Crossfire Troubles
I recently got myself a 2nd HD5750 to put into Crossfire. As a disclaimer, I do have the 12.4 Catalyst drivers, crossfire works in Windows, and 3D acceleration works fine in linux.
Anyways, I've run the following commands as root:
aticonfig --cfa --adapter=0,1
aticonfig --cf on --adapter=0,1
reboot
And after rebooting, I could confirm the following using "aticonfig --lsch":
Multiple GPU chain for adapter 0, status: Crossfire is enabled
0. 01:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
1. 08:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Using "aticonfig --lscc" returns:

I am a little curious about the term "Candidate", because shouldn't the 2nd card also be a master device? Or at least an active slave?
No programs (such as the Unigine Heaven benchmark) appear to use the 2nd GPU, and if I check on "Enable CrossfireX" in the CCC and reboot, it un-checks itself.
As a side note, if I run "aticonfig --adapter=0,1 --initial", crossfire fails completely and forces dual-monitor mode.

To me, it seems that as soon as you get:
CrossFire does not support on this platform
it is pretty much game over. I wish aticonfig could be more explicit about what is the problem. Something that I have found is:

The problem is that I have an Intel platform. Does that mean that Crossfire only works if your on an AMD platform. Can someone confirm or deny that hypothesis?

I am having trouble getting crossfire to work. The computer is not recognizing that I have a crossfire setup even though catalyst is saying that crossfire is enabled. The second card does not even get warm to the touch.

Now I know that both cards work because I tried both cards in the first pci-e slot to see if that was the problem, it is not. I tried both cards in the third pci-e slot and that slot works fine. When I use both cards, and I try to put the monitor into the second card it does not work. Shouldn't this work? The second card does not even get warm either. I bought this board quite a while ago specifically for the so called good crossfire friendly use. I have been scouring the internet for options but this board just doesnt seem to be supported anymore by most places and I just happened to come across this forum. Am I just dreaming that the configuration isnt working or what?Quote
Is it just the program CPUID that is giving me wrong info or is it right and I just can't figure it out?
If AMD's own Catalyst software is telling you Crossfire is enabled and working, then the chance is that CPUID is simply wrong.

Speaker troubles with my x-fi xtreme mu
hey guys,?I had the x-fi xtreme music for a year and every time im trying to set up my speakers, I always get one speaker that doesn't work. For example, when I first purchased the inspire t7800 (or somethin like that, you know, the 7. speakers) a couple of the speakers would simply just not work. Then i would have to play around with the jacks, putting them in at wrong spots and switch around the position of the actual speakers physically so that they BECOME left rear, lear front and so forth. Whichever speaker that does not work, the sound will come out very quietly and dull from the subwooferr, so for example, in the console, when you click "rear left" the subwoofer will make a very quiet "rear left" sound. I somehow fixed it by playing around with the cables for 3 days last year with the inspire. Recently, I switched over to Klipsch promedia 5. and jesus, the troubles are back. So right now, if i have all wires correctly, the left rear speaker will not play. If I switch the green with the pink for example, then the front left will not play, and every different combination will always yield one speaker to not play. At first I thought the soundcard was bad, so i tested all three lines with a headphone. Nope, all three lines work properly. Then I tested all speakers, and they all work fine independently. Im thinking its creative's driver or software, so I downloaded the latest driver and installed the updates, and to no avail, nothing will fix this. Lost files on Crossfire external hard drive
I recently purchased the 160gb cross fire external hard drive as I have used all the space on my computer with music and pictures. I moved files my Music and Photo files from my mac hard drive to the external hard drive, but they did not show up on the external hard drive. However, they are no longer showing up on my mac hard drive either. The space on the Mac hard drive has stayed the same, so I believe the music and photo files are still on the computer, but I can't find them, even when I do a search. How can I locate these files? And how can I move them to the external hard drive?
Also, I would like to move all of my iphoto pics to the external hard drive, but they won't show up when I pull them from iphoto to the external hard drive. I have been able to move my itunes as well as some individual documents, but it did not decrease the GB on my mac hard drive. How do I move items from the mac hard drive to the external hard drive and remove it from the mac hard drive?
Lastly, does anyone know the web site for the crossfire external hard drive, so I can trouble shoot on my own?

JessicaEven if you move all your files to an external hard drive, it is strongly recommended you still keep at least two copies of your data at all times. If that means getting a second external hard drive, so be it! If that means burning to DVD or CD that which you can't afford to keep on your internal hard drive but want on your external only, that's better than relying on any one point source to be the copy of your data.
External hard drives may fail for a variety of reasons, many of whom are covered in my FAQ*:

In addition, USB hard drives may fail to mount after Energy Saver has gone off until the next system restart.

It´s my first post here so greetings all I have a question regarding MSI Z87 G43 GAMING motherboard and crossfire. I noticed, a bit too late, that the G43 does not crossfire in a x8/x8 mode! Is this a performance compromiser? I mean, I´ve noticed a great scaling in BF4 with seetings in High (no AA; with SSAO) running the game with a 3 screen display - compared with single card I went from 50-80 FPS to 70-130.
So, if I understand correctly from the board specs, I have one graphic card at x16 and the other x4?

The price is 30€ less than the G45 (110€ vs 140€) and the only visible diference is the network adapter (Realtek® RTL8111G Vs Killer E2205). Can you tell me if this is a good choice?

Hello, I am trying to set up crossfire with my new amd 6770 and onboard a8-3850, but i need to enable the onboard graphics in the bios for this to work. I am having trouble doing this due to the fact that there is no such setting in the bios for lenovo utility setup. Is there anyway to get more options in the bios and if not anyway to deal with this issue some other way.

I will say Lenovo, your support site is absolutely worthless. Your driver page has wrong drivers and confusing gibberish. I could not find the above driver on your H415 section.

Z68A-GD80 and Running Crossfire
I'd like to purchase a motherboard to match up with an i7 2600K cpu that I have and the Z68-GD80 is the board I'm leaning towards but the information on Crossfire is a little confusing at the moment. I already have a pair of MSI R6970 Lightning Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit video cards. Will one card only take advantage of the x16 speed and the second automatically default to x8 or if I understand right that both cards can be run as x16 but that shuts down some of the USB connections and some of the other slots on the board. I need at least one PCI-E 1 slot for my sound card which is a HT Omega eClaro. I've tried searching the internet on the subject but haven't come up with any solid information for this type of setup. I'll be using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version loaded on an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB drive to boot from and I have a 240GB G.SKILL Pro Series SATA II SSD for my work apps and a 750 GB WD Black edition to install my games on. I also have a USB 3.0 2TB WD external HD to back my files up on. As for RAM I have G.SKILL Ripjaws X + Turbulence II Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 time two for a total of 8GB with a pair of optical drives powered by an 850W Corsair PSU. If you need anymore info just ask.
Any information sure would be welcome so I can get this rig up and running.Thanks HU16E after doing more digging I see that just about every board with the Z68 chip-set has the same limitations. Even many of the 67's are the same way. I should be okay then since the only add in card I plan on using is my sound card and that should work just fine in a PCI-E 1 slot.
Several years ago I built a mess of AMD Athlon systems all of which were put on MSI boards and every single one of them are still running today. I had switched to another manufacturer but after my first build with them that went fine I've had nothing but trouble with them since. After some long nights reading every review I could find I decided to come back to MSI. My parents have asked me to build them an AMD based system and from what I've seen MSI boards are just as good as any other though I talked them into holding off until Bulldozer comes out.

I just bought a mini-dvi-to-video adapter so I could use my TV as a display. More specifically, so I could use my VCR to record what's on my Mac's display. I also bought a headphone-to-composite cable adapter. I'm using a double-headed (is that one male or female? It's male, isn't it?) composite cable from the video adapter to the VCR. The problem is, it doesn't show up. The sound plays (and records) fine, but the video neither shows up on the TV screen nor records onto the tape. What's the problem? Both adapters are Dynex, my computer's a Late 2006 iMac (I think), the cable is WireLogic, and both the VCR and TV are Sony. Please help, thanks.
So if you eliminate the double headed splitter and plug straight into the TV, does the video still not show up?
FYI, there have been reports in the past of trouble with the Dynex video adapter. You may need to purchase the Apple OEM one. The Dynex may lack having a ROM inside of it with a proper EDID in the ROM. This is crucial to the Mac. -
Trouble Using Apple's Video Adapter
I am having trouble getting my eMac to work with the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter. There are no directions telling you how to use it or to even get it to work. I want to use it to import videos from my Sony Hi8 camcorder and was told by Apple's Live help that this is what I needed to import video and make DVDs. How do I get this adapter to work?
Welcome aboard.
I think the adapter you have is for video output, not input. To input video to the eMac you need a firewire connection. Sony cameras typically have a 4 wire connector which is smaller than the 6 wire plug on the mac, so you need a cable that has a 4 wire connector on one end and a 6 wire connector on the other. Cameras often (but not always) come with such a cable. You also need a digital camcorder- not just Hi8., although Sony does make cameras that will do both. If you camera does not have digital output, you need a convertor box. -

I am having trouble with my MacBook Air 13 inch June 2012 MacBook Air5, 2 4GB RAM details below in Etresoft report. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and am having system trouble. My computer crashes and I have to force quit to restart. When using webmail there is a black screen for a split second between pages. This did not happen before. I am worried that it is not running properly and perhaps I need to revert to the previous operating system. I only have a MacBook Air and no need to share images between a tablet or phone so I did not need the new photo sharing software of Yosemite. I wonder if I don't have enough RAM to run it? I did not run time machine before I made the upgrade as I did not realise the significance of an upgrade as not very Mac literate. Any advice on whether my system is in danger... most appreciated! I am writing a book and making a back up but this machine is my lifeline and my work is conducted through it. It ran perfectly before... the Yosemite upgrade has perhaps highlighted some problems and it has unnerved me!

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway. -

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600. We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem. When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints. Any suggestions?
Has anyone else had issues not being able to print black (such as a document)? My photos print great, but when I try to print a simple black-ink document, it won't work. Any suggestions?

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

I have a 19 digit code that i had to scratch to get, a 30 digit number under the bar code, and a 6 digit authorization code that seems to be completely pointless. I started off putting in the 19 digit code with all my other information, but it wanted 24. so I filled in the rest with zeros. Hello! Need help! Having trouble accessing photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, I had a free trial but never registered the program because I was not using it. The other day I was taking pics off a Canon camera, & they automatically loaded into that site. I selected cancel several times, but the program did not respond. Once they completely loaded in, the program asked if I wanted to erase photos from the camera, I selected no but it started erasing them, I was able to stop it but 44 were erased off the camera. I can see the photos in the program but can not access them since I never registered. I tried to register now but received email saying that program has expired. So how do I get my photos? Please help! The photos are not mine, I was loading them from a friends camera, & they are important vacation memories to her! Thanks! Ruth
When you click on one of the thumbnails do you see a blank window where the full sized image? Or do you see this in the window:
In either case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
