Creative makes the worst Products E

Question

I've owned my Audigy 4 Pro for some time now and I gave up trying to get the remote working at all about a week after I first installed the A4P. I've decided to revisit this because I'd really like to get it working.
I noticed I did a custom install when originally installing the Creative Software and I did not install the Creative Entertainment Center. So, I got out the CD and installed it. Still the remote did not function at all. I even downloaded and installed the latest Entertainment Center. The default was not set to RM-500 so I switched it in the new Entertainment Center Remote Control tab. Still, the break-out box is not receiving a signal from the remote. Any time I press a remote button, there are not lights that light up or anything.
What could I possibly be doing wrong? I know the battery is installed correctly and everything is hooked up properly between the break-out box and the sound card. Perhaps it's either a faulty remote or faulty receiver in the break-out box?
I'm running Windows XP Pro.

!!! I paid way to much money on this card for ther remote to not work!

Is the battery installed properly. AND IS IT A GOOD BATTERY.
<Yes, the battery is installed correctly. I don't know if it's a good battery. If it isn't, it should be. It was brand new out of the box.
The remotes use 3v lithium batteries. There are two ways to check if they're good. Use a voltimeter, or, lick your lips and put them on the top and bottom of the battery (-/+). If you taste wierd metalness, it's good. If the battery is good, make sure it's in properly.
<FONT color=#ff3300>I don't have a voltimeter, so I tried the licking the lips thing. I didn't taste anything like metal or any tingling or anything like that. Perhaps, even though it's new, it's a bad battery?!
There's a credit card sized IR tester available in some radioshacks. Ask the clerks if you can point your remote at it. A working remote makes the card turn red.
Point ANY IR remote at the shaded IR reciever. If the LED above it blinks RED rapidly, the remote is faulty. Send it back, get a creative RMA.
If the remote is working properly, and no remote makes the red led blink, the breakout box is faulty.
<I pointed a different IR remote at the Creative Breakout box and did not get any blinking lights. Does this mean the break-out box is faulty?
