Creative Mediasource can't play Chinese so

Recently I reformatted my computer and had to reinstall Creative Mediasource. However, now it cannot play any songs with Chinese characters in their names. src="http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/o246/yunyikaren/creativemediasourceprob.jpg">The Chinese characters in the song titles cannot be viewed and are simply replaced by question marks (E.g. "?The Kila" is shown as "? The Killa" instead) and when I click on it to play, there is?a black X beside the song and it cannot be played. Only the songs with no chinese characters can be played (E.g. 06 K-O). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Mediasource fi've times but the same problem still arises.Could anyone help me with this? Thanks! Message Edited by hyperjjfan on 0-22-200706:3 PM

previous version of mediasource doesn't support unicode so you need to go to control panel and setup your computer language to support chinese for non-unicode program.
if not, just go and download mediasource 5 from creative website as that support unicode and should display chinese properly.

  • Creative MediaSource will not play certain MP3

I have a Creative Audigy 2 NX with a remote that I really want to be able to use. Programs such as GIRDER, WinLIRC, and uICE do not support the RM-500 remote control.
I can't figure out how to control the remote beyond editing and creating key files that send ASCII commands, but the problem with that is I cannot control programs that are not currently acti've. In other words, I cannot control winamp if I'm playing a game with my remote, which is what I want to do. The KEY files are structured as this:[KeyEvent690 etc]KeyName=whateveryouwantdisplayedNotification=- or 2 or 4KeyEventRemap=this is the important partHandleByApp=i don't know what this doesAnyway, if I set notification to -, I can send ASCII commands-- BUT these will not send to programs not currently on top. If I set notification to 2, as Creative did in their Winamp .x key file, I could control the program even if it is not on top-- BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE KeyEventRemaps NUMBERS SHOULD BE. I cannot find this information, and I have tested as far as I am capable of doing manually (tested numbers through 500 MANUALLY).So what I want to be able to do is use my remote to control winamp, but that is impossible. And Creative MediaSource will not play streaming audio (for God knows why...). So what I decided to do was record to an MP3 player with a third party program and play that MP3 in the Creative MediaSource software (the built-in recorder will NOT work, as I cannot structure that into a playlist nor can I play the recording media nor can I minimize the program and mute the feedback-- I can only record if I'm playing, and this doesn't work). The first problem I encountered was several programs would not output MP3s that were playable as they were being recorded, however I finally did find one. This program, 3aLab iRadio, allows the MP3 to be played back WHILE simultaneously being recorded. The only problem is that this the Creative MediaSource software will NOT play the mp3. Out of the 5 different MP3 players I tested, ONLY the Creative MediaSource software would not playback the MP3 as being written. I cannot figure this out, and I am at a loss as to what to do next. I realize that Creative won't support streaming audio with their player, MediaSource, but what I like to do is listen to streaming internet radio as an item on my mp3 playlist in winamp. I wish to be able to control this with my remote, but as I cannot find ANY WAY out there to control my remote as I wish without further information, this is a dead end. My alternati've is to use the Creative software for which the remote was designed to work, but unfortunately this does not support streaming internet radio nor does it support MP3s that are being written to. This is driving me insane.
What I want to be able to do is have a playlist that I control with my remote, with the first item on the list being internet radio, the 2nd and such on down being MP3s. In winamp, this is doable, as well as in Windows Media Player, and most MP3 players out there. Since I cannot do this in Creative's software, I need a workaround alternati've. PLEASE.
So, in conclusion, is there anyone out there who can either tell me how to control my remote directly by identifying what the notification=2 keyeventremap=configuarions are, give me a program like girder however which supports the RM-500 remote, or tell me how to get MP3s that are being written to (aka incomplete) to play in the Creative MediaSource software?
Thank you very much for your time.

  • Creative MediaSource can't seem to see audio C

Thank you in advance and I apologize if there's a solution posted somewhere that I couldn't find. I tried.
I have a Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra that I bought a year or so ago. Works great, I love it. I've always used the software that came with it, Creative MediaSource, to move songs from CDs to my computer and then to the Zen Extra.
But today I got on and Creative Mediasource seemed to have uninstalled itself. None of the shortcuts worked. So after several tries of re-installing, it seems to be back.
Except formerly, when I would have MediaSource up and put in a CD, it would immediately list Track , Track 2, etc. (and I would later use the web thing to get the names). If for some reason it didn't, I would go over to the Sources column, click on the CR-R line and then the Track , Track 2, etc would come up in the center column.
But now nothing shows up in the center column. So I can't rip the CDs to the computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the result is the same. Here's one thing I noticed: I accidentally left the installation CD in and when I click on that CD dri've, the list of folders immediately shows up in that center column. So it's seeing the dri've, and that CD, but not my audio CDs for some reason.
Can you please help? I guess from looking at this forum there are other software packages to use to rip CD and move music around, but this is the one I'm used to and it seems a waste to just toss it away and start with something else. Plus all my previously ripped music is in that PC Music Library folder.
Thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me. As you can tell, I'm not real savvy on all this and I've already wasted most of my Saturday on it.

With it were easier to do what you want but it's not.

  • Creative centrale can't play music files stored on Zen X-Fi.

<\I installed Creative Centrale, connected the player and it gets recognized alright, but for some reason I can't play the music files stored on it, is it normal? Centrale plays the files on PC just fine, but if I try to play the files on the player nothing happens. I wanted to know if this is normal and if it's not, how to fix this problem.

Anyone has any clue if this is normal or not? I find it quite odd that a creative software is unable to play music stored on creative players.

  • Creative MediaSource for PlaysForSure play

Is there any way to make MediaSource not display the file name in the organizer view? It is making it very difficult to manage music. This new setup really bites compared to the old.

Let's not forget that downgrading is not an option if you were foolish enough to upgrade to playsforsure like I was. The firmware itself does work fine for me - my problem is with the poor choice of functionality changes. Creative took away the best organizational tool it had - the grouping of artist, song and album is gone - that makes playlist creation and manual searching nearly impossible

bought creative x-fi card about 2 months ago and with it came creative mediasource player.

  • Cannot play audio CD with Creative MediaSource Pla

    Hi All,
I recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard and the Creative MediaSource Player software. I also purchased Creative 5. Analog speakers. Have everything configured pretty well now and really enjoying the enhanced sounds!
My problem is that I cannot play audio CDs using the MediaSource Player. I can see my DVD Player and CD Player in the MediaSource Player 'Source' column and a list of all the tracks on the CD. (no track info, just track numbers and length)
When I double-click on a track it cycles through all the tracks and then places an 'X' next to each one in the 'Now Playing' list window. If I have other music files from my harddri've available, it will start playing one of them.
I've tried different CDs with the same results.
I can use both the DVD and CD dri'ves to play an audio CD if I use any other player (Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.) and use both dri'ves everyday for loading software and reading files. It will also read the demo DVD Audio disk that came with the card using the DVD-Audio player they provide so I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the hardware or drivers.
I've read all the info that came with the card and on the Creative Web site and have been through every configuration screen multiple times but haven't found a switch that turns this feature on.
Would like to get this working so I can standardize on one player that allows me to use all the advanced features of my new card.
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.
    Jay Perez

A good way to see what kinds of things you might need for something like vlc is to look at the optional dependencies for the package.  So if you do pacman -Qi vlc if the package is installed on your system already, or pacman -Si vlc if not yet installed, you can see in the output what kinds of optional dependencies there are.  Typically there is a short description of the extra functionality that the optional dependency can provide as well.
So in the case of vlc (and the libcdio optional dep) I get:
    $ pacman -Qi vlc
    Name           : vlc
    <SNIP>
Optional Deps  : avahi: for service discovery using bonjour protocol [installed]
                     <SNIP SOME MORE>

  • My music does not play in Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer

? In Creative MediaSource Player my music library is listed, but when I try to play a song (on the computer- not my ZEN Micro) I get an X and it doesn't play. The music is fine on my Micro. It seems there is a problem with the software, but I don't want to have to reload all my songs again. Any suggestions?

    C? Pattym9
I see what is happening now.
Media sniffer will only find new items(those in your kids folders) and ones where the links have been
changed .i.e.items which you may have moved between files on your computer.
You have obviously deleted files from the creative software as instructed but they remain intact on
your PC. Therefore if you import them all again into the creative media source programme I guess
all will be ok.Unfortunately when you cleared items from the creative programme hopefully you did
not tick the box delete from computer as well. If you did and have not made cd/dvd backups of these files
you will have to rip cd's/download music files back onto your computer.Quite a long job for 500 songs.
Incidentally you can set media sniffer to only check the folders you want it to rather than all folders
but I won't go into that at this time unless you wish to know.
    Best Wishes

  • Creative Mediasource - Now Playing List on star

I have been using Mediasource for quite a while though and loving it. However, I have one question about the Now Playing List on startup on the program. Originally when i installed the program (i have done this a few times so i know this to be true), the Now Playing list from when i last closed down the player was saved and used by the player the next time i opened it up.
Now, mediasource is stuck on a Now Playing list i created about six months ago every time i open it, no matter what is in the now playing list when i close it. This is not a huge disadvantage as i can save playlists and open them up straight after mediasource opens but it is an issue on convenience.
I was hoping someone knew a way to set it up so the now playing list i have open is kept intact for startup on closure of mediasource. I have fiddled a bit with closing the player with different skins, with the music stopped, playing, paused and with different options enabled but to no avail.
I do however remember having this problem and then randomly one day the now playing list i had had been stored and still continues to remain at start up till this day. Though i cannot remember anything different i was doing that day. I think mediasource is toying with me :P
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Try deleting the.dat file in "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Creative\MediaSource".

  • New Creative Mediasource "Plays all your multimedia files"

    Hi,
During the installation of the new creative drivers and software, I was surprised to see that Creative MediaSource would play all my multimedia files (in French, there was a caption during installation that mentioned: "Joue tous vos fichiers multim?dias". And I thought, wow, great move from Creative, now they're finally adding ogg and other formats to the CMS software!
But I was forced to discover that it was not really true. When browsing my (50 CD's) ogg file collection, I was dissapointed to find that the player considered these directories as empty.
Even dragging an ogg file onto the player resulted in a long silence... and my speakers are turned on!
Luckily, I can still play them using other software, and my iRi'ver H-340 can also handle these, but it saddens me to see that the CMS application is not as easily extendable as other audio players.
Let's hope Ogg support will come with the X-Fi series of cards... along with the Linux Alsa modules :P

There is a way to play ogg on CMS2.
But then you've to add too much software encoded crap like ac3 and OGG acm codec.
Best way is not to use any creative player.
CreativeMediaSourceplayer=don't use it, it only plays wav/wma/mp3, no ogg aac monkeyaudio etc. Also no webstreams ..So forget CMS get FOOBAR2000.
Also don't use the creative dvd-a player, this player only supports audio, but most dvd-a do have image/video content. You'll see it on a dvd player, but not on creative DVD-A player.. And don't use codecpacks!!!!
so most creative players are crap, not professional. Bad extension mediatype support.

  • Creative MediaSource Is Playing With My H

I installed Creative MediaSource on my new computer and transferred my music to the Library. In the last couple of days things are just plain spooky. I have downloaded cuts from MSN Music, and normally the last cuts added to the library have always appeared at the bottom of the Library's list. The first time they appear, that is where you find them, but the next time you launch Mediasource, they are somewhere else. In addition, on two separate occasions I have launched Mediasource to find NO tunes at all; it is empty. Only be rebooting my computer do I get them back. Other than stepping in front of a bus, can anyone offer any advice or solutions? By the way, thanks to all on the advice with downloading the patch to have my Mediasource program recognize by CD burner. That worked like a charm!!

Are you refering to adding tracks into MediaSource's PC Music Library? The first time, the tracks at the end of the list. The next time you launched MediaSource, the tracks that you see in the organizer would have been sorted according to your preference. You can sort by Artist, Album, Genre, Title, etc. This is in fact a correct behaviour.

  • Can anyone help me with downloading Creative MediaSource in Windows Vis

I've tried over and over to download Creative MediaSource through the Windows Vista application section for the Zen Touch. It continuosly gives me this error during file extracting. Can anyone help me with this?!

    Hi
I have checked to see if there are any Windows 8-8.1 drivers available for your model machine from HP and sadly none are listed , Also even if it had been possible to get driver support for the upgrade you would have still had to pay Microsoft for the upgrade via Retail disk package or an online ISO download .
                         Kind Regards
