhanu has suggested insert the query in the four worksheets and filter them on different company codes
Worksheet 1 Filter on company code 1
Worksheet 2 Filter on company code 2 and so on
then when the user executes the workbook it will fetch the data for different company codes in different workbooks.
Just make sure that you mark the option "Refresh all the queries in the workbook" in the properties window of the workbook.
    Hope it helps.

    Thanks and regards,
    Rajeev

    Hi Joe,
We've seen this error when using express VI's inside of template VI's which are loaded using VI server. Are you doing that? If yes, then take all the express VIs that are inside the template VI and turn them into static subVIs.
I don't know if it will help in your case, but let's try it.

  • Issue to create Workbook BI7 - No roll storage space of length 1984 availab

    Hello,
I am creating a workbook in BI7 Analyzer Excel doing the following: design mode, insert analysis grid, selecting the query as data provider. However, when I click to get out of design mode or change variable values, it starts processing without asking me to fill the variable screen. It takes a ong time until an error message appears: No roll storage space of length 1984 available for OCCURS area. area.
If I go to open query and execute it, there is no problem. The issue only appears in the workbook.
Could you please suggest some solution?

SAP Gui 640 as of now is no longer supported, for BEx 7.0, its best you use the latest GUI version and its latest patch.
Below is the list that might help u get rid of this error.
    1) SAP GUI 7.10.
    2) BEx 3.x or 7.0 (or both)
    3) Patch > 12.
    4) BW Addon.
    5) BI Addon.
Install it in the same order, and make sure you restart your system (Local Machine) whenever it asks you to.

  • Discoverer creating workbook with item hierarchies that I don't want.

In Discoverer PLUS 10g (OracleBI Discoverer version 10.1.2.55.26):
I create a worbook, but when I drag item, they bring item hierarchies, but I didn't create item hierarchies.
It seems when I drag all the items for the business area it's fine, but when I drag out a item, all others items are items hierarchies after that. Next I drag the last item, afters that, all items are normal, they are not item hierarchies.
In DiscovererADMIN, we did not created item hierachies who could bring itemhierachies in a worbook.
This problem is present one spécific database, I tested the problem in a other database but didn't appear.
    Do you know whats happening?
    Thank you

    HI Rod,
My problem is that we don't have any hierarchies set up in the EUL and we see item hierarchy in workbook, it's impossible because we did create hierarchies.
I created a workbook with a Bussiness Area named person, for example. This Bussiness Area got a total of 10 items and the datatype of each item is different, we have number, varchar2 and date. When I drag all the 10 items in the worksheet, the items are not hierachies, but when I drag out a item, all the others items are hierarchies, suddenly. And when I put back the last item, all the items are not hierarchies. I already said that we didn't create hierachies for that Bussiness Area or any others Busness area in the EUL.
We don't know how we can have items hierachy in a workbook when we didn't create them in the EUL.
I hope you will understand more what I try to explain.
    Thanks for your time.
