Crystal report viewer stop grouping (sorting) when there is a lot of data

Hi,
Here is my problem, when I try to view a report that uses grouping and sorting on the Crystal Report Viewer (web), if the query returns more then 490 records then all the groups are screwed up. Basically all the records are in the report but they are not in the proper groups and they are not sorted. It seams like it's running out of memory and just gives up.
The same report works fine in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer tool.
Is there a way to increase the memory of the Crystal Report Viewer (web) or is there something else I can do about that?
Thanks

I installed the Crystal Report plug-in on my Eclipse and I ran my report in it. Then I got this error:
Original Order Grouping: Modifying groups with original order grouping is not fully supported.
Change all groups with 'Sort property to a value other than 'Original Order', or modify the report grouping in the Crystal Report designer application.
So I modified my report to remove the "Original Order ".
That seam to fix the problem, I havenu2019t been able to reproduce it since.
Thanks
/Yannick

  • Error With Export/Print from Crystal Report Viewer

    Hello there,
    I've searched through the web and SAP discussion boards with not much luck with this issue.
    After working through this for some days now I've decided to look here for help.
    Environment:
    I have created a web Crystal Report viewer application(Developed with SBOP BI Platform 4.0 SP06 .NET SDK Runtime) that communicates with a managed Cyrstal Server 2011 SP4 (Product 14.0)
    I am able to connect and authenticate with the server, retrieve a token for communication and display reports in the Crystal report Viewer successfully.
    Problem:
    When I attempt to export, I receive the prompt to select format and pages.
    When I click export after selections most times I receive an error with the text
    Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.PropertyBag'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{74EEBC42-6C5D-11D3-9172-00902741EE7C}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
    Other times the page simply refreshes on export.
    When I click to print, no print dialog is displayed the page always refreshes and no error is displayed.
    No Print or Export document is ever created.
    As many print/export issues seems to be related, I'm guessing this two issues are as well.
    Notes:
    I am utilizing the ReportClientDocument model
    I am storing this in session to use as the crystal report viewer report source on postbacks
    I am assigning a subset of export formats to the crystal report viewer
    I am setting particular parameters as well on the report source
    At this point I would appreciate every assistance I may receive on this issue
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks Don for your response,
    I'm new to the SCN spaces and my content has been moved a couple of times already.
    In response to your questions
    The runtime is installed on the web application server, if by that you mean the machine hosting the created .NET SDK application.
    My question was whether it was also required on the Crystal Server 2011 (I.E. the main enterprise server with CMS and Report management and I guess RAS and all that). I figured this would remain untouched and queries would simply be made against it to retrieve/view reports e.t.c
    If install of the SDK on Crystal Server 2011 is indeed required should I expect any interruption to any of the core services after a restart. I.E. I'm hoping that none of the SDK objects would interfere with the existing server objects (in SAP Business Objects)Reason I ask is I note that much of the SDK install directories are similar to the existing Crystal Enterprise Server 2011 (Product 14.0.0)
    Is this temp folder to be manually created/configured or is it created by the application automatically to perform tasks. Or are you referring to the default C:\Windows\Temp directory and so saying that the application would try to use this for print and export tasks?Once I'm sure which I'd give the app pool user permission
    Printing is to be client side but I figured by default (with the Crystal Report Viewer) it would simply pool and print from the user's printer. This is how it works with the previously used URL reporting approach (viewrpt.cwr). Therefore a user can print the document from wherever they are with their own printer.We don't intend on printing from the server machine, but are you suggesting that a printer must be installed on server (which one web or enterprise server) for any client side printing to work.
    App pool is running in 32 bit mode
    Initially didn't get anything useful from fiddler but I'd try and look closer on your suggestion.
    It's also possible that some of my questions are a misunderstanding of APP vs RAS vs WEB, so please feel free to clarify. Currently I see the Web server as simply the created .NET SDK Application and RAS (Crystal Server 2011 e.t.c) as the existing fully established Application server which I simply pool for information.
    Thank you for your patience and advice,

  • Crystal Report Viewer Not viwed - Through APP Server Re-Direction

    Hello Team
    I have a critical problem in my organizaion for viewing the reports.
    Configuration that we are using:
    1. Windows Server 2008 R2
    2. Crystal 13 - Server Trial Version - Expiring on Aug-25th, 2014
    3. Used Visual Studio 2010 - .NET
    4. IIS 7.0 - configured a  Virtual Directory for ASP.NET application
    Out Application is using an Oracle APP Server to view the HTML. A button is provided in the HTML to redirect to view the Crystal Report.
    when I click on the Hyperlink and the url is directly accessed, then the Report is being shown without any issue.
    But ours is a corporate application and we have given a provision of accessign this application when users are outside of network. Hence the Crystal Server is under fire-wall. So, I cannot access it directly with a URL. Hence the app server is configured in such a way that if it find a name like "Reports" in the URL, then it redirects to the actual Web Server and gets back the data to the browser.
    for URL redirection, the app server is configured as below
        ProxyPass /crystalreportviewers/ http://<<ServerIP>>/crystalreportviewers/
        ProxyPassReverse /crystalreportviewers/ http://<<ServerIP>>/crystalreportviewers
        ProxyPass /reports10/ http://<<ServerIP>>/reports10/
        ProxyPassReverse /reports10/ http://<<ServerIP>>/reports10
    When the user redirects from the APP server using those redirection rules, the pages are being executed but the final crystal report viewer control is not being shown on the browser. I am not sure if we need to perform any other steps to get these thigns done.
    Our server is behind fire-wall and whenever I am in network, I used to get the output but when the redirection happens not able to load the Crystal Report Viewer. Not sure, if there are any other security rules that I need to consider to get back the CrystalReportViewer.
    Also, there is something called CrystalReportInteractiveViewer prior to Crystal13. Do we have anything as such in Crystal 13 also? Please help me in getting this worked.
    Please let me know if I am not clear in my explanation and I can certainly provide you a better information based on your queries.
    Thanks

  • Get blank report in Crystal Report Viewer when exporting to PDF

    I have an application that creates reports in the CrystalReportViewer while at the same time exports a PDF of that report.  I am having a problem in which
    performing the export causes the report in the ReportViewer and the PDF report to be blank. They have the header and column labels but no data.  If I
    comment out the Me.Export(reportExportOptions) line at the end of the exportPDFReport method the report in the ReportViewer works fine, displaying
    data on the report.
    I have other forms that perfrom this same type of function on different reports and work fine.  In fact they use the same exportPDFReport method.  This leads
    me to believe that a difference in the reports may be causing the problem.  But I can't figure out why.
    I am using .net 3.5 with Crystal Reports 2008 (CR2008) full edition in Visual Studio 2008.  Although the reports that work were probably created using
    VS 2005 and the VS 2005 edition of Crystal, and which have since been updated to CR2008.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?  If so, how did you resolve it?
    Thanks for any help!

    Pretty much.
    Seems I had at one time hard coded a record selection statement that I forgot to remove which caused the report to be blank.  That solved my problem, but there still seems to be an issue in that the Crystal Report Viewer performed differently when I tried to export to PDF (no records displayed) then when I didn't (records displayed).

  • Page Not Found Error when clicking on Crystal Report Viewer print icon

    Hi,
        I am working with ASP.NET 2.0 and crystla reportXI release2.
        I am getting "Page Can not be Found " error when clicking on Crystal Report Viewer print icon.
        Could you please tell me how to get rid of this error?
    Regards,
    Smitha

    This sounds like a postback issue. Does your application handle postback by putting the report in session?
    There is a [sample|http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/en/CrystalReports_dotNET_SDK/crsdk_samples_aspx/data/crsdk_net_tutorials_115_en.zip] to look at on our website. It was created with Crystal Reports XI R2 and Visual Studio .NET but the code will be the same.
    A short pseudocode would be something like this:
    Dim rptDocument As ReportDocument
    If Not Me.IsPostBack or Session("Report") = Nothing Then
    rptDocument = New ReportDocument
    rptDocument.Load(sGlobalPath & "\myreport.rpt";)

  • Error when running Crystal Reports Viewer

    Hello,
    Has anyone come across this error before when opening the crystal report viewer?
    'The CrystalReportsViewer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion launcher jar'
    Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Kate

    Moving to Crystal Reports forums - the "Crystal Reports Viewer" desktop application is built on the Crystal Reports Java SDK, but it's not a SDK issue.
    The launcher executable just can't find the internal files it needs for its operation.

    Enter the following:
    viewer blank net crystal
    into the search box in the top right corner. You should get a number of hits (Kbases and articles) that should point you to a solution.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

    I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
    I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
    Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
    If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
    Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

    Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
    If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
    Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

    Hi,
    Its a best practice to use the code given below in the unload event of the page or the code can also be written in a button press event so that the disposing is ensured manually(If sessions are in use).
    boReportDocument.Close();
    boReportDocument.Dispose();
    GC.Collect();
    Note: boReportDocument is the object of ReportDocument.
    This code disposes the report object after using it.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Collapse Unneeded Lines

    I have a CR open sales order report grouped by sales order number. Crystal report viewer outlines Sales Order #, customer name and doc total in the master line. Underneath that, it shows multi line items contain in that SO.
    I am wondering, is there a way I can collapse the multi line items and only shows the master line item? We need this sometimes to present to management just to show the big picture.
    Is it we can add a drill-down event to the crystal report viewer control? Not sure how to accomplish that. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    If the detail information is in the Detail section, you can set the Detail Section to Hide.  This will only show the Sales Order information and have the ability to drill down to the Details when you need them.
    Good luck,
    Brian

    If I change the user agent string in Firefox to that of Firefox 7.0.1 everything works as expected, this implies there is some logic in get_IsNetscape6Up() which is failing because the major browser version as reported by the user agent string is two digits instead of one.
    We encountered a similar issue for our legacy pages containing Infragistics 2007 controls but were able to fix that by overriding the System.Web.Configuration.HttpCapabilitiesBase.BrowserCapabilitiesProvider and faking the browser version to 9.80.  Crystal Report Viewer is apparently not using .Net's built in HttpBrowserCapabilities object, is there anything else I can adjust to stop the viewer failing?

    hello Robert
    Today must be my day. I already got a reply from PM (normally it takes a "bit" longer...). Anyhow, here is what he said:
    With Firefoxu2019s release cycles, I donu2019t think weu2019ll be able to officially support the latest versions
    of Firefox at every service release.  We do our best to test the released versions of Firefox
    that align with our releases.  I donu2019t know the details but Iu2019ve heard there is a plan in place where
    the support team(s) (?) will test the most recent releases of Firefox with whatu2019s currently
    shipping by SAP and log bugs as necessary.
    (umm, this is my - Ludek note here ) -> news to me re. support doing QA... find out something new every day. Anyhow, continuation of the message from PM:
    The current plan for CR for VS2010, the SP3 release (expected in April) will support up to
    Firefox 9.  If there are reproducible bugs in Firefox 10 (or higher), then please enter a bug
    and escalate and it will be investigated for the next available release.
    I'll revisit this once SP3 is out there and do an escalation for Firefox 10 - ok?

  • Crystal Reports Viewer Control  - Visual Studio 2008 WEB Application

    My question is this:  Has ANYONE on this planet been able to get the ASP .NET CR Viewer control to actually work?
    Why does this editor NOT recognize End-of-line or CR characters or any whitespace??
    I have developed a Crystal Reports "Viewer" web application in VS2008 using C#.
    It's a simple app, in that it's a single page with a treeview control (containing the grouped names of the reports to which the user has access) and the CR Viewer control.
    The report files live on a network share, and permissions to them is controlled via a SQL Server database, which, for each report, stores the UserID and Logion for the oracle database, as well as any required parameter values.
    The reports themselves are all hititng an Oracle 10g database.
    I managed to do this in a Windows desktop applcation using Visual Studio 2005 and VB .net, but now, upon trying to make this a web application in VS2008, I have completely failed. The application works when run locally, but when deployed to the web server, I experience database login prompts when I should not, (the dreaded "Report requires further information" message) even thought the setdatabaselogin has already been set. I have tried saving the reportdocument in viewstate and re-assigning the viewer Datasource property to it, that also fails. However, it only does it on some reports, and not others. (admittedly, the reports may have been created using different CR versions)
    The viewer also displays data it should not be displaying when I attempt to scroll, when I do manage to get a report to run.
    I am setting parameters dynamically at run time, whose values are stored in the SQL database.
    Code Sample:
    protected void ShowReport(int ReportID)
            SQLDataPortal2005.Common sql = new SQLDataPortal2005.Common();
            Hashtable outParms = new Hashtable();
            string sAccess;
            IDataReader dr;
            CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rptDocument = new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument();
            System.Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal p = System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal as System.Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal;
            sAccess = p.Identity.Name;
            int j = 0;
            int i = -1;
            if (!IsAdmin())
                sql.ExecNonQuery("CrystalReports", outParms, "proc_CRM_Check_Permissions", sAccess, Convert.ToInt32(TreeView1.SelectedNode.Value));
                if (outParms["@Allow"].ToString() != "True")
                   Response.Redirect("ErrorPage.aspx");  // redirect to  error page
            string sPath = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["WareHouse"].ToString();
            sPath = sPath + TreeView1.SelectedNode.Text.Trim() + ".rpt";
            rptDocument.Load(sPath);
            dr = sql.GetDataReader("CrystalReports", "proc_CRM_Get_Report", Convert.ToInt32(TreeView1.SelectedNode.Value));
            while (dr.Read() == true)
                j += 1;
                if (j < 2)
                    rptDocument.SetDatabaseLogon(dr["DB_Login"].ToString(), dr["DB_Pwd"].ToString(), "PLAW", "LAWDB", true);
                    pList = dr["ParmList"].ToString().Split(',');
            dr.Close();
            dr.Dispose();
            if (pList.Length > 0 && pList[0].ToString().Trim() != "")
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterField x in rptDocument.ParameterFields)
                    i++;
                    switch (x.ParameterValueType)
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.BooleanParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToBoolean(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.CurrencyParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDouble(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.DateParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.DateTimeParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.NumberParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToInt32(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.StringParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToString(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.TimeParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
            Session["CReport"] = rptDocument;
            CRV1.ReportSource = rptDocument;
            CRV1.DisplayGroupTree = false;
            CRV1.HasRefreshButton = true;
            CRV1.ShowFirstPage();
    Is there a better/different way of accomplishing this very simply process? All I need this application to do is to view a report, while setting it's parmeters (if required) dynamically at run time. I don't EVER want the user to be prompted for DB LOGIN INFO.

    To answer you question; Yes, I suspect that most of the users in this community have managed to successfully create web apps. And this is the tiniest of sampling of the developers out there...
    A few suggestions;
    1) Keep the posts to under 1200 characters. Otherwise, the formatting is lost which makes it difficult to read.
    2) Try out a few sample apps from here:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsfor.NETSDK+Samples
    Suggest; csharp_web_simplelogonengine.zip, csharp_web_simplelogonviewer.zip and csharp_web_subreport_logon.zip.
    3) Start simple; one table, one field, no subreports. Hard code the database logon parameters. Convince your self that this does work. Increase the complexity - add fields, tables, subreports. Do not mix connection methods (e.g.; if ODBC for main, than ODBC for sub is a good idea, though not a requirement).
    4) See the article [Troubleshooting Guide to Database Connectivity Issues with Crystal Reports in Visual Studio .NET Applications|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b0225775-88c4-2c10-bd80-8298769293de].

  • How to change default Export Format Type in Crystal Report Viewer

    We are coding in VB.NET 2005 using the CR2008 SP1 .NET objects.
    The Crystal Report Viewer, when displayed, defaults the export type as .rpt (Crystal Reports).
    We distribute our .NET application to our customers.  99% of the time, this .rpt format is useless to our customers as they do not have crystal reports developer.  They usually export to a .pdf or .xls format.  Is there a way to default this export option to something other than .rpt?
    Thank you.

    Yes, that's as much as I figured.
    With the Crystal for .NET methods, the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine's reportdocument object has an ExportToDisk method.  We wanted to use this (as we used something similar with the RDC) to prompt the user to export.  However, the reportdocument's exporttodisk method does not have an argument that allows for Prompting the user (true/false) like the RDC's export did.  You have to actually know ahead of time the type of export the user wants as well as the filename.  Well, we do not, and therefore, want the user to be able to select the type of export they want as well as enter their own filename.  We want the Crystal methods to prompt for this.  Since we are unable to, we've had to resort to declaring a reportviewer object and setting the viewer's reportsource = to the reportdocument.  We then use the ExportReport() method which defaults to .rpt (which none of our end users have Crystal Developer).  This is why we want to know if there is a way to reset the default export method to something more common (such as .pdf or .xls).  Is there a way to change the reportdocument's file type in order to default the export type?  Just trying to come up with some sort of workaround...
    Thanks

  • "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects"

    I'm using Crystal Reports Server XI and getting the error/pop up box: "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects" when trying to view a report through the website.
    Any suggestions would be appreiciated. I'm very unfamiliar with Crystal Reports but it's fallen into my lap to install and suppor this application.
    I have tried changing some browser settings to allow ActiveX content and such but that hasn't seemed to help. I also tried downloading a particular 3 .dll's files to my desktop and registering them, as well as re-registering them on the server. They were CRVIEWER.dll, swebrs.dll, sviewhlp.dll.
    I'm using IE 7.0 and CR Server XI is installed in a Windows 2003 R2 SE server.  IIS seems to be setup OK.  I haven't changed any of the default installation settings that were configured during the installation on the virtual directory that was created.  I received no errors during the installation.  I'm also not seeing anything obvious pop up in the event logs.  I still have yet to do a log parser query looking for anything that says crystal reports.
    Thanks!

    Hi Wendy,
    This issue might be better addressed by our .NET development forum,  however,  some of the things that come to mind are:
    1.  As a test are you able download the Active X Viewer from the client machine by accessing it via a URL:
    http:// <yourserver>/crystalreportviewers/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab
    Does it prompt you do download the .CAB file?
    2.  If you have more than one version of the Active X Viewer installed on the client machine,  go through this SAP Note (1215398) from the Service Market Place to remove it.
    3.  Check your browser settings (Tools|Security|Custom Level) to make sure Active Controls are set to at least prompt.
    4.  Confirm with your network administrator if there are group policies that restrict the installation of Active X Controls or if users do not have the rights to install.
    Regards,
    Wallie
