Crystal off Query Builder

can you create a crystal report off this query builder statment?
SELECT SI_ID, SI_NAME, SI_Webi, SI_OWNER
FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS, CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS, CI_APPOBJECTS
Where PARENTS("SI_NAME='CrystalReport-BusinessView'","SI_NAME ='Xtreme Business View'")

Unfortunately, you can not. In fact you will not find these tables for example CI_INFOOBJECTS in the CMS database.
The reason being BusinessObjects employs a persistence framework to serialize the object model to the CMS repository (which is a database). A persistence framework is a structure that persists the object model to an underlying data source. In BusinessObjects Enterprise, the persistence framework does not encapsulate class retrieval. Therefore, you write your own persistence code to retrieve classes from the CMS repository.
Hope this helps!

  • Can I turn off Autofit for tables in Query Builder?

Using SQL Developer 3.2.20 and tabbing between the Query Builder and Worksheet always Autofits the height of the tables. Since the tables I'm using are in Enterprise Business Suite they have hundreds of rows making the graphical reprentation almost useless without resizing the table objects.
Is there any way to turn off this "feature"?
I am a new user of Query Developer and am using version 3.2.20.09.
I copied in a sql statement, clicked the query builder tab, visualized my sql statements and resized all the objects so they were viewable. Then when I click on the Worksheet tab and then click on the Query builder tab again all my objects are autofit to the height of the table and it takes about 15 minutes to size them again so I can see all the joins in the gui display - which is the point of the graphical interface.

Thank you for confirming what I suspected.
If there was a workaround that allowed under the View menu to resize all objects to fit the current window, that would be an acceptable choice. It would seem if the box can be drawn to the maximum size that shows all the columns in the table, then maybe an easy override would be draw the table showing only one column??
Do you work on the development team for SQL Developer?
Another idea would be to be able to zoom out so the resizing of objects would be easier.
Unfortunately your good suggestion of starting with Query Builder and finishing up requires more skill than I posses when working with many tables. I find it necessary to go back to the visual representation to understand all of my joins when I get many tables and then have a problem with my query. If only I could write it correct the first time.

  • Query Builder in Crystal Report Server 2008?

I am running CRS2008 V1 on Windows Server 2003 as single server install. I am using IIS as the web application server. Query Builder doesn't show up as an option anywhere I can find. How do I get to Query Builder?
How do I install Query Builder if it is not already available?
    Is Tomcat required?
Can I continue to use IIS but have Query Builder available as well?
Can I go ahead and install Tomcat without crashing my BOE installation and IIS?
How do I install Tomcat on this server?

Well I've never installed CRS 2008 so I'm not sure. If the installer allows you should be able to go to add/remnove programs and modify the install, adding tomcat/java. If that is not allowed the installer may require IIS or tomcat only and a full reinstall (I hope not).
I work with BOE 3.1 mostly and we can add/remove it with that installer.

  • Unable to load Query Builder component

    Hello,
When I try to refresh a report in Crystal Reports 10, it displays this error message:
    "Failed to load database information."
"Details: Unable to load Query Builder component."
Then, when I try to register querybuilder.dll, RegSvr32 gives this error:
"querybuilder.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found."
    Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Graham,
    Thank you for your reply.
    This is a new install.
As my PC's administrator, I tried as you suggested.  However, I am still getting this error message when I try to run an existing report:
    "Failed to load database information."
"Details: Unable to load Query Builder component."

  • Results in Query Builder Differ From Report Results

I've got a report I built in SSRS using an SSAS dataset. The problem is that the results differ between the query builder result set and the actual report. For some reason, when running the actual report, certain rows are being filtered out, but yet those
same rows appear in the result set when validating the query in the query builder.
Here's the result set as it appears in query builder:
...and here are the results of the actual report:
As you can see, 3M and Angie's popcorn are not returned in the report. I have no filters defined on the report at all.
This appears to be happening with other result sets for the same report.
No idea why the results are accurate in query builder and then off in the actual report.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    A. M. Robinson

    Hi A. M. Robinson,
The issue may be caused by the data cache. When we preview a report, the report processor runs all the queries for datasets in the report using the current parameter defaults, and saves the results as a local data cache (.rdl.data) file. We can continue
to design our report without incurring the overhead of retrieving this data again if we make no changes to either the report dataset queries or the report parameters. Please to delete the cache (.rdl.data) file try to solve the issue.

Alternative, you can create a similar report to check if the issue is persist.
If the issue is persist, could you please post more detail information about your report design?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • Query Builder in Business Object Edge 3.1

    Greeting,
When I was using Crystal Vision Server 11.5, I can use the Query Builder to get metadata for objects stored in the repository. Now we moved to BO XI Edge 3.1 with WACS. I click on the click for Query Build and the system said the link is broken. I read SAP note "1206301 - How to access the query builder in XI 3.x ", but it is only for Java / Apache server.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi Leo,
It is my understanding that Query Builder, QAAWS and Live Office are Java based, and therefore only work with Tomcat and not WACS. Unless something has changed, you will have to uninstall and reinstall BO with Tomcat in order to use those tools.
    Thanks

  • Only Query Builder can be installed in PC?

I'd like to know if only Query Builder from Form or Report Developer can be installed in PC. so I can continue to use stand alone Query Builder 6.0.7.
. and if that's possible , is there any place that I can download that? or it may well be possible to install just that component?
    Regards.
    Jung Kyoo Lee.

You can't download it separately, it part of the development environment. I think you can install it alone off of the 6i CDs though.

  • Create or find Query builder for mysql or any db

Ok. Is there a query builder tool out there that will let me create queries on the fly for an application or do I need to build it myself? This is the scenario. I have a client that is in the real estate business, and he wants users to be able to go to his site, query his (mysql)-at the moment db, and get a result set back. I could easily create some queries that would take in a paramater and query the db for it and return result back. But, he wants them to be able to be able to put in specific info. Houses in this certain region, certain number of bedrooms, houses in this price range, etc... I have done a few query statements, but never built a dynamic query tool. What are my options, and/or how would I go about this and what should I use?
    orozcom

Most query builders I have seen simply allow the user to build an SQL select statement, given a list of tables and the columns in those tables. But you do not want one of those, as the users of the site aren't going to want to write SQL. You need to write some code that takes their selections (e.g. a drop-down box with a list of region codes, a text box for number of bathrooms, whatever) and builds a query from that.
I think any package that did that sort of thing would be so complex (think Struts for example) that you are better off writing the code yourself.

  • Help with Query Builder please

    Hi,
I would like to query the system database for reports using ftp, email, and unmanaged disk as Destinations.  I am not familar with the datafields in the BOXI database nor with the Query Builder syntax or SQL type queries.  Can someone provide samples of this type of query and possibly the exact field names to be included.
I would actually like to design a Crystal report that would return this information as needed.  Something like...
Report name    Report location   Type of Destination    Actual Destination specified
Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately these properties are nested within the results you will receive if you query for any of your individual reports within Query Builder.  Try this out for reference:
    select top 1 * from ci_infoobjects
    where si_name = 'YOURREPORTNAME'
    and si_instance = 1
Nested properites cannot be included in the select clause of your query.  For the majority of nested properties such as instance destinations, you'll need to either develop script to retrieve this information or utilize a 3rd party product (System Profiler, etc) that has this information available and pre-build reports.

  • Using crystal reports query (.qry) as datasource in crystal 9

I have a problem using crystal reports query as a datasource in crystal reports 9. When Im using a report withing application i cannot change database or server property of the query.
For example - during report design im using one odbc for query but I want to change it during runtime.
Changing any options beside username or password results in external exception. Im using Builder XE as application environment.
I tried switching to SQL commands which works but i lose all the fields on report when changing from query to report.
Is there a way to make query work or to change query to sql command without losing all the fields (and putting them back on the report manually)?

    Hello,
Unfortunately .QRY files are no longer supported as of CR 9. We replaced it with the Command Object where it basically did the same thing only you had to write the query yourself.
The problem is because the Command Object can be anything CR has no way of mapping a query to the database field within the report so it auto deletes all of the fields.
The only way is to create new reports, you can open the original report in one window and then create your new report, copy the SQL into the Command windows and then copy and paste the report objects from the window with the old report into the new report window.
There is no migration wizard to do this. I have heard of others who used the RAS server or RDC to get the objects from one report and .add them to the new report. Depending on the number of reports you have depends on if it is worth the time writing that app or just rebuild all of your reports.
    Thank you
    Don

  • SQL Developer 3.0 Query Builder Issue

When compiling a query within the Query Builder I cannot execute the query - the RUN statement button is disabled. There also appears some "lagging" when building the query.
Is this a bug within the SQL Developer 3.0?
This has the potential to be an excellent tool. I am pleased that this version now gives you function to amend views.
    Edited by: user13116583 on Mar 31, 2011 2:48 PM

    Hi Marc -
With respect to the "lagging" see Re: 30EA2 - Query Builder locks up when I select the tab. on design trade offs made during the 3.0 early adopter cycle.
The run button should be enabled as soon as you type anything in the Worksheet or drag/drop anything on the Query Builder. Can you give me more detail on what you are doing/seeing?

  • How to add a new field in Query Builder or Report

    Hi,
I am writing a report using Oracle 6i query builder and report.
    example:
    QTY_1 QTY_2 QTY_3
QTY_1 and QTY_2 are table fields and QTY_3 Is not. I need to show the value of (QTY_2-QTY_1) in QTY_3.
I need to create a field QTY_3 which is not in the database table. How do I do that?

    Hi,
Try using formula to return the qty_1 - qty2.
    or
    select qty_1, qty_2, (qty_1 - qty_2) qty_3

  • CM14 BI Publisher - modifying an existing Data Model, the Graphic View in Query Builder does not display

I am trying to edit the default forms/reports that come with CM14, trying to edit the data model, data set, (to get to the old Infomaker style graphic view) , the Query model does not display (error the list of tables is too long..) Oracle tell me the limit is 60,  there are not 60 tables referenced in any CM report.
Does this Query builder view work at all on any report?
(bigger question, we are moving from CM12, should we move to CM13 which works with infomaker?)
    Thanks,
    Paul L

    Kurt, thanks for your replies.
    A couple of notes/clarifications.
    1.     You are correct that BI works better in Firefox--I have observed issues with the BI display when using IE.  I would recommend using Firefox too.
    2.     You are correct about the way to get to the Query Builder to see a graphical view of data tables.  There are basically two issues with this that I mentioned, but will re-iterate:
    a.  If you have an EXISTING query in the data set, then click the "Query Builder" button, this will remove the existing query that's there, it will NOT display the existing query in the query builder.  Query Builder works only to create a NEW query from scratch.
    b.  Query builder is limited to selecting 60 fields max in your query.  If you are creating a large report with many tables, you may find that 60 fields is not enough.  For that you will have to work in the SQL edit screen rather than using the query builder.
I would impress on anyone developing CM14 reports that they become familiar with the database schema and relationships to avoid problems when developing your BI reports.  You should be able to find the tables and joins documentation in the knowledgebase.

  • Problem of Query Builder

    Hi ,
I am using SQL Developer 1.1.0.23. In this I was trying to use Query Builder. In this I am facing one problem. In our company, we are provided with the view_only schema which are having access to all the objects.
Now while using Query Builder, I want to use the table of the other schema. But Query builder allow only tables owned by the schema with which we are logged in. This is making it virtually useless if we need to create the query like
    Select a.col1,
    b.co1
    from schema1.table_name1 a,
    schema2.table_name2 b;
Can we created such query with Query Builder, or do we have any work around for this ???
    Regards
    Martand Joshi

This is correct. There is a bug logged for this, but at this stage the query builder does not support read only access.
